He's taken around your host, rob miranda.
I'm excited to talk about thisdisney channel classic, disney
clint.
It was a disney channel disneyclassic before 2025 came out,
but I'm excited to talk aboutthis movie that it's been on my
list for a minute.
I did try hard to find a disneyclassic before 2025 came out,
(00:28):
but I'm excited to talk aboutthis movie that it's been on my
list for a minute.
I did try hard to find a disneyadult for this episode.
I don't.
We'll find out she's a disneyadult, but this is the first
time on the podcast.
I've been following her for alittle while.
She's also a movie reviewer.
You can follow her on instagram.
Um, miss tori came on thepodcast.
Thank you for so much forcoming on the podcast, tori.
Thank you so much for having meI'm excited to have you in the
podcast.
We've been talking about thisfor a little while now.
Like I said you, you follow me,follow my instagram page and I
(00:51):
followed you back, and you'realso a movie reviewer.
Um, yeah, and I also checkedout your letterboxd too.
I want to talk about that alittle bit, because I love your
list.
Honestly, it's pretty 80s and90s, I would say that's pretty
incredible.
Okay, yeah, now for those ofyou listening, we're like I'm
going to post a clip of this too.
But, um, I gotta talk aboutyour background.
(01:12):
Right now, you're sitting infront of a giant wall with
nothing but dvds.
That's incredible.
What do you have an idea ofwhat?
How much is there behind you?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
at least a thousand
at least a thousand maybe more.
It's a mix of tv movies, vhs,steelbook.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I kind of collect a
little bit of everything that is
incredible I did at one pointwhen I started the podcast I did
want to start my physicalmedium like I had a bunch of
dvds in my um, my car on amazon, mostly because, like I wanted,
I wanted to collect movies thatI reviewed on the podcast.
Dvds are still expensive for noreason.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
They are yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I remember I had
Babylon in my car forever and it
just never went down in price.
I was like I'm not going tospend $22 on this DVD.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, I keep seeing
it in the clearance at walmart
for the steelbook for 24.
I'm like, okay, it's inclearance.
Now it should go down a littlecheaper, but still not now?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
do you have those
just for show?
Do you actually watch the dvds?
Speaker 1 (02:16):
I watch them I watch
yeah, because sometimes there's
certain movies I haven't seen ina while and they're not on
streaming, so sometimes I'lljust pop in a random movie here
and there, but then I alsosubscribe to all the streaming
services.
So then just too many options.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
All right, I want to
play a game with this a little
bit.
I'm going to have you pick, just randomly pick out one in
the back of you and just see.
I wanted to see if I've everseen it before.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
All right, let's see
Do blind.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
All right, let's say
um, do blind don't, don't even
look at it, just blind it justblind, blind, blind, blind.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
All right, there we
go.
Let's see, it's an old onebounce.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I've never even heard
of that.
Honestly, is that ben affleck?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
yeah, and gwyneth
paltrow.
I believe this is when theywere dating, I believe.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
You just blew my mind
there.
I didn't even know they dated,honestly.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
I believe so.
But yeah, this was, and it waslike a two DVD collector set
that it came out with.
Nice, nice it was the bestromance of the year, supposedly
according to cisco all right, give me one more, give me one
more one more, one more um.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Let's see another
classic good fellas good fellas,
I you're gonna blow, I'm gonnablow your mind.
I've seen that on your list too.
That's what made me think of it.
Um, but I'm gonna blow yourmind like I've.
Only, I don't think I've seenthe full thing all the way
through.
I know I've seen bits and partsof it, but I've never seen the
whole movie all the way through.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
This one's a great
one, but I'll have to say my
favorite Mafia one has to be ABronx Tale.
That one's my favorite.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I 100% agree with
that.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
I've seen.
A Bronx Tale tale is one of mydad's favorite movies that he
showed it to me when I was ayoung kid and it has a lot of
good lessons in there.
Honestly, yeah, I saw, when itcame to boston, the bronze tale,
the musical I had to go seethat, which was amazing.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
That was pretty cool.
The only movie that I've seenplay version it actually was a
play first and then became amovie was jersey boys.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
That I loved I still
haven't seen that movie.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I do love the music
yeah, I'm a big musical guy like
.
I love musicals, and jersey boyis probably my in my top 10
musicals of all time.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, I just added
the snow white soundtrack.
I have a whole soundtrackplaylist on my apple music
because usually any movie if ithas a good score, a soundtrack,
I'm always listening to it I, Ithink the year of 2022, my most
listened to music was um.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
What's the andrew
garfield movie on netflix?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
oh, um, the one about
the guy who created rent yes,
tick, tick, boom.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
That was my most
listened to music and, although
2022, I was obsessed with thatsoundtrack.
I I loved it.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
I still haven't seen
that movie.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I need to watch that
oh my goodness, yeah, it's one
of my favorite.
Actually, I think it was myfavorite Andrew Garfield movie,
thinking about it, the GreatestShowman, for oddly enough, I
used to work out to thatsoundtrack.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
I have that
soundtrack on repeat.
I just have the wickedsoundtrack on repeat um the tv
show daisy jones and the six.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
I had that soundtrack
on repeat just musicals yeah, I
listen to wonka quite a bit, alittle bit when I first came out
that's a good one too yeah, um,I haven't done this in a while,
but I wanted to talk about howsome hollywood updates that I
found interesting.
It's going to give me a littlebit of a taste of what kind of
movies you're into, because it'sa little bit of variety of all
kind of movie genres.
Uh.
(05:47):
So let's take a look into thehollywood updates.
I want to mispronounce his namefirst.
Linda cartellini cast as jasonmobb on friday, the 13th prequel
show.
The show will be a titledcrystal lake made by a24, which
is what I'm most excited about, and will be released on peacock.
Peacock rumored to startreleasing October of this year.
If they're just getting tocasting now, I kind of doubt
(06:11):
we'll get a release in Octoberof this.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I know it would be
nice to have that at Halloween.
Usually the whole month ofOctober I do 31 days of scary
movies, so I try to watch thisdifferent scary movie every day,
or a tv show, so I'm hoping.
I'm a huge fan of linda carliniso, and of the whole friday the
13th franchise, so I'll behappy to see that I think I read
(06:33):
that one had the mostadaptations of the franchise out
of all of them.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Like all these horror
movies, this front of the one
point.
He was up in space, yeah yeah,I know it's a slasher movie for
sure.
Like I mean, I never really gotinto him, or uh, freddy cougar,
halloween was pretty dope.
I enjoyed watching those movies.
I think halloween is alsogetting its own show at one
point.
I would love to see a monsteruniverse, something like, where
(06:59):
they that would be really fun uh, but a24.
I'm excited a24 is going to beattached to it.
So I saw um a post.
I don't know if you know likeknow about studios too much, but
like neon.
Someone commented I thinkneon's becoming the new a24.
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
that's what I heard
as well, and I kind of like that
, because they both put outdifferent types of movies, but I
enjoy all the movies bothstudios have put out now this is
my hot take on a24.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
I think it's becoming
a little bit mange to
mainstream now, now that it'sgot a lot of hype behind it I
think so too.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
I noticed now at
walmart, because that's really
the only place that sells moviesaround me anymore.
A24 now now has their own DVDsthat they're just distributing
themselves instead of goingthrough another distributor, but
the artwork and everything onthem looks great.
I'm looking forward to buyingBaby Girl when that comes out.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
I love that was on my
list to go see.
I haven't seen that movie,though I heard that was a great
reviews about that.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
But I like to see all
the behind-the-scenes features
and everything on the DVDs.
So that's why I have a lot ofmovies.
I like seeing all thebehind-the-scenes work on them
as well.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
That is incredible.
Like that is something I domiss.
I don't even have a DVD player.
Thinking about it, honestly.
I have a PlayStation 4 that Iprobably play it among if I
really want, really wanted to.
Uh, the next one.
I love biopics and I wasexcited to hear about this movie
.
Uh, barry jenkins to directzendaya in the ronnie specter
biopic b it's called be my babyfor a24 another a24 movie.
(08:34):
Yeah, barry jenkins is knownfor directing movies like mufasa
and moonlight.
The movie would be about thelead singer of the 1960s girl
group known as the ronettes.
The movie.
It was an early development andits release date has not been
announced yet.
All I need to hear was Zendayaand I'm in.
Honestly.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
I love her and
everything she's in.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
She was great in
Spider-Man, she was great in
Dune.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Her show Euphoria
Challenger she was incredible in
.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
I'm surprised I'm
actually upset that hasn't been
talked about any Oscars oranything like that set that
hasn't been talked about anyoscars or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
I was.
I was shocked even for thescore for that.
I was shocked that it wasn'tnominated.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Do you think if that
movie got released this is my
big topic from the last episodedo you think that movie got
released, say in july or evenseptember, it would have had a
better chance?
Speaker 1 (09:19):
I feel like that if
certain movies come out earlier,
like right after award season,I think it's tougher for them
once because people forget aboutit.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
So I feel like if it
did a little bit before it would
have had, and I think thatreally really got duped because
like it was supposed to come outlike the following previous
november, and that one gotpushed back because of the whole
strike and everything thathappened, which sucks because it
could have got nominatedsomething.
I feel the same way aboutmickey 17.
I've been praising about thismovie.
I think it deserves some kindof at least nomination.
(09:50):
I'm not saying they deserve towin, but I'm recognizing.
But, like you said, by the timejanuary comes around, no one's
gonna be talking about mickey 17exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
I still need to see
that on my list.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Oh my god, it's
incredible's incredible.
I might go back to the theatersand see it again.
The thing about the Oscars andall these award shows and stuff
like that even before it comesout, I've seen someone post
their predictions for next yearalready and the movies haven't
even came out.
Like that's how predictablethese award shows are.
It's like you're just going tobe looking at the director,
(10:26):
you're going to be looking atthe actors and already make up
the studio.
Yeah, exactly, I haven't talkedabout really too much about
oscars specifically, but anorawas a big winner this week this
year's oscars.
Um, how do you feel about that?
Do you think it deserved allthe wins?
Speaker 1 (10:35):
so I absolutely loved
it.
I saw that and then the day ofthe oscars, I was able to
finalist, finally see I'm stillhere and that movie was just
unbelievable and I thought thatshould.
I was happy it got best foreignfilm, um, but it was nice to
seeing an independent film, kindof sweep at the oscars um that
(10:59):
was good but I was.
I was also shocked too, becauseI don't know if you saw the
movie mar with Angelina Jolie.
She was phenomenal in that andshe did all her own opera
singing and the fact that shedidn't get nominated for that I
was kind of shocked.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
I'm very kind of
shocked that Demi Moore got
nominated for as much as she did, not to say she did a bad job.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
I was talking to
somebody about this.
Yeah, I was also surprisedabout that I was.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I was talking to
somebody else like anybody else
in that role, like jenniferaniston or sandra bull, like
they would have done the exactsame job.
She didn't really bring toomuch to the table.
But um, so I mean I was kind ofshocked she was picked over
versus more smart or othermovies like that.
Um, I wish I knew all for thefirst time.
Actually, after all thenominations a little bit ago, I
(11:47):
watched it and I was like thisis the movie that won all the
awards, really.
Yeah, a little shocked as well, honestly, I was surprised how
much sex was in that movie.
I didn't know.
It was mostly that.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
I had a random old
man sitting next to me during
the whole opening scene.
I was like, okay, this isawkward.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I'll tell you about
my awkward encounter when I'm
watching Snow White in a littlebit, when we get to it.
But the next update ChristopherMasterson and Justin Burtfield
to return in Malcolm in theMiddle Revival, leaving the
youngest brother, dewey, to berecasted by Ellsworth Clark
after Eric Percival oh geez, I'mso bad at names has retired
from acting.
Were you big Malcolm in theMiddle fan?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Not really.
I would.
Always when it was randomly onflipping channels, I would stop
on it because Brian Cranston'shysterical and.
I liked Frank Nunes too when Iwas younger, so just watching
that, and then I forget theactress who played the mother.
She was hysterical so I knewabout it.
Um, but I will be happy to seethat kind of.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
I know they're
rebooting everything, bringing
everything back, all kinds ofshows, so I'm kind of yeah, I
heard an interview with frankjunez talking about like he's
excited, you know, the almosteverybody's coming back.
The only one's not coming back,it's a little brother.
But, um, you know, they'reintroducing some new characters.
I mean, I love the idea of notrebooting but revisiting.
It's only gonna be like a fouror five parts episode series and
(13:13):
I think that's perfect to givelike we weren't expecting.
It's really, you know, justsomething they wanted to do for
fun.
I won't or it.
You know, um, I like when showsdo that.
I wasn't a huge big fan of theactual Michael in the Middle,
but Roseanne did the same thingwith the Conners.
And then I'm trying to think ofsomething else recently that
was, you know, spinoff of how IMet.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Your.
Father yeah, gilmore Girls didit on Netflix, which.
I wish they did more becausethey ended it on a cliffhanger
so I was kind of hoping theywould do more episodes.
But I know, yeah, Fuller House, all those ones.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
It might trip, and I
think I've seen something about
Breaking Bad too.
If I'm not mistaken, I could bemaking that up.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Oh, I wonder.
I never saw Breaking Bad.
That's one show I have on mylist I have to watch.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
I am horrible when it
comes to shows.
It's more of a commitment thingbecause like, but once the shot
show has a bunch of hype builtaround it, there's usually five
or six seasons already behind it.
I was like I I don't want tosit through all this and like on
top of that, most of the goodshows are an hour plus long.
It's too much for me.
I can't.
Like.
I'm more of a movie guy.
Like I'm in and out within twohours.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
This other big news
Amy Paschal and David Heyman
closed deals to produce the nextJames Bond films.
A lot of controversy is goingon.
People say they shouldn't beremade.
People are already fan casting.
Who should be the next JamesBond?
There's a lot of rumors.
I don't know if it's going tobe even theatrical release or a
prime show or prime original.
What are your thoughts aboutJames Bond?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I'm a huge James Bond
fan.
I loved, obviously, theoriginal Sean Connery, I liked
Pierce Brosnan and I lovedDaniel Craig.
I don't know.
I know a lot of people wantcertain actors who they think
(15:13):
should be certain British actors, which there's so many, I think
, options out there.
I know at one point there wastalk of a female 007, which that
would be cool too, but I feellike if it just ended, kind of
leave it.
If you're going to do a spinoff, maybe do a different character
from the movies.
(15:35):
Don't try to reboot it, justleave it as it is.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Yeah, I hate when
they keep changing stuff.
I'm all for spy movies LikeKingsman.
Kingsman was an incredibleseries.
I'm all for changing stuff.
I'm all for spy movies likelike kingsman.
Kingsman's were was incredibleseries.
Actually, I think they justannounced that they're coming
out with another kingsman movietoo, which I'm very excited for
right, I would love that and theblack bag.
That was a great spy I just lovea good film yeah, the black bag
(16:00):
it's giving mr and mrs smith, Ihaven't seen it yet I'm gonna
go see it pretty soon.
It kind of was mr and mrs smithish yeah speaking of mr and mrs
smith, that's another primeshow that, um, I started
watching but it's hard for me tokeep up with.
But that's a very popular show.
I think a couple emmys, if I'mnot mistaken, and uh, picked up
for season two yeah all right.
So like I got one more uhhollywood updates before getting
(16:22):
into the snow white review, andit's probably the biggest one
I've announced on.
I already talked about in along time on this podcast, but
the new avengers lineup wasreleased, partially released.
Um, were you one of thosestreamers that stayed the full
five hours for this fullannouncement?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
unfortunately no,
because I was at work.
But when I finally saw thewhole list I was just I can't
wait the X-Men people comingback.
The only one I'm kind of bummedwhich people are speculating
maybe she's lying is ElizabethOlsen that she wouldn't be
coming back as Scarlet Witch.
(17:01):
I'm hoping she does back asscarlet witch.
Um, I'm hoping she does, maybetrying to keep it under wraps
like how they did with the umlast spider-man movie when you
go toby mcguire and andrewgoffrill to come back.
So I'm hoping there are somesurprises, but just the cast
alone looks incredible.
Definitely, I'm trying to lookat the full list right now,
(17:21):
actually who was announced?
But um, it's, it's a big castand you surprises, but just the
cast alone looks incredible.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Definitely, I'm
trying to look at the full list
right now, actually, who wasannounced?
But, um, it's, it's a big castand you could definitely tell it
was not everybody listed, because some obvious ones aren't
coming back like that they have.
They didn't say anything abouttom holland, spider-man benedict
coming back, dr strange.
Yeah.
Uh, elizabeth olsen has cameout and said like, yeah, I'm not
going to be part of it.
So is chris evans.
Yeah, but, like you said, we'veseen this in the past and
(17:46):
exactly, if anything, I, I, Ilike that.
A lot of people hate that.
Like, hey, like we've seen youon set though, or something like
that.
You know they're still denyingit.
Um, I got everything here realquick.
Uh, chris hemsworth, vanessakirby, anthony mackie, sebastian
stan.
Latina writes paul rudd whiterussell.
I do not know how to pronouncehis man name, the villain
(18:09):
Anthony Mackie, sebastian Stan, latita Wright, paul.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Rudd White Russell I
do not know how to pronounce his
man name the villain from BlackPanther 2.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Oh, okay, yeah, I
don't know how to read that.
The guy who plays the thing?
Who's playing the thing?
Simo Liu, florence Pugh, kelseyGrammer, lewis Pullman, danny
Ramirez, joseph Quinn, quinn, david arbor, winston duke,
hannah john cayman, tomhiddleston, patrick stewart, you
mckellen, alan cumming, rebeccaromine, uh, james marsden,
channing tatum, pedro pascal androbert downey jr.
(18:35):
It's insane how much theyreleased actually, and, um, I
like so a lot of people arepissed the way they did it,
because, like you got to sitfive hours to really watch this,
like they could have just madea cool video.
They could have just made it.
Um, and there's so much more tobe announced.
I'm pumped, especially when Isee an original x-men coming
(18:55):
back.
For this one probably my mostexcited one is james marsden oh
yes um with daredevil streamingright now.
Do you think we would seedaredevil join the big screen?
Speaker 1 (19:07):
I hope so.
I'm a fan of daredevil um.
I was bummed when they canceledall of those on netflix and
then moved them to disney plus, because I was really hoping to
get more of the jessica jones umiron fist luke page.
I'm good on iron fist, honestly, yeah I was a big jessica jones
(19:28):
fan so I was really hoping wewould get more of that.
I would like them to join, butI really think, dare devil, he
should be a part of itdefinitely like.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I mean, I think, man,
what a journey for charlie
charlie cox's that's the case, you know like from going
carrying the netflix series tolike being teased just a little
bit in spider-man, no way home,um, and then just to end up on
the big screen.
I think that'll probably be oneof the biggest applause that's
seen on screen, I think it wouldbe great as of today I don't
know if you've seen it quite yetbecause it was late, maybe like
(19:57):
two hours ago, like set photosfrom season two were released
with his new suit, his black anddouble d suit suit.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Oh no, I haven't seen
that.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
It looks incredible.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Yeah, I'll have to
check that out.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Marvel is coming out
with a bunch of news lately.
I don't know it's tactical,because Superman's around the
corner too.
So I mean also one thing Ididn't like about this they
announced a lot of the cast fromthe Thunderbolts is going to be
in the movie.
Kind of spoiling it.
Who movie?
Kind of spoiling it.
Who's gonna live then, you know?
Because I really thoughtflorence pew would die yeah,
they should have waited a littlebit.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
And I'm excited too
for the new fantastic four,
because then some of them.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Maybe all of them
will be in it, so I'm talking
about that like even thevillain's gonna be from
thunderbolts is gonna be in theavengers too.
So like, obviously either he'sgonna change sides or he's gonna
I, I don't know, he lives.
I was disappointed about that.
Yeah, I don't know.
Further announcements are goingto come out pretty soon about
that.
All right, now let's get intoSnow White.
(20:53):
But I want to.
Before we talked about SnowWhite, I did want to talk about
all the controversy that wrappedaround this movie.
This movie was hated on fromday one since it was announced.
I think, honestly, the moviewas probably done for about two
years.
I would say yeah before theyeven tried releasing it, because
they're trying a lot of stuff.
A lot of the heat died down andjust never did.
Yeah, it's sad extremely sadbecause only a handful of people
(21:22):
, like less than a handful ofpeople on this earth, can say
they played a Disney princess inreal life and she was robbed of
the experience.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Did you see West side
story with her?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
She was she was great
in that.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
She was also great in
the hunger games thing yeah,
her voice, her singing voice isabsolutely beautiful.
So when I heard she was cast, Iwas like perfect, she already
can sing beautifully, so this Imean, I don't think people were
upset about her performance.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
People were just
upset from the way she looked
like her ethnicity.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Exactly, which isn't
fair, because people were like
that, the same with the LittleMermaid when they did the live
action, for that you can't.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
I would say this was
even more like backlash than the
Little Mermaid.
The Little Mermaid at least had, like it, made money.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
I should say it did,
it did make money, exactly.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
On top of that, they
gave her like the full ride,
like they gave her a premiereand everything.
They didn't even give thesepeople a premiere.
I was so sad for them, likeDisney didn't even roll out the
red carpet for them, like ithonestly looked like we just let
our local movie theater downthe street exactly.
Yeah, it wasn't fair and then, top of that, she wore a backless
dress that people arecriticizing her about because,
like oh, she has hair on herback.
(22:44):
I was like come on, guys, comeon they're seriously complaining
about everything they can findall right, let's back up a
little bit more.
Before they cat, we'll talkabout casting choices.
Obviously, people are upsetbecause different ethnicity and
stuff like that, and then thisis like also around the time of
hungry games was coming out too,if not a little bit before then
.
So I feel like a little bit ofbacklash was taken off.
Once I saw her singing and herperforming in that movie because
(23:05):
I thought she was phenomenal inthe hundred games.
Her voice is incredible.
I was like who is this girl?
I did see the west side story.
That was actually the first umepisode ever on this podcast.
Um, she was incredible in that.
She I I think she's verybeautiful in this.
Uh, she's very beautifuloutside this movie.
I hated her bob in this haircut.
I hated her in this the bob wasvery bad um I felt so bad gal
(23:30):
gadot was casted as the villain.
Let me see what her name is theEvil Queen, that's all she's
labeled as Gal Gadot.
I defended her for years.
I defended her for years andher acting abilities.
A lot of my friends and a lotof people say she sucks at
acting.
I've come to accept it Afterwatching this movie.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
She sucks, she sucks
at acting.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
This was terrible.
She was very beautiful, butlike she's the same person in
every single movie she does likeher voice doesn't change.
Her mannerisms, doesn't changeshe's.
I did like her in the fast andfurious movies playing a
seductive role, but likeeverything else she's in like I
like wonder she was just okay in.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
It's kind of the same
.
She has the looks, she's abeautiful actress and so
everyone.
She's just kind of hired, unfortunately just for her looks
, which tickets sell when she'sin the movie.
But she's beautiful.
I loved Wonder Woman.
I'm a huge Wonder Woman fan.
But seeing on TikTok peoplejust making videos of all her
(24:34):
different movie roles andshowing her acting, and then I'm
watching and I was like, oh, itis kind of all the same.
And watching Snow White, I wasjust kind of like, oh, OK.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
On top of that, she
sings in this movie too, like
one.
It's obviously either AIsinging or it's not her singing,
and you could have hired anactress who could sing honestly,
exactly.
Um, I was thinking about it,sandra bullock could have pulled
that off.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
I think I could have
seen that.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, definitely you
know I'm trying to think of
anyone else that I get off myhead, maybe margot robbie yeah,
or other somewhat broadway starswho are also acting, but
they're just stone or yeah, could see that yeah, but I'll go
though like I think she wascasted because of popularity,
like in 20, whatever 2023,because she like she was, like
(25:28):
she was like in eight moviesthat year or something like that
, yeah, even the small cameos, like she was probably casted
around then because she was ahot actress, yeah, and then she
had controversy too because shewas supporting israel, she's
probably stillsupporting israel and a lot of
people didn't like it for that.
People are boycotting thatbecause of that.
Her um, I don't like to followpolitical and stuff like that.
I don't follow that but, likeyou know, I do know for people
(25:49):
who are upset about her beingcasted in that and being cast on
a lot of things further.
Um, disney didn't feel likethey believed in this movie
either, like they just gave uplike marketing for after a while
.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
I feel like oh yeah,
there wasn't.
Yeah, it wasn't fair, becauseyou're cast as a disney princess
, so you think you're gonna getlike all this recognition, be
everywhere promoting it and alltalk shows and just events, and
she didn't get anything, whichwas sad to the point where she's
(26:23):
having like a mental breakdown.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
She I don't know if
you've seen the video of her on
instagram, like I didn't see thevideo.
Yeah, oh, sam she was liketalking back to the people like
you guys just hate to see me win.
Like I cannot win, I cannotmake anybody happy she was like
talking back to the people likeyou guys just hate to see me win
.
Like I cannot win, I cannot makeanybody happy.
She was like in tears, like shewas being bullied, basically it
.
It was tough to see and, to behonest, like her performance
(26:45):
wasn't that bad.
It wasn't terrible in thismovie.
I thought it was gonna be a lotworse than what it was this
movie was.
I'm not gonna bash and say itwas horrible.
It was very mid, if anything, and it wasn't because of rachel
ziegler either.
Um, a lot of bad writing.
A lot of the actress.
The villain sucked.
Um, but walking out of mytheater I did overhear a kid say
(27:07):
to their parents like oh, thatwas a really great movie.
I was like, at the end of theday, that's what that's about.
That's what this it's a disneychannel kid movie that exactly.
It's geared towards childrenyeah, exactly, exactly, not only
gonna be like this.
This movie is based off a 1938was the 1937 movie.
This is the first disneyprincess movie and like, of
(27:29):
course, it's not gonna fit inthe 2025 timeline time
expectancy.
The way I describe this movieto anybody who watches it or
wants to see it, it's a disneychannel movie budget with disney
channel.
No, it's a disney movie budgetwith disney channel acting in it
(27:49):
.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
I totally agree with
that because I did see it the
day it came out.
But to be honest, I fell asleepat the end of the movie and I
was like, oh no, I need toreview this.
So that began on Tuesday.
So I went and saw it in theIMAX so I knew it would be loud
(28:12):
and it wasn't the reclining seatso I couldn't get too
comfortable.
And then when I watched it Iwas like, wow, I really missed
pretty much the whole movie whenI fell asleep.
And then I rewatched last nightthe original Snow White just to
kind of see some of thedifferences and everything.
The differences and everything.
(28:33):
And I know the interviews inthe past with Rachel Ziegler
talking about how she doesn'tneed her Prince and all this
other stuff.
So when you watch the originalone, it's he hops the wall, the
Prince sinks to her, he's inlove with her right away, never
even spoke.
And then he's searching for her, gives the true loves, kiss,
wakes her up and then they'remarried.
(28:54):
Where I like how in this oneyou get more of a backstory
where they hang out together, more um, because obviously that
doesn't happen, because where'smy prince hopping over the fence
and being like hi, I'm here, let's get married.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
But also the fact,
also the fact that this man is
drawing through the woods andsees a unconscious woman, is
like it's very controversialright there seven little men are
just sitting around exactly, Ididn't even mention.
You have a very appropriatet-shirt and mug today, like I'm
from snow white I have my snowwhite shirt.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
I got, I always get
whenever the movie, specific
movies, I always get the popcornbucket.
I am loaded with lots of allthe marvel popcorn buckets and
cups and a lot of other moviesnice, nice.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Did you see the
popcorn bucket for this movie at
amc?
I don't know if you go to amcor not I do go to amc.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Yes, I did.
I was depending, deciding if Iwanted, if I was like I don't
really need a mine cart itlooked cool.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
For those who don't
know, that's what it was it was
a mine cart with like littlejewels on top and it and it had
like a little shovel like foryou to dig in and dig out.
I thought that was very cool, like if I had a space for it, I
probably would have bought itand then they had them in
different colors.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
So if you wanted to
buy all of them and put them
together, you could.
And then with the cup they hadall different colored cups and
then I don't know if you can see, it had a little pin on top so
you can choose.
So when I went the first daythis is when I got it and they
had, I think, nine differentcups and when I went back
tuesday to the movies, therewere only two of the cups left,
(30:30):
so everyone was grabbing thecups, which was good that stuff
is gonna be on clearance all theend of the next month, like
it's all gonna be there.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
So for me, I think it
might even see theater.
How was your theater experienceso?
Was it busy, was it packed, wasit empty?
Speaker 1 (30:45):
so when I saw it the
day it came out, I saw it in the
dolby theater, um, because Ilove the picture and the sound
in the dolby, and there was adecent amount of kids.
There was one little girl whowas actually dressed up as snow
white, which was absolutelyadorable.
Yeah, um, and I don't know, doyou usually go to amc theaters
or?
Speaker 2 (31:05):
yeah, amc um imagine
for bigger movies yeah, that's
kind of.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Really, the only
theater around me is amc.
Um, there's one showcase, um,but I know, you know the nicole
kidman advertisement alwaysplays.
So after it ended, the littlegirl yells that's not snow white
.
That's not snow white.
The movie hasn't started yet butit was cute because there were
(31:31):
a whole bunch of kids there andthey all loved it.
Um, and then I unfortunatelyfell asleep.
So when I saw it the secondtime, there were still.
There was a few older people,um, for a tuesday afternoon and
a few little kids with theirparents.
And then, um, when I wasleaving this old lady, when I
was in the bathroom, she waslike, did you just see snow
white?
(31:51):
I loved it.
Did you love it?
I was like, yeah, it was reallycute, but you get all different
ages an older woman, um, alittle girl.
When I was little I was snowwhite for halloween and my mom
said I would walk around thehouse singing with an apple
dressed in my costume, becauseit was kind of one of the first
disney princesses and I wasobsessed with her when I was
(32:13):
little that's, that's incrediblestory.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Like I, a lot of
people, like you said, all ages,
because it's like it's made inthe 1930s.
Of course, people are going tocome out of the woodworks to see
this movie and I don't thinkyou necessarily want to go see
it because, like, oh, I reallylove the cast.
I think more just out ofcuriosity, like to try to relive
your child a little bit more.
It's the same reason a lot ofpeople like when they go see a
little mermaid, um, cinderellawas me, like 2015 or something
(32:37):
like that.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
It's oh, I love.
I love that me and my mom wentto see that one.
Same with the beauty and thebeast live action.
I'll, I'll see any of thembecause I just love I grew up
with disney movies.
I love them.
Same with the lion king liveaction.
All those I love them, so I'llgo see them.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Yeah that, and.
Aladdin, yeah I love Aladdin aswell.
Do you think we'll get aPocahontas one?
That one's kind of hard, thatone's kind of hard.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
That would be hard.
I would love that one.
I know they did Mulan.
I think that would be great ifthey did that.
Same with the Princess and thefrog.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
That would be nice if
they did that that was in the
news recently too, because thatwas gonna have a show on amazon
prime and that got canceled nottoo long ago oh, that's a bummer
yeah, either actress who voicedum the princess in that one.
Um, she came out, spoken outvery disappointed and upset she
was and about.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
I can't remember why
exactly they canceled it, but um
yeah, amazon has been cancelinga lot of shows that I like on
there and it's I don't like iton top of that, we're getting
live action like um.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
I don't know why, but
we're getting a lot of action.
Moana, um yeah, especially howthe the second one just did okay
in theaters.
I think I was like you're gonnado the exact same thing as the
first one of the first.
I don't know, I don't know.
It could be wrong, but I'm soover the rock at this point.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
I love the rock.
I am a huge.
I've been a rock fan since hewas wrestling.
I met him at one of our one ofour local malls when he was the
rock and he had his little hair.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
A little fro yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
So I've been a huge
fan of the rocks um.
I think it's soon for a liveaction.
I feel like wait a few years.
You just did the second one.
You don't really need to dolive action everything.
It's just like disney kind of.
I feel like ran out of ideas.
So they're just going back inthe catalog and they're like,
okay, we'll just do live actionwe're also getting live action
leo alone switch pretty soon too.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Um, yeah, I think
they did.
Someone, like some producer did, say that they want to try to
go back to 2d movies, which Iwas like you don't ever see that
anymore in no you don't butthat'd be incredible that we I
remember going like to seeinglike the spongebob movie and
stuff like that in the theatersand you know, even though it was
2d like who gives a fuck, itwas awesome to see, yeah I know
(34:55):
I saw all the original disney'sthe lion king.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
I remember sobbing
when mufasa died in the theater.
Um, but seeing all like the olddisney movies it's.
They're still wonderfully done.
The animation was for the 90s,was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Oh man, the lion king
alone.
Like man, it made me.
I watched lilo and stitch thecartoon the other day and I was
crying they get you someone.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
I cried uh.
When I saw snow white for thesecond time, I got teary-eyed.
Um, when grumpy started crying,so then I lost it, so then I
started crying.
I was like oh, here we go,here's the waterworks um, yeah,
we'll talk about.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
We gotta go back to
snow white.
We've got off track.
We can go down the list becauselike the whole line.
Well, I want to talk aboutcostumes before we get into the
actual thing.
I I just said I hated herhaircut in this movie.
Rachel's like let's haircut.
It is traditional, like it isvery source material to the
original movie.
But you gotta think like ifyou're gonna change the casting,
like the ethnicity, like yougotta realize like it's not
(35:56):
gonna look good on most of them, like it to me that was so
distracting the whole movie, herhair, I couldn't get past it
looked better when it was wet.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
I liked her.
They kept her hair wet.
It looked nicer when it was wet, but it just when it was
curling in I was like, no, youneed to brush that out a little
bit, a little too much uh, galgadot's costuming.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
I mean, she did
change her outfits a few times,
but the head, the cowl lookedpretty cool.
It was a lot going on, thoughthere was a lot of movements in
that in the outfits, and it wasvery distracting because I was
making a lot of noise too yeah,oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
All her jewelry and
everything, all the jewels so
she is actually one.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
I know you mentioned
this already, but like who, I
wish they cast an actor with atheater background because she
was trying to be like verytheatrical with her movements
and stuff like that.
It didn't look natural.
But on top of that, I'm notgoing to blame her 100% because
her costume looked veryrestricting.
She looked uncomfortable a lotof the time.
When she got the cowl with thecape, when it finally came out,
(37:00):
it looked cool from the neck up,but the jewels and everything
like that.
She was trying to move her arms.
I was like you're trying tomake it like she's doing a
Mariah Carey.
You're trying to move a lotwithout actually moving.
Yeah, make it like she's doingthem right, carrie, you're
trying to move a lot withoutactually moving, you know, yeah,
um, another person who Icouldn't stand was the dad in
this movie yeah he was.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah, he was odd.
I was sitting there because Iwas trying to figure out who the
mother was and I was like, ohokay, she was a character in the
netflix show I don't know ifyou saw it warrior nun.
She was one of the Warrior Nuns, so it was the whole time.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
I forgot about that
show.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
I know this mother
from somewhere.
But yeah, the father, he waskind of odd.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Well, close up, close
up shots of his face.
He was a very handsome guy butout of like full body shots he
had hair like a 20 year old butfacial hair like a 45 year old.
Yeah, it took me out of it.
I was like I was so distractedabout it and I was like I'm
supposed to believe you're herdad, you know, come on, dude
(38:04):
yeah, yeah and I was like whenhe died I was like good, because
I couldn't sit through a movie.
Senior ass, yeah, um, that'sfunny.
You mentioned the warrior and Ihaven't seen that movie or the
show and since it came out likeI tried giving it a chance.
I couldn't finish it.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I know her from
somewhere, and so right away I
had to go on imdb and check itand sure enough, she was on
warrior none uh, let's talkabout the main guy in this.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Well, we could talk
about the young snow white
lettuce movie.
She was very cute and veryadorable.
The thing about like youngerchildren they make them sing.
It's obvious they're not seenon set and just like a voiceover
, you know like I don't evenknow if it's the same actress
singing, honestly yeah, sheplayed her pretty cute.
(38:51):
She had longer hair too.
It looked good on her, you know.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
But imagine her
longer hair.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Yeah, yeah, um,
jonathan who played I mean
andrew burnham, who playsjonathan, the movie, the main
lead in this guy I he's the oneI'm referring to when I say
disney channel acting he'sactually he was um on broadway.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
He actually has a
tony award, which I was doing
some research on him, but I waslike, okay, I can see his voice
was really good but you knowwhat?
Speaker 2 (39:25):
the music was pretty
decent, besides um gal gadot
songs, but like the music waspretty decent, like the whistle
while you work it's been nothingbut all over my TikTok, that
song, the duet they had togethertowards the end a little bit,
that's a catchy tune.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Yeah, I liked that
one.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Their chemistry.
I didn't think it was too good.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
They didn't have too
good of a chemistry in that
movie.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Even Rachel and Gal
Gadot didn't even have too much
chemistry in this movie, andI've heard they weren't really
getting along at all.
I wonder why that is.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
A lot of people were
saying because Rachel was
pro-Palestine and because Gal ispro-Israel, so some people were
speculating.
That's probably why theyweren't getting along was
because of that.
Or maybe gal could have beenupset with how Rachel was
(40:22):
talking about the movie andinterviews and stuff and the bad
press it was getting.
She could have been upset withthat.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Yeah, well, we didn't
even talk about the backlash
she got from her interviews too, like she would.
She would came out, like yousaid, like the thing I don't
even know, prince, to come saveme.
Also, like she even came on, solike I've never even seen the
original snow white and thatpissed a lot of people off.
Yeah, um, and recently, withinlike the last week or something
like that, she, she postedsomething like saying fuck trump
, or something like that, anddisney was all over that shit
real quick, like we're not doingthis which is why I think they
(40:52):
pulled the premiere actually soI screenshotted um a thing that
showed up last night I saw.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
So the producer of
the movie, uh, mark platt, his
son, commented did you see that?
I did see that, yeah yeah, thatwas that you can you can read
the whole story so it said.
He commented you really want todo this?
Yeah, my dad, the producer ofenormous piece of disney ip with
(41:21):
hundreds of millions of dollarson the line, had to leave his
family to fly across the countryto reprimand his 20 year old
employee for dragging herpersonal politics into the
middle of promoting the moviefor which she signed a
multi-million dollar contract toget paid and do publicity for
this is called adultresponsibility and
accountability, and her actionsclearly hurt the film's box
(41:45):
office.
Free free speech does not meanyou're allowed to say whatever
you want in your privateemployment without repercussions
.
Tens of thousands of peopleworked on that film and she
hijacked the conversation forher own immature desires, at the
risk of all the colleagues andcrew and blue-collar workers who
depend on that movie to besuccessful.
Narcissism is not something tobe coddled or encouraged, so
(42:11):
yeah, that I mean, I mean it wasvery well written and it was.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
It was not like
insulting in any way.
Well, he kind of gave shots toher, but yeah, so it's a thing
that, yeah, you can't say justanything you want with,
especially when you're in themiddle of a press tour.
It's a pretty big thing, especially working for disney
exactly not everybody can bemark, ruffalo and tweet whatever
(42:38):
you want, especially being sucha young actor.
Yeah, you have a couple of bigblockbusters underneath your
belt, but you've been in thegame for like four or five years
, like we.
Yeah, you can't use this as aplatform, just quite.
Yeah, like if you weren't doingyour personal time, you'd have
like spies that affected hercareer because, like as I read
this morning, like as of rightnow, she doesn't have anything
(42:59):
lined up and anytime soon Inoticed that when I went on her
imdb I looked and it doesn'thave anything for future
projects coming up which is,yeah, she might take a break.
Who knows, she might go back totelevision or try television, or
might go back to theater orsomething like that.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Yeah, because I know
she was recently on Broadway for
Romeo and Juliet.
So I don't know if she'll juststick with Broadway.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
I don't know, but
it's sad, because she is very
talented.
Actually, isn't there anotherHunger Games coming out pretty
soon too?
Isn't she supposed to beappearing?
Speaker 1 (43:34):
in that Possibly.
I Not 100% sure.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
I think it might be
fast forwarding actually a
little bit to what's his name.
He was in the first HungerGames, his character, the
previous winner who helpsJennifer Lawrence.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Oh, yes, yes, yes Is
the actor Sam Kelfin.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
No, which one?
Is he the one who was mistakenfor McC mcconaughey's brother
all the time?
Speaker 1 (43:57):
oh, yes, yes, yes, um
, I know exactly who you're
talking about.
Now, that's gonna bother me.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
So now, obviously, I
know the book is coming out
based around his character, likehis hunger games, and I want to
see they're gonna be making amovie about that one as well too
, which I'm excited to seebecause I like that one I love
the hunger game.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Um what is his name?
Oh, woody harrelson.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
There we go yeah,
woody harrelson, great actor I
love him um, let's go back tosnow white, though.
I'm not done talking aboutthese characters yet, so I hated
uh, jonathan's character alittle bit in this movie.
A random character in thismovie who I thought had weird
intentions in this movie was theguard, the, the um, the
(44:38):
huntsman, the one who lets hergo into the woods yeah, I was
like, were you in love with thisgirl?
or like I mean, supposedly he'sthe only person who sees the
good in her heart and he feltsympathy for her.
Let her go.
But like it was almost kind oftoo weird how obsessive you were
with this little girl.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
Yeah, yeah, seriously
, but that was in the original
one too, the same thing they got, which I liked, how, when I saw
it the original one the scenewhere she sees his shadow in the
rock, they did that in theoriginal film as well.
The only difference is when thequeen opens the box and there's
(45:17):
an apple, he put a pig's heartin it in the original one, so
there was nothing about theapple picking and making the
pies, because when he takes herin the woods she's just picking
flowers, so there's no apples oranything.
So I like how they change someof the stuff, but the acting too
, from the 1937 one.
(45:37):
Even though it was a cartoon hewas still kind of dramatic
about trying not to kill her andhaving her run away, kind of
obsessed with her a little bituh, you mentioned one of the
picking apples.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
How did you feel
about the sets in these movies?
Speaker 1 (45:52):
I thought it was not,
you can tell.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Just it seems like a
very small set yes, yes, it was
all very practical, like I couldtell they were physically there
besides maybe a backdrop, butit was obviously like a fake
tree they were sitting on.
It looked plastic to me.
Um, one of the things I wantedto bring up in this podcast was
the town like after it becamelike all withered and you know,
(46:15):
old and dusty and stuff likethat.
I was like this looks like thefreaking same town I just seen
in wicked, like how it was likejust designed the kind of houses
it very looked.
It looked like recycled from oldsets.
Almost I should say it alsolooked like bells from um her
movie, her hometown, I I don'tknow.
I mean, yeah, I could see it,the one set I really did like
(46:37):
was the Seven Dwarfs house.
We haven't touched on them yet,but their house was awesome.
The castle was.
I wish we could explore that alittle bit more, because we only
seen close up inside the rooms.
We didn't even talk about themirror on the wall.
Very cool effects.
The only thing I liked aboutGal Gad godot's character how
(47:01):
they like had a black, uh smokeor whatever you want to call it
I liked that.
Yeah, that looked very cool, very, very cool.
That was underused, I think, um, but yeah, the the mirror on
the wall it's very cool.
They did the design a little bitat the end when they sucked her
into.
That was very cool I like that.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
Yeah, into stone.
Excuse me, isn't there like atheory?
Speaker 2 (47:13):
out there right now
like that yeah, Into stone.
Excuse me, Isn't there like atheory out there right now Like
that uh, from wish I I neverseen that movie.
That villain in that movie isactually the, the mirror on the
wall.
Have you seen that theory?
I got to send it.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
Oh, no, I haven't.
Yeah, you'll have to send methat.
No, I haven't seen Wish.
I want to see that because I ama fan of Ariana DeBow.
She was also in West Side Story.
She won the Oscar.
But yeah, no, I haven't seenthat one.
But I haven't heard that theory.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
I like all the little
Disney theories they throw in,
like how the Frozen parents orTarzan's parents.
Yeah, yeah, I do follow allthat stuff too, and I wish it
was like maybe lean into that alittle bit more in these live
actions.
That would be a little bit morecooler too um there's something
else I was gonna say about thatmirror too.
I can't remember what it was,but the mirror was.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
I liked the mirror.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
The mirror was really
cool yeah, yeah, and gal
godot's chemistry talking tothem.
Oh, that's, that's what it was.
The evil queens, her wholereason for wanting to steal the
empire, and like the kingdom andeverything like that and rule
everything is like mirror, mirror on the wall.
Who's the fairest of them all?
It's like who asked that?
Even like who's the fairest ofthem all?
(48:29):
And for you just not to be fair, like you're very like much
torturing these people yeah, like you made farmers enslaved
as your army, like who?
yeah and you're shocked thatlike no, you're not the fairest
of them all.
I'm surprised, like that wasn'teven she wasn't even the
fairest at one point.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Like that's kind of
kind of been she was evil um,
all right, let's talk about theseven dwarves.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
Controversy about
them.
This whole movie is nothing butcontroversies yep because they
didn't use real dwarves.
Making this movie, I was like Ican.
If you watch the movie, it'svery obvious why they didn't do
it.
They're cartoons, like.
They were very animated, likesame with the animals.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
The animals were all.
You could tell those same thing, ai or cgi, um I thought that
was bambi.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
I thought for sure,
that was bambi in the in the
beginning I was hoping it wasbambi.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
I thought it was
absolutely adorable.
Same with the little um littleheadshot.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
They were all
adorable, the animals um,
someone said that dopey stolethe whole movie for them like
they liked him that much.
They all look creepy.
They all look so creepy to me,honestly, I almost had
nightmares about they were thatcreepy yeah, they were a little
creepy um, but it wasn't, theydidn't show them dopey was.
(49:47):
He had a good side story alittle bit to his character um
how he was.
I mean I'm not too sure howmuch I can't remember how much
original like, how much true tohis'm not too sure how much I
can't remember how much originallike, how much true to his
story was to the movie, like Idon't remember him talking at
all I don't remember either andI don't even.
Speaker 1 (50:04):
I don't think.
And the same thing she didn'tteach him how to whistle.
In the original one.
They already knew how towhistle um.
Same thing in the movie, whenthey sing while they're cleaning
the house, whistle while youwork.
She's actually doing it in theoriginal one with all the
animals and they're not evenhome, the dwarves.
So I liked how they switch itso she spends a little bit more
(50:26):
time um with them and then addedthat whole story of her
teaching him how to whistle tofind his voice yeah, and it's
kind of odd that they theydidn't want to use real dwarves
for the movie, but then they had.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
They had a dwarf in
the other army they did so.
That made no sense at all yeahbecause he wanted his cross yeah
, the character, like the voices, were very funny and very
suiting to the characters likeuh doc and uh anger, who's?
Speaker 1 (50:53):
you know, anger was
just his face was like it's like
it reminded me of like um helooked like robin arrow, a
little bit kind of yeah, kind ofit reminded me the animation
from the jim carrey um christmascarol oh, oh, yes, yes, yes,
okay, yep, I can see that yeah,a little bit like that, mixed
(51:14):
with live action, like Bashful, his full beard and his smile.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
It was just
off-putting.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Honestly, you could
have made these characters a
little more adorable.
Yeah, they looked kind of rough.
They really worked hard inthose mines.
Speaker 2 (51:31):
Speaking of Christmas
movies, Dopey looked like the
kid from Polar Express, but juststretched out a little bit.
He did.
Yeah, he really did yeah I wishI would have got to see them at
least singing.
It was cool to see him workinginto the minds.
I thought it was pretty cool.
Um, a little bit more time withthe characters or the thing
would have been pretty cool.
Honestly, if they get their owndisney plus spinoff, I wouldn't
(51:51):
be surprised.
That'd be pretty tight I wouldwatch.
I would definitely watch thatand at the end at the end, when
it's like a big fight they'reshowing sneaking in and
everything like that you thinkit's gonna be a big epic battle.
All they do is just stand there.
I was like what was that buildup for?
Yeah, and they just talked tothe queen and then, yeah, at the
(52:12):
end, when she comes back to tryto take back the castle, like
it.
It was supposed to be a bigemotional scene that just didn't
quite hit, for some reason itlike jonathan, I remember you
used to own this farm onsebastian like you used to own
that bakery.
You know that.
Yeah, it just felt random and Iwas like you could have a
little bit more emotion in there.
Also, one thing I didn't noticeabout rachel I that I never
(52:35):
noticed in any other movie.
She has quite a bit ofunderbite.
That's kind of that's kind ofdistracting for me oh, yeah,
yeah, she kind of does yeah, butnothing, I'm not complaining
about her singing.
Overall they did you enjoy thismovie.
Would you see this movie again?
You already seen it twice, butI've seen it twice.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
First one I fell
asleep, but if it was on tv I
wouldn't go out of my way to seeit.
Or if I was at a friend's houseand their kids wanted to see it
or anything, I would watch it.
Um, but not one of my favoritelive action disney movies that
they've done.
Whenever cinderella or beautyand the beast, the live action
(53:13):
is on TV, I'll always watch itbecause I just absolutely love
it.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
But this one, no, not
so much do you think Rachel
deserves to get cancelled forall her actions and the movie
performance?
This movie, I think, is thelowest Disney released live
action movie of all time.
I think you just dethrone theDragon Ball Z rating on Rotten.
(53:40):
Tomatoes.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
Well, it'll
definitely be nominated for some
Razzies.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Do you think this
movie will be nominated for
anything in like Oscar season orEmmy season?
Speaker 1 (53:52):
I don't think so.
The only thing I could seewould maybe be some of the songs
um, but for acting anythinglike that I don't.
I don't think so because Ithink next year the big oscar
contender will definitely be thesecond wicked.
So anything going up againstthat, I think, is gonna have a
hard time wicked, I think.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
Wicked, one for best
sets, I believe, and like, maybe
like one or two other thingsyeah, costume I'm surprised it
didn't do better, honestly.
But yeah um, I was gonnamention about this, like it.
I honestly would like to see adocumentary about this movie,
how it was made and stuff likethat.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
Like that would be
interesting let's see how they
did, how her interacting withthe dwarfs.
It was just regular size guys,or yeah?
Well, not only that like um,but like just the drama wrapped
around this movie I would liketo see that like very well
explained um, and, like you said, she's a very talented actress.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
I hope she can get
some work in the future.
I'll I would like to see her onthe big screen.
I she was great in the umhunger games, the west side
story, and she looked like shehad a bright future.
Speaker 1 (55:03):
Did you see the movie
y2k?
Speaker 2 (55:05):
she was yeah, I did,
I did actually she was I need to
see that one she was okay inthat movie.
She was another one that didn'treally bring too much.
She was very from.
That was her last movie thatreleased.
It's seen her from jump fromy2k to this movie huge nine day
thing, because she's like likejust a teenager, like you know
cussing and you know she's likethat and it was a big change.
(55:29):
It was a big change.
I should say, um, what wouldyou rate snow before you, before
we rate it?
Actually, do you have anythingelse you want to add to the
review?
Speaker 1 (55:39):
I don't think so.
Well, I when I was doing myresearch on it I was surprised
to see that the director andeven the writer for the movie.
So the director, he did 500days of summer, which I love
that movie.
But then I saw he also directed.
Most of his stuff he directedwere all music videos, so he is
(56:02):
in the whole like he can shoot agood music video and then this
obviously it's sort of a musical.
But for the writing the scriptI noticed she direct, she wrote
like a lot of kind of darkmovies.
So surprised you would havesomeone who's not as well known
and done like upbeat movies umwrite the script, compared to
(56:25):
someone I believe she wrote themovie chloe with amanda seyfried
and I think was it juliannemoore.
Speaker 2 (56:33):
Well, didn't they
have to go back and do a lot of
reshoots too?
Speaker 1 (56:37):
They did.
Yeah, they had to go back anddo reshoots.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
I'm wondering if
that's why, because it was too
dark?
Speaker 1 (56:43):
Yeah, and she also
wrote the Girl on the Train with
Emily Blunt, so I know it was abook, but she wrote the screen
adaptation.
And then she wrote Men, womenand and children, so she did a
lot of dark movies where this isa big disney film.
So you would think you wouldwant to get someone who kind of
(57:04):
I don't know writes happy movies.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Yeah yeah, at least
think like a writer from one of
the other live action moviesyou've done.
You don't think?
Even if it's not a writer, youcan like have some like be
produce it and like overlook thescript or something exactly
yeah, there's a lot of thingsthey they could have done,
should have done, and I feellike I have.
Midway through the point, theyalready knew what there was
gonna be a train wrecks likefuck it, let's just release it
exactly, yeah, and they decidedto dump it in january, I mean on
(57:29):
march.
I'm surprised they didn't dojanuary.
Um, it could have been a greatsummer blockbuster.
And it sucks to see rachel gothrough everything like this,
because I don't know she she'slearning how fucking hollywood
works.
I guess you know exactly.
Um, anything else, I mean galgadot.
I don't think her career isgonna be hurt at all, which you
(57:51):
know, unfortunate, and becausesometimes I don't know she's
already lined up to be I'massuming to be in the next Fast
and Furious movie because of howit ended.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
I've still been
waiting for that yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
I mean, she just got
done with brain surgery like a
few months ago too, so that'sthe pressure up and at them like
doing all this press as much asshe's doing yeah what would you
rate this movie?
One out of ten probably a fourthat's a pretty solid rating.
I would probably agree with you.
I'll give this movie a four aswell.
(58:25):
I've judged my ratings by.
So, like rewatchability, youknow, like chemistry and stuff
like that, I honestly don't seemyself watching this movie ever
again yeah, no like I said alittle kid, so they like the
movie a lot.
So that's what really mattersexactly.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
There was an older
woman and a little kid.
They enjoyed it, because theolder woman obviously brings her
back to her childhood andlittle kids they just love
princesses.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
So she was.
Do you think it's gonna be abig halloween costume this year?
Maybe I don't know, that's atough one we have so much stuff
coming in between then like it'sgonna be tough yeah there's a
lot more.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
I feel like some
people probably be lilo and
stitcher moana yeah is moanacoming out this year?
I think it's.
Is it coming out?
I don't know.
Is it coming out in november?
No, the last one, wana 2, cameout in november, so I don't know
when the live action one'scoming out actually I think elio
(59:26):
was the next disney movie whichthat looks cute.
Speaker 2 (59:30):
They showed the
trailer for that during the
movie yeah, I wasn't on boardfor it, but then I seen the
trailer.
It's a cute concept and theyhave an alien and then they'd be
friends, that kind of like.
There's a scene in there wherehe gets in his mouth, that kind
of like unsettling to me, solike I don't know how.
Well, yeah, yeah, uh.
What other movies are youlooking forward to come out this
year before you?
Speaker 1 (59:49):
go um.
Let's see, I just saw theposter announcement, for I know
what you did last summer I didsee that.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
Yeah, the original
cast is coming back too yes, I'm
very.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
I remember seeing
that when I was little and being
absolutely terrified and buyinga bootleg version at the train
station, where it was someonewith the big video camera
sitting in the movie theaterrecording it and people walking
by.
I wasn't old enough to see itin theaters yet, so the closest
was buying it from a guy at thetrain station.
(01:00:21):
But I'm excited for that, thefantastic four.
I'm also excited to see the newPaul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, the
death.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Yeah, more trailers
are coming about that are and
what's his name's in there too?
Um, the young guy he's.
He's blowing up right nowwhat's the yes, he has the
eyebrows.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
He was in guardians
of the millers, yeah yeah, at
the millers and he has a newmovie coming out.
I want to see with daisy edgarjones and jacob alordi um, that
one is called.
That one looks really good.
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
I don't think I've
seen him in dope sick on the the
show with um on hulu.
It's a short series, so greathe's amazing in there yeah, he's
a good actor um that movielooks great um he also announced
the movie with uh chris evansand pedro pascal and dakota
johnson, if I'm not mistaken oh,materialist.
Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
Yes, I want to see
that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
That looks good I
don't know anything about it
other than the poster the poster.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Yeah, so I saw the
trailer for it.
It looks good.
It looks like she is amatchmaker and so she matches
people, and then she meets PedroPascal's character and he's
rich, and then her old friendwho is just kind of a waiter is
Chris Evans, it looks like, andso it's kind of her the romance
(01:01:48):
comedy though exactly.
She's torn between someonewho's known her and she grew up
with, or a rich man who's paidthe pass.
That would be a tough one tochoose between the two of them.
Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Man Pedro, has blown
up in the past eight years and
it's incredible to watch hiscareer take off.
I love it.
You mentioned Daisy.
What's her name?
Daisy Edgar Jones.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Daisy Edgar Jones.
Yes, she was in Twisters.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
She was also in Fresh
.
She's another one.
I'm enjoying watching hercareer.
Uh, take off.
She's, she's.
I think she's great, she's I dotoo one pal is great.
You mentioned twisters.
He has a new movie coming outpretty soon, he's actually
coming out with a very diversitymovie.
He's coming out like playingvery different characters of
like.
I think that someone he'splaying out, some kind of loser
or something like that histransformation is.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
He's a great actor
he's great and I heard he's
going to be.
Supposedly they're looking tokind of reboot the texas
chainsaw massacre yeah, I didsee that he's looking he might
be in that which I love.
That film um.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
I always describe him
as um.
I think he's our generation's nMcConaughey.
Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
I could see that.
I could totally see that I lovehim.
He's great.
He's been around for a while,so it's finally nice to see him
being the leading man in things.
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
I think his first
role was in the Spy Kids.
I think so yeah yeah, he's agood actor with the actor's
track ending last year or theyear before and we're still
seeing the effects of it.
Do you think soon we're gonnaget back in the groove of things
, because last year sucked tomovies?
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
oh, it did.
It was awful.
Um, I'm hoping so, because I'mseeing every time I go to the
movies now and I see all the newmovie posters, I'm counting
like each one.
I'm like, okay, I want to seethat one, that that one.
I feel more and more movies arecoming out in the theaters, but
then also there's so many thatthey're coming out with on the
streaming services which I keepup with.
(01:03:43):
It is there's new movies allthe time which I'm kind of
bummed that the new Russobrother movie with Bobby Brown
wasn't a movie considered to bein theaters than just netflix
because didn't really get allthe publicity and everything.
I still haven't seen it meneither but netflix.
(01:04:04):
That's the reason I feel likethey're raising the cost is
because they're making all thesebig blockbusters.
Well, that they hope andwanting to pay all these big
stars.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
I haven't even seen
Miles Teller and Anna
Taylor-Joy's the Grunge on AppleTV.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
I really want to see
that I absolutely loved that
movie.
That was a great movie.
I'm a big Anna Taylor-Joy fanand she was phenomenal in that
Mine too.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
Miles Teller is
incredible.
I've been waiting for it, him,he has.
He's been kind of quiet lately.
This is the first movie in likesince maverick, if I want to
say, if I'm not mistaken yeah, Iwould say I yeah he's great.
I want to see him come back alittle bit more and I also
curious to see if they werebringing back for a marvel movie
as mr fantastic, if they'rebringing all these um variants
(01:04:53):
and you know, since they are, they should that'd be pretty
sick, like a council of reeds, you know.
We've seen that in the comicsbefore yeah um well, tori, I
cannot thank you so much forcoming on the podcast for the
first time.
It was great talking to you.
I definitely like I'd love tohave you back on sometime soon
um yeah, yeah, very fun, likegood hollywood updates, you know
.
And we dove deep, pretty, prettydeep into Snow White, like I
(01:05:16):
said, next Disney project isElio, but I'm curious to see
what Disney's going to pull, because they announced they're
going to be working more onquality versus quantity, so
we'll see what that is.
Yeah, last minute movierecommendation for listeners out
there.
What would you recommend?
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
Let's see.
I would have to say one of myfavorite movies about movies is
cinema paradiso.
No, so it's an italian film.
It came out in the 80s, it wonthe Oscar for Best Foreign Film
and it's about a little boy whoworks at a movie theater in
Italy and the man who works inthe projection booth gets
(01:06:07):
injured and blind and so he, asa little boy, is helping him do
the movies in Italy at the oldtheater where they had to censor
all the movies so they had totake out all the kissing scenes.
So it takes place like in theI'd say, probably the 40s or 50s
.
Then when he gets older hebecomes a famous director.
So it's him kind of going backto Italy and recalling like
(01:06:30):
everything in his wholechildhood, just growing up with
the movies.
That is just the soundtrack andyou're, marconi, beautiful
score.
It's just.
If you love movies, that's justa great movie about interesting
.
Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
I'm gonna have to
definitely check that out.
Definitely check that out.
Um, my girl, she's in thebollywood movies, so we're gonna
be checking out some of thosepretty soon too so bollywood
bollywoods are fun too.
I like those as well yeah, yeah, I have to let you know what I
think about them because, like Inever tried them before, I
never tried them for I'm goingin there open-minded.
Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Hopefully she's
steering the right direction,
but yeah, I'm doing that if youlike musicals, there's lots of
good dancing and some of thosethings good all right.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Um, once again, thank
you for coming on the podcast.
Thank you for everyonelistening.
Um, it's a great episode.
I'm excited to really uhrelease this one out.
Um, thank you so much.
No problem, thank you forlistening again.
Uh, follow.
I'm going to tag tori and allthe instagram pages so you can
go follow her pages, see herreviews.
Um, you can follow you onletterboxd.
Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
You got to link your
letterboxd on your instagram too
, because I that's why, that'swhy I ended up asking you I need
to update it a little bit morebecause I'll go through each
year and just any movie from the40s on.
I just go through every movieI've seen.
Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
I'll just try to like
it and add to it yeah, yeah,
definitely, um, follow both ofthem on the box.
We're both pretty active onthere.
I would say um thank you fornext week.
I believe it might trying tothink what next week might be.
I don't think there's anymovies coming out that I wanted
to see next year, next week, next week actually, it's the
(01:08:03):
minecraft movie.
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
I'm not seeing that
movie, yeah I know that just
yeah, I'll wait for that, but tobe on streaming I doubt I'm
going to see that even then, yeah, but um, next week it might
be an open tabs.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
I might have another
special guest coming on, so I'm
excited to get into those.
But thank you for listening.
Stay tuned next week where I'llbe saving you a seat.
Bye.
