(00:30):
It happened this year somepoint in your life.
Yeah, some point, you somepoint.
You know what you're gonnapodcast about, be about good
question.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Um, I've, I'm a goofy
guy, I have a lot of ideas, but
um, we'll figure it out, it's.
It's a good way to talk.
I love talking.
I can get people's ears off,but yeah I think it'll be a fun
opportunity to have some laughsat least exactly, and um for
those how we know each other, listening uh we went to high
school together well, likemiddle school, high school, you
(00:58):
know we grew up together alittle bit.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Even though we
weren't close in high school, I
still knew of you a lot andthat's exactly your.
I'm surprised like you didn'tcome on the podcast sooner,
because it seemed like herpersonality is like I guess I
could tell you you are a peopleperson.
You're a real estate agent too.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yes.
So I mean, yeah, it kind ofmakes sense You'll be in the
podcast day yeah, I mean time ona podcast, so this is going to
be a lot of fun.
Um, I haven't been invited toany other podcast but I've had
ideas of wanting to be on otherpodcasts.
But honestly, man, it's justconversations fun.
I love talking to people.
(01:33):
It's my job as a realtor istalking to people all the time.
You know, introducing myselfthat is cool.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I mean I had the
opposite effect in high school.
You probably know I was likeone of the quietest guys in the
universe.
But movies is cool.
I mean I had the oppositeeffect in high school.
Like you probably know, I waslike one of the quietest guys in
the universe.
But movies is something I lovetalking about, which is exactly
why I love starting this podcastthat's awesome, man, because
you were a quiet one I was, Imean, I think, the most.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
We have maybe had a
few conversations, if we ever
had a class together, butotherwise we just said hi, we
never had any we had a lot ofmutual friends yeah, we had a
lot of mutual friends but neverany, I wouldn't say trouble,
like I just I just looked at youas another person in high
school I don't even knowdisrespect.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
That's cool.
I don't even think I ever haddetention or anything like that.
I was like the good kid inschool quiet kid.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
You probably saw me
around the hallways and raised
an eyebrow because I was theweirdo.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
But no, no, no um, I
want to talk about mma fighting,
because this is like big news, like you're making your mma
debut, yeah, june 7th.
I don't remember you being likethat in high school, though, so
how did they come about?
Speaker 1 (02:39):
um, my brother was
mma fire.
Before and back when I was likein fifth grade was when I
started at another gym inshareville and it was taekwondo
jujitsu.
It was like a mixture that wastheir kids class and, um, I did
that going up into high schoolthat's kind of when jujitsu
ended, and so it's always beenon my mind that I wanted to
(03:01):
fight.
Oh really yeah, it's alwaysbeen on my mind that I wanted to
fight.
Oh really yeah, it's alwaysbeen on my mind.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
It's not really like
an anger thing though.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
No, I just like the
art of mixed martial arts.
I call it movement therapy forme.
I love learning something newand, yeah, it's a defense
mechanism.
I would consider it as adefense that I can use, but it's
not like I'm looking to use it.
If you want to see me use it,get in the cage.
(03:31):
Come see me in the cage, comesee me in the ring.
I have two kickboxing matches.
I'm making my MMA debut.
I couldn't be any more excited.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
How'd you do in your
kickboxing matches?
Speaker 1 (03:43):
One and one in my
kickboxing matches.
I lost my first one.
Second one came back strong.
The crazy thing about those wasthe second one.
I was worried about an injuryoh really and didn't have an
injury.
The injury.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Like in your arm, it
was in my back.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Lower back Hip
problems.
You know the hips don't lie,but yeah I was.
I was like so worried aboutthat, ended up getting a
decision win.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
so that was it was a
lot of fun fuck yeah, do you
follow a lot of mma like, like, pros and stuff like that?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
oh yeah um, I'm not
the type to like study fighters,
because everyone has their ownstyle.
Yeah, um, if you're gonna hearme cough a lot, I was actually
watching eight of my guys fightyesterday, so a lot of screaming
, so my voice is somewhat gone.
So you're part of a whole teamthough.
Yes, uh, team cologne, cologne, way or no way okay, remember
that.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
So it's a cologne way
.
No way, I like that.
How'd you guys come up withthat name?
Speaker 1 (04:42):
uh, someone in my gym
said it and and everyone just
followed along.
Honestly, that's dope.
Steve Colon, if you ever see aclip or watch this man, you're
the best, best coach in theregion.
He's really changed my life.
Yeah, not only that, I have thebest family in there, we're all
family in there when we get inthere.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
How many of the guys
are you guys in there?
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Oh, man family in
there, uh, when we get in there,
how?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
many of the guys, you
guys are in there.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Oh man, I don't even
know, okay, because, um, yeah,
we have an mma class, but wealso have jujitsu, we have
boxing, we have kickboxing.
Everyone does their own thing.
Yeah, and me being a peopleperson, I love watching people's
growth.
So, by all means, I'm no coachor anything, but I'll help as
much as I can do you thinkthat's a possible future for you
in the future?
we'll see, um, see where it goes, see what my body tells me.
(05:28):
Um, a lot of people, like youknow, I'll give you this a lot
of people ask me what is youradvice about fighting, or what
is your advice about this?
And I go just go to the nextclass.
You know, because and I and Isaid this in an interview in my
from my supposed to be upcomingkickboxing match, but it got
canceled because the opponentdidn't accept and the other one
(05:49):
backed out.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Did he hit me that?
Speaker 1 (05:51):
tough, you scared him
out of it.
Yeah, I guess.
So that's what we're all saying.
But yeah, man, everyone wantsme to teach them the secret move
and I'm like, there's no secretmove.
I'm no pro myself, I'm anamateur.
No, it's just putting in thehours.
Yeah, putting in the hours.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Come up, come to the
next class, and then they'll be
like what's after that nextclass, you know I keep it simple
um, you show up, listen to yourcoach and probably make it far
I want to give a shout out toour mutual friend, freddie,
who's you know.
I knew because he's my friend'scousin and he's been on the
podcast before, but you, youwork out with him too, right
(06:31):
yeah, um, he's a little guy, alittle scrawny guy, little
scrawny guy and he's like a,like a tank don't tell anyone,
but I put him in my gym bag touh, I carry him around that's
how awesome he is.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Yeah, he's a good kid
but uh, he's awesome man, he
has a great mindset goodpersonality yeah, and very
knowledgeable in the fitnessfield.
Very knowledgeable, like, don'tfall asleep on his knowledge.
If you, if you need a trainer, you go talk to him, man how many
hours a week would you sayyou're in the gym?
If, if I do four days, probablyhour and a half, two hours a
(07:06):
day that's done now.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
How like what does it
like a workout?
Look for you like training day.
Look like like you liftingweights.
Are you just strictly doingmovements?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
so for this upcoming
fight, it's going to be
different but, um, when it comesto this uh, getting to my MMA
gym, hit up jujitsu and then hitup MMA Call it a night, Follow
my body and follow my temple.
Sundays we do open mat.
As long as I'm getting sometype of movement, I'm going to
(07:38):
be locked in ready to go.
I got eight weeks to get ready.
The cardio's got to step up.
What a lot of people don'trealize is you guys.
No disrespect to any othersport, but let's talk about
basketball, because I'm a bigbasketball fan.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
You can tell me they
practice for an hour, hour and a
half, two hours.
But the real champions is whatcomes from who puts in the extra
work?
Steph Curry he put up, he putup 15 000 three-pointers and
made what?
Three thousand, four thousandof them.
That's him going in everysingle day hitting a thousand
(08:16):
shots and then going to practiceI heard that.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
So it's the extra
work.
A big one like that too.
Yeah, he would practice beforethe practice practice before the
practice lift weights.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Before the weight or
stuff like that.
I mean it's that's insane.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
I mean, yeah, like it
makes sense, they're great,
like they're like oh, it's alltime, because like they put in
the hours, like sometimes we'redoing three, three days, you
know it's um, it's tough on ourbody, but I mean, mean that's
sport.
We're physically hurting eachother and did you grow up
playing any other sports?
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Just basketball,
that's about it.
Um, obviously I tried out forour high school, but it didn't
work out, so I just did my thing.
You know, I just love playing.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Are you on a
wrestling team?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
at least no.
I thought about it, but it was.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I think it was too
late I think our friend matt
lambeau was on a wrestling.
I don't know if he was inmiddle school, I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
But he he's another
great athlete yeah, he is, he,
he's a, even when it comes toweight lifting weights, he's
just.
He's just a freak of nature, you know yeah, yeah, it's
another small tank, yeah thenhe's a break dancer yeah, I
don't know if you still do that.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
It's kind of cool you
know what?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
um so I'm at a
wedding and they, uh, he was
just busting out thebreakdancing move.
So he still had it.
This was a couple years ago,but that is awesome, but I'm
sure he still has it.
He he's very active, very umman, we got to.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
We're pushing 30 now.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
We got to be active,
yeah yeah, I think matt just got
engaged too yeah, congrats mattlambert.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I'm sure he's my
number one listener.
I've talked to that guy this islike junior high school bro
right no, um, I still run intopeople from high school yeah, I
do too yeah, I'll talk about afew who I'll rant.
We I ran to recently.
Afterwards.
Well, brady cole is a big partof this podcast g-force yeah I
told him you're coming on this.
(10:06):
He was very excited because, like he's on like at least once
a month, I feel like that is mrvivacious right there yeah, mr
vivacious.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
You want to know
where that name came from I
remember that, thinking about itmiddle school, in high school,
yeah uh, I think it was sixthgrade vocabulary class or
whatever reading, where youlearn the word vivacious and
stuck with him, yeah, as wewould call mr vivacious I.
I called him g-force because itwas just a name I gave him back
(10:34):
in middle school.
But um, yeah, he's.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
He's a ball of energy
like I am he's, he's a I, his
episodes are my favoriteepisodes.
Like he's very knowledgeableabout movie news and actors and
stuff like that and what I couldjust nerd out with all the time
.
Um, yeah, I'm excited to talkto you about MMA still, but um,
for those listening don'tdiscuss it.
We're still doing movie reviews, oh, absolutely.
Uh we're going to do, just talka little bit, but we're going to
(10:57):
be two in.
The new amateur came out andthen, uh, for a throwback
episode, you picked the roadroadhouse with jake chillen.
I'll thinking about it.
I think I might have did a minireview of this already with
brandon cole, and this is mysecond time revisiting it since
it first came out.
So, yeah, I'm excited to talkabout that one, because it's all
.
I don't think it got any better.
It's the second one.
Yes, yeah, um, but you movieslike, do you like watching the
(11:19):
MMA fighting?
And like, uh, like brother, brothers, is it brothers?
With um tom hardy and um, no,it's called warriors, sorry,
where he fights oh my god, youwould love that one.
So it's focused on two brothers.
One is a teacher for like amiddle school, high school who
does, I mean, decided just toget money because, like he's
(11:42):
like living check to check, hehas a wife and, I believe, a
couple of kids.
I don't think I've seen that.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Or heard of it at
least.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Tom Hardy plays his
brother, who's a dishonored
military act.
I think he got a dishonorableleave or something like that.
Just grew up in hate and stufflike that.
So he chose MMA contests tojust get money by too, and then
they're fighting together in thefinale.
It's a feel-good, phenomenalmma fighting movie.
(12:09):
And you know you have otherstuff like uh, one of the movies
we're gonna talk about withsouth paul.
That's not mma, but uh closeenough.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Uh, jake jill oxing.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Yeah, jill, I can
never say his name jake jill and
all who's amazing abouttransforming his body.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Dude, he's a beast.
He's a great actor too.
He's such a great actor.
There's some movies that he waslike a crazy guy or something
that I can recall.
But the thing about him is heworks hard on his body,
definitely, and let's talk aboutRoadhouse first.
(12:45):
He just the acting, which is sochill.
The one thing I'll tell you isthere's a little crazy side in
him that I saw A little bit.
We'll talk about Conor McGregor, because he's one of my
favorite fighters stylistically, the things that he's done in
(13:08):
public let's say I don't agreeon, but stylistically he's a
great fighter.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
That was his acting
debut in this movie too.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Yeah, I was surprised
.
I thought he was only going toget a small little part.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
No, he was a villain,
he was a main villain.
He was a main villain.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
He became a TikTok
main too.
It was hilarious.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah, I'm thinking
about it, I remember that.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
I thought it was
hilarious man.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Jake Gyllenhaal.
We talked about him just alittle bit too, because he's
everywhere now he's an A-listactor now.
On top of that, I enjoywatching him off the screen
interviews and stuff like that, because he just does seem like a
genuine nice guy.
And anyone talking about himlike Tom Holland was talking
about when he was working inSpider-Man Far From Home how
great it was working with him.
(13:52):
He's always in the gym.
He even invited me to work outwith him and he said he killed
him in the gym and then after 45minutes in, he's like all right
, you ready to start working out?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah, I remember that
clip.
I minutes in.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
He's like all right,
you ready to start working out?
So, yeah, yeah, I remember thatclip.
Um, I thought that was with um,I'm having a brain fart.
Who played thor?
Oh, chris simsworth, yeah, no,no, I'm pretty positive that was
with jake tom holland.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
That was jake.
Yeah, I remember watching aninterview.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
It was like on um,
like one of the tonight shows,
right, yeah, simsworth is alsogreat at transforming his body
too yeah, they all are well, like for this movie specifically
, jake did train with actual mmafighters and, um I can't
remember his trainer's nameoffhand, but he did put in the
hours um, and it paid off too.
It definitely in the movie likehis arms, his type of body he
built so with this.
(14:35):
Well, for this specific movie,I think they wanted more like
show muscles versus actualmuscles yeah like the abs, the
six-pack, the ripped arms, stufflike that, obviously for the.
I don't think that stuff isnecessary for the actual octagon
, because you see them and youguys Just first glance I'd be
(14:56):
thinking this guy's just a fatguy.
No, that is all pure muscleunderneath it.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Yeah and movie-sake
absolutely A lot of MMA fighters
that fight in their weightclass.
They're not super shredded like.
Everyone has their owndefinition of shredded.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Jake is just beyond
shredded in my opinion, but I'm
so impressed, like how, like thewritten one, I say he's amazing
, transforming his body, he, heshreds his body in different
ways for different movies, likeoh, yeah, this one's six packs,
the other one's like like zachefron for the iron, iron claw
like his is more just like around belly almost, but like
that was pure ab work rightthere and um versus.
(15:35):
You see him in like baywatch.
You know that.
One's like a completelydifferent kind of body, which is
insane insane for the humanbody.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
How we could do that
absolutely yeah, but um, but
compared to mma, because therewas clips of him in that movie,
in the ufc, big and um, fromwhat I recall, he had a accident
in the ufc and then got himkicked out, but um, he was just
trying to find his way.
So he found his way to that bar, obviously, and he was
(16:05):
protecting the bar, and so forhim to transform his body for
like the ufc compared to likeactually watching the ufc.
It's like I have that littlecritique when it comes to like
actual mma, because I think oflike the memes that come up yeah
like if you look up like ajustin gaethje meme, uh, ufc
fighter, um, there's this onethat I'm a big meme guy, you're
(16:29):
gonna learn that but um, thereis this one that, uh, it was
like a twitter post and it said,uh, I'm looking for this kind
of man in my life from a girland then replies justin gaethje,
hi.
And she goes, ill known.
And he goes and he replies I'mliterally the guy in the picture
.
So, um, it's crazy how, becausethere's different stresses when
(16:53):
it comes to fighting- you knowum.
And then movies too, like whatwe're talking about with jake um
.
He put his stress into thismovie super jack, super shredded
.
Conor mcgregor stayed the sameyeah yeah, everyone's accusing
him of steroids.
I, I wouldn't doubt it.
I saw him fight at 145 pounds.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
I used to walk around
180 well, there's certain rule
like I think they get in serioustrouble, they do get caught
fighting outside.
Uh, mma fighting, yeah, likeyou look legit registered
register weapons walking around.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Yeah, absolutely.
And let me talk about ConorMcGregor a little bit, because
unless you got any questions forme about the movie, yeah, well,
we're going to talk about themovie after this.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
So this will probably
follow into some of your
questions, because I know yougot some critiques.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
I saw the look on
your face.
I'm ready for it.
I'm going to be honest I thinkConnor was good in his acting
For that role.
Any other movie if he's notacting like I'm going to say it
cracked out, cocaine-ed out inany other movie, then I don't
think he's going to say itcracked out cocaine, a cocaine
(18:05):
out in any other movie, then Idon't think he's going to be a
good actor this guy seems like alive action Wario character
right, right, and you know, justseeing that crazy side of him
was like it was a crazy side ofhim, but it also seemed tame
like he did that in the movie.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
He seemed tamed as
well, like yeah, he's fucking
crazy side of him, but it alsoseemed tamed like he did that in
the movie.
He seemed tamed as well, likeyeah, he's fucking crazy, but he
can get even crazier.
You know, you presume?
Um, we'll talk about uh,roadhouse first before we get
into the amateur.
Um, this is actually a remake.
Have you seen the original?
Speaker 1 (18:38):
no I haven't.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
No, it's back in the
80s.
This is actually a remake and alot of people were upset that
this was even get made at all.
Um, pet swayze plays theoriginal character, but in this
movie they changed out to laterupdate it isn't.
The other guy wasn't a ufc atall.
Uh, ex-ufc fighter dalton takesa job as a bouncer in the
florida keys roadhouse, only todiscover that the paradise is
(19:01):
not all as it seems.
This movie is directed by douglemon, written by anthony
bargosi, uh, chuck mondry, andthe story motion picture
screenplay by r lance hill.
I hated this movie for not justfor the fighting.
The fighting scenes were cooland all that yeah I mean the
(19:22):
characters.
I hated a lot of the characters.
I hated like a lot of thedialogue.
It was a lot of cheesy acting, absolutely jill and all this
movie was a lot for jake tocarry on himself like to carry
everyone else I hated the sidecharacters.
Um, the chemistry wasn't reallythere.
I mean jake, between jake andum the chemistry wasn't really
there.
I mean between Jake and Connor.
(19:46):
You know he was very good.
I thought that was very goodtogether.
Other than that, the villain, like the guy the money kid I
hated his ass so much.
I hated the little girl in thismovie, the little girl.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Yeah, don't do the
little girl like that, she's
innocent.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
She's like 19, 20
years old and she's trying to
play a 12-year-old.
She's that age?
No, I'm assuming she lookedthat age to me 19, 20.
She's not a little girl,because she's pursuing to play a
12-year-old in this movie.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yes, I think younger,
with her little pigtails and
all that too.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
I was like come on,
what are we doing here?
It sucked.
Come on, what are we doing here?
Like it, it sucked.
Um, I have a whole list here, too, what I want to go through.
But, like, the first open movieopens up, I thought it was cool
Cause I'm a big post Malone fanto see post Malone opening up
as a fighter too.
This is during a chunky days, though, um yeah.
And then, like I like, themovie sets the tone right away
(20:39):
for dalton, like how hisreputation precedes him, how he
was supposed to fight postmalone, but he takes one look at
him, he's like nah, I don'twant to fuck that, yeah, yeah,
yeah so I mean they do goodabout setting up things like
that.
But like jake, general'scharacter does take himself a
little bit way too serious inthis movie.
He's a little bit of cockinessand I hate how, like the almost
every other fight he's likebefore we get started.
(21:00):
Do you got health insurance?
Do you got I?
Speaker 1 (21:02):
thought it was funny,
I, I thought it was funny I
thought it was like come on,dude, like in movie scenes?
Speaker 2 (21:07):
yeah, but um but if
you met this guy in real life?
Speaker 1 (21:10):
oh, absolutely yeah.
If you met him real lifedifferent story, but um watching
ufc like I would hope.
Someone say that I laugh, youknow, like if someone said I
hope you got health insuranceyeah, how far is the nearest
hospital?
Speaker 2 (21:23):
yeah, and he takes
him to the hospital himself yeah
, I thought I thought that wassavage.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Um, that's the only
word I can put with it, but um.
But I I totally agree what yousay, but um, I just think I have
a different perspective on whatit looks like.
But you're right, jake reallycarried this movie.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
The combo with him
and Connor was great, which kind
of doesn't even come in.
This movie's two hours long.
He doesn't come in until likean hour and 15 minutes, which is
kind of wild to me, yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
And he was like the
whole second half of the movie.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
He was the annoying
bug that wouldn't go away.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
And what confidence
for this guy when you introduced
him.
He's walking around butt-assnaked too, yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
And I mean I found it
funny that his favorite weapon
was like a golf club, A golfclub too.
A golf club.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
And the way he just
introduced himself and just
punched him in the face, Ithought it was hilarious.
I I thought he just goes.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
You know, he even
said pop yeah, I mean for his
first acting debut.
Do you think we would see himin more stuff after this?
I'm shaking my head right now,I don't think so either.
Um, I don't know what he would.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
No, I'm shaking my
head and not saying no, I'm
shaking my head because whateveryou put in front of that guy,
he just will say he does it.
And well, it's just like astory if we'll ever find out if
he does it or not.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
That's the thing
about conor mcgregor yeah, but I
think, actually thinking aboutit in his personal life too,
with some allegations and stufflike that, I don't think he's
gonna have too many offers rightnow.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
I agree like, and
I'll tell you this, he did the
ultimate fighter, which is likethe thing to get ufc fighters,
their name in there and he, um,he was one of the coaches and
michael channel was one of thecoaches, and after that, after
that series is over, they'resupposed to fight.
Well, they didn't never came toagreement or contract, so they
(23:27):
haven't fought yet.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
This is like two
years now he's not really
fighting right now, is he?
Is he still fighting?
Speaker 1 (23:31):
he has fights on his
contract, but um, we'll see if
he actually fights.
But that's what I mean aboutwhat I said yeah it's always a
story like if he's going to doit or not.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Yeah, as far as like
mma fighting goes, like I I mean
mma's been around for years, but I think he was one of the
ogs that made it what it istoday, like as popular as it is
today um, yes, uh, he did put.
Put it on the map yeah, becauseI remember like hearing about
mma fighting.
But he was, I didn't watch itmyself, but like he was one,
(24:03):
like it's.
For me it's a lot like if Iknow your name and I don't even
watch the sport, same thing liketiger woods, like I'm not in
golf, I know him yeah, you know,he's one of the ogs in the
sport yeah, and um two-timechampion, um one of the first, I
think.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
I think he was the
first one to hold both belts at
145, 155 pounds and he had thefastest knockout in championship
history, in 13 seconds withJose Aldo.
So I mean just his voice andwhat he's done.
If he had that fire that he didback, then he probably would
have been fine.
But he has money.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
I think I remember
listening to interviews too.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
He would talk to jake
gyllenhaal um and give him tips
on how to fight too, which Ithought that was very cool and
you know what and that, andthat's the thing that's, he's
still like that yeah I when Imentioned the ultimate fighter,
because I think one or two ofhis guys out of that whole
series won in a fight, and so Idon't want to say he's a great
(25:01):
teacher.
But when it comes to technique,I I would say he's a great
teacher and he has no problemdoing that man.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Can you imagine
getting tips from like?
Like it seemed like so surrealgetting tips from him like hey,
man, they started punching melike with this, like leaning
back or something like that.
I'm sure that's what he wasdoing on set with him the whole
time and I don't know.
It's not really their fault howI feel about this, but like I
think it's the editing choiceslike throwing punches.
I could totally tell theyweren't contacting and some of
them, oh yeah, yeah, absolutely, which I mean that's a silly
(25:34):
complaint because obviouslythey're not actually hit each
other.
Actually, for south paul, jakegyllenhaal really was boxing.
I don't know if you knew thatlike it was legit yeah, he
actually told the director Iwant to do this for real, or
maybe the director told him hewanted to do this for real, but
like, yeah, like that's legit.
Blood and blows are hittingthroughout that whole movie.
Um, but this one, like we'regetting ahead of ourselves
(25:54):
backtrack a little bit.
The roadhouse itself I wrotedown in my notes like during the
daytime it looks like a coolresort spot really.
During the nighttime is when itgets fucking crazy.
And one of the funny thingsabout this movie it is known
around the whole islandbasically that if you want to
fuck around and go fight, thisis the spot where you go do it
at, and the owner and the staffhates it there being known as
(26:18):
that To the point where theyhave a cage in front of, like
the band playing and the bandknows like if fights start
breaking out and stuff like that, just keep on playing, keep on
playing.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
I was like, okay, now
you guys are just catering to
these I, I think in real life, Idon't think that would ever
happen no, it would get shutdown so quick yeah, um well, not
just the fights, I'm talkingabout the band.
Yeah, I don't think the bandwould continue playing.
No one knows this, but I playguitar.
Uh-huh, I can't.
Obviously I'm no singer, butyou know, like I, I like to try
(26:48):
to practice songs at home.
I can't.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
I have a hard time
alone singing the song and
playing guitar at the same time, let alone kicked in the face
right next to you.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
No, I enjoy fighting,
so I may just sit there and
watch, but I would just stopwhat I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Yeah, that was pretty
insane.
When Jake gets hired therefirst, he doesn't even really
help with the fights.
He only helps if things getreally out of hand.
Someone pulls out a knife orsomething like that.
Other than that he looks like abusboy.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Pretty much handle
all these fights you know what
that was a teaching.
He was trying to be a teacher.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
I like that I did
like that I wish they would
focus on that relationship alittle bit more and you see him
grow towards the end.
But like after like the end ofthe first act, they don't really
touch on that anymore.
Like, yeah, he's teaching himand the other kid how to fight
and they get excited.
There's a whole montage of themactually throwing people out.
After that there's like uselessthe rest of the movie yeah, yeah
(27:45):
uh, he does have a loveinterest in this movie with a
nurse who I hate.
Um, she sucked.
He takes her, takes the likelike the gang.
He beats up to the hospital andthe nurse comes out of the to
the parking like, hey, you know, you just ruined my night, right
.
I was like what nurse does that?
What nurse will come to you islike, you fucked up my night.
I was like you know what?
Speaker 1 (28:05):
maybe it's uh, maybe
it's some sort of uh.
How much I don't want to say.
It's like some sort of like, because what you said at during
the day, it looks like a nicepalm resort at night, it's like
a bad neighborhood so maybe it'slike some type of bad
neighborhood nurse behavior.
It could be, it could be, but Imean like, but also like you
know how, what, you know how?
(28:26):
They always say girls love badboys.
Like that's, that's her way ofshooting, her shot I guess I.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Well, it kind of
works and he ends up like liking
her too yeah, and it'sbasically saving her life and
and it just so happens.
She's the police chief'sdaughter.
Yeah, like, what a coincidenceexposes the chief too.
Yeah, uh, yeah, yeah, the onlygood thing about this movie I'm
gonna say that I really likedwas this one specific shot on
(28:52):
their date as they take out theboat to go to this like a small
island where, like, the surfaceis still below water but like
it's only like ankle deep, yeah, and the shot with them sitting
on a lawn chair drinking beers.
That was a beautiful shot.
I was excited for that.
This movie was shot in theDominican Republic and I think
that was my favorite thing aboutthis whole movie.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Yeah, I mean that
sounds.
The soundtrack was pretty cooltoo.
Yeah, it was, I can agree onthat.
That shot was beautiful.
I would love to do that one day.
Maybe after this fight I can godo that.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
That'd be tight.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
That would be tight.
I would need the rest.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Yeah, I didn't forget
to plug yourself.
We'll plug it towards the end.
But mentally, how do youprepare for this fight?
Obviously, physically, it islike training.
But mentally.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Um, I have a quote I
stand by yoga and it's just
everyone's different.
There I I've.
I'll tell you this I learned inmy first fight not to get all
fired up like a madman, and Idid that and it gassed me out.
I think that was part of myreason, my gas out.
My cardio could have beenbetter.
(30:04):
But, um, the one quote thatI've learned in the past year,
when it came to fighting twicelast year, was you don't
experience life.
You experience what you focuson.
So you can sit in there and saywell, what if I got knocked out
?
What if I hurt my leg?
Oh, what if this?
What of that?
Speaker 2 (30:23):
oh, that's a good
quote, like when.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
He's probably like
that yeah, because I mean, how
many times have you sat thereand just really just focused on
another thing?
Yeah and just let it consumeyou, you know.
So are you really experiencinglife that way?
Because, like vacation, forexample, let's go on vacation
but let's not focus on the bad, like we're on vacation to have
(30:46):
fun, obviously, be responsible, but, like I said, you experience
what you focus on.
Where focus goes, energy flowsI like that.
That's a good quote, thank youfor joining my TED Talk.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
I forgot what I was
going to say.
One thing I do like about MMAfighting and stuff like that and
we're going to go back into themovie in a second For the most
part it's a mutual respect toeach other.
Yeah, like you know, you havepeople confronting each other,
like when they weigh in andstuff like that, like the whole
big show thing but at and stufflike that, like like the whole
(31:25):
big show thing.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
But at the end of the
day, like you see them like dab
each other up towards the end, which I like seeing that too.
You know like it's a mutualrespect right there.
Yeah, yeah, and um, it reallydepends on the relationship too.
Yeah, um, me personally I lookat as all right if, if we're
talking shit the whole two weeks, I'm thinking like, if I'm in
ufc now, if we're talking shitover facebook, instagram, all
that, and then we get there andI get my ass whooped, I lost.
(31:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna humbly acceptmy loss and then go from there.
Yeah, if we can run it back,we'll run it back pretty cool,
pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Are you running back
with that one guy yet?
No not yet no plans to I don'tknow um I mean, would you like
to?
Speaker 1 (32:01):
I should say you know
last I heard and me and him are
cool yeah he's a great guy.
Um last I heard he was supposedto fight mma and I haven't seen
him fight, so um, so you'rewinning right now I, I guess, I,
I guess the win is from a loss.
You know, because I saw some ofmy team win and lose and really
(32:25):
, like you win, you get thishigh and it's gone.
You lose, go back in the laband work from that.
You know, everyone learns froma loss in life.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Some people have no
losses in their record and
that's respect yeah, it's prettyimpressive so, uh, from that
loss, I appreciate even himstepping in the ring with me
yeah, yeah, man, going back tothe movie, a little bit like
jake won and lost at the sametime.
Not jake dalton, yeah, um, thereason he's even at this resort
(33:05):
being a bouncer is because he,I'm assuming, got kicked.
I don't know if he got kickedout of mma or yeah, yeah,
because he, yeah, he got kickedout, yeah kicked out of mma.
Um, he killed someone in thering by accident.
He lost control, you know, andhe got angrier get the best of
him and he did a finishing blowto this guy and I think his
friend too.
He ended up killing him in thering and, um, it's a big no-no.
(33:27):
Did you know, during thoseflashback scenes and the mma,
like I don't know if youremember watching this, but like
they filmed that during actualmma fights, yeah, like in
between them, I remember themfilming that, like I was
watching the fights with myfriends and, um, you know, in
between these fights they wouldcome out for a little bit and do
like a little fighting andstuff like that.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
That was cool as hell
, I thought.
I think it was an actual liveevent, I think it was like 2019,
2020 one of those two.
Yeah, it was an actual live ufcevent and actual crowd and I I
don't know if everyone knew thatwas gonna happen, but I think
think it was pre-planned.
Yeah, with Dana White, thepresident of the UFC, and I
(34:06):
thought it was pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
I thought that was
very cool, Because on the mat
you see blood.
That was real blood from thosefights, from that day too.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yeah, that was pretty
cool.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
That was very cool.
Going back to the movie alittle bit, there's a whole big
scale in those between politicsand the cops wanting to rule the
city.
Not even the cops, the specificfamily.
I thought the motive was prettystupid.
The whole reason they startedall this mess messing with those
bars is because they wanted toknock it down and build condos
and shit like that Stuff tobuild up the city to charge rich
(34:36):
people like a resort.
So I thought that was kind of aridiculous plot line alone yeah,
I mean, I mean I was like, whynot just build around this thing
and make that one of a tourspot?
Speaker 1 (34:47):
well, besides the
storyline of this movie, how
many movies have you seen likethat?
a lot exactly, so yeah I couldsee your kids like, obviously
like I'm not a movie guy likeyou, but I could see why you
think it sucks because you'relooking at this movie of tearing
it down.
Let's make real estate, yeah, which we'll talk about my real
(35:08):
estate business later but Icould see because you've seen so
many movies a hundred timesmore than I have so I understand
where you're getting at, howmany like whether there was guns
involved or it was like uh I'mthinking about it's probably
there wasn't more guns involvedin this movie yeah, I mean I'm
(35:30):
surprised with conor mcgregorwalking in with that gang, like
you think.
Gang guns yeah, like I.
I was surprised with a golfclub yeah, he's walking around
the golf club and he's gettingstabbed at the end and then
walking out of the hospitalnaked.
Like is that?
Is that showing that they'regonna make another one?
Speaker 2 (35:49):
I think they did
confirm a second one is coming.
You're gonna hate it.
I am, um, you know what.
Hopefully it's better.
This came out amazon as anamazon prime original.
It came out streaming rightaway.
This movie did have plans for atheatrical release but the
studio got cold feet.
They were worried about peoplewere going to compare this too
much to the original Roadhouse.
(36:11):
So instead the director waspissed about it first of all and
then they started to put it onthe streaming one, which it did
get a lot of hate coming out ofthis movie.
But that way I believe you canhide the numbers like how much
views and stuff like thatdonald's got, once it's
streaming they don't have torelease them I look at it as if
they're gonna make another one.
It's just for fun you know, obviously they gotta make their
(36:32):
money, but they're just havingfun which I'm sure jake's doing
it just for the money you knowit's.
Does he need it though?
Exactly.
He's such a good actor.
He's probably my top 20 actorsof all time, I'll say right now
oh, yeah, yeah um I put him upthere, yeah yeah he's a good guy
.
He's like I said it is.
(36:53):
He just couldn't carryeverybody in this movie like the
bar owner.
I like her a lot as an actress.
She was kind of ridiculous.
There was very cheesy dialoguein this movie.
I want to tell you one line inthis movie To give you an
example of how stupid thisdialogue was.
It was like, hey, what are youbuilding?
Or what are you carving A stick?
(37:15):
Well, what are you carving astick for?
Because I want to?
That was legit a line in thefucking movie Like what are you
calling a stick for?
Because I want to?
That was legit a line in thefucking movie.
Like what are we doing here?
Like, who is making up thischeesy dialogue?
It has like I feel like aperson wrote this but then ai
edited it.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
you know, yeah,
exactly, and um, honestly, if I
had a conversation with someonelike that, I kind of be worried
about myself because, like Iwould think they're crazy.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
So this movie seemed
like it was produced by spike TV
.
You remember that?
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Oh man, that's a good
, that's a good comparison.
Yeah, I know I say like themovie, but I just like that.
I just think it's interesting.
That kind of McGregor outcomeof this movie was this like
that's the only positive I cangive about this movie is kind of
McGregor outcome of this moviewas this like that's the only
positive I can give about thismovie is Conor McGregor.
Conor McGregor being, I don'twant to say perfect, but that
(38:09):
was his perfect personality forhis actor acting debut.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, it's an
exaggerated version of like
someone like himself.
Yeah, yeah.
You can definitely tell he hadfun with the role too.
He definitely had fun, cause heloves that scene like before
you go off of this, like thatscene where freaking uh dalton
gets ran off the road, off abridge with a truck and the
truck falls on top of it.
He's.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
He's totally fine
from that yeah, I mean, anyone
else would have been it's.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
This movie is like
cheesy almost like vin diesel in
the fast and Furious in thismovie.
Oh yeah, this guy got stabbedlike six times with a stick and
he was totally fine, a thick one.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Yeah, it was no way,
and he took it out of his body
and stabbed Conor McGregor withit too.
And in the angle it was too itwasn't just straight through, it
was up and down, up and down,up and down.
Yeah, I know, I know I'msurprised.
I'm saying that because I getcringy like that, but he just
(39:06):
walks out of the hospital likehe's fine yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Like that kind of
stuff, like destroys your
muscles where you can't evenmove If McGregor does any other
movie I could see him joiningthe Fast and Furious family.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
could see that.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
I don't think him and
vin diesel will get along,
though.
No, no, I could totally seethat, I think vin diesel has his
own way of acting, andespecially with those movies
he's very control of yeah, Imean there's 10 of them yeah I
think connor would open hismouth too much.
Yeah, I could see that yeah, open his mouth too much.
Yeah, I can see that.
Yeah, what would you give thismovie a 1 out of 10?
(39:44):
Roadhouse.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Roadhouse 6 out of 10
.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
6 out of 10 is very
generous.
I'd probably give it a 3 out of10.
See, I don't know what yourratings are like, because you
can say my ratings are based offof rewatchability, the
chemistry.
Well, you know how Dave Portnoyit is with his pizza review.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
You can say, my
readings are based on like
rewatch ability, like thechemistry, um well, well, you
know how, dave Portnoy, it iswith uh like a 6.8 is good to
him.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Yeah, you know, like
a D, I mean, if the entity is
seven and higher is like mustsee movie for me.
Yeah.
Like three or below is like donot waste your time with this
movie.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Yeah, or below is
like do not waste your time with
this movie.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah, I mean have you
seen this movie more than once?
Once and a half see like, yeahit's, it's entertaining to watch
, to have it on the background.
I should say yeah, absolutelyyeah.
If you want to make a wholenight out of it, I wouldn't make
picking, recommend picking.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
You know what's crazy
is I watched it when I was at
work.
Yeah, I was watching because Iused to work at the railroad and
we got done with our work so Ijust kicked everyone out.
But I have to stay because Iwas the manager.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
And I just watched it
with my buddy.
I had to stay too so justwatching it, I thought it was
great.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Yeah, in a certain
scenario like that maybe.
But if you want a date night orsomething like that, or even
just a night with your boys.
Maybe with your boys it mightbe entertaining.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Yeah, a date night
with a girl, no there's so many
more.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Prime is putting out
heat.
Actually lately I've beenwatching a lot of Prime and
Apple TV lately.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
I know you're not a
really big movie guy.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
What do you really
like to watch, though?
Oh man um are, we are wetalking tv shows too.
Yeah, okay, um, I've re-watchedsupernatural like three times.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
I've never seen that
okay, 15 seasons long.
You watched all 15 seasonsthree times.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Get out of here a lot
of times it was background
noise too, and I'm not saying itwas bad, it was because I know
what's happening.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
But they actually did
and if anyone's listening that
loves Supernatural, theyactually just made a new picture
on their whatchamacallit ontheir Facebook, so they might be
coming out with a 16th season.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Isn't that the one
where, like that main
character's wife, like try toput a hit on him?
Have you heard about that, ohman?
No it's one of the maintenance.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
Two guys right it's
uh, two brothers, jared
padalecki and jensen ackles.
Jensen ackles played in theboys and jared padalecki played
walker.
That was like a short-lived, uhthree season show, but um, if
you saw him you may know I wantto say it's what are their wives
(42:31):
?
Jared padulaki was in thegilmore girls too oh, yeah, yeah
, it might have been him hiswife.
He's still married to his wifeand his life was actually in the
show yeah, are you talkingabout in the show or in real
life?
Speaker 2 (42:43):
in real life, oh, I
don't know I've never heard that
I would have heard supernatural, if I'm not mistaken I would
have heard that um, supposedlyshe started doing a pen pal with
this person in prison and theyended up falling.
I don't know if they fell inlove or something like that.
The guy in prison definitelyfell in love and he would get a
contraband.
He got a phone like illegally inthe car and they started
(43:05):
texting each other and they wereright like oh man, I wish we
could be together and stuff likethat and like, yeah, but like,
and so they stopped him all.
Like I wish I could just, likeyou know, kill my husband.
And so she convinces him tohire somebody to kill her
husband.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
I'll have to Google
this.
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
This is actually
pretty recent too.
I don't think it may be JensenAckles, but not Jared.
So then he gets his phonecaught by the police, although
the guards there and you're notsupposed to have this, so
they're going through, and theystarted reading through the
messages and they put two andtwo together like, yeah, this
guy's trying to fucking get hishusband or this kill his husband
, this woman's husband and, um,she got arrested recently, so
(43:46):
maybe it's a totally differentshow I'm thinking about.
I'm pretty sure it'ssupernatural well, um long story
short.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
Supernatural is two
brothers, two brothers who
basically come together, havefake aliases that um go around
the country, fight ghosts, demons I thought it was a real
reality show no, no, no, no, no.
Uh, that's probably where yougot it from, maybe no.
Supernatural is two brotherswho fight ghost demons, all that
(44:16):
, and they're all in human form, like ghouls.
They have this human form.
They kill them.
There's certain ways to killthem and it's like 15 seasons
long.
I could see you not liking it,because in the first five
(44:37):
seasons because it was supposedto end after five, season five
then they added another 10seasons, so, um, the first five
seasons come together, butafterwards it's like whole new
story.
Whole new story.
Who's the big boss that we'rekilling?
You know that kind of thing.
They fight lucifer.
They fight michael.
Um, god chosen the picture.
God's god has a sister.
Um, it's pretty interesting, Ithink you should get interesting
you know, you know I, becausethey started in 2005 yeah so I
think you should give that showa shot interesting.
Speaker 2 (44:59):
I just got done
watching invincible the prime
like cartoon oh really, what'sthat about?
It's based on a comic bookseries like really yeah, yeah,
I'll show you some footage fromit later, but like, yeah,
brandon cole put me on that andI can see that.
Yeah, dude, like I finished itmaybe like a week or two ago, I
already really want to re-watchit.
It was freaking amazing it'sstill going.
(45:20):
It's a show with, like stephen, young voices of the character.
The main character, uh jksimmons, is voicing character
seth rogan it's a big castreally by voice actors.
Yeah, um, before we go anyfurther, I have a whole other
movie I want to review realquick.
I know you haven't seen thismovie yet, but it's the amateur
starring Rami Malek and LawrenceFishburne that just came out.
I was excited to see this.
This is probably the best movieI've seen in 2025 yet in
(45:43):
theaters.
It's a remake from the 80s, too, based off a book.
Actually, you know that of abook.
Actually, you know, that's whatI googled.
What's that?
When I googled?
it, that's what I saw, that wasthe best 2025, no, no, no, that
was based off the 80s, yeah, which I started watching the
movie it's on hulu right now, yeah, and um, I mean the movie
itself.
It looks like something I couldtake my iphone with now, just
(46:03):
record like, I mean, it'snothing groundbreaking, but the
premise this is, it's technologybased in that time, yeah, but
the plot was great in that movieand this is a similar plot,
which is more modern, in thisone.
But, it's movies about.
When his supervisors at the CIArefuse to take action after his
wife is killed in a Londonterrorist attack, a decoder
(46:24):
takes matters into his own hands.
Like I said, starring RobbieMalick, this movie was directed
by James Halls and Ken NolanSorry, written by Ken Nolan,
gary Spinelli and Robert Littell.
You know who Robbie Malick, notRobbie Rami Malick, is correct.
He played Bohemian Rhapsody.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, youknow him.
(46:45):
You've seen him a hundred times.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Yes, he's an.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
A-list actor and man,
his is acting great in this
movie.
I went opening night at fiveo'clock on a thursday.
There was only one other personin the theater, insane to me.
Did you talk to him?
No?
Speaker 1 (47:01):
I wish I did I.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
I wish I had the more
confidence to do stuff like
that in theaters, which I don'tknow why I don't, because, like,
I could get that, because Ihave an easy and I have a
podcast.
We're talking about movies.
I just want to get people'sintake.
But yeah, I went with mygirlfriend and then there was
only one other person in thetheater beside us.
This movie was phenomenal.
I actually can't wait to go seethis movie again.
When are you gonna go see it?
(47:22):
Uh, you're gonna go see intheaters, or I would love to see
in theaters again.
Actually, I want to take likemy dad or something like that.
Who's into it?
It's a thriller, but there'slike and there's actual killings
in this movie, but there's likeno blood at all.
Did you go to amc or?
Speaker 1 (47:34):
imagine, amc, because
I, because I'm so, so stubborn.
I will only go to imagine I, Ican't.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
If imagine was a
little bit closer, I would go
there I I mean I'll take thedrive, I'm not gonna lie like I
might make the switch eventually.
I love amc.
I'm at the point now where I goto the movies, so much I know
they recognize me there.
The manager's like well, saywhat's up to me or ask me what
movie I'm seeing, which is verycool.
I guess I don't get recognizedto get free popcorn and all that
(48:02):
.
Yet you should, that'd be tight, that'd be tight.
So, anyways, this movie, heplays this very timid almost.
So, anyways, this movie, heplays this very timid, almost
like a.
Peter Parker vibe, very nerdish, skittish kid who doesn't.
You can tell he doesn't takeany risk in his life because his
wife's a journalist who wastraveling to London and she even
asked him to go with them.
But he's kind of afraid offlying and he's kind of afraid
(48:30):
of social interactions.
Basically like no, go hunting,go without me, have a good time.
And he kind of puts guilt onhimself because he tells her to
go and he could have went withher and even then like he
thought, like she calls him, I'mkind of tired, I want to go to
sleep.
I'll tell you no, go, maybehave a girl, you know, go with
your colleagues and stuff likethat.
And according to sure enough, like where she's at, like that's
what the terrorist attackhappens.
So there's a bunch of guilt onhim like that, on this.
And he he's a very good at hisjob as an analyst, as a
(48:54):
researcher for the cia.
He finds out everything aboutit.
Like it's almost scary in thismovie too how much cameras are
honest too, because it's inlondon, there's a ton of cameras
everywhere versus like securitycameras or like just people
holding cell phones.
He's able to like to puttogether the whole scene like 3d
model just from the camera, angels alone, and there's four
suspects and he's able toidentify three of them through
(49:17):
voice analyst too.
Um, and he goes to cia with allthis information and they
pretty much don't want to doanything about it because, like
these are four guys, like fourlittle drops in the big ocean,
like they're, they're wanting toget the big ocean and that's
how they're not taking it,taking immediate action and then
he finds out like like ci, someof the ci operatives are dirty
um so he finds out more thanwhat
(49:39):
yeah, and he says like fuck it,I'm gonna go after myself.
He doesn't want to help.
So he ends up blackmailing thecia like I'm gonna expose you
guys, like unless you like, giveme cia training and like new
identities so he can go afterthemselves.
So they do that and he ends upgoing after themselves.
Lawrence Fishburne plays theguy who trains him, and he's
also hunting him too, becausehe's I don't want to spoil too
(50:00):
much but he's after Rami'scharacter as well, and so he's
not only trying to find theseguys without being noticed, he's
also avoiding the CIA runningaway from the.
CIA.
He's against all country now.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
So now, now I have
one question, yeah, that
hopefully it doesn't and feelfree not to answer if it doesn't
spoil it.
But when you said he'sblackmailing the cia, I think
when if you even think to dothat, they'll just find a way to
kill you.
That's how smart he is he.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
That's how smart this
guy's character.
He makes a kill switch, like hesays like if you guys kill me,
if you guys arrest me, if youguys do anything, if I don't put
my codes in like the certainwebsite or computer, whatever it
is, every five hours all yourinformation is going to get
leaked to the press, to like theworld wide web, everything, so
everything.
That's how he gets away withblackmailing them.
That until they buy time.
(50:50):
So, of course, why he's in ciatraining and all that they're
tearing up his office, they'retearing up his house trying to
find anything, and I don't spoiltoo much what happens with that
part, but, um, he's always onestep ahead of them.
And this is like a thrillerkind of like, where it's like
having you guess an entire timeof how things are connecting.
So much for amateur type exactlyso much for amateur he can't
(51:10):
kill in the sense of like take agun boom yeah, no he's just not
that kind of guy.
He doesn't have that in him.
But he kills people morecreatively in a way where, like,
he can try to justify it beingguilt-free.
Um, john burndall's in thismovie as well too.
He was a small cameo but hischaracter was big in this movie.
There is a moment, there's acouple times in the movie, where
I felt like I wish they hadthis big in this movie.
(51:30):
There is a moment there's acouple times in the movie where
I felt like I wish they had thischaracter in this movie, like a
kind type of character, like Iwish there was a character like
where they almost try to talkhim out of it, like your wife
would have want this, you knowyou should go home and stuff
like that.
And there is a character thatshows up later.
It's like, oh man, they didcover all bases almost.
I don't think I would get thesame effect while re-watching
(51:51):
this movie because I alreadyknow what's going to happen, but
watching it for the first timein theaters was phenomenal.
Like I didn't check my watchonce, the whole movie, which is
very impressive to me becauseit's a two hour long movie, and
um, he, robbie malick, is justso fucking good in this movie
great supporting cast.
The villains in this movie aregreat.
Um yeah, I have nothing butgreat things to say about this
(52:13):
movie.
This is probably a good 8 or 9out of 10 for me.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
Wow, I'm going to
have to find my ticket on the
engine.
Yeah, because I'm long overdueto go to the movies anyway.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
Have you gone this
year yet alone?
Speaker 1 (52:28):
Did I yes once.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
Where did you go see?
What was it?
Speaker 1 (52:33):
it was the one I
texted about.
What was it?
What was that one?
Speaker 2 (52:36):
oh, the chick flick
yeah um, I don't even think I've
seen that yet.
What was that movie?
Speaker 1 (52:43):
long story short um
forgetting actors, but it was
pretty inspiring how to turnyour life.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Oh, it was zach levi
in um the unbreakable boy
unbreakable boy.
Yeah, it's a that man when itlooks like it's meant to make
you cry?
Speaker 1 (52:58):
yeah, um, I I think I
saw a couple people crying
there yeah, but um, it's a truestory too yeah and um.
What's crazy is like thosepeople are still living, so um.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
I haven't seen that
myself.
Um, zach Levi, who plays a dadin that movie.
I'm a big fan of his.
He's man.
Almost any actor is always inthe controversy.
He's another actor on thereunder fire right now.
Really yeah, With the solesupport of Trump and some of the
things he said out there too.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
Like he supports
Trump to yes like he supports
trump.
Yeah, which is the opposite ofrachel zegler's right now.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Who's against trump?
Yeah, um, I'll tell you this.
So it's, it's really a movie.
That's for eye-opening way ofjust saying um, you started
somewhere, went low and thenworked your way back up in your
relationship you, um, you toldme you went on a first date to
see this movie and I texted you.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
I was like that's a
good movie, but I don't know if
I'll go on the first date to seeit.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
You know what?
She's the one that picked themovie, yeah, so I respect her
wishes.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:05):
So I haven't talked
to her though.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
Oh sorry,
unfortunately, yeah, I don't
know if that was your nextquestion, but I wasn't going to
ask you about the podcast but.
Speaker 1 (54:14):
But Is there any?
Speaker 2 (54:17):
other movies coming
out that you're looking forward
to see, that you would want togo see.
Not that I'm aware of I thinkI've suggested to you for this
month.
I don't know if you've seen theAccountant.
The Accountant 2 is coming outwith ben affleck and john
bernthal gotcha.
(54:38):
That one looks very good.
I haven't even seen the firstone.
You should definitely check itout um next week, brandon cole's
coming on for sinners, themichael b jordan movies.
It's like a vampire movievampire killer movie michael b
jordan yeah, killing vampires.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
Or is a vampire?
Speaker 2 (54:45):
I don't know if it
because of vampire the movie.
Hayley steinfeld plays his loveinterest in the movie.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
That sounds
interesting.
Michael B Jordan I see him moreas an athlete actor type deal.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
After Creed, black
Panther.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
He's great Talk about
someone who changes his body
too.
Speaker 2 (55:04):
Yeah, I would say I
almost Hate to make this
comparison, but I think he mightbe our generation's Denzel
Washington.
Hot take, hot take, hot take.
Are you a big superhero fan?
Superheroes Like the FantasticFour is coming out, the
(55:27):
Thunderbolts are coming out in acouple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (55:30):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (55:30):
Obviously, you can
see I'm a big super hero fan too
.
Oh yeah, absolutely I mean I doenjoy them.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
It's like following
them.
I don't have a problem.
It's just like you know, likepeople have these crazy I don't
want to say crazy, that's notthe word I want to use but but
they get into intenseconversations yeah about
storylines, what it could havemeant, what it could not have
meant.
I think it's interesting, butI'm so far behind I definitely
(55:58):
can't catch up.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
It is an intimidating
pull.
That's the reason why I cameinto Star Wars.
That's a big one to jump into.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
I know a lot of
people who have their whole
bodies tattooed with Star Wars.
You can make some cool tattoosout of it.
But, um, yeah, definitely, butum, even with superheroes.
But when it comes tosuperheroes, um, I'm honestly
like for movies for me, I'llwatch them for the fight scenes.
To be honest, I I like whetherthey're fake or not yeah, I
(56:30):
think they're cool though.
Look at the editing.
Like Iron man, the way he'sable to fly around and all that.
Speaker 2 (56:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:36):
And do all that.
I think it's cool.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
It's very, very cool.
You would like Invincible.
It's a cartoon, but it'sfucking amazing.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
Before you go, you do
have a big MMA fight coming up
at your debut.
Yeah, you go you do have a bigmma fighting, come on.
But your debut, yeah.
What are the dates of time onthat?
Speaker 1 (56:53):
um june 7th.
From what I remember, I believethe first fight starts at six
or seven where's that?
It'll be at the gary union hallfor the steel mill union hall,
nice, so um, it'll be there.
It's actually my coach's ownpersonal promotion, so he's
running the promotion.
(57:14):
And I couldn't be any more happyfor him because he puts on a
good show.
My first two fights were at hisgym.
It was like a little promotionjust to get your feet wet type
thing for fighters.
So the term is called smoker.
So for this to be MMA.
Honestly, he's got some coolsponsors and everything, so
(57:37):
hopefully I think he got one ofthe casinos to sponsor him.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
Nice, where can?
Speaker 1 (57:44):
people buy tickets or
if they want to go.
So if you follow me onInstagram, I'm going to be
posting about a lot.
You can go on Instagram andfollow CK Fighting or look up
premier mma.
You can find the information onthere.
There'll be a link in their bio.
I am not sure if he's gettingtickets.
The old school way was to gettickets printed out and sell
(58:04):
them to people and we we becamelike us fighters really became
and I'm saying like I'veactually fought before, but I'm
thinking my brother and otherpeople but we become business
people trying to sell thesetickets yeah like I remember my
friend fighting a couple yearsago doing that.
So, um, for I don't know if he'sgoing to be doing that I.
I don't see why he wouldn't dothat.
Speaker 2 (58:25):
But, um, you can get
a ticket online or you can
contact me and you talk up yeah,um, do you have a goal with
this kind of career, like withthis like?
Speaker 1 (58:37):
you want to be like
in the pros or you know a lot of
people ask that, but I saidthis in an interview because I
was supposed to fight kickboxingand they want to do another
interview with me.
But I gotta tell my, tell them.
My kickboxing fight is off, soI'm going to use that
opportunity to promote my MMAfight.
So I'm kind of sneaking that in.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
So don't tell anyone.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
But I'm just going
with the flow man.
I got real estate happening.
I got fighting happening.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
Real estate agent, my
day MMA fighter by night.
Right, that's a t-shirt, rightthere, yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:13):
Right Um, you should
see the new gloves I got custom
made Uh yeah.
Yeah, I'll give you a little.
I'll give you a little hand.
Um, I won't tell you about thegraphic, but there's a with that
.
I'm just having fun man.
(59:34):
I'm really having fun.
If I don't ever become pro, I'mgoing to keep this in my back
pocket because I can become ablack belt in jiu-jitsu or
something.
I'm going to get as many fightsas I can.
If I can make it to the top,I'll make it to the top.
Call out Conor McGregor.
Maybe He'll be probably farretired before then.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
It'd be cool to meet
him at least.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Yeah, it'd be awesome
.
But just the people I get tomeet in the scene.
They're people that I get tolook up to, that put in the
grind, that do more than what Ido now.
With this career real, I meanreal estate when, when it starts
booming, I'll have a lot offree time too.
It's.
It's really like a way for meto discipline myself and in
(01:00:23):
routine.
So that's what I'm getting outof it that's pretty sick man.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
I'll probably be
probably be there.
I'll check it out.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Absolutely that
sounds fun.
Absolutely Sounds fun.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Sounds scary.
That's not my lifestyle at all.
I'm a big Sally.
Someone punched me in the face.
I'm definitely going to cry.
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
And you know what you
know, even if you don't train
like it's, it's okay to be a fanof fighting Like fighting like
um.
If you do come, I'll try mybest to communicate with you,
because my first two fights.
But, um, from my advice topeople who buy tickets, just buy
the damn ticket and put in theaddress in your gps and go man,
because, um, we have to mentallyprepare are you the main card?
(01:01:06):
um, I don't know where I am whenit comes.
I'm not the main event, but, um, I don't know where I'll be
standing in the fight, but, uh,both of us will be making our
MMA debut me and my opponent, so, uh, so that that's going to be
interesting.
I don't know what he fightslike, um, I'm just going to go
in there, be myself how exciting, how exciting and have the fun
(01:01:28):
I can, because know thedifference is I'm in the cage
alone.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
No, one's here to
help me.
That's man, that's tough.
Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
Yeah, it's tough,
that's guts, that's guts.
I couldn't do that, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
Chris, good luck to
your fight.
Dude, Good luck on your fight.
Like I said, we got a couplemonths away, but you got a lot
of time trading, so you're.
You're going to be thevictorious at this one.
I'm manifesting it, but thankyou so much for coming to the
podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
I appreciate you,
brother, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
There's a lot more
fighting movies we could
definitely talk about, so I'dlove to have you back on
Absolutely Postpone fight.
Maybe We'll talk aboutrecapping your fight a little
bit, but next week BrandonCole's coming back on the
podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
He mostly comes zoom
because you know that guy
travels everywhere, um yeah, Idon't know how he doesn't like I
see, I see him on snapchat andI go sick invite.
I want to be in kentucky rightnow.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Yeah I think he lives
there, kentucky, without
mistaken.
He doesn't live out here, nomore dude, I I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
And brandon, if you
see this, I'm sorry we haven't
talked or hung out in a while, but um, man, I'm just glad he's
doing well.
I hope he's doing well, but umI see him, all of him and his
friends him and his friends.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Yeah, they're so
tight, all from high school also
middle school, yeah, middleschool even some from elementary
, like danny.
Danny's been on this podcastbefore, I think danny alex and
uh, brandon sweats.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Is he around?
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
uh, he might be part
of his crew.
If I'm saying I, I those guys,I really don't keep up with you
much, but they, they from Iremember.
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
I remember they used
to throw great parties, so
they're, they're all very atight group yeah and I'm so
thrilled for them.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
They're so friends
not just friends, but like best
friends and they're close.
They also hang out regularly.
I haven't seen my best friendlike in three weeks right.
Honestly, I I don't know whybrandon hasn't started a youtube
channel yeah, I've talked, I'vetalked to him about that before
and um, he they, you know theydo like a.
They started the beer olympicsthat's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
They do every stuff.
Yeah, I don't know why they'rerecording and putting on youtube
exactly yeah, I should talk tohim about that because I'll
definitely do, because, likehe's so much good, all those
guys have great energy.
Yeah, I I don't know if they'veever talked about it, but
brandon started youtube.
Man, I'll watch.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Yeah, I will watch he
um, I think they I love they
still do this stuff like they do, like, uh, like a rom-com
sundays they all get togetherwatch rom-coms.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
Dude, it's like I see
the stuff that like it's like
perfect content you.
Yeah, game night, freaking,rom-com, sundays, beer Olympics.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
I mean dude, yeah,
he's a good kid.
I got to link up with him.
He's a big family man too,because he's very supportive
with his nieces and nephews, andall that too.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
Yeah, he had, from
what I remember, a pretty big
family.
Yeah, a twin sister.
Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
Yeah, we haven't seen
her.
I don and uh, yeah, we haven'tseen her.
I don't even know she's aroundthis area, so we're not.
I don't either, but from Iremember she.
She got in the army too for alittle bit.
Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
think she's married now.
Well, obviously with kids.
But, yeah, married with kids, yeah, um, for her.
We'll talk more about thisstuff on camera.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
I guess everyone
cares about this yeah but, uh,
next week, uh, we'll talk aboutsinners.
I believe it's the next moviecoming out with brandon call.
I'm excited to get into that.
Um, once again, chris, thanksfor coming on the podcast
everyone next week, where I'llbe saving a seat.
