Is love in the air or just a great movie night? Join me and my valentine, Janeil Hampton, as we share our passion for films, especially the romantic comedies that tug at our heartstrings. With Janeil's unique habit of meticulously logging each film on Letterboxd, we embark on a nostalgic journey through the 90s, featuring gems like "The Wedding Singer" and "Only You." Our cinematic ride doesn't just stop at romance; we also explore Janeil's fascination with the horror classic "Nosferatu" and our shared excitement for the upcoming Super Bowl as we cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Do you believe in destiny or does love require a bit of deception? Through laughter and lively debate, we unpack the whimsical plot of "Only You," where mistaken identities lead to an enchanting yet comedic romance between Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei. From Ouija boards to quirky encounters in Rome, we dissect the elements of spontaneity versus stability, and the intricate dance of love and deception. Janeil and I reflect on the captivating dynamic between the characters, pondering how these themes play out in real-life relationships.

Our cinematic chat wouldn't be complete without a spotlight on Adam Sandler's "The Wedding Singer." From humorous heartbreak to a heartfelt romance, we explore the film's charm and why it remains a favorite. The comedic chemistry between Sandler and Drew Barrymore, infused with an unforgettable 80s soundtrack, provides the perfect backdrop for this feel-good movie discussion. Whether you're a rom-com devotee or just enjoy reminiscing about iconic 90s films, this episode promises laughter, love, and a sprinkle of nostalgia.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
you log it after every single, every single movie
I watch, I'm gonna log it onthere do you do like playlists,
like for your favorites, andstuff like that?

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I I need to start doing that I'm not really that
into it.
You know, really no I juststarted using it a couple years
ago.
I like it because you can trackhow many movies you've seen.
I guess how many movies I'veseen last year.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
I'm gonna say 250 254 .

Speaker 1 (01:11):
That was really close .
That was really close.
Yeah, but I go to the moviesall the time.
We've known each other for likeless than a month, but we've
gone to the movies like threetimes already.
What has been Last year, let'stalk about last year a little
bit.
What's some of your favoritemovies from last year, 2024?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
well, nosferatu for sure, number one, dang it, I'm
blanking, I'm sorry it's okay.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Well, let's talk about what kind of movies you
like first of all okay, well,rom-coms that's perfect, because
we're talking about rom-comsfor our valentine's day episode
comedy like mystery.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Those are really nice so comedy mystery.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Um, so we're going to be talking about two movies.
They're both going to bethrowback movies for those
listening.
Both set in the 90s, happenedby accident, but I'm glad I
watched them.
You picked a movie that I'venever seen before and I was
pretty excited to talk aboutbecause it was a pretty good
movie, and I picked my all-timefavorite adam sandler movie, the
wedding singer.
Um, let's talk about your movie, because we'll go into yours in

(02:14):
just a second, or mine in justa second, and uh, but we're
going to be talking about onlyyou, with robert downey jr and
marissa tomei.
How did you?
I wouldn't do you rememberwatching this for the first time
?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
yeah, um, I had that on hulu so I was scrolling and I
saw on hulu, I was like, okay, what's this?
And then put it on and that wasit.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I forget all the time that both those actors are 90
stars, you know, because they'vebeen in so much since then.
But marissa tomei, she was in,like my cousin vinny, and you
know all a bunch of stuff likethat she's a great actress she
is.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
She's pretty good.
Um, I know her from a differentworld, first season and that's
that's where I met marissa tomei, and then I saw her in like
everything else I don't thinkI've noticed her in that.
Well, I've seen that actuallyshe was in the very first, very
first season, um, and after thatshe left.
She didn't finish it, soprobably because she's a movie
star now.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Well, yeah, I guess yeah, I'm actually watching a
movie in the background likeCrazy, Stupid Love.
I forgot she's in that movietoo.
I like doing that when younotice an actor and you notice
them in all of them.
We are recording this rightbefore Super Bowl, like really
like two hours before Super Bowlstarts.
We're going to go watch thegame just to keep Super Bowl on
the topic.

(03:20):
But like, who do you root for?

Speaker 3 (03:23):
The Eagles Philadelphia.
So just the topic but like whodo you wouldn't root for um the
eagles philadelphia, so justbecause.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Is that why you're in green today?

Speaker 3 (03:28):
yeah, I guess, so I wasn't even thinking about that.
But you have to like root forsomebody, and, and when I think
of philadelphia I think of likeelementary.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
So when I think of philadelphia I think of Kevin
Hart.
That's kind of bad.
Not bad, I guess.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I guess I mean yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You watch that show frequently I love that show.
I haven't caught up recentlythough.
Well, I've seen clips of it onTikTok.
It looks hilarious.
It is really funny.
But the only reason I reallywant to watch it is because
they're doing a crossoverepisode with Always Sunny in
Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Do you watch that show?
My mom saw the episode.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I haven't seen it yet Is it funny, she say it's funny
.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I think, yeah, Nice.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Nice.
I'm excited for that.
I love watching Always Sunny inPhiladelphia.
Now going into Valentine's Day,let's talk about Valentine's
Day a little bit.
Are you traditional Valentine'sLike go to dinner dates and
then you know like chill justchill.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I think I've never had to do anything like that
nothing crazy no, just stayinghome and like eating chocolate
and watching tv, that's pretty, sounds pretty.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Ideal for me.
Remember back in the day howsimple it was in school when
everyone would buy like candyfor the whole class and
everything yeah, that was prettycool.
And have the party at the end, yeah, yeah, you had to make your
own little box for the cardsand everything that was pretty
cool, um, but valentine's daymovies.
It's a big, not big year.
It's just around the time ofthe year all these rom-coms come

(04:53):
out.
I just talked about companion, the other last episode.
Um, there's been a great coupleof movies coming out.
Do you remember going to themovies around valentine's?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
day?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
no, not really, to be honest, I mean I remember one
year I don't remember the nameof it, maybe you know that it's
like a.
It was a romance movie, butlike this guy it was like this
guy was a cowboy or somethinglike that.
He worked on a farm, it was big.
It was probably like 10 yearsago now and I remember I was
supposed to go see it withsomeone, but it was sold out.

(05:24):
So we ended up going and seeinga Liam Neeson action movie
instead.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
I don't know what you're talking about.
I don't know what you'retalking about.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I haven't heard no one talk about it since then, so
it wasn't that good.
You're big into romance movies,though.
What are some of your favoriteromance?

Speaker 3 (05:38):
movies.
Okay, well, Moonstruck.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Moonstruck is a good one.
We Moonstruck is a good one.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
We almost had it on this podcast, but it's already
been on this podcast.
Then I would say Only you, thatone's pretty good Dang.
I can't think of anything elseright now, romance movies is
like.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
There's like well, these are romance comedies.
51st Dates is a good one.
Eternal Sunshine with JimCarrey have you seen that?

Speaker 3 (06:06):
one.
I haven't seen any of the onesyou're listing so far.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
That one's pretty good.
You haven't seen 50 Shades ofGrey?
No, what, wait, wait, wait.
50 First Dates Okay, no, Ihaven't seen that one either.
But I love romantic comedymovies.
I mean, that's so cheesy and, trust me, the movies we're going

(06:31):
to be talking about today aresuper cheesy.
But, um, I want to just divedeep into this, going into your
movie first.
Um, we're gonna be talkingabout only you.
Came out 1994, both of usweren't around yet and, uh, for
those you don't know, it cameout 1994 as a teen, faith was
told that her destiny was a mannamed Damon Bradley.
Years later, she decided tomarry someone else.
A Damon Bradley calls to wishhim well and Faith blows off her

(06:52):
wedding to follow Damon toItaly.
Starring people like MarissaTomei, robert Downey Jr, bonnie
Hunt, directed by Norman Jewisonand written by Diane Drake.
First, how many times have youseen this movie?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Probably about five times now.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Five times?
Yeah, I would see this movieagain.
Probably not five times worth.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
I mean it's like a comfort movie now at this point.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
It is a comfort movie , I'll give you that.
It is very good, but it'scheesy.
It's so cheesy.
I have hella notes here forthis movie.
I'll give you that.
It is very good, but, um, it'scheesy.
It's so cheesy.
I have hella notes here forthis movie.
Let's see, let's go down thelist, because we're just going
to go down.
Like you know, the plot line alittle bit.
For those of you who don't know, I just gave a very good
description of the movie, because there's nothing more
complicated than that.
A woman this movie opens up 11year old girl, first of all

(07:42):
playing with a ouija board, doyou do?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
that stuff, no, never , no, never do that you do you
touch a ouija board, you lose mynumber.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
No, she's playing ouija board with her little
brother and, of course, you'retalking to the spirits.
The only thing she asked, as an11 year old girl who is my
destiny man, who I'm gonna bewith I was like this is kind of
weird.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
You know she was talking about her grandma, so I
think maybe her grandma put thatin her head that everyone has
like a soulmate or you know truelove, and that's what she was
asking the ouija board and buther parents even knew about it.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Like she was playing with the ouija board, I was like
you are messing with stuff youdon't understand, you know how
some people are.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
They just don't think it's real.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Yeah, white people, now chuck it uh but then she
doubles down on it, like alittle bit later in life I think
maybe she was like a pre-teenor she goes to a fortune teller
at a carnival and she does it,gets a fortune reading, and then
the fortune teller tells herlike I'm getting a name, damon
bradley.

(08:39):
So like she's like, oh shit, this is real.
Honestly, if I was here, I waslike this is something I would
100 believe it.
Would you ever do one of those?
I would.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
I see them all the time at the state fairs.
I do for fun, to be honest.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
I would want to, but I'd be too nervous to.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Too nervous yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
This whole movie has a theme of destiny I kind of
believe in if.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
if you know your destiny, it's not really destiny
, then I don't know, I don'tknow, I think it was like her
chasing her destiny.
You know, I'm saying like itwas gonna happen either way, in
my opinion yeah, but do youthink like just knowing that is
gonna be tampering?
With it?

Speaker 1 (09:19):
no, I don't think so yeah, I guess you're kind of
right.
But I want to be specific.
Like when she says, like I seea name Damon Bradley she doesn't
say that's the man you're goingto be with and it kind of turns
out to be true in the end, likethat name did mean something to
her towards the end, regardlessif it was going to be the man
she was with or not.
But years the time jumps to 14years later she's in her 20s now

(09:45):
.
She's now engaged to a footsurgeon.
You know who the foot surgeon'sname is.
I forgot Dwayne Johnson.
It is really Okay Foreshadowingshe tells her friends about her
engagement, and she was.
Yeah, I didn't even say yes yet.
First of all, she takes it outof her bag.
She's not even wearing the ring.
It's like, yeah, he gave me 24hours to make up my mind.

(10:05):
I was like what kind ofmarriage is this?
Starting off like at.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
It's like she knew she didn't want to marry him.
Okay, and it was like she knewshe was settling for him.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah, which is kind of heartbreaking in itself.
But if you're going to be doingthat, you just not get married.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
He's a foot doctor.
Oh, that's a nice ring.
They could have made his job alittle bit cooler, though I
think the whole point was thathis job was supposed to be lame.
He's not her dream person.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Do you think if she would have said yes immediately
if he was a brain surgeon?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
No, Because either way he's still a nerd, or like
just like.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Do you think she would have said yes if you
worked at footlocker?

Speaker 3 (10:47):
no, oh, I think it was more so she just knew she
was gonna like mesh with him, like that, the way she did with,
um, robert downey jr'scharacter you're saying so, it
doesn't really matter where whathis occupation would have been.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
In my opinion, yeah, I can see them.
First of all, I didn't eventalk about her name.
Her name is faith in this movieand, like we've been talking
about destiny this whole time, like it's very on the nose,
that's like that blake lyleymovie that just came out last
year, um the one, that's all thedrama right now I can't
remember what it's called.
Yeah her name was lily.
I think it was lily and sheowns a flower shop.

(11:21):
I think her lame was lilyblossom okay, that's kind of
generic very cheesy on the nose.
That's exactly what this wasgiving me, but I didn't realize
her best friend is bonnie huntin this movie.
You know, I know her fromcheaper by the dozen.
She was in jumanji, she was.
She was good in this movie, butI'm I was picturing like who

(11:42):
would they cast?
That they remade it today too?
That definitely would have beenlike um, amy poehler maybe or
something like that.
You know what I'm talking about.
Somewhat fun like that, a funnycharacter, um, and she has an
engagement party, hugeengagement party.
It was very nice.
She gets ambushed all the timeabout questions like you know,
which is normal stuff.
One of the things that stoodout to me is that her future

(12:05):
mother-in-law came up to herwith a box Like it's my wedding
dress.
It's been in our family for twogenerations.
I want you to wear it.
Or Dwayne said you would wearit.
I was like this marriage is offto an awful start.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
That was kind of fake of him to just say, oh, should
I wear your wedding dress?

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Without her like first of all, like we're same
dimensions, you know.
But I can see maybe if it washer own daughter giving that to
you.
But to give it to your futuredaughter-in-law, that's a way to
like a bad foot in the door.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
I don't know.
I would have told her.
You know straight up, I'm notwearing that, it's an ugly dress
.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
She tried it on and it for the 90s.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
It looked cute, I don't know, you know what I'm
saying.
Like I feel like the 90s was, like it was like sleek and like
more modern.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
No In my opinion, that's what I think of when I
think of a 90s wedding.
I think 90s was like bigger andbulky.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Hmm, I don't know.
I think, of 80s, when I thinkof bigger and bulky to be honest
, hmm, I feel like 80 90s, justtoned it down just a little bit.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
I don't know.
We weren't even around in the90s.
Yeah, we weren't.
We're never going to do that.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
I guess from what I picture in my head.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
She tries on the dress as she's trying on the
dress.
She's trying it on.
First of all, it cracked me uphow she tried it on with black
boots, random as fuck.
And she gets a phone call andit turns out it's a man on the
phone calling to say hey, I knowyou don't know me, but I was a
friend of Dwayne's.
I couldn't make it to thewedding, just want to wish you

(13:36):
congratulations.
So, okay, what was the name?
Again?
And it was Damon Bradley, theguy she heard as a kid.
This chick was so whipped forthis guy she dropped everything,
everything in life, to go tothe airport to find this guy.
She ran out there in herwedding dress to go meet this
guy and her friends go alongwith her and she gets there.
It's too late, it's too lateand the plane's gone.

(13:58):
So she found out where theplane's going.
She books a plane onto that.
Uh, it was like a rome.
If they're going to r Rome, they get there.
They find all these like wherehe's gonna stay at his hotel.
You know, they really trackedthis guy down.
And for being in the 90s,there's no internet, there's no
phone, you can google and stufflike that to travel to a foreign
country.
I think it's wild back in theday it is.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
I talk about all the time.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
I couldn't be a pizza delivery driver in like the 80s
, because without gps.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
It would have been too hard, I think, but I mean, I
did think it's pretty cool, though, how she, you know, no
hesitation, she just booked aflight over there, and you know,
and then not even being able tospeak the language fully, you
know things you're kind of justlike but on top of that she's
engaged.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
I think they had nine days before they're getting
married.
She's engaged, going to thisman and at the engagement party.
I think this is the last timeyou actually see the husband in
the whole movie.
He has no idea he's oh, no, um,yeah, you know the brother
confronts him because, thebrother's dating her best friend
, her brother's dating his herbest friend, and um he, he kind

(15:06):
of figures something's going on,so he tells them and he finds
out her best friend's husbandhas been cheating on her.
But that was the last we've seenof him, I think the other guy
her husband, her fiance oh, yeah, you're right, yeah, yeah yeah,
we don't see any confrontationwith that later or anything like
that or her actually Breakingup with this guy.
So, anyway, she goes to Romeand she finds out when this guy

(15:29):
is.
Long story short, there's a lotof stuff that happens in
between.
It's a very funny movie too.
First of all, um, she finds himat this restaurant but she gets
bombarded by like running intopeople so she kind of loses them
.
He's walking away.
She ends up bumping, literallybumping into this guy, and she
loses her shoe.
Like this is like Cinderellatype of story and it's Robert

(15:50):
Downey Jr playing Evan.
No, what's his name?
Peter Wright, peter Wright.
And it's kind of odd or funnythat she's looking for mr right
and his name's right you know, she bumps into him and they kind
of talk a little bit.
He's obviously attracted to hervery first sight, like it was
like love his first sight forthis guy, and she tells him the

(16:10):
whole story.
I'm here looking for this guy.
I can't really find him, blahblah, what's his name?
She goes um damon bradley.
He's like I'm damon bradley.
She ends up going on this mostromantic night of her life.
They went to carriage rides.
They looked at like um statues, you know, they went sightseeing
.
They were just really in lovewith each other for one night.
Next morning she confesses tohim like hey, I gotta be honest

(16:34):
with you, I'm engaged.
He's, oh shoot.
Like not only I'm engaged, I'mengaged to your best, one of
your friends from college, andhe was like panicking, oh shit.
Like, not only I'm engaged, I'mengaged to your best one of
your friends from college, andhe was like panicking, oh shit,
like he was starting to drink alittle bit, and then he's like
all right, well, I got somethingto confess to you too.
He goes.
My name isn't damon bradley, and that was like a twist for me
.
I was like, oh shit, I didn'tknow, I wasn't expecting that.

(16:55):
Okay, so, uh, my name is damonbradley too.
I mean, isn't damon bradley?
It's like what did I say, peter?
Right, emilia, she hates him.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
I don't blame her oh, she freaks out because you know
she spent the whole night withthis dude and then turns out
he's not even like who he sayshe is.
So I mean I would be a littlefreaked out too.
I'm not gonna lie.
You have no idea who you'reeven laying next to at that
point but she didn't even likehave an idea who she's laying to
before.
Okay, but it was you know shewas like ditzy and like in love
and like you know, on her littlelike I don't know I don't know

(17:28):
a little travel.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I feel like you, yeah , I feel like you can't even be
mad at I could be mad at her too.
That's what I'm trying to say, because like I said you fell in
love with this guy all you knowis his name because she like 20
something years to fantasizeabout this man.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
That's where it came from or maybe no, because she's
like a hopeless romantic, youknow yeah so I think so you
would be pretty pissed, rightlike if like hey, my name.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
My name's not robert, like I'm totally like, I'm
jesse, no I think, you're crazy.
That would be pretty scary, honestly, I honestly, I would
leave, I would run.
But you find out later why helied.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Because, like I, had this big connection with you, I
fell in love with you.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
You're the most beautiful girl in my world.
I don't want to watch you walkout my life.
So, yeah, like I want topretend it wasn't a big deal,
it's just a name.
I was like it's not just a name, it's a whole identity.
Like you stole, which honestly, like I'm surprised he didn't
like legally change his name todavid bradley.
Her best friend in this movieis long wickles with her to roam

(18:29):
.
She has a whole side story inthis movie.
She falls, she's in a lovelessmarriage to her brother like he
finds out she's.
I think she finds out she'scheating, he's cheating on her.
So she ends up like falling inlove with the concierge at one
of these hotels and they liketravel around together.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
I think it was more so.
You know her just wanting toget back at her husband because
you know she thinks he'sallegedly cheating not that he
is cheating per se and that guywell, he was cheating right no,
he wasn't.
He wasn't cheating, but shejust thought he was.
That guy was slimy and I'mgoing to be totally honest.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
The concierge.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Yeah, didn't they meet at the jewelry store or
something like that when theywent looking for Damon Bradley
and he wasn't there?

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
And I think that's where they met.
So it was very clear from thejump he was there for a fun time
, not a long time.
I thought he was really intoher no, because even at the end,
um, I want to jump forward youknow, um.
At the end, when they'redriving away, she runs out to
say bye, he just speeds offdoesn't even like look back at

(19:31):
it.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
I didn't even really pay attention to that, I guess I
must have been talking orsomething that sucks.
I thought she was gonna to moveout there and stuff like that.
Would you move to Rome?
Hmm, would you move to Rome?

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Sure, why not?
It'd be nice.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
There'd be like a million reasons why not.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
I wouldn't want to move to Rome I don't know.
Hmm.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
I like the food and you know the people and all the.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
It'd be cool touring stuff, but I couldn't.
I don't know if I could live inany foreign country, really I
think I could I'm too scared tomove down the street to a
different neighborhood.
No, um, but keep going back tolike.
You know he's fine.
He confesses it's not reallyhim.
She's pissed, obviously.
So she wants to go back to theairport, she doesn't he?

(20:18):
Uh, peter does not want her toleave right away.
So what does he do?
He goes over like, hey, I foundthe guy you're looking for.
If you want, I'll take her toyou and now he wants to be her
best friend now, which is?
I thought that was like prettyweird.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
He doesn't want to lose it, you know.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
I get that, but I'm surprised she gave him the time
of the day after that.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
She's desperate.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Being honest, being desperate.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
And she's like he's at this hotel, I'll drive you
there.
So they go and this is reallyhandsome man, like he comes out
of a pool like Farrah Fawcettwith her hair all wet and stuff
like that.
So she goes on a date with themand it kind of turns out like
this guy was a little bit of aperv.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
He was like, not a perv was like a not a purpose,
kind of a douchebag.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
And turns out it was peter who hired this guy.
This is I'm giving away majorspoilers this movie.
Trust me, it's worth the watch.
But peter hired this guy topretend to be here.
Right, that's this guy.
She ends up finding that outand like peter, like you're just
stacking everything against youat this point.
So now she's had enough.
She's like fuck this, I'm goingback to home to get married to

(21:23):
my mediocre husband.
At the airport they do run intothe actual guy and he's like
even lamer than her husband.
It seemed like it's hard to saybecause we only spent like two
minutes with this guy.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
He is though he looks .
I don't want to be mean, but helooked kind of ugly and his
head was super big, like you.
His hair it was like like that, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Do you think they just picked an average guys or
they purposely picked himbecause of those features?

Speaker 3 (21:48):
yeah, I think so.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
You know, they wanted him to have like a, you know, a
specific look well, yeah, Iguess you couldn't have no one
handsome more handsome thanrobert downey jr you the male
lead and also the fact that helooked like a square.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
He did look like a square and then I mean this is
there's a lot of inconvenienceor stuff that happens.
That's stretching reality alittle bit.
And I told you because you werehere the last five minutes.
I was watching the movie.
He goes, she goes.
What do you mean?

(22:24):
He, robert Downey Jr.
He goes to the airport.
He's getting ready to leave theairport and she's talking to
the real Damon Bradley and shegoes like I think I love him or
no, how do you phrase it?
He asked her well, do you lovehim?
And she goes what?
And all of a sudden the airportgets loud, like there's people

(22:46):
talking, there's intercom goingand he has to repeat herself
like three times she, what?
What did you say?
I was like come on, girl.
Like what are we doing here?
It's like do you love him?
And she goes yeah, I think I do.
I was like bitch, this has beenthree days.
Okay, come on, it's been threedays since you've known this man
.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
He's lied to you the entire time you've known him but
he, you know it was likeyearning he should, you know he
did.
He went through all this toshow her that he loved her.
So at that point I would havedesperate, you would have gave
it no, yeah let's go like, please, he was doing the most
and she just wasn't having it,you know.
So, yeah, but in a good way, noI don't think that's what makes

(23:21):
it a good rom-com is becauseit's like you go home with this
man.
Sorry, it's like the concept oflike a true yearning man, like
this dude was following her, like everywhere you know,
setting up all these lies.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yet I lies, but like yeah, he did it out of love I
get it, but go home with thisman.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
I would never trust the word this guy says I don't
know, but he seems way moreinteresting than some kind of
weird foot doctor guy.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
He did he seems like a very charming man.
On the carriage rides he gave alot of cool facts about the
gods and trees and stuff likethat.
He seemed very insightful.
Then he found out he had someboring ass job as corporate
insurance or something like that.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
He was a foot salesman, no a shoe salesman, so
I don't know, but I think itwas also because he even
mentions the fact that he wasn'teven supposed to be on that
trip that was a cool.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Yeah, that was a cool like monologue, because he
mentioned, like you want to hearof destiny, like I wasn't
supposed to be here, I wasn'tsupposed to be at that
restaurant.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
You know, he felt like all that was lining up and
I could see his point there yeah, so I feel like you know it was
destiny for both of them, so healso feels like she was his
destiny you know that he wasmeant to meet her, which makes
sense, and I feel like that'swhy he tried so hard but all
this like takes place in likethe last literally five minutes
of the movie.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Like she decides she loves them and they end up
together.
Because I was watching it, Iwas like there's how's, how's,
like, how are they going to endup together?
There's no way.
When I last seen them, theywere still pissed at each other.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
I don't know.
I think it's giving like, doyou think they?

Speaker 1 (24:45):
rushed it.
At the end it was on a massscale.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
I don't think they rushed it, I think it was more
so.
You know, when there's so muchtension between two people, then
it kind of turns into somethingelse.
Yeah much I hate you, like I,you know, I don't want to be
around you too, like I actuallydo love him or like you know.
That kind of thing in my opinion, you know and even when she was
getting dressed for her date,he was like handing her all the
things that she was alreadyasking for.

(25:07):
It's like he already knew herso well, to be honest, yeah,
yeah, and they do them together.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
At the end of the movie they go home.
I think the like the last shotis the plane taking off of them
down together.
That's all you see.
But I wanted to see theconflict resolution between her
and her husband, like gettingdivorced or how is she gonna I
could just picture it.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
She would call and be like hey, I'm not coming home,
we're over.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
That's it like pretty shitty for her too yeah, but
you can get over it.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
He's a rich doctor.
You can put somebody else I.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
I mean, you know what would have made this movie a
little bit better If the husbandor fiancé was more involved,
like because you never got thesense of the feeling that the
husband was that deeply in lovewith her either, like he was
probably just marrying to marry, like people get married,
because that's what she'ssupposed to do, you know, meet
somebody, get married, have kids, blah, blah, blah, and that's
what he seemed like he was doing.
But she wanted to marry someonefor love and she always thought

(25:58):
it was her destiny to marrythis one man.
But if he was genuinelyinterested in her, like he was
in love with her too and she, that would have been more of a
dilemma for me.
I like to see that dilemmabetter for her.
Then she literally has tochoose between these two guys,
because this one is just an easychoice, like to go with this
other stranger.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
I think it's about passion.
You know, saying she didn'thave that passion for her.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
I know, I, I 100 agree with you, but that's what
I'm saying, like I, I wish hedid have passion for her I don't
know, I think that's.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
I just think it played out perfectly in my
opinion.
You know, I'm saying, yeah, like we, okay, so I'm marrying
this flip doctor guy.
I don't really like him he'snot really into me either, but
we kind of act like we love eachother, I guess.
And then here comes thisamazing dude.
You know it's like magical,we're like, it's like so much
romance and fun and all that.
And all of a sudden you know Imean I would get it, I would go

(26:49):
with him too.
So I mean, okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
And the music in this was pretty good too.
It's like a lot of like notforeign music, but like more,
like more different languages.
I think you said the movie hadone of your favorite songs right
, oh, the soundtrack, the main, like soundtrack the theme.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
I played it over.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Like the orchestra.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, it was actually on my most played last year for
Spotify.
I'm not even going to lie.
That's awesome Because it just.
You know, that's what I thinkof when I hear that song.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
That's great.
That's probably exactly whatthey were going for yeah, and it
worked.
Yeah, it worked.
I do got some random facts.
Just a couple facts here.
At this point in his career, this was Robert Downey Jr's
paycheck at two million dollarsfor this movie, and he was only
29, 29 years old.
Obviously he had a big careerbut then he fell off a little
bit shortly, like in 99, 2000,because this whole you know,

(27:48):
drug problem, arresting it andstuff like that.
But then he came back in 2008iron man and now this guy's like
a billionaire.
Uh, for that one scene, themontage of the romantic night
when they first met, actuallyrobin downer juni't even come in
this movie until 45 minutes inthe movie, which is wild, and
this movie is an hour and 45minutes long the cast was unable
to shoot at the real mouth oftruth as the nearby square was

(28:13):
the target of a terrorist bombshortly began filming, so they
had to replicate it.
You know that scene where theyhad to stick their hand in the
mouth of truth.
What?

Speaker 3 (28:21):
was that supposed to represent?
Again, I think it was a moviefrom Aubrey Hepburn or something
I've never seen the originalmovie either, to be honest.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
But you stick your hand in this statue's mouth.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Something was supposed to happen right, it's
supposed to bite you, orsomething.
I I think he was trying to getyour hand bitten off or
something.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Because they do have that joke where they both
pretend like they lost theirhands.
That was pretty funny At onepoint this movie was almost
called Just In Time instead ofOnly you.
I think I would like that titlebetter.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Just In Time.
I mean it works.
I can see it Because Only youthere's like three guys in this
movie.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
It's Only.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
You.
So out of everyone that'schasing her and that wants to be
with her, she's like with thisone guy I think you know so
damon bradley, her fiance, andthen you know, peter, so only
you is at the.
In the end, it's only him.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
So I think that came with a better title thing I
don't know, I think it's cute,it's cute so this movie was one
of your favorite rom-coms of theyear.
You know I usually ask one outof ten.
What would you give this movieone out of ten.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
I'd give it an eight Eight.
That's pretty good.
That's pretty high.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
I think I'd give it a seven out of ten.
Okay, it's good I wouldre-watch it again.
Probably not five times worth.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
but Okay, but.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
You know know what this movie did want me to go
back and watch more 90s romancemovies, though like robert
downey jr and um marissa tomei,I checked more of them out.
Now this movie, that movie cameout like it was in 1994.
We're gonna fast forward alittle bit to 1998 now, fresh
off of billy madison, happy gomore adam sandler came together

(29:58):
and made the wedding singer.
I like I told you this is myhands-down more adam sandler
came together and made thewedding singer.
I like I told you, this is myhands-down favorite adam sandler
movie all time.
I think it's so funny so Iwould have I don't want to say
the word inspiring, but likeinspiring, inspiring a wedding
singer.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Yeah, I do.
No, it's a really bad hairstyletoo.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
I thought it was really decent in this movie.
It's okay.
It came out in 94, or 96, but itwas set in 1985.
And, man, were they pushingthat down your throat this
entire time?
1985, because with their music, their clothing, the way they
talked, it was hilarious.
This whole movie is this wholemovie because we've seen this,

(30:45):
not in 1996.
I think that made it moretimeless for me watching it.
As you know, I think I was thefirst thing that pre-teen had I
watched in 1996.
That would have bothered me alot more how they're trying to
make it look like the 80s and Ithink I just couldn't get past
that, but I think this movie'stimeless, regardless like what
time of the year, what year itis.
I would have left my ass off ofthis whole movie.
For those of you who don't know, this movie is about Robbie, a

(31:07):
singer, and Julia, a waitress, both engaged, but to the wrong
people, fortune intervenes andhelps them discover each other.
Same thing.
This movie is about destinykind of thing.
It's actually almost the sameplot You're with the wrong
person, someone else comes alongkind of changes his mind a
little bit.

(31:27):
This one was more mutual, wherethe guy didn't lie about his
identity, though uh, and itstars like adam sandler, drew
barrymore, christine taylortrying to find this one guy's
name.
Do you like this movie overall?

Speaker 3 (31:44):
I liked it yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Yeah, this movie is very quotable.
What are some of your favoritequotes?

Speaker 3 (31:49):
I can't remember a quote.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
This is going on the list.
Actually, I think it's so funnythis movie opens up with.
Actually, you know what we talkabout Faith being her name
being on the nose, like thisguy's name is Robbie Hart.
This is a fun fact too.
Like if you ever pay attentionto Adam Sandler's characters in
all his movies, I believe hislast name always starts with an

(32:11):
H, and that sounds right.
Yeah, I believe the last namealways starts with an H, and I
want to say the female lead inthis movie always starts with a
J, if I'm not mistaken, one ofthose two.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
I don't know.
This is a conspiracy theory.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
That's cool, I mean.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
I didn't know about that, so um.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Going back to the movie, the movie opens up with
Adam Sandler singing, performingas a wedding singer.
He's right around.
He's singing Right Round byDead or Alive.
I loved it.
It set the whole tone for thewhole movie.
It was so much fun.
Adam Sandler isn't that bad ofa singer.
I would say he's as good asinger as Ed Sheeran.
Oh no, ed Sheeran's not thatgood.
That's kind of weird.

(32:53):
He's not singing.
If that makes sense, it's.
I think his, his levels, adamsuther's levels are good as that
.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
You're in you're gonna get a lot of hate for
saying that I probably will.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Yeah, I probably will .
Uh, robbie hart, you know someof those characters.
He's a very nice, genuine guy.
He teaches.
He's teaching this old lady, though, how to play piano for
her.
I don't know if it's renewingvows or just their anniversary
party, but she's so poor.
She pays this guy withmeatballs and one of the scenes
is like oh, I rented a tub ofyours, so stick out your hands.

(33:29):
She puts two big fat meatballsin his hands and then watches
him eat it.
It's like what the fuck are wedoing here?
And he's all excited and inlove because he's getting
married the next day and itturns a very heartbreaking scene
because he gets left at thealtar.
That was a very big, powerfulscene for me.
I was like oh shit, I can onlyimagine what that felt like.

(33:51):
So the next day he's alldepressed and stuff like that.
His best friend is a goodfriend because he came and
checked on him and they werelaying in bed.
But even though he came andchecked on him and they were
laying in bed, but even thoughhe came and checked on him, he
just really came like hey, nowthat you're single, let's go out
.
You know, I don't know how goodof a friend that was.
So he goes back to work singingbut he's like singing depressed

(34:13):
love songs.
It was hilarious.
He gets in a fight with hisfather-in-law because he was
singing Love Stinks.
He was insulting the guests.
It was hilarious.
And then he meets one of thewaitresses, Julia, out there.
She's getting married.
They're kind of friendly.
They're very friendly at first.
She seems like if I getproposed to, I'll invite you and
your friend to the engagementparty, which they do.

(34:33):
And the friend comes up dressedup as Michael Jackson, Like the
red leather jacket, the oneglove.
If you could, just you seem, Ifyou were up in that time, you
seem like you would do JanetJackson definitely.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
I would, why not?
Yeah, I'd rock it.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
And you meet Julia's fiance, Glenn Glenn Guglia.
What a douchebag the guy was ajerk.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
I mean what a douchebag.
The guy was a jerk.
I mean, he was a douchebag.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
He was a very open douchebag too, and the only
reason he said he was marryingher too is because he could
trust her with the money.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
I don't know If I'm being honest, I thought she was
kind of stupid, like how can younot see this guy's like?
Right you know like cheatingand just kind of using you, but
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
There's a lot of reasons she's out there like
that it was like she justcouldn't see him.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
This guy is a total jerk.
How can you not see?
He's a total jerk, though uh.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
But Robbie leaves the wedding business and he goes to
do bar mitzvahs instead.
So he auctioned at one of hisvenues for the bar mitzvah.
He notices his little fat kidsitting in the corner all alone
and he's like hey man, what'sgoing on?
What's?
Why are you so down?
He's like why is that girl overthere to dance?
But she told me she does adance with losers.
So he's like all right, I gotone for you.
So adam sandler goes back onstage.

(35:46):
This is probably one of myfavorite scenes of the whole
movie.
He goes back on stage and he'slike I'm here to like can I have
julia come to the center of thestage?
He's like I want you to pickany guy in the state in this
whole place, the less thecoolest guy in here, not losery
guy um to have a dance with.
And she picks that kid he wastalking to.

(36:07):
So he's singing.
It's a very I might go overhere, watch this movie just for
the scene alone.
He's singing and she's dancingwith him.
It's a very sweet moment.
And the guy starts gettinghandsy with her.
He starts grabbing her butt sothat he's like just go with it,
just go with it.
So Robbie gets off the stage,he goes down, he picks up, like
a 13 year old girl too, and heputs her hands on his butt.
I was like this movie would notget made today with that stuff.

(36:29):
And then, you know, everyonestarts doing the dance like old
people, like that it was.
It was funny, it was a funnyscene and it was a very sweet
thing.
He kind of he didn't mean wellby it, but just executed very
poorly.
Then the next scene's, like awedding montage, seemed pretty
fun, very funny.
You know, one of the I wasgonna say this for the end, but

(36:50):
like a fun fact about this moviethis movie took years to make
for the script.
They couldn't figure out thescript very well, so the
director gave the script tocarrie fisher, the princess leia
from star wars, to look overthe script.
She took six months with it andshe came back with this
masterpiece that we have.
Someone asked her like how, what was your um secret?

(37:11):
Like what did you do exactly tomake this movie so great?
She was like I just made thewoman smarter and like I'm uh,
made the love scenes better.
So I guess that's kind of thepoint of that is like it's hard
for men to write for a woman notjust women, but like how to
write for children, or you know,it's like that, like so I think
it's good to get otherperspective, and she killed it
in this movie.

(37:31):
This movie was very funny, butit does have a lot of emotions
in it too.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
I think that is true, though, with the um, with men
writing women and writing womencharacters.
You know, there's only so muchyou can kind of like.
How do I say it?
You can't really think from awoman's perspective, basically,
which makes it kind of hard tolike write a character.
That is, how do I say someonelike someone that a woman can

(37:58):
actually relate to, in myopinion, which is why you have a
lot of what do they call them?
Manic pixie girls?
They're always so ditzy andfree and it's not like that.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
I'm sure that's how the original script was.
Oh, okay, I've picked up wherewe're at.
There's a whole wedding montagescene that they're doing like
that, trying cakes and stufflike that, going shopping and
stuff like that.
It's funny moments.
But then they go robbie like oh, she forgot her jacket in the

(38:31):
back seat, so he takes her tothe next day.
He's there and julia's theretalking with her sister, I think
it is and she was talking aboutthe first kiss at the altar.
And she's like oh, show me howyou're going to kiss a Munrabi.
And I was like okay, I was likewhat the fuck is happening here
?
Like she was just so cool withthat, so they end up kissing.
And of course Glenn walks inwith a CD player too.

(38:56):
That I thought was likesomething like 600 bucks worth
and he kind of freaks out like,oh, I just can't give her a
jacket.
And she kissed me, but it meantnothing though, and he runs out
the next day.
They have a double date thesister robbie, julia and glenn.
This is where glenn confesseslike he was cheating on her.
Robbie was so smooth that wegot to confess that too.
But it's not like he can go tojulia and say like, hey, this

(39:18):
guy's cheating on you, you know, because she's never gonna
believe that.
I don't know, maybe she would, she just didn't want to believe
it.
So he kind of get I'm skippingover a lot of stuff too but he
kind of gets the courage to goout, tell her how she feels.
But she walks up to.
He walks up to her house.
He sees her in the movie, inthe sorry the movie in the

(39:38):
window, trying on her dress andlike talking in the mirror.
But she sees him laughing andsmiling, you know, like in her
dress.
He doesn't realize she'sfantasizing about being married
to robbie oh, okay so it's kindof like you've seen roman juliet
, right.
It's kind of like the thing likewhere she takes the poison and
he does.
She doesn't, he doesn't realizeit's fake poison, so he kills

(39:58):
himself.
It kind of reminds me of that.
So he goes depressed, so she'sgoing to go through with a
wedding.
She kind of runs a rush thiswhole thing because she's kind
of upset with the whole Robbiething.
So let's go to Vegas.
So then Robbie hears about thisand he's like I'm going to go
to Vegas and stop this wedding.
So he goes first class.
There was a scene where oh, I'mgonna get hate for this too

(40:20):
with the, the person at theairport was dressed like 80s,
like with his hair covering hisface.
It's like some similar rockstar back then.
I can't remember who, but thatwas gonna be played by chris
farley.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
I don't know.
If you remember, I didn't knowwho he is yet from snl.

Speaker 1 (40:35):
He's like one of the funniest guys in the world.
Oh, he passed away.
Now he passed.
He couldn't do it because hewas going to rehab at the time.
He actually passed away liketwo weeks before this movie
released, but he would have madea role so funny.
So robbie gets on a plane, he'sin first class and he's like
makes friends with the entirefirst class like they're all

(40:57):
listening to a story andeverything like that.
And then they finally realizelike, oh shit, he's like they're
all listening to a story andeverything like that.
And then they finally realizelike, oh shit, he's here.
They're here in the backlistening to not listening, but
like they're just there.
So robbie gets help from billyidol the guy biggest, one of the
80s icons to like help distracthim.
He sings him a song andeverything like that, which is

(41:17):
on my playlist.
I had that song on my playlistyeah, yeah so, long story short,
they end up together.
It's a romantic thing and theyget married at the end too, like
all their friends.
Who was in the movie?
I'd like that scene when youbring everybody back from the
movie like, uh, the drunkbrother at the one of the
weddings came back, was, he wasthe one new wedding singer now
too, and that was pretty cool.
You know they released asoundtrack for this movie, but

(41:42):
that song with a brother-in-lawor not, that brother-in-law,
that guy singing at the end he'snot on the soundtrack.
Steve will show me.
And the guy who was auditioningto be julia's wedding singer I
didn't talk about her name isjulia gulia that's hilarious.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
It's a weird name.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
It's a weird name um, but this movie, dude, it's so
good.
There was a two.
Uh uh, you like broadway, youlike I know you like musicals.
There's a musical adaptation ofthis in 2006 that even it was
so good it won a tony.
I never do that, but would youlike to see this movie back,
brought back to broadway?

Speaker 3 (42:15):
yeah, I would watch the broad version, for sure.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
What movies have you seen on Broadway?
Or plays, sorry.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
Plays I saw Annie.
That was a while ago.
I saw the Michael Jacksonmusical.
Mm-hmm.
It was here last year inChicago, so that was really fun
to see, that's pretty much it.
Everything else I just watch onTV.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Yeah, I think I, and that was Jersey Boys and that
was awesome.
Betty White was considered forthe role of Rosie.
I'm going to tell you thesepeople were considered for the
role of Glenn, the shittydouchebag boyfriend fiance.
Jim Carrey, christopher McDonaldif you don't know who that is,
it's the guy who plays TrudyMcGavin in Happy Gilmore Charlie
Sheen, jack Black, owen WilsonExcept for McDonald.
If you don't know who that is,it's the guy who plays Shooter
McGavin in Happy Gilmore.

(43:02):
Charlie Sheen, jack Black, owenWilson, john Cryer and Matthew
Broderick were all consideredfor the role of Glenn.
I think any one of themactually would have killed it.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Jack Black, so I don't know if I could see him as
a jerk one.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
Have you seen Anchorman?
He had a small cameo in there.
He played like a jerk.
He kicked a puppy off thebridge.
Oh okay, I don't know, maybethat's pretty cool though.
Charlie Sheen would have killedit in this role.
I think, though, he would have.
Yeah.
People who almost played JuliaNatalie Portman, jennifer Lopez,

(43:37):
jennifer Aniston, jenniferGardner, julia Roberts,
christina Applegate, cameronDiaz, sarah Jessica Parker,
brooke Shields and PamelaAnderson were all considered the
role for Julia.
Yeah, but this is like thefirst movie with him and Drew
Barrymore.
They had like three othermovies together too.
I wonder, like if they weren'tin this movie together, would

(44:00):
they have that same relationship?
Now, I don't know, because Ifeel like it kind of created
that partnership.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
It did.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
They had great chemistry in this movie.
But J-Lo, that was kind ofweird.
I think she was like this is95-96.
They were making this movie, soshe's probably fresh on with
Selena and some other big moviesback then.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
I don't like her, you don't like Janet, I do not like
her, me neither.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
I'm gonna say Paige.
This Boone movie had a greatsoundtrack though, too, like a
lot of 80s songs which I liked.
That was cool.
What would you give the WeddingSinger?
1 out of 10?
.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
I'd give it a 7 7?
.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
I'll flip it.
I'll give it an 8 out of 10.
Really an 8 out of 10?
Okay, I love this movie.
This is a more comforting moviefor me than the only one.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
I mean I don't explain, but no, that's pretty
cool.
I guess for me it's a 7 because, you know, I just wasn't that
into it it was still a goodmovie, though.

Speaker 1 (44:55):
What's your favorite Adam Sandler movie?

Speaker 3 (44:56):
I don't really have a favorite.
I mean, an Adam Sandler movieis an Adam Sandler movie, you
know, it kind of has that vibeto it.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
You know, I would say I think that's why I like this
movie.
It doesn't feel like an AdamSandler movie though I would go
with Grown Ups.
Grown Ups.
That's a bad choice.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
How about?
I mean yeah that makes sense.

Speaker 1 (45:15):
Okay, I like this movie Mostly because his name is
Robbie.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
All right, that's cool.
No, I'm joking.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
Happy Gilmore, it was great.
I'm excited for Happy Gilmore 2coming out this year.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
You keep talking about that one.
I haven't seen it yet, though.

Speaker 1 (45:28):
You haven't seen Happy Gilmore?
No, I haven't.
Have you seen Billy Madison,mm-mm or management?
You haven't seen any of them.
We're definitely re-watchingall these movies I hope you know
that.
Um, I know you're big intomovies, so thank you so much for
coming on.
First of all, I had a greatconversation with you to talk
about these.
Thanks for having me.
But future movies coming outwhat movies are looking forward

(45:51):
to coming out this year, orwould you?

Speaker 3 (45:52):
like to see me the michael jackson movie for sure
so that's a fun fact we can talkabout that.

Speaker 1 (45:57):
Uh, I excited for that too, actually, and his
nephew's playing him in reallife and he sounds and looks
just like him, I heard.
So that movie was set to comeout fall of this year.
I'm thinking it's going to getpushed back because they have to
go back and reshoot the entirethird act of the movie, because
I guess they mentioned a lotthis man's name who was involved

(46:20):
in a lawsuit against theallegations against Michael
Jackson, and legally they can'tmention him.
So they have to go back andrework around it now.
So I'm wondering if it's goingto change, how it's going to end
.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
It can't.
It can't All right, Because youknow the whole family is
involved, His estate is involved.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
To make sure that it's like as accurate as
possible.
So I don't think there's no wayto like to go back and, kind of
like, change things.
It ends how it ends.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
Yeah, but you can like, you can leave stuff out.
I'm not saying you can't changeit, but you can leave stuff out
.

Speaker 3 (46:53):
I guess yeah, but then it wouldn't be authentic.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
I love biopic movies.
You know they're making a BoyzII Men one.
I'm not watching that, why I'venever liked Boyz II Men to be
honest, if they watched JanetJackson, would you watch that
one?
Maybe, who was your favorite90s singer?

Speaker 3 (47:09):
90s singer Michael Jackson.
Okay, okay, I mean, that's agiven.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Yeah, you were Michael given.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
yeah, you're michael jackson, more than prince yes
okay, for sure, um, you know theprince and michael beef was
kind of crazy.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
So yeah, but didn't they squash it eventually?
I?
Don't know to be honest yeah,it was always kind of like that
friendly competition yeah, Ithink that's what it was,
because I remember when he pat, when michael passed away, they
reported prince like he didn'tleave his room for like nine,
nine days or something like that.
Yeah, Apparently.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
There's a story.
It sounds completely crazy.
I'm sorry I'm stuttering.
There's a story where Princetried to like run over Michael
Jackson in the car Really.
I don't know if it's true ornot, but I still want to TikTok.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Well, that's in the movie.
That'd be cool.

Speaker 3 (48:01):
Do you think Prince will cool?
Well, he said boom, I'm givingyou like his, someone playing
him.

Speaker 1 (48:02):
Yeah, yeah, probably you know a mention of it.
That'd be pretty cool.
Michael was first right he cameout.
Well, obviously he was a kidwhen he came out yeah, michael
came out first.
Prince was cool.
It's hard for me to.
I don't know if I had a pig.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
I don't see michael but prince was awesome I guess
because I never grew up onprince.
You know, it was always michaeljackson my mom was a big print.

Speaker 1 (48:20):
Yeah, she's a big prince fan, so I grew up with a
lot of prints too.
She was earth went in fire.
My dad was bgs.
They were gonna make a bgsmovie.
I don't know what happened withthat, um, but yeah, a lot of
good biopics coming out.
I really love bohemian rhapsody.
Have you seen that one?

Speaker 3 (48:34):
that was a really good one yeah, rocket man was
very good.

Speaker 1 (48:37):
I'm trying to think there's a lot of good
documentaries out there, butanything else that you saw this
year 2025.

Speaker 3 (48:48):
I know the Fantastic Four movie you've been talking
about.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
I've been talking about.
I'm looking forward to that.
I'm kind of like you know, either way, it can be good or
bad, but you're still going towatch it.
Yeah, I know you are, the newCaptain America movie is coming
it.
Yeah, I know you are, the newCaptain America movie is coming
out next week and I know you'rejust dying to see that.
Not really Like.

Speaker 3 (49:05):

Speaker 1 (49:09):
It's a lot.
And then you know Glenn'scoming out next episode for the
new Captain America and I'mexcited for him to come out
because he went through andwatched all the mcu stuff.
I don't know all the shows, Idon't think actually the show
besides like one or two, buthe's been going through watching
all the movies and he's beenloving it.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
You have fun.
You tell me how it is, you knowif you like it or not, and then
maybe I'll go see it if it'sgood okay, okay that sounds like
a deal um any shows or anythinglike that coming out.

Speaker 1 (49:38):
I know you're on a big concert this year.
You said you're going to aTyler the Creator concert.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
That's going to be really fun.
I got pit tickets so I'm goingto be in the pit.
Hopefully I'm not on the stage,Hopefully I don't get wrapped
into any mosh pits or anythinglike that.

Speaker 1 (49:52):
Does that happen at concerts?

Speaker 3 (49:53):
Usually, yeah, there are mosh pits sometimes.
That sounds like you'redefinitely going to get caught
in the mash.

Speaker 1 (50:01):
I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (50:02):
It's going to be pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (50:03):
