Speaker 1 (00:05):
excuse me, is anybody
sitting here?
Sorry, this needs to take him.
Sorry, this definitely has tobe probably my most anticipated
movie of the summer and now thatwe're here, I was like it's all
downhill from here.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
I don't know.
You know what I'm instead ofbeing sad that it's over, I'm
happy that it happened, yeahwell, I'm still living it
happened.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yeah well, I'm still
living it.
I've seen it two times, fantastic Four two times now and
I have plans to go see it athird time.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I've only seen it
once so far, but yeah, even back
when we were trying to figureout which one we were most
excited for, obviously I hadSuperman, you had this.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
And seeing your story
that you already went back was
cracking up.
Man, I love it.
Yeah, because you have to seeit opening night.
You have to.
And, uh, my brother couldn'tsee it opening night, so I went
with him the second night and um, same thing with some friends.
I'm gonna go see a third timewith them sometime this week.
Um, I'm not mad about it at all.
I love this movie.
We're gonna get dive deep intolike every little thing about it
.
There are some criticisms Ihave, but like they're very
minor.
Um, and we're gonna go talkdive deep into like every little
(01:06):
thing about it.
There are some criticisms Ihave, but like they're very
minor.
Um, and we're going to go talkall different things.
They merge.
We're going to talk about thecasting, um, behind the scenes
stuff, and, to top it all off, Ithink we're going to finish
with talking about, um, happyGilmore and the second half of
this podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Two completely
different movies.
Vibes are always high.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, I'm, I've seen
it happy get more once last
night and I'm trying to see itagain, honestly, like probably
right after this podcast.
Okay, all right.
Yeah, that's that beautifulthing about when these releases
happen on streaming.
You just click into it andwe're good to go.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah and we talked a
lot last week about um.
Movies are made better whenthere's traits of streaming or
they know how to cater to thestreaming audience better.
Now, and I think this is goingto be definitely one of them
that we're going to talk abouthow it's better at home,
watching it at home, versusgoing to the theaters and watch
this one.
Do you think if happy Gilmoretwo was released in theaters,
(02:01):
would it have a chance competingagainst fantastic four?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
No, not at all, and I
think they know that.
So definitely a smart decisionthere.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
There was a movie
that released the same day and
that's Dave Franco's new movieTogether.
I believe it's called.
It's a body horror movie.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'vebeen hearing good things about
it.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah, I think that's
the strategic piece of it right,
like if you know this is goingto be catered to the families
and kids and you know all thosepeople that the opposite side of
that are, you know people whomaybe don't want that.
They can go watch a littlehorror flick and still enjoy
their time at the movies as well.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah yeah, there's
always something for everybody
in the.
I still haven't seen Eddington.
That's still on my list.
Same thing as Superman.
Same thing as Superman.
There was all different kind ofages and people in this
audience.
I've seen older people come bythemselves.
I've seen young people withyoung kids come by.
It was a great experiencealtogether.
We've been talking about thismovie for months now leading up
(03:00):
to it.
This is the first introductionto the MCU.
It's the first time over 10years since the fantastic four
is the big screen.
It's a brand new cast.
Um, for those who don't know,I'll just be the obit, not the
obituary, the description forcedto balance the roles as heroes.
As heroes with the strength oftheir family bond, the fantastic
four must defend earth fromravenous space.
(03:21):
God called galactus and hismagnetic herald the silver
server.
So this is the third adaptationthat has been released in
theaters.
Um, and I was watching the bluecarpet early this week and
everyone looked like they hadfun with it, paid like the
casting.
The cast themselves seemed likethey're really enjoying their
roles, just like superman was.
Um, have you been seeing thingslike people bashing the
(03:43):
interviewers like uh, lately onthe fantastic four press?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
um, I'm not really.
I see people like praising, like the same amount, but um, no
, no, what are they saying?
So it's not.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
It's not about the
actors themselves.
They're getting asked like veryshitty questions, but like
they're not getting questions byjournalists, or instead of
getting questioned by like um uh, what do you want to call uh
influencers and stuff like thaton tiktok, oh yeah, yeah, I did
see, uh, the guy who plays thething, uh iban.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah, uh, when he
came in there and he was like
what's up influencers?
Like to the group.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
I know that they
that's kind of the route they
went for this press junket but, like you can totally tell, they
just usually either chat jbt toask what questions they ask or
they they just generally suck atinterviews like it's.
It's interesting because Ididn't experience that at all
with superman.
I think superman definitely wonin that category because all
the interviews are great, alltheir press tours went great.
I've been seeing some of theircast and this one touring the
(04:44):
podcast I I listened to.
Vanessa Kirby was unhappy, sad,confused.
Very great interview.
Yeah, um Pedro Pascal.
He's just everywhere All summeris so busy from just touring
press alone.
Um, and the other two, likeYvonne and um Joseph, they
they're I don't know, did they?
I don't know?
I like watching them interviewtogether.
They're pretty fun together.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
And it shows on
screen that's what I was going
to say.
When they pair them up, likeyou can kind of tell Same thing
for Pedro and Vanessa, like theyobviously are together for
their interview.
So that part of it works for me.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yeah, yeah.
And, like I said, they're allloving their characters.
They love being a part of it.
Vanessa Kirby on that, theylove being a part of it.
Vanessa kirby and that podcastspeaks very highly about the
character itself.
I think I know she's from thecrown and a few other things.
I never really knew any of herwork, um, and just hearing her
talk about like her excitementfor the role and what she
brought to the role and thedifference we're going to talk,
dive deep into their charactersin a little bit, because this
(05:39):
movie is just like it's notoriginal but it is original.
I feel like we've never seenthese takes on these characters
before.
Uh, we definitely see the morethe science side on this part.
It's not really asaction-packed as some of the
other marvels films are, whichis one of the complaints a lot
of people have.
But honestly, like, and one ofthe biggest complaints is about
the thing.
Like people wish the thing hada bigger role, bigger things to
(06:01):
do.
In this one, his whole thing isbeing strong and punching the
shit out of people.
You can't really do that withgalactus and him, you know, but
they did utilize his otherstrengths in this movie, like
his his.
To me he gave, like uncle joeyfrom full house vibes in this
movie I love that.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I uh, I think the the
one complaint that I hear a lot
, especially when it comes tothe thing.
It's like they wanted to seethat you know body like issue
again, which I think I'm finewith.
Like we're four years deep.
He's obviously still going tostruggle with it.
They show, they've alluded toit, like you know, with the
flashback of how he used to lookversus this one.
You know he's already in thedating world, so I think I'm OK
(06:41):
with you know where hischaracter is already.
But they also had him have somekey moments.
He was the pilot of the ship, you know, like they depended on
him and like when I talked aboutgetting things ready, like to
me he was just the doer of thegroup Anytime, like like a real,
like it got down to business, they were like yo, let's get her
done.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
So this is also like,
not an origin story, but like
it's they.
So this is also like, not anorigin story, but like it's
they're four years deep intobeing superheroes and I'm sure
in the beginning he was likeself-conscious about his body
and stuff like that.
But at this point of his lifeyou do see him comfortable Like.
You see him like handlingcookies with great care.
Like you can tell him he'sdefinitely managed his body in
this one.
He's kind of just learned toaccept it.
(07:21):
Yeah, he does get downsometimes you just gotta keep on
moving, like I.
If I was seeing him to pressabout his body again in this
movie, I kind of might be alittle bit disappointed.
I was like we're doing thatagain.
I thought we were skipping allthis origin stuff.
Um, but no, I love thischaracter, this role, like as a
supportive role.
Like he said he's the pilot.
He even gave birth to franklinin this movie.
Um, he's showing, and not onlylike it's the first family of
(07:44):
Marvel.
You can really tell they'rejust a great team together too
because, like when they'rebrainstorming ideas how to fight
Galactus, they're all bouncing, throwing off ideas Like what if
we do this or that?
You know, I love that.
I love that scene inside ofJohnny and the thing really
liked in the portrayals in thelast couple movies.
They, especially the MilesTeller's one Um, I don't think
that guy wasn't even a scientist, he was just doing a.
(08:04):
Retold him to do the entiretime um the original fantastic
four.
Yeah, he was a good pilot, it'skind of, and then uh, but
that's all you saw of him.
You don't really see him doanything else besides like cry
about his disinformed um.
So it's definitely original.
Take on that alone.
Like I like the idea of notdoing origin story four years
deep in it, like I said, andthey just truly, these
characters truly embrace theircelebrity style.
(08:25):
Like they, everything isfantastic for all the shirts,
all the logos, all the cars.
They even named the kitchenfantastic kitchen or something
like that that's the big thingabout this.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Like obviously, you
know, getting out of the origin,
it feels very lived in, like I,I feel like I picked up where,
uh, we were supposed to everyinteraction.
Like with that, you know thatthis team's been together
forever.
Like you're not doubting any ofthe relationships, like it
feels very warm and fun and safeand challenging, like that's
what I.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
It feels like a
family definitely, definitely,
and um and uh.
This world also takes place notin the RMCU world.
This is off world, this is adifferent universe.
What a great idea, because youcan just make anything.
You can make anything yourreality.
And it's because it's adifferent universe.
They don't have to go out toexplain anything.
Or the idea of just the Baxterbuilding we don't have to fit
(09:22):
that in somewhere.
They don't have to build thatfrom scratch.
It's already there and existing.
Just the backs are buildinglike.
We don't have to fit that insomewhere.
They don't have to build thatfrom scratch.
It's already there and existing.
It's on top of that, it's.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
This is set in the
60s, if I'm not mistaken yeah
and well, and with that too,it's like you again.
You don't have to talk aboutincidents that already happen.
You don't have to worry aboutwhere you know where was iron
man during this.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
So like, where was
this?
Like?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
uh, all that fun
stuff, I know.
When they were evacuating thecity like I was thinking I
wonder what you know thepunisher is doing right now.
He's like in the city butobviously you don't like it.
It clears the road for you tojust focus on the story.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
It feels like a
standalone, like a true
standalone movie I bet youthat's exactly what the eternals
wanted for it to be.
This movie they had a chance todo it, but like yeah, they said
the entire time like where thefuck is, captain america, or
when, like the giant's facebeing eternal, came looking face
to face with earth um, somebodyelse would probably like dr
strange lives across the street.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
He's definitely
stepping in at this point and
you know that's like the big uhbig thing, you know where we are
with marvel 2.
This is what movie 34 orsomething like that, 35.
So we're like so deep into this.
Everything feels like homework, like you don't have to have,
you know, read.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
You don't have to
watch three tv shows and two
movies to catch up, you just getdropped in and you're good to
go yeah, um, I have not watchedthe new york new rock stars
movie uh video about this yet,but I'm sure there's a ton of
Easter eggs that I'm missing.
But before we get into all likeall the movie stuff like keep,
where you just jumped in, headsin, but how was your theater
(10:52):
experience?
Very excited, man.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
How was your theater
experience it was?
It was really good.
It was really good, similar toyou opening night.
I hated this.
I actually had to change mytime multiple times because I
thought Danny was coming home.
I thought I had my movie buddy, and then I was like you know
what it's 630 movie starts at 7.
I'm buying ticket just doingthe solo journey and it was
(11:14):
almost impossible.
Thankfully there was only likethree open seats in my theater
but got to go full packed.
People clapped when that firstlike Marvel thing topped up,
like it's that feeling.
I'm like we're back like we'reI hate, you know that phrase.
We're back, we're in it, youknow, and people are really
excited to watch a good marvelmovie, and I'm and you know, my
(11:34):
theater was very receptive to it.
What about you?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
so I did not go to
amc this time, um, mostly
because on thursday nightsopening nights for these imax
movies they have weird timesit's either three o'clock in the
afternoon or 9 pm and I can'tmake it.
I'm not gonna do one of thoseum, so I went to imagine instead
, um to my buddies.
I like going there for the bigmartin, especially the longer
movies.
It's more comfortable seatingum, but I did not have a
(12:00):
receptive audience like you.
Like there's not that muchclapping and mostly what it was
like people start to clap andthey saw no one else clapping so
they just got kind ofembarrassed to stop clapping,
kind of thing.
Everyone, just like I thinkthey wanted the clap, they just
did it.
Um, but for the most parteveryone.
The coolest thing at thesemarvel things is no one gets up
at the end of the movie likeeveryone.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yeah, no one, not a
single person got up, which is
very cool, that's the good partabout going opening night,
because it's the true nerds orthe people who know what to do.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
I'm kind of surprised
with Superman releasing on a
Tuesday.
They didn't do the same thingfor the Fantastic Four.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Shocked, Shocked.
I literally, I think, onTuesday night.
I knew that it probablywouldn't be on Tuesday, but I
was like there has to be anearly release on Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
They did one for,
like drastic world, but this is
why I don't like that.
There's no rhyme or reason,right?
Um, last time we talked oh,before we go any further, uh,
you mentioned your buddy moviewatching buddy danny.
Um, this is his birthdayrecently, right?
Yeah, on friday birthday, happybirthday, danny shot him on the
podcast, the big three.
Oh yeah, oh, geez, he's been onthe podcast before he did, uh,
the leonardo caprio movie withme.
Uh, killing of the flower moon,or something like that, oh,
(13:11):
yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, he didthat movie with me.
Um, yeah, three.
Oh man, I've been callingmyself 30 even though I'm 29.
Like I'm just right there, so Imight as well just start
calling myself man, we'regetting old uh, speaking of
being 30 year old, um, I'm 30years old and I'm still buying
these cool ass popcorn buckets.
I know we talked about, uh,last episode you buying one, did
you get one?
Speaker 2 (13:31):
no, because I was
running late, like I wanted to
surprise you by having like thebig one, um, but ran into the
theater, grabbed my littlesticker, uh, and there was a
long ass line for the popcorns.
I was like I'm just here towatch today, but you got a long
ass line for the popcorns.
I was like I'm just here towatch today.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
But you got a dope
ass.
Fantastic Four shirt on today.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Hey, is it just blue?
Speaker 1 (13:50):
with a four logo.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah, it's a little
plain one, but that's kind of
what I liked about it, because Ihave, like these light blue
Jordans that match with it, so Iwas like that's my fit right
there.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
So they do have that
in the show, in the movie, like
a plain white shirt, blue shirtwith like a four logo on it, and
even the thing had like a longsleeve that maybe it looked
tough All it was that longsleeves.
Yeah, cool, like I want to gobuy it, like I'll, especially
after seeing the movie.
All my TikTok shop is just likeFantastic Four t-shirts, merch.
(14:20):
I did buy a Fantastic Fourpopcorn bucket.
I posted on my story and I and Iknow I saw you saw it right
away.
It's like damn, I wasn't gonnapost it, but this is.
I got this one at imagine.
It's a simple popcorn bucket.
It's shaped like a regularpopcorn bucket but it has, like
the, all their characters andbased on.
I'll post a video so people geta better view it.
But the bottom is mr fantasticthe thing human torch, and then
(14:43):
on top it's the visible woman.
The cool thing about this bucketis that you can twist it and
take them apart so each layercomes out, if you want to.
The only thing I didn't likeabout it it comes apart real
easily.
It came apart almost likeknocking stuff out when I was
eating popcorn.
This is also the first popcornbucket.
I actually let them put popcornin and I ate all the popcorn.
(15:03):
Okay, usually I don't do thatbecause I don't want to mess it
up, but you christened it I.
I yeah, yeah, but I made sure Ididn't get butter in it because
I want to fuck it up.
Um, but I thought you couldreorganize.
I thought you could reorganizethese into different, like the
human torso, the bottom orsomething like that, but no,
they don't fit that way.
So I don't know really what thepoint is of them separating
(15:24):
like that yeah, no, that's uh, Ijust love that.
The invisible woman is just,it's just clear, clear yeah, I'm
gonna put a logo on that I alsoam kind of disappointed in the
way it feels, the way it lookslike.
I thought it was like a moreleathery kind of like, kind of
like the superman movie ones.
Yeah, feel to it.
It's just hard plastic.
I don't know where it reallywas.
I'll expect something different.
(15:45):
Okay, um, okay, I loved it.
Like I said, this is the firsttime ever I ate popcorn out of a
popcorn bucket that I boughtand necked it.
I necked that whole thing, dude.
The end of the movie, it wasall gone um, what's your?
Speaker 2 (15:56):
uh, I know we talked
about this.
What's your go-to pairing withpopcorn?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
um, I usually only
get pink lemonade at the uh
coca-cola fountain things okay,we've definitely never talked
about this before, becausethat's diabolical.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
No, pink lemonade and
popcorn is a everything.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
If I don't get
popcorn, I still get the pink
lemonade that guy, either pinklemonade or every once in a long
while, do the orange, I see,but I don't really.
I don't like doing coke or orlike soda, like in that in the
theater, like that.
I just feel like I'm sitting inGreece almost.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Yeah, well, what I?
Speaker 1 (16:28):
wrote once in a long
long while I will enjoy a slushy
like mixing them up, but that'skind of.
That's all.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Yeah, that's if I'm
treating myself yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
That's mostly if,
like I have been doing, um, I
did also surprise, like I'vedone, very well not posting this
for you to see it, but I I didget the herbie popcorn bucket
this thing.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Stop it right now.
That's crazy this thing, liftit up lift it up a little more
for us this thing is massive.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
I love this thing.
I'm not posting thatspecifically for this is
hilarious, because I know I'mgonna keep it I know I did post
a TikTok of it and maybe like 20minutes before start recording
Because I knew you weren't goingto see it in time.
But for those who don't know,it's a popcorn bucket that is
shaped and modeled exactly offof Herbie from the robot In the
Fantastic Four movie.
The cool thing about this youopen up his chest and it's a
(17:26):
little apartment for his candyand his backpack in the back.
You open it up this whole thingback here.
You can put popcorn all the wayto the bottom with popcorn in
there.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
But the only thing I
don't like about it I was like,
practically, how are you eatingout of that?
Speaker 1 (17:38):
thing I don't know
either.
It's an all in one because alsothis lid comes off, you can put
your soda in there.
Stop it.
And his head is the drink thing.
It's an all-in-one because alsothis lid comes off, you can put
your soda in there, stop it.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
And his head is the
drink.
Thing.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
It has a slot for a
straw on the top, but either
they didn't come with it or theyjust didn't give it to me Cause
I don't have one, which isweird, like it's not a big deal.
I can find a straw like anysize it's.
It doesn't give it to mebecause I don't have one, which
is weird, like it's not a bigdeal.
I can find a straw like anysize it's.
It doesn't stop there, brandon,it does not stop there.
He has two eyes.
I don't know if you can hearthis.
It plays the fantastic fourtheme logo.
(18:17):
That's baller also.
If you hit the other eye, youcan't really see it in the light
, but it does project, um, thefantastic four logo.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
I'm gonna okay, I see
it glowing a little bit.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
All right it's.
This thing is massive.
Um and I know we mentioned thegalactus popcorn bucket too I
was gonna go buy that one.
I let me tell you the storyabout this.
This is wild.
I was gonna go buy it and getboth of them, actually, because
I was like, fuck it, I'm gonnaspend money.
The only reason I'm comfortablewith spending money on these
popcorn buckets is because Idon't foresee myself wanting any
(18:49):
other pocket or the rest of theyear.
You know what I mean.
So I was like you know what, let me just ball out in these
ones.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Yeah, go crazy.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
And the Galactus one
came out the same day.
They only released on Thursday.
I work Thursday and I get off Ican.
By the time I get to a theaterit's like four, 30.
So two 30 comes like let mecall the one I'm going to go to
to make sure they even have it,cause sometimes they don't have
the bigger ones.
I call them.
They said yeah, we have it, butthey're selling out, so I'll
get here quick.
I was like damn, I can window.
(19:27):
So of course, like I get off, there's a bunch of construction.
This is horrible.
Traffic probably adds an extra10 minutes to my drive.
Oh, get there, they're sold outof the galactus bucket.
I was like son of a bitch.
They sold out like wrong.
When I first called, I was likedamn it.
So I had been herbie and Ican't complain because this one
is probably the better one, justbecause it has all the actual
features to it.
The other galactus one, it wasjust big and the light eyes lit
(19:48):
up, lit up.
Uh, I have no idea where Iwould have put that thing.
I'm still gonna, if I comeacross it, I'm probably still
gonna buy it, but uh, thisherbie one, I don't know what
I'm gonna do with either two,but the cool thing is like it
can sit on the floor and justlook cool that's what I'm saying
, dude.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
That like it being a
popcorn bucket is like the fifth
coolest thing about it.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Like it is a dope,
yeah, um, there are other cool
popcorn buckets out there, likethere's one of the fantastic car
, which is very cool.
I'm not a big fan of the car.
Yeah, they did it forthunderbolts.
They also did it for um, acouple other movies.
Yeah, with, the whole top ofthe car comes off and that's
just kind of lame to you, butthe car itself look cool.
(20:30):
I'll give it that.
Um, yeah, I'm excited, I'msuper happy with this purchase.
I can make a couple cool videosover it after this.
But uh, yeah, I thought I triedso hard not to post it to
surprise you with it that is.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
I'm so glad you did
that.
That is so I.
I love every everything aboutthat.
I, I, my thoma, was goingthrough the roof and like I wish
you would post it, because thenI would have had to just double
down and get something crazybecause that that'd be cool.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
I thought about
getting another one the same
thing and raffling it off forthe podcast, but um, I ain't got
money like that.
I don't want to tell you howmuch I spent on this, because it
was.
It was more.
It was just as much as thegalactus one.
Oh no, I asked them if they'regonna get more and they said no.
They only said the one box, which is like nine of them in
(21:20):
there.
I was that's it, that's all youhad to sell was nine.
That's crazy to me.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Alright, you know
they said I am the opposite of
you.
I did not get.
All I got was my free.
It was free but it came withthe movie.
They gave us these thisfantastic four like patch kit,
which is kind of dope.
So you know, I just gottafigure out what I want, to patch
(21:50):
it onto see.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I'm jealous of that
because I didn't get that, I
well, I also didn't go to an amcyeah, yeah, I saw it like I.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
I was surprised they
gave it to me because it was
technically for a 3d event thatthey were hosting.
But they had a box of them.
They say you want to seefantastic four handed me that in
my ticket.
I I was like let's go Hell.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yeah, are you a
physical ticket guy?
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I try to be dude.
It's on my phone, especially asan A-lister.
You just keep it pushing andsometimes I don't know if this
happens to you no one's thereand I'm not going to the counter
.
I know where my seat is.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
But yeah, I want to
be, yeah, same thing like I like
doing, like keeping them forkeepsake.
Um, there we go, yeah, and so,like you know, like the
a-listers, it's all on our phonenow.
Um, yeah, sometimes the peoplearen't there and they just
expect to go check in at thefront, like the concession
counter.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I was like that's
very trusting well, I, I tried
doing like a uh, I'll see if Ican see it.
I have like one of thoseportable printers that you can
make stickers out of.
I like make my own, like I justprint out the QR code, like I'm
leaving here with something, soI try to just have something
for each of them that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
I like that.
That's cool.
Let's go into the movie beforethe movie started.
Actually, after all thetrailers and after, like, the
amc trailer and everything likethat, where movies you know?
Uh, where, what's her name?
Um nc spock nicole kidmannicole kidman after her video.
That's usually when the moviestarts, but it wasn't with the
case with this one.
It was um.
The trailer for avatar 3 dude.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Oh my god, in real
time.
Sorry, that just hyped me up inreal time.
I wanted to take out my phoneand and text you because I was
like this is such a like arandom experience and I was like
I that's why I wish I went withsomeone else, because my
theater was.
That was the one thing I'll say.
They were not as hyped on thatas I was, like they just thought
(23:43):
it was a normal trailer and Iwas like we're getting the first
look right here, especiallybecause I wasn't expecting that.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
That was pretty cool.
That was very cool.
They did the same thing withOdyssey during Jurassic World,
but this one hit differentbecause it's a full-length
trailer.
Versus Odyssey it was like alittle clip.
What do you think about it?
Are you excited to see it?
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Does it look cool or
are you just kind of over it?
Hell yeah, I don't like lovethose as much as like everybody
else, but I think they're cooland I think they're like an
event type movie and I reallyenjoyed the last one, like it
was.
I'm not a 3d guy, don't like itnot, not here for it best movie
I've ever seen in 3d.
Like felt like it was like whatthey did with it.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Like was, was I went
to see it twice in 3d Um.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
So yeah, I was pretty
.
I was just waiting for, likethem, it's obviously called fire
and ash and I was like I knowthey're going to be red, I'm
just waiting to see it.
And when they finally came atthe end of the trailer, I was
like that shit's dope.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
That's cool.
They did a really good jobabout making it look like you're
in that world.
It's pretty sick.
I love that.
How did?
Speaker 2 (24:44):
you like the trailer.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
I liked it a lot.
It was cool.
It was long Again.
I think you just get the wholeconcept of the whole movie.
It looks like they go to a newnation.
Something happens with the kids.
The rest of the movie is themtrying to rescue the kids, Kind
of like the second one.
It's been a minute since I'veseen that one too, so I gotta
rewatch them before it comes out.
And then the movie just startsLike it starts with like nothing
(25:07):
dramatic, it's just like like aregular day read Richard and
Sue storm, or in the bathroom Iwas like I talked to my is this,
it Is this starting and it waspretty cool.
It was very interesting thatway and like it's very
interesting out the movieannouncing that they're pregnant
with Franklin.
This is also the first evertime Franklin Richard, Franklin
Reed has been in the movies.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Yeah, I mean, and to
that point too, like I know, we
both really started trying toavoid as many TV spots that was
happening.
But in the first trailer, likeobviously that's the one, like
the big thing that stuck out,and I was like man, that's like
you know, that's kind of a bigspoiler, like that they just put
that in there, very happy tosee it happens in the first five
minutes.
Like it kind of put me at ease.
I was like all right, there's alot about this movie that I
(25:50):
don't actually know yet.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Um, so way to set the
tone, and this movie takes the
span of maybe like 10, 11 months.
It's kind of crazy because yousee, from first finding out
she's pregnant and then shegives birth, and then the he's
already tolerated by the end ofthe movie.
So it's it's kind of wild tosee how long this movie was.
That being said, I do think itwas well-paced throughout the
(26:14):
whole time.
I didn't really check my time.
It's only like less than twohours, if not more.
Yeah, it did not feel like that.
It felt very long to me, whichis in a good way, in a good way.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Yeah, I mean even to
that point, like I know this is
like some one 55, I thinkSuperman was like two oh three,
Like I did leave Supermanwanting like more this.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
But I was like
perfect.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
And the right one.
It needed to.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Like felt very, very
good about the pacing and like
yeah and yeah and then, like itcuts to the marvel logo, which
is not a traditional marvelmarvel logo.
I don't know if you notice thatit's.
You know it's usually like uhclips from other movies to spell
out the world marvel.
This one just has the blue andwhite version.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Um, like the old
school retro way well, I've
noticed that like that's the newthing.
Um then, like I think it's beenthat way since phase four, I
first, or at least since uh, newWorld, and it pissed me off in
Brave New World because it waslike black and white oh yeah.
But then with Thunderbolts itwas different in a good way,
like I forgot what it was, but Iliked it.
(27:14):
And then this one I was likeall right, like retro.
Like all right, I can get behindthis part.
And there was one, I think itwas just animated.
Oh, I think it was justanimated.
Oh yeah, I think that wasThunderbolt, I think it was
animated, so I I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
I mean, if you're
going to, if you're going to
change it, I would rather youchange it back to the original
way with the comics.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
That's what I yeah, I
see I'm split.
I my hard stances.
I wish it was all the regularMarvel one.
That was my personal preference, but I do appreciate.
All right, if we're going tochange it, at least it matched
the vibe or tone of the movie.
Like I do kind of like as longas the Marvel logo is still
there, because and this isreally selfish I love a good
(27:58):
title card Like that's like whatI wait for, like that's my snap
, like I time it.
So that throws me off when likethat one's different, but I do
like it aesthetically it lookscool.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
I'm not gonna lie
this one, it is pretty tough, it
is.
It fits the theme a lot.
Um, I mean it is modeled off of, like a cinema, a famous cinema
theater in hollywood, one ofthe paramount studios, or maybe
a wonder boat something, excuseme, something like that.
Um, so it does have meaningbehind it too, and we let's go
down the whole casting looksbecause, well, there we'll start
(28:33):
with our goods about this movieand I don't know if you have
any complaints, but I do have acouple of complaints, not any
complaints, but like things Iwish I would seen a little bit
better.
But, uh, any doubts I had aboutthis casting all went away
within like the first 20 minutes, within the first 10 minutes.
I would say it was such goodcasting with every single one of
these characters.
Everyone's biggest concern aboutPedro Pascal is that he's too
(28:54):
old to play this and he'severywhere at the same time
right now, let's say most of thetime.
You could definitely tell it'sPedro Pascal acting in this
movie, like it's Pedro Pascalbasically in any other role.
This one, I feel like he doesembody Reed Richard a little bit
more.
He does talk a little bitdifferent in this movie.
His body movements are a littlebit different to the point
where it's almost creepy to somepeople.
(29:16):
Have you even seen that goingaround?
Speaker 2 (29:18):
It's like, oh, that's
what acting is, huh yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Vanessa Kirby.
Like I said, I wasn't toofamiliar with her work.
I just I was biased just offher looks, but she looked a lot
like susan storm, um, but whatshe brought to the table with it
was so great she definitelystood out out of the whole four,
out of all four of them, whichI think she was supposed to a
little bit.
I think it was declared thatshe is the leader of the
fantastic four.
Um, johnny storm played by, uh,joseph quinn.
(29:49):
Biggest concern, I was biggestone I was worried about mostly
because the hair everyone isgonna hate him.
The hair like his blonde.
It was obviously not his realhair, uh, but once you're
watching the movie you don'teven really notice it that
different, you know it just likeit's who he is and he takes
such a different turn on thecharacter.
Instead of being a ladies manand not really and more care
about the fame and stuff likethat, he still likes the fame
(30:10):
because he does play with toysor points out the toys that he
gets.
Um, but, like I said, you dosee a lot of more of the science
side of his.
You see him be the one who putsthe plan together at the end,
basically when that whole silversurfer scene with him.
You know, he, he does bring alot to the table.
And, same thing with the thinga lot of people say he didn't
have enough to do with it.
But, like I said, I don't knowhow much you want him to do to
fight galactus, like he can'tpunch his way out of that.
(30:32):
But so they emphasize his otherstrength.
Like you see him as a scientist, you see him as a pilot, you see
him as an uncle, uh, he'sdefinitely there's, there's glue
holding this family togetherand it takes all of them to put
that glue in.
And the biggest one I thinkthat helps that glue is herbie.
Like it's someone that helpsthem all in their own ways.
Uh, he's like almost like a petand like a psychic and also
(30:54):
like an alexa in a way.
Um, silver surfer julia garnerfantastic, everyone hated that
announcement.
Everyone hated the announcementthat was gonna be a female
silver surfer, didn't evennotice it.
And on top of that you couldadd layers to it by having that
whole flirting thing with herand johnny throughout the movie.
Um, how'd you feel about that?
(31:15):
Did you feel like that was kindof like unnecessary?
Did you think it added no, I, Iit worked for their characters.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
This is the thing
that's important.
Like even I remember verysimilar I, when this was
announced, I almost likefacepalm, because not because I
was mad that it was, they weregoing with the female version,
just because I knew theinternet's reaction.
Like I hate when I can see shitlike that coming.
But she did this interview andshe was like, yeah, people are
freaking out, but this is notthe Silver Surfer.
Everyone knows.
If you look in the comics, thisis Shia LaBeouf, like and like
(31:52):
I, just like, oh yeah, likethere is a Silver service.
So like, even like being like.
No, this is backed up by comicsand you know, very similar to
you about, uh, joseph quinn, Iprefer like the ladies band, you
know thing, but to have thatwhere that his first thing is,
you know, like just starting tolike her.
You know I finally find someonewho interests me and now I
gotta go do this.
Like I, I appreciate theirconnection and it made sense to
me yeah, 100, agree with it.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Um, joseph quinn, I
mean he was funny with it too,
not like I wouldn't say as funnyas chris evans's uh, human
torch, but like he was funny ina subtle way, like he kept.
He was definitely I wouldn'tsay serious in the movie.
He was definitely light-hearted.
He's someone who I can seegetting along with tom holland
spider-man a lot, which is whateveryone wants.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
I saw a meme today
and it was like those two
talking.
It was like I've been to space, have you been?
It's like, yeah, I had to fightthis big purple alien.
Oh, me too.
I can absolutely see both ofthem just chatting it up.
I'd pay so much money to be afly on the wall.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yeah, yeah, I'm also
seeing fans wanting um a
christmas special with afantastic four, which I think
would be awesome like how we gotthe gardens of the galaxy
holiday special.
We can easily do that with thisfantastic four being a family.
Um, also, it'd be cool.
Just do a holiday special withall mcu, like bruce banner
(33:06):
gifting gifting, like a BuckyBarnes, like a present or
something like that.
You know that'd be pretty coolLike a holiday party.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Avenger style secrets
.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
And it'd be as filled
in the style of the office.
That'd be pretty fun.
So, uh, you know who else arewe talking about, galactus.
So my biggest thing about thismovie that I it was hard for me
to enjoy is because I somewhatseen a lot of the stuff already
in the trailers and all those tvspots and everything like that.
(33:39):
I did my best to try to avoidas much as I could, but after a
while they just showed a lot andtoo much at some points and to
the point when I was watchingthis it almost felt like too
familiar, like almost like, oh,I've already seen this before.
And also, to their credit, theyalso filmed a lot of stuff for
the trailers that was not in themovie.
Did you notice that?
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Yeah, yeah, well, so
I missed a lot.
Thankfully, like I, genuinely Iwas looking back.
I think I saw the first twotrailers and I think one teaser,
and that was it.
The only thing I rememberreally seeing about galactus is
when he was stomping through newyork, and then the statue of
liberty scene, um so, everythingelse, like his ship, like his
look, uh, the bigger version ofhim, like that was still during
(34:21):
the movie experience.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
So thank god so they
did its best about holding off
the way galactus looks untillike maybe a week ago, a week
before the release.
But they did do a great job ofnot showing his voice at all in
this movie, which is the biggestreason why this actor let me
see his name, ralph Eynson whichis the main reason why he was
(34:46):
cast in this role is because ofhis voice and man was his voice
intimidating in this movie itechoed, it was huge, like it
embodied um galactus in such acool way and his massive size in
the movie too.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
there's a point when
you first meet him like they're
looking out into space trying tofind him, and then his eyes
glow up and he's like massive, freaking, incredible um it was
so dope and uh, he did aninterview where he was like yeah
, you like studied naturaldisasters, like just so I can
like like get into the mindsetof being like I am terrifying,
(35:20):
like I like that's, but likepeace, like it's.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
I'm just saying it
how it is well, that's like how
vin diesel did when he voicegrew to see that he would walk
around on stilts throughout thewhole studio just to get in the
mindset of being kind of staredat.
And then all by, groot is a bigtall character, a big gruesome
character that people findinteresting, and he wanted to
get in that mindset too, so hewould wear stilts around the
(35:43):
studio just talking to people.
That's to me that's going alittle above and beyond the
2000s.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
He has the job of the
century, gets to record three
lines and it's played and he cando it from anywhere.
It's just I'm still veryjealous that he never has to
record again.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Yeah, well, he does a
cool thing He'll record his
lines in all different kind oflanguages.
I guess really him, which issick, yeah, but with that fact
being known, could you tell hewas walking around on stilts
recording his lines?
No, no, it sounds the same asiron giant, you know, you don't.
Yeah, uh, the silver surferscenes like we can talk about
that, because I was so excitedwhen I seen them.
(36:25):
I really want to talk to youabout you, um, how she uses her
surfboard.
She's like really surfing, likethese lava and these flames and
all this different kind ofstuff that we've never really
seen before.
It makes it like makes sensethat she has a surfboard.
That you know it's.
It's sick, I love it.
She's surfing the wormhole whenthey're trying to go through
light speed and light she's fastas hell, bro yeah man, I tell
(36:50):
you, one time I really gaspedlike covering my mouth kind of
thing is, when she was chasingthem to get the franklin when
she was pregnant and she stickslike a couple fingers in her
stomach to grab it before beingpulled away for the last second.
But that was intense for me,that one kind of gave me
goosebumps a little bit that wasthe edge of my seat dude.
That's my standout scene, because I went and he went like
straight to like get us out likekill her bro, like we are in
(37:13):
danger, absolutely, absolutelyyeah, and that scene with her
and Johnny, when he's like findout the voice recordings and it
kind of learned how to speak ourlanguage a little bit.
I thought that was veryfar-fetched.
Like this, the only way he hasa handful of recordings that he
got from space that a messagetrying to look for the silver
server.
So then he she translates likeone sentence from him, like the
(37:39):
smallest sentence, like it's bewith the one you love, or
something like that, and he'sable from that one sentence he
was able to like dissect, likethe figure out the entire
language and even learn how tospeak it himself, learn how to
say her name, right, it's likeain't no way, ain't no way.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
From that one
sentence so you know spoiler for
a whole nother thing projecthell mary has a very similar uh
thing that happens.
So I'm kind of like I think Iwas a little bit more receptive
to it.
But yeah, I was like theyprobably could have done more,
especially because you have likereed in the building.
Like if reed would have done itI wouldn't have blinked twice.
But maybe because it was johnnyand like the technology that
(38:14):
they had available, I was like I, I, I get it like it's just
right over the realm of what I'mwilling to believe yeah, yeah,
you make a good point.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Reed kind of figured
it out, I would not doubt it at
all, but I think they neededsomething for johnny to do like
he.
Yeah, he helped design the newspacesuits and everything like
that.
Um, but that was a cool moment.
That was a cool moment, it wasit was, and that's the thing it
was.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Because it paid off
so quickly and so impactfully, I
kind of let it slide like that.
We kind of just you know, linkedin wished our way to that,
to that resolution even ben, like giving him kudos like
johnny.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
That was amazing.
You know, that was a very coolscene alone, just to hear them
say that.
Um, I do want to go back to suestorm though, because I think
in the beginning of the movieit's talked way over like her
accomplishment, accomplishmentsas accomplishments, as sue storm
was glossed over.
And I don't think, no, theworld, if the movie audience
(39:14):
knows this, but like the worldin this world, is kind of at
peace right now, all because ofSue Storm, like she convinced
everyone to give up their armies, all the countries, which is
never unheard of.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
It's very.
It's like a different versionof the UK and if you take that
and again, not to keep comparingthis to Superman, but like
there's like literal worldconflict going on, that he's
just one dude trying to, likeyou know, resolve.
She's like the respect that shehas alone and just like how she
talks to people.
You, you feel it immediately.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
Yeah, and then for
this movie to be like ah, she's
just the mom now, you know likeit's kind of wild.
I would like to see a littlebit more as a world leader.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
That'd be I think
that was the thing.
I think like, uh, because thescene where you know she was
like oh, before you go onmaternity leave or like whatever
, like.
I think that that's what Iappreciate about her.
She doesn't have to be hands-onand like everything, she just
like, like, she just has thataura that you know she's not
doing the nitty-gritty work, she's just like all right, you
(40:13):
like, come on and people are allright, you're right she's.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
She was fantastic in
this movie.
Um, this is the best way todescribe this movie.
It's fantastic.
You know it's very on the nose, but she definitely stood out.
Like I said, she was more theleader role.
She has a great monologue inthe middle of the movie when she
was trying to convince this isa spoiler alert, but convincing
the public to like this is myson and I'm not going to give
(40:40):
him up, but I'm also not goingto let you guys down.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
That was a great
monologue, would you say I'm not
going to sacrifice my son forthe world, but I'm not going to
sacrifice the world, but I'm notgonna sacrifice the world for
my son.
I was like, I literally waslike almost tearing up.
I was like, damn, it's a bar, yeah yeah, and then from her
impact.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
Well, the way she
uses the powers too is
incredible.
Like I know they in that happysecond fuse podcast I mentioned.
They do dive deep in how shewould move.
Like she tried being original.
She didn't want it to be likescarlet witch with her movements
in her hands and like her wholebody like that, but it's kind
of hard not to, because they'revery similar in the way they use
them, but the way theyphysically make it look like
(41:19):
she's bending light or you canreally see the energy force
around them.
It was awesome to see, likeespecially the end where she's
given it her all and then seeall that light fixture it's I
didn't know how to describe it,but it was amazing.
It was breathtaking.
(41:39):
Um, her invisible.
You don't really see herherself turn invisible a lot.
Besides, when she appears inthe bed with ben as a joke, it's
just scary.
It was awesome, like easilywith, uh, jessica alba's version
, you kind of seen some outlineof her at least I know she's
there.
That was cool.
They did that and she's also.
We see her strength on makingthe whole ship be invisible a
couple times.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
I love that like and
I've obviously we've seen this
before but like having thatability to transform everything
around you is like so and likeshe does a good job of shuttling
, like the power level of it.
It's not like she's doing thiswith ease, you know, even like
some things like that just liketakes a little bit and it just
kind of adds that extra laterand then see like where she's
(42:17):
even able to do it while givingbirth insane, right.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Yeah, you know our,
our go-to.
I don't remember anything aboutthe invisible woman from the
miles tyler one, but the jessicaalba version.
They definitely use her more aslike a play, like a joke, like
to sexualize her a little bit.
Uh, because there's sceneswhere she comes up in her bra
and you know stuff like that.
And this one she definitely wasmore of a scientist, she was
(42:41):
more of a mom, she was more of aleader in this movie.
Um, she was the hero at the endof it, the main hero that won
everything.
Now this is where the negativescome into play.
That is also one of thenegatives that I kind of have,
and most of the internet has toothat she, the third, the second
half of the movie kind of fallsoff a little bit.
It was.
It didn't keep up as the firsthalf okay and that scene where
(43:05):
it was sue the one to kind oflike go hulk mode when she sees
her baby in trouble, which iscool, I get it, but for her to
be she's seeing almostsingle-handedly took down
galactus, I would say, besideslike so I feel very strongly
about this.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
Okay, she didn't take
down galactus like all she did
was push this mother at her, yeah, 100 feet, you know, like
it wasn't like, like you saidwith the thing, it wasn't like
this big punch out or like shedefeated him.
All she did was move him likefrom one space to another, which
is her power set.
So in that environment that'sthe whole point of having people
(43:40):
with different powers she, actually she didn't even do that
because he came right back.
It actually took something elseto defeat him.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Um, so it didn't
bother me, it didn't bother me
one bit it kind of bothered me alittle bit, uh, and also you
know, what bothered me is um, Iguess there's a limit on how
much pedro pascal's mr fantasticcan stretch in this movie.
I didn't like that, yeah,because it wasn't that far.
Like you see him stretchthroughout the whole movie a
little bit, and besides also Ididn't really care for, like all
(44:09):
you do is see him like stretchhis arm or legs, something like
that.
You like you don't really seehim do too much more than that,
but he does get stretched outalmost like the point where it's
tearing.
It looks like and it wasn'tthat crazy, it was nothing crazy
yeah, it wasn't foreign.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
I think that's my
issue with that one.
It wasn't far enough and notfor nothing, and maybe this is
just how the scene was going.
He, he started to be in pain tooquickly from I like it like he
got stretched and then it waslike oh no, like well, I'm like,
dude, you've got to.
You must have tested this foryour scientists.
Like it doesn't.
It's not like doing that hurtsso, especially if it's elastic.
(44:43):
I get like if he would havedone that at the end, maybe, but
I was just like all right, that's.
That was an interesting choice.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
Yeah, especially
seeing the original one, like in
the original Silver Surfermovie where he stretched over
the save affairs wheel I don'tknow if you remember that.
Yeah, he was not far this long.
Yeah, and seeing, like Johnny,I don't know the plan to get
away from Galactus.
It was too simple for me alittle bit.
Let's just put prongs aroundthe whole globe and I'll zap us
(45:14):
away.
And I was like there's too manyvariables, there's too many
things that I'm like is the moongonna come with you guys?
That's gonna change a lot ofthings on earth, like how far
you're gonna be away from thesun.
That's gonna change a ton ofstuff.
They did say it's within liketwo percent margins, like the
differences, but like there'sstill too many questions like is
it?
This has never been tested onthe planet.
You know, like I'm kind ofnervous about this myself.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
I think I needed a
scene and maybe this is crazy
where he teleported a human.
I think that's what I wasmissing, because from going from
I guess I know he said organic, but I know going from an egg to
the world was a little bit toobig of a jump Like I do wish
that there was like watch us dothis building first, Right.
(45:57):
Or watch us do like thisenvironment let's take the
Statue of Liberty and put it inParis, you know.
And then I would have been likeall right, we feel confident
about this.
But yeah, that was really, really bold.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
Yeah, and they also
had to convince the entire
planet to like go along withthis plan, like to shut off the
power for a little bit.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
I was that part made
sense to me for two distinct
reasons.
One, because what we justtalked about with sue, we're at
peace like everyone's at leaston the same page with.
Like we've shown that we canget to an agreement.
Two, if we don't do it, theworld's ending tomorrow.
Y'all choose so like there'snot too much.
What are you arguing about?
Don't give me the supplies, don't get this done and you can
(46:40):
fight next week, but like wehave a three-day hold on you not
being alive anymore.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
That's a pretty good
motivator to work together but I
was also thinking about, like, what about hospitals, or what
about this and that you know?
So that needs power.
Um, I'm sure there are someexceptions, I don't.
They don't really hold divedeep into that.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
That was just also,
which is fine actually, the more
that I would have learned aboutit, the more I probably got
annoyed.
Keep it general.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Yeah, don't explain
it for me.
I'm looking too much deep intoit.
Um, how'd you feel about thethings, things, my beard I, I
didn't bother me.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
I thought it was
funny, it didn't bother me I
thought it was cool.
Speaker 1 (47:20):
Like, I guess not
cool enough, because it's like
no, zero the promotions oranything like that.
Yeah, um, or zero like the toys, or or even like fortnite skin
by the way, I will come back tofortnite skins because I'm
excited to talk about that um,but what I liked most about this
movie is, um, you didconstantly feel a sense of
danger throughout the wholemovie.
(47:40):
Like there are moments in themovie where you are not sure he
can pull this off if galactus isgonna win, because the trailers
definitely portray that.
Like, and especially the endingof thunderbolts.
Um, you think they are going todestroy their world and that's
why they're going to come to ourworld.
Um, so the whole time, like, you're thinking like, oh man,
like are they really going to beable to pull it?
Speaker 2 (48:00):
off.
How's it gonna happen?
100, yeah, that was my exactthing and you know a positive
and a negative for me.
Um was the actual threat ofGalactus.
Like the moment.
First off, I love the let's gotalk to him, like I don't know
some of that didn't work.
That worked for me, and not evenlike the spoiler part.
But when we do see whatGalactus can do, they were like
(48:24):
we're not going to win, like Iappreciate the not, like there's
hope we are not going to beatthis.
We actually have to go.
My real, actual nitpick that Icould not fathom why it happened
is when Mr Fantastic told theworld what the tradeoff would be
(48:45):
Like.
Why would you tell them that itwas so stupid?
I'm like this is the smartestguy in the world, like you know
what the reaction to that'sgoing to be.
Like you did, you could havekept that one close to the vest.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Page of Pascal was, I
think, my favorite performance
in that scene.
Those scenes alone, like whenthey pulled up to that planet.
You see Galactus, that's hisfirst introduction to them.
Is him coming out of a planeteating it?
Um, and you see page, all likethe most scared out of all them,
like he was, like he couldn'tbelieve what he saw.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Um, he definitely
brings a lot of character like
the more serious side to um, mrfantastic and that's the thing
about him too, like, uh, in thecomics, like you know, even the
first one actually like theoriginal mr fantastic, a little
bit more charisma, but like thething is he's a dick because he
like is so practical and you seethat they explore that in this
(49:36):
movie.
But, like you saw, the momentthat happened, his wheels are
turning like he's already doingthe math on survival.
He's very he takes everythingseriously like he has.
Like that is what I reallyappreciate about what pedro
brought to this.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
I I really felt that
like non-malicious thought
process, like he's very lockedin, so I kind of almost disagree
, like I don't see him being adick a lot in this movie.
But I think that mostly has todo with they are mostly
interacting amongst themselvesin this movie with the phone you
don't you don't really see himtalking to anybody else and
(50:10):
obviously, yeah, he does haveseen it with um, with sue, about
like discussing possibly givingup the baby.
Um, he's kind of a dick in thatin the way of he was just
talking out loud saying what'sethical and stuff like that.
But I, other than that, like II wish he got a little bit more
snippier with the tv reportersand stuff like that and um, yeah
, well, I think that's.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
That's what I mean
when I say me I'm a dick.
Like how you know, the vanessakirby miss uh visible woman.
She is very like don't you darego down that train of thought.
But like it was very clear inthe movie.
He's done that, he alreadyknows like and he and he stands
his ground on there.
Obviously he like concedes toher uh, but he's like at the end
(50:51):
of the day, like we, this isour only option like.
Speaker 1 (50:55):
I appreciate that
they didn't shy away from that
part um, let's talk about thischaracter, paul walker, paul
walter hauser, who plays moleman.
In the beginning of the movieit does showcase like where they
, how they got to this point intheir lives and one of the thing
was defeating mole man and yousee him for a brief moment.
I was like oh man, is that itlike?
Speaker 2 (51:15):
I wanted to see more
of him and he does come back a
couple times in the movie andhe's hilarious he is, so he is
in a completely different movieand typically that like will
piss me off or like throw me outof it and I love this dude.
Did you ever watch the showCobra Kai?
no, I have not, he's like a bigpart of there, like just this
dude's goofiness and he fits andI love that.
(51:38):
Like when it got announced thathe was going to be in the movie
I was watching Jeremy Johnson,he made the joke like the
collective internet was likethat's mole man, I just know it
when you see it and very similar.
When I first thought I was like, oh man, he must have like done
somebody a favor and came onset for the day.
That's almost a waste, buthappy to see he was in way more
of the movie than I thought ohyeah, yeah, he was.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
This is another thing
.
Like I said, like it's adifferent universe so you can
throw anything in there, and thefact that he has a whole city
to himself underground.
There's no way that would getaway like who the city's just
okay with having on the ground, like, yeah, that's yours, you
can have that in a way.
But my favorite joke from himthroughout the movie was to
johnny.
He just fucking took a shot onfor no reason, like johnny white
(52:21):
looks.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
So, man, I didn't
dress you, he just took a shot
at him for no reason, absolutelyowns every scene.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
He's in a big, big,
big shout out to uh paul yeah,
all right, so now let's talkabout the end credit scenes.
Were you surprised to see?
This is a big spoiler, but I'llput the spoiler in the
description.
Um, were you surprised to seeevent dr do?
Speaker 2 (52:48):
get collective.
This is why I like going toopen at night Collective gas
from my theater and then, likethe cut, we were like what?
Like the murmurs, as like therest of the credits I had.
No, I maybe should have sawthat coming.
No concept, great, very happyto happen.
I'm stressed.
It was also kind of interestingto like see them fast forward
(53:12):
four years.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, that was strange you
gotta think the time from themovie and the end credit scene.
I feel like that time of theirlives is probably paradise.
Like you already defeatedgalactus, that was like the
hardest thing you ever had to doand everyone's like.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
You were already
beloved and now you just like
shut, like doubled down.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
Yeah, yeah, it's
probably gonna be the best time
of our lives.
That being said, you know theylearn about Franklin's powers
and stuff like that.
So this is theories thatthere's.
This is how the Avengersdoomsday is going to start,
cause also, the next Avengersmovie, or next Marvel movie
itself, is going to be Avengersdoomsday, right.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
And that's also like
next December right.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
December yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:55):
That's insane.
We have to wait a long-ass time.
I mean there are going to beseveral shows that come out
between then, but I kind ofdoubt anything has to do with
the movies.
It was awesome.
The end credit scene was cool.
Like the very very end onesucked.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
I hated it like the
very, very end one sucked.
I hated it.
It was lame.
They could do something better.
It was.
I feel so strongly about this,so I'm not gonna get mad if you
knew because I don't know if youthought this that it would be
the thing that leads them to getto where we see them in
thunderbolts.
I'm not a huge fan of like they.
They know that people aresitting in the theater waiting
(54:30):
right like.
They know that this is like.
That was almost like.
How do we drum updisappointment?
So that's how I felt about thatthat the last true end credit
scene it probably would havebeen better if they swapped them
.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
I would say yes, yeah
, 100, yeah, 100 yeah, that
didn't make any sense to me Itotally want to go see it again.
The next day, on the friday, Itold my brother like let's just
go, we don't have to wait forthis one.
Like I told him what it was, Iwas like, yeah, you don't have
to save the friend sit for that.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
Yeah, like that, like
like a short episode, like a
real episode on disney plus orsomething you know yeah, yeah,
there's like a there's, I'm, andI don't even mind the gag ones,
like I remember I think it waslike Ant-Man and the Wasp, where
Antony was playing the drums.
All right, that one was myfavorite.
One that was kind of a wastewas the Captain America.
When it's just like patience, that one was funny.
(55:18):
When it's for a bit, I canalmost understand, but this one
I was just like you just wentfrom introducing the stakes and
freaking everybody out and nowyou just went for this Hell out
of here.
Speaker 1 (55:32):
I wish you would have
done a Mole man, one that would
have been sick.
Speaker 2 (55:34):
Yeah, I would have
been very okay with that.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
I mean it's kind of
hard because, like, I don't
think we're going to see thisworld again, I really don't
think we're going to see thisworld again.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
Like I think it's
going to problem because,
similar to you, if Doomsday isthe next movie, you got to pack
a lot in the how do we get thereAt least with this?
Is where my issue is.
Going from Ragnarok to InfinityWar, it's the same scene.
(56:06):
Ragnarok ends with them on theship.
Infinity War is when Thanosthem on the ship.
Infinity wars is when thanos isattacking the ship.
It is a very 1a, 1b and now, like thanos is here the stakes,
you don't need any catch-up.
It like goes here what the hellare they gonna do for doomsday?
Like, obviously take the scenewhere with franklin, but it's
just I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm alittle stressed.
(56:27):
I'm a little stressed also, youknow, robert downey jr has been
releasing comic books on hisstory and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
I'm a little stressed
, rob.
I'm a little stressed.
Also, you know, robert DowneyJr has been releasing comic
books on his story and stufflike that.
And Thunderbolts ended with awhole dispute about the name of
the Avengers.
I think they are going tointroduce the West Coast
Avengers that way.
Like you know what, you haveyour own Avengers, we'll have
our own.
Yeah, I can see that somethinglike that happening.
Yeah, I can see that somethinglike that happening.
Yeah, they are going to pick upwith the scene of Franklin.
But we also got to rememberMonica Rambeau is too, and also
(56:54):
is a different universe too.
So we've got to connect thatuniverse somehow.
Yeah, we've got to come back.
It's going to be a lot.
It is going to be a lot and Imean I do trust the Rooster
Brothers that they are the oneswho can do it.
Also, the directing scheifferfor this movie is that's the
name right matt chef, mattshackman sorry, um, and the
(57:14):
rooster brothers are totallydifferent styles.
It's gonna be a shock, culturalshock, when we go from the
fantastic world to our world onthe darker scene, almost yeah,
but I'm okay with that becauseas long as, like, like I said,
if it gets us in the same plane.
Speaker 2 (57:26):
But all right, here's
another question for you how
long is doomsday be?
Speaker 1 (57:31):
I think close to
three hours is what they said.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
Really Okay.
It can't be less than two and ahalf, there's no person.
Speaker 1 (57:39):
Also, like you, are
going to have to change the
Fantastic Four uniform becauseit works in their uniform,
because it's all bright andstuff like that when you come to
ours like.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
You see how Endgame
was shot.
It was so dark and gloomy, which it was supposed to because
it was a dark time.
Um, you all they typically havelike tactical outfits I can see
them doing that, but I like man, I like the white and blue,
like that.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
Yeah, this is, I love
it, especially johnny's
especially johnny's because, like he has the lines in his, in
his like uh silhouette like inthe comics looks fucking amazing
.
Which brings me to fortnite.
As soon as that becameavailable for the skins, I
bought all four of them it Ilove playing that so much three
(58:21):
thousand d bucks later, dude I,uh.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
I was out last
weekend.
I traveled as we talked aboutabout.
Got home, cyborg was in theshop.
I was like hell yeah they can'tget any better than this.
And then I got home from themovie and I saw that and I was
like what?
So I bought the thing, justcause.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
I had to choose.
I went with the thing I thinkthe Human Torch, probably my
favorite to play, cause you canturn on and off his flames.
Which to play?
Because you can turn on and offhis flames, which is sick,
alright, you can mention mebetween the skins, these popcorn
buckets.
I spent over 100 bucks on merchalone and I didn't buy any
shirts.
Yet there's some stuff I dowant to buy.
Still, what would you give us?
Speaker 2 (59:06):
1 out of 10 um, so
originally I'm gonna I'm gonna
increase my score because justI've sat with it and I like it.
I think I'm gonna give it asolid eight out of ten you know
what?
Speaker 1 (59:19):
I was gonna raise
mine too, because I wasn't gonna
be 7.5, and then I raised it 10after talking about it with you
.
Yeah, um, we don't have a wholelot of time left.
Let's squeeze in a quick reviewfor the happy gilmore two on
netflix streaming right now.
Um, big fan of the first one.
It's probably my top three ofhis Adam Sandler's movies.
I just watched it a couple daysago to prepare for it.
(59:39):
I've seen it with my boy, glennthis.
I'm not a big fan of moviesthat come out with sequels like
10 plus years later, but thisone was a close fit.
This one was the closest tomake me did.
It was as close as to make melove it as much as I could.
What was your initial reactionto it?
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
yeah, I dude, I
enjoyed it and it.
And it feels so shady becausethere are movies that were out
on nitpick and I'll like be like, ah, this plot point, like you
know, like really get into it.
I didn't care, man, I wascracking up, obviously.
I watched it with Dave and allour friends who were coming to
visit this morning.
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
And we had a blast
watching it.
So, I mean, this whole movie isnothing but cameos, which is
cool, which is cool.
I loved it.
This is a spoiler for thismovie as well.
I was shocked as hell when theykilled off the wife within the
first three minutes.
(01:00:40):
That was crazy.
Yeah, because she's in thepress, she's touring with them
and everything is like totallygot me fooled.
Um, and he has kids in thismovie, which I was kind of
worried.
That kind of softens thecharacter a lot usually, uh, and
changes it differently.
I wish almost that they filmedit the exact same way as happy
gilmore, like the editing styleand stuff like that, how it's
more full body shots versusclose-ups and all that.
Um, I wish they explored doingthat a little bit more.
But times have changed with thecamera work and stuff.
(01:01:02):
Um, I didn't buy happy adamslyer's happy gilmore for most
of this movie.
It to me it felt like grown-ups, it felt like a lot is of it
almost like felt like himself inreal life too at some points.
It wasn't until he was onscreen with shooter mcgaver
where, like this is happygilmore.
Now we're back like it's thatscene in the cemetery alone with
(01:01:23):
him fighting, like thatdefinitely felt like happy
gilmore.
You know he's that took meright to it from there on the
rest of the movie.
Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
He definitely um, it
was great for me yeah, I think
that was like oddly enough and Idon't want to say because they
were going like the seriousroute I guess you can call it
with like the death of his wifeand the drinking and stuff.
I I was having fun but I wasjust like all right, like he was
getting back into it.
It was like right, maybe likethe last half hour of the movie
where it found it found itselflike I think that's where the
(01:01:53):
goofiness and like all theeverything kind of worked for me
and that's.
You know, they landed the plane.
Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
So I mean, I
mentioned those cameos, a lot of
cameos.
It's also also a lot of hisboys just coming back from his
you know previous, with theexception, I think Kevin James
is the only one I didn't notice.
Do you see?
He's coming out with that newfucking uh movie where he's like
a badass.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Uh, kind of like
nobody kind of movie kevin james
I thought that was a parody.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
No, I'm pretty sure
yeah, okay, so anyways, uh,
that's probably where he was atin this movie.
Um, with the exception, hebrought in a lot of new actors,
mostly from snl, like a bigcelebrity names like Travis
Kelsey that SNL trio.
That was the most jarring forme and also every single golfer
(01:02:42):
and announcer you see in thismovie are real golfers and real
announcers what's the one whogot arrested in Kentucky's name?
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
I already forgot it.
I know who you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
Yeah, he's funny in
the movie.
I was like what's the one whogot arrested in kentucky's name?
I already forgot it I know he'stalking about.
Yeah, he, he's funny in themovie.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
Yeah, I was like that
was the one.
It just led the mostcredibility to me.
I was like, oh, what the hell.
And he's like in the movie.
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
I was like also the
guy who plays his old caddy.
He's a real golfer too.
I can't remember his name, butzach something.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah youknow all these kids in this
movie.
They're so funny and he alsohas a golf legend there, like
the one he's sitting at theround table with.
What I like most about thismovie too like you do see gaps
between 96 and now, like someupdates and like that, but what
(01:03:27):
I like most about it he's happyGilmore did come to appreciate
the golf, the game of golf, because, like he mentioned, like
yeah, those guys are my friends, like talking about old, old
school golfers, I was like thatwas cool to see him really come
accept this character as agolfer even like the scene when
they're all like sitting withtheir, uh, golden jackets.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
I was like that's
kind of dope, like I did, I did
like that.
But, um, you know the the plotof and I got it like the little
douchey guy him saying like youbuilt this, you know, like we're
just following your rebellion, like that makes sense Like like
you would obviously assume thathe would be aligned with this,
but the line of like my, my wifeliked golf just the way it was
(01:04:08):
and she was right abouteverything.
Like I was like yeah, no, thatmakes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Like they did a
really good job with the
character motivation my favoritefavorite, one of my favorite
jokes in the movie is like whenhe hits a good hit and the
audience is cheering like hey, come hit this beer bong.
It's like, uh, you're hitting abeer, hit this beer.
Uh, chug, he's.
No, I don't drink beer, no more.
But then someone offers himcoffee in a cup of the box of
joe donuts bro.
Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
I was like I, that's
what I mean, and the guy like
all the bits worked for me forthe most part him drinking out
of like every random object wasso funny to me.
Speaker 1 (01:04:43):
Yeah, I was cracking
up that scene.
I was cracking up with a scenewith um, he couldn't get his car
started, so he starts beatingthe shit out of his car and then
all of his kids start beatingit up.
You man, I, I like I said Ididn't think I was going to like
the kids at all.
I was like they're going to be,they're going to nerf him.
But they were all funny in thismovie.
They're just a bunch of idiots.
And his daughter replaces realdaughter.
(01:05:09):
Her character is cool.
She was like the whole reasonof the movie, like she was the
reason she got back into thegolf, which is cool.
Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
Um, the villain, his
wife was in here as well yeah,
who plays the ballet coach.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
His other daughter
was a girl from the aa meetings.
Um, there's a bunch like uh, Ithink travis kelsey's dad also
makes an appearance in thismovie too, as one of the guys in
the gold jackets rav.
Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
Travis Kelsey is my
standout cameo.
I don't know why everything hewas doing in this movie was
correct, like Danny was killingme with the when the guy kept
saying that.
Like that's what she said andno one was laughing at Travis,
you're killing it, man, likewhat I.
It worked.
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
I thought he was
going to be more in the movie
than what he was, but he wasgood in it.
I was way shocked to see BadBunny as much as we did in this
movie.
I was like Bad.
Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
Bunny is collected,
he's going to be like Snoop Dogg
level of like lore.
Like this man is from WWE, it'slike popping off in this.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Like all right man,
go for it.
He was also supposed to be in asony spider-man villain movie
too.
A lot of people oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Yeah, he was supposed
to be um.
Why am I blanking on?
Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
it yeah thankfully
that got canceled I mean I would
like to see him in that.
I mean I don't like to see sonydo that, but I like that role.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
They're, they're
villain universes.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
So bad bunny was
hilarious in the movie and then
when you think about it, likeit's almost a cheat code to get
big, big names like that, likehim and Travis Kelsey and some
of these other stars, like thereason it's funny is because you
don't see Bad Bunny doing thatstuff.
You don't see Bad Bunnychugging beer like that.
Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
That's what makes it
funny exactly same thing, like
to kind of tone down like TravisKelsey and make him like the
waiter, but then, like thetouchdown celebration had me
dying, like I, I like it.
The one that really got me outlike I don't, I don't know where
is Margaret.
Margaret Qualley was likeplaying golf and I was like
that's Oscar nominee, like fromthe song Margaret Qualley, what
(01:07:07):
the hell is she doing?
She's being goofy, and that'sthe thing too.
I was like setting up one of mybuddies is like adam sandler
has like another movie withnetflix.
It's like, yeah, man, this isbest.
John and lauren, he gets tocreate these movies.
They pay him millions ofdollars and he gets to do them
with his friends in a way thatis still entertaining.
And like watching all of theselike they're just probably
(01:07:29):
people that he owed favorites toor wanted to be part of it.
It worked man.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
So after watching the
first one I was like I'll be
okay, this is the only happy, good mark.
I've just seen this one.
I was glad I got it.
Now, after watching it, I kindof want more that kind of really
that kind of makes me mad thatI want more.
You know, I wish the villain wasa little bit different.
I don't like the villain hasbeen like a totally different
(01:07:53):
league of like competing againstthe golf association or
whatever they're called.
Um, I kind of wish it was justa younger kid who was like tired
of these older guys comingaround, which he kind of was.
But, um, to come up with awhole different style of golf
was this is kind of wild to me I, as you may or may not know
this, I am a mini golfaficionado.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Okay, I got a crazy
mini golf game um, especially
because you know I work in thearcade industry.
Um so I ate up all of that, likethere's a lot of moments like,
oh, that's, that's really fun,that's really interesting.
The only thing that, like Ireally couldn't, really couldn't
vibe with was the idea thatthey would ever accept this on
their turf, because the problemis they were like all right if
(01:08:38):
we win, like this event is dead.
However, win or lose, becauseyou just made it legitimate by
adding like all these people,I'm the viewership for this just
got.
Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
No, I want to go
check out where it was exploding
, like that's's what I want tosee, yeah, yeah, and it's a one,
one from the.
Either way, I wish it was justlike a young, like a traditional
golf, like a young golferstalking shit, like one of the
real golfers.
And then I mean it was coolseeing him on screen again with
shooting McGavin.
I don't like how they did hischaracter, making him clinically
(01:09:11):
insane in the movie.
I was like I, I don't buy that.
To me that was more like qbhalloween kind of humor that
they did that to him.
Um, it would have been coollike he was like more than
respected one, like he wouldlike kind of like his
relationship with like, um, uh,maverick and goose kind of thing
you know not maverick and goose, maverick and ice man, you know
kind of thing like they hateeach other but he is still like
(01:09:33):
at the top of his game, likeeven if they would have had
shooter but they couldn't.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Just the way that he
went out on the first one.
They put themselves in a boxthere, you know they couldn't
then flash forward to.
Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
He's like running the
the league now they could have,
they could have, they couldhave.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
It's been 30 years,
brandon, like there's, he could
have had a tackle for stealinghis, his coat, brody, and then
mob beat him up that way.
He would never live that down.
Yeah, you can't live downgetting beat up by a mob for
acting like a crazy person butit was cool to see him team up
at the end.
Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
Yeah, no it felt real
.
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
And then when he hits
that shot, like I'm rooting for
him, like I had a genuine likesmile on my face when that
happened.
Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Well, like when he
put his hand into the trigger, I
was like oh, like, let's go,dude chubbs's sons in this movie
who's played by a real lifecomedian I can't remember his
name, but he's.
I like his work.
I've seen his handstands before.
Um, totally obviously I wasjust holding a fake hand in the
sleeve like his arms, like waylonger.
I thought at the end for sureit was going to be a joke.
(01:10:36):
Like he has his hand the wholetime, he's just like holding
that hand.
That would have been a funnyjoke.
Also, it's something I predictedthat didn't happen when I was
watching with my friend Glenn inthe beginning, where Happy
Gilmore is trying to get intohis happy place and he talks to
his dead wife and she gets cutoff when she's like happy,
you're not a?
Um, a hockey player, you're agolfer.
(01:10:56):
But it cuts out after guh and Itold him I bet you he's gonna
have that conversation laterwith him, but it's gonna say
like good father instead ofgolfer or something yeah, I
thought that they were gonnacircle back to that, um, but
yeah, that's fine that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
That would have been
hilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
I would have ate that
up this movie had a lot of
things that shouldn't work onpaper, but it does work.
It is so funny.
It was a lot of fun.
That's what this movie wasabout.
That's what the first one wasabout.
It was ridiculous, it was goofy, they relied heavily on cameos,
but it somehow worked.
The nostalgia was there.
Eminem was in this movie too.
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
It had a prolonged
scene.
They definitely hammed it upwith him too, but, like similar
to you, I could.
I could not explain in alogical way why this movie works
, but it does, and I'm glad itdoes in 2025, just as much as it
did in 1996 yeah, I mean Ican't wait to go see it again.
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
Would you think this
movie would be as receptive as
it came on theaters?
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
no man, no, no,
because I think that's like the
thing, like I said.
Uh, similarly about like headsof state, it's something about
watching it in my house thatlowers the stakes if I'm paying
15 bones for it.
I think I would have had alittle bit of a different
mindset.
And there's like no like forthe comedy, for sure, but it's
(01:12:13):
not like it was shot to be inmovies, like it was just like a.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
It's just a good,
it's just a fun movie I I think
I was talking to a co-workerabout this movie, um, during the
week and I was like, yeah, happy, good, more two is coming
out, and like, yeah, maybe I'llcheck it out.
I was like, but it's not comingout in theaters, you stream it
home, like, oh, then, yeah, I'lldefinitely check it out so
exactly.
They definitely got a lot ofviewerships.
Adam Sandler is I don't know.
(01:12:37):
I think Netflix got him in achokehold or something like that
.
He's only doing movies forNetflix now.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Well, they got him in
a.
I think he's found like a $200million six movie.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
Deal with them which
has to be number six, right Like
he had huge Halloween he had,he could have quietly renewed
like man, man, we making money, let's do it.
On top of that, he's stilltouring too.
Um, he loves bad bunny in thismovie.
He's very friendly with theinterview, so I'm hoping we see
a lot of more bad bunny in hismovies.
Um, someone told me that theythink bad bunny might just
retire from you.
Not nothing about retire, butlike slow down the music.
(01:13:07):
A lot to do acting, but theytalked about like he was working
on the album during this movie.
So like, like he's not going toslow down music anytime soon.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
No, he just looks
like a man with a lot of
passions.
Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
Yeah, he's doing that
huge Puerto Rico tour now, so I
mean he's got a lot on hisplate, which is good for him.
I liked him.
He was funny.
It was my favorite parts ofthis movie.
Um, a lot of funny by seeingall the names in this movie.
Like I said, every golfer andevery announcer in this movie
was a real person and I thinkthat's fun for them too, because
(01:13:39):
they got families, they gotfriends.
To see them in a Happy Gilmoremovie too, that'd be sick.
I'm going to see my boy inthere.
Yeah, what would you give this?
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
movie one out of ten.
See, it's hard to rate this one.
I can't say I'll give it aseven, man I was thinking the
same thing guy, I can't give itany higher after I just talked
about fantastic four a differenttype of movie but yeah, a solid
, solid seven works for me yeah, yeah, was it worth the 30 year
wait?
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
did we need this?
No, um, am I happy we got it?
Hell yeah, um, I'm definitelygonna go watch it again tonight,
probably.
Yeah, probably with my mom shehasn.
Hell yeah, I'm definitely goingto go watch it again tonight,
probably.
Yeah, probably with my mom.
She hasn't seen this yet.
I'm definitely recommendingthis movie to everybody.
I see now Big nostalgia for BenStiller.
If they could remake anothermovie of his that they haven't
done yet which would you want tosee?
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
Oh, great question.
Just because I love the firstone so much, I can do another
Grown Ups.
Oh, you would have a thirdGrown Ups.
I'd do a third Grown Upsbecause I would like to see all
the new comedians and I thinkthere's something that could
work there.
Speaker 1 (01:14:43):
I think that is
really in the works, if I'm not
mistaken.
I don't know if it's rumors orwhat I would love that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
That would be.
Yeah, I could have fun withthat.
What about you?
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
I mean there's so
many like Bobby Boucher and
water boy.
I don't know why I said clickClick isn't one of them.
Nevermind Good movie, though.
I think there was talks ofdon't mess with the Zohan, too,
coming out too.
Really, I don't know whathappened to that Andy Samberg,
get them.
Really I don't know whathappened to that one.
Andy Samberg, get him in here, andy Samberg, don't mess with
(01:15:19):
Zohan Daddy's Boy.
No, you know what?
My hands down all-time favorite, adam Sandler movie is the.
Wedding Singer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
Okay, that's a good
one.
Speaker 1 (01:15:27):
That'll be
interesting to see, that I can
see them just do and just gowith it too.
Blended Maybe, another Blendedmovie, oh, blended to, I don't
know.
Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
Blended maybe another
blended movie.
Oh, blended, blended for sure,uh, but anything with jennifer
anderson, throw it back in here.
Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
I'm good to go, yeah,
uh do you see jennifer
anderson's coming out with the?
Uh, I believe it's a tv showbased off the jeanette mccurdy's
book um yeah, my mom's the momright yeah, yeah, I wonder if
jean's going to play thedaughter.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
That's got to be like
super traumatizing.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
I have the book.
I've not read it though.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Like imagine, dude,
yeah, man Cause, like obviously
there's going to be like somemonologues, or like when her mom
was like going off on her andit's like all right, take 37 of
the worst day of your life, likethat would be pretty pretty.
I don't know why she wouldsprint to do that, but whatever
probably getting paid big bucks.
Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
All she'll probably
do is sold right now.
Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Pronounce you chuck
and larry.
That's what I want to see.
Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
Another dude okay, a
lot of people joke because it is
a silly movie in the movie, butit also has such a great acting
scene that I love and Ireference a lot.
It's the scene where, um,they're firefighters in the
movie.
They're rescuing somebody who'strying to break in through like
a chimney or something likethat, and the guy's laser
sticking out.
They have a fantastic argument.
That was so believable and itwas so great for actors in such
(01:16:44):
a way and for them to add somehumor at the very end of it
Fantastic.
I loved it it.
I don't think that scene getsenough credit as it deserves.
Hell yeah, next week.
What else is coming out for themonth of July?
I can't remember off the top ofmy head.
Eddington is still on my list.
(01:17:05):
Together is still on my list.
There's a movie coming out forsure next week that I wanted to
see, but we haven't talked aboutit.
We might have a guest on nextweek.
We'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
How many more times
are you gonna see fantastic four
?
At least one more.
I mean, dan are gonna go see itlater tonight.
Um, probably one.
Yeah, I think I might actuallyhave two if my movie buddy comes
back in town, uh, on tuesday.
Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
So I'll probably go
see that again, nice, yeah, I'm
gonna go see it at least onemore time, like so, there is a
movie coming out that I cannotthink of on top of my head, but,
um, we'll figure it out.
Uh, I've been posting a lotmore on the tiktok, like I said,
so keep an eye out for thetiktoks.
We do post clips of theepisodes.
Um, brandon, you can close thisout with a movie recommendation
(01:17:51):
I think we already gave one.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Go, go watch happy g,
gilmore 2.
And if you haven't seen thefirst one, perfect double
feature.
It's only going to take aboutfour hours.
Throw it out in the backgroundand then pay attention to the
second one.
That's going to be a greatnight for you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
And I would watch it
soon, because I think I just saw
that Happy Gilmore the firstone is leaving Netflix soon.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
It got that sticker
on there now oh, yeah, yeah,
that's your call to action.
Go sprint and do it all right, thanks for listening.
Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
Stay tuned, we're
next week.
We'll be saving Bye.
