Speaker 1 (00:05):
excuse me, is anybody
sitting here?
Sorry, this is taken sorry thisis like the time of year where
movies are picking up and thetheaters are more packed.
This definitely notices this.
Past friday, when we went firstof all, I went to imagine.
I never go to imagine it's anicer theater than amc is around
here.
You don't ever go to Imagineit's a nicer theater than AMC's
(00:25):
around here.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
You don't ever go to
Imagine.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
No only for the
really, really big movies.
Yeah, Imagine's dope.
Go to the comfortable seatings.
I like the screenings a littlebit better.
Their concessions seem moreappealing than AMC's.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
You didn't get
anything.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
No, I'm not a big
snack guy in the movies.
Yeah, maybe once in a while Iget some candy.
Not a popcorn guy Really.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Anthony was sharing
that popcorn with me and didn't
even touch it until the end ofthe movie, and I was like what
the fuck, man?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
And then I did get a
beer.
Though I never drink at thetheaters, I did get a beer and
that was pretty awesome becausemostly when I go to these movies
I don't like to take anythingor drink anything before a movie
because it takes me out of themovie.
Man like I'm thinking, likethis is totally this person's
totally acting, like I'mthinking more behind the scenes
(01:17):
stuff than that like man theother probably reset this like
five times, you know.
And then at this point thewhole action scene just passed.
I was like, yeah, so I don'tlike doing, like drinking too
much, but this one added to myadrenaline.
It cooled me down.
This movie was sick.
We were going to talk today.
Welcome back to.
This Is Taken.
I'm your host, Rob Miranda.
We're going to be doing talkingabout From the World of John
(01:41):
Wick Ballerina.
But there was already a movie, like in the early 2000s, called
Ballerina.
But I was like you could havecome up with something creative
at least.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, well, she was
one of the ballerinas.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, ballerina,
maybe like Seeks Revenge or
something like that.
You know, because John Wick isalso John Wick, chapter 1, 2,
also john wick, chapter one two, three, four, yeah, so it could
have been, her could have beenanything, john wick, I don't
know they really wait.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
What's her name?
Speaker 1 (02:09):
in the name uh eve
yeah, why couldn't?
It be like chapter one or eve'srevenge oh, they could have
gave her a last name like that.
That would have been sick,right?
John wick is a dope name, butyeah.
Yeah, and for our throwback,we're going to be talking about
the 2011 Hannah movie.
Never seen it, never even heardof it, until you brought it up
(02:32):
when I asked you about thepodcast Action movie.
Yeah, I have a lot of hot takeson that movie.
It's a good movie, don't get mewrong, but it pairs perfectly
with Ballerina.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
It's the first thing
I thought of, Because I kind of
forgot.
You always like to do twomovies and I was like you know
what?
I haven't seen this movie in awhile.
And I loved it back in the daywhen I was in high school.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
And it's the same
name as you too.
I spelled it differently, yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Okay, I put the H at
the end, uh you and mother or
big movie fans.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
I know your mom's
been going to the movies.
I don't know how I know that,but I know your mom's been going
to the movies but you don'tbecause she's an amc member too
and all that or member probablycinemark, cinemark, cinemark.
That's pretty sick though Ilike how she does that still oh,
every weekend they're going tothe movies if you're gonna go to
the movies this year um no,just with you dude it's picking
up.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
wait, did we go to
the movies earlier this year?
See, I have this problem everysingle time you ask me.
I like never go to the movies, but we did just pay like $20 to
watch that war movie that justcame out not too long ago.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yeah, warfare or
something like that, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
So we bought that on
the TV, but we like to just be
at home watching movies, moviesyou have to see in theaters,
some of them at least.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Warfare was a good
example.
You should have seen that intheaters.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I know, I know Avatar
we saw in theaters.
Yeah, movies like that are madefor the movie theater
experience, Honestly theballerina, one, though probably
could have waited until it wasat home.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Maybe especially if
you had a good surround sound
system.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Oh yeah, jacob has
all that.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah, I think that's
what adds to it.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
But as far as plot
wise, we'll get into it.
I don't know it was okay.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
The movie like it
made up for some parts with
other aspects, but the actionoverall this is okay.
I mean it definitely is a johnwick movie.
You can definitely feel it andeven the john wick especially
the first one, like the premiseis is not great.
It's good but it's at the endof the day, like you make fun of
it in the movie, like all thisbecause of a dog, you know, and
(04:32):
this one is this a very simpleplot line best friends.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Okay, our dogs are
our best friends and this one is
very simple too.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
It's just as simple
you kill my dad and I want to
come kill you yeah you knowthere's nothing too much into
the actual plot, but they makeup for it in the actions and the
explosion.
That's what you go in wantingto see in a john wick movie.
That's what I'm expecting.
Um, before we get into that, Ijust want to talk more about
movies, because a lot of movienews dropped.
Uh, we got a new trailer, thefinal trailer for fantastic four
(05:01):
.
I'm super into all the nerdstuff where I'm all over the
show on Franklin and you knowthere's a bunch of other
characters Superman's rightaround the corner.
I've been getting geeked forSuperman.
I'm not even a DC guy, butSuperman I'm getting very
excited for.
I've had their Superman DQblizzard like three times
already.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Wait what's in it?
Like the Superman ice cream.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, it's like the
cotton candy, but not cotton
candy.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
It's like birthday
cake in there instead, is it the
colors of Superman ice?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
cream.
Yeah, it's just blue.
That's what makes it Superman.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Just blue Isn't the
normal blue, red and yellow when
you get it at any ice creamparlor.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, I guess Dairy
Queen's fucking up, but it's a
blizzard.
Not ice cream, though.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Like a scooped ice
cream like ice cream, though
like a scooped ice cream, yeah, but I don't know, okay, whatever
, I'm thinking too far into it.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
You are.
You're uh, dc, just partneredup with fortnite.
I've been playing a lot offortnite lately and they teamed
up with superman super.
You can play superman in thecharacter.
Just more specifically, uh, thenew superman coming out very
sick, uh.
What else is coming out?
F1 brad brad pitt's new movie,f1 uh racing.
Have you seen trailers forthose looks phenomenal.
(06:09):
It's the same guy who directedtalk on maverick.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Do we see any
trailers?
No, we showed up a little bitlater oh, it's because I was
driving me nuts on the inside.
I have to be there for thetrailers you know, anthony did
make a comment of that.
He was like I bet robert islike, like cussing you out for
like running behind on parkingand stuff, because he likes the
previews.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
I love the trailers,
even though I've seen them.
It's probably nothing I haven'tseen before, but I still.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I love watching them
still I mean I do too, and I'm a
person that kind of misses umcommercials and shows I kind of
miss, like I'm a weirdo but Imiss them.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
There's AMC
announcements that just came out
this past week.
They're adding more commercialsto their thing Really.
Right now you wait 20 minutesfrom the start time, 20 minutes
of the trailers, between 20 and25 minutes, and now it might be
a little bit longer.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Really Okay if it's
movie stuff, fine, but I hate
when they do like their movietheater commercials.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
That's like long as
shit, and then it's like a super
loud like nicole kimmins andnoise that drives me nuts
because, like we're already inamc, why do you need to do a
commercial for?
Speaker 3 (07:19):
us.
I could see you playing on theoutside or something or like
before the previews start, doyour commercials and then keep
the preview time for thoselouder ones.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
They mostly do for
the most part.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah, but then they
throw in that loud one right at
the end.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
I like to show up
honestly 15 minutes before a
movie starts.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Weirdo man.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
I am weird Because
they do play those local
commercials there.
And then the start time, thenit's the previews.
I love every single one of them.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
then they now that
you have to have previews for,
like an ac commercial for you'rewatching this on the imac the
imax commercial, or the, the vfxone or whatever it was cinema
and then you go through theactual nicole kitman one, and
then there's one for coca-cola.
I was like god damn it, duderight, I just want the movies.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Okay, that's all I
care about care about I get it,
they probably go play good.
Coca-cola probably pays goodmoney for that commercial every
single time.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, but we all buy
Coca-Cola, so you only sell Coke
products too.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
I mean, yeah, I do
like the Coke machine Seriously
wait.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Does any movie
theater sell Pepsi products?
Speaker 1 (08:18):
I don't Not AM and
not AMC.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Comment, if you know,
if one does Seriously, because
now I need to know.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
I don't think AMC
Imagine.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
I don't even think
like Harkin Cedar in Arizona
sells Pepsi, I think it's Cokeproducts Interesting.
Oh, I'm looking that up later, for sure.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, you're going to
expose them.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, I like those
random facts Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
AMC does have a bar.
The bar is not nearly as coolas the one is.
Imagine.
Very nice, just ain't as nice.
I mean, the one in amc 16 isnot too bad.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I didn't even know
they had a bar there I thought
imagine was the only one I mightapply.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
I heard there's a
bartending position open there
yeah, I might apply.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Have you ever
bartended?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
no, I served before,
but not bartended do you know
how to make cocktails?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
no, oh wait, you have
your buddy though, right yeah,
yeah from greg, from the awkwardbartender podcast yeah, yeah,
he could teach you some tricksyeah.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah you see me like
tom cruise and shit for the
models, but I was like that'slike a perfect gig, just serving
drinks and talking movies witheverybody there yeah, that's
right up your alley that seemspretty dope I don't know, I'm
drinking, though.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
I'm not even gonna
lie.
I'm a little hungover, sodrinking right now sounds
terrible.
It's not that bad.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
I mean, the hangovers
are bad, but drinking that's
pretty awesome in the summertime.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I guess yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
It's having a good
weather.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
A little too far last
night.
Brew at the zoo okay, Brew atthe zoo.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Brew at drinks.
Gotta get my 55 worth.
I would totally probably.
I'm turning 30 next year.
I probably would have a movie.
Uh, move party at the movietheater like an imagine you know
you are funny.
That would be sick yeah that'dbe sick heck, yeah rent out a
movie theater like and have abirthday party because imagine
has those rooms there for you torent out the parties yeah but I
think all it is is like a roomwith a table and chairs cody and
tree said their house.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
They have bonfires
and they have a big blow up
screen that we watch.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I want one of those.
Yeah, you should do that.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
That way, you can do
whatever you want.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah, my future goal.
Maybe I got a backyard.
I just told you before thepodcast.
I got like a lot of free timenow.
Yeah, I do want to pick a movieto make people who love movies
(10:33):
and don't love movies, or justshow up for the party a classic
what would you put on?
I don't know, I already knowthere is an answer for me, you
know there's an answer for you.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
I think that would be
universally loved like super
bad that wouldn't work for somepeople.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Really, I've been on
this podcast, yeah, I guess
you're right.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
I guess you're right.
What is your pick?
Uh, I would say rush hour oh,that's a good one, that's a
pretty universally loved moviethat is maybe friday.
Some people won't like that one.
I'm kind of like I'm thinkingof people that's been on the
podcast so what?
What's the difference betweensuper bad and friday?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
uh, you, I don't know
the profanity.
I think there's like do you seetits in there?
Speaker 3 (11:15):
all right, friday is
still yeah, kind of like the
same tier, kind of yeah yeah, but rush hour seems like safe
action.
Funny, good, heartfelt yeah, yeah, you could do roadhouse the
original one, the original, yeah, the second one sucked yeah
, I mean, jake jillenhall isjust nice matter of fact.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Uh, the guy who came
on here, chris fritza.
He came onto this podcast andwe did talk about the second
world word house not too longago and he promoted his usc
fight.
I think it's happening thisweek or next week, so good luck
out there, chris Good luck.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Don't know you, but
good luck, you probably won't
listen Ballerina.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
We went to go see
Ballerina.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
We went together too,
guys.
Yeah, we enjoyed the movietogether with a couple of our
buddies.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Do you like going
with a group of people, or would
you go by yourself?
Speaker 3 (12:03):
I, like a couple of
our buddies, do you like going
with a group of people, or wouldyou go by yourself?
I like to go with my husband aslike a date, or I go with my
mom and, like my, aunt and herfriend.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
So yeah, usually it's
like a group of people or it's
just like me and my husband on adate it is, I don't know I
can't do by myself if I'm bymyself, I'm gonna fall asleep no
, I love going by myself, especially when you go by
yourself and get the entiretheater to yourself oh well,
yeah, if I had no one else inthere.
But yeah, I don't know.
Even so, I like to go by myselflike my mom does too sometimes
(12:30):
I think I'm more shy to likelaugh a lot, but like, if
there's enough of you guyslaughing, then it's pretty cool
yeah but yeah, I like it bymyself.
You know, even if, like, there'snobody in the theater or
there's like one or two peopleand I'm sitting behind them,
I'll just watch the movie andscroll on my phone the entire
time yeah, anthony was scrollingon his phone next.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
That's kind of
ignorant.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
I hate that I was, I
looked over and I was like this
bitch no, I hate people whodon't have movie theater.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Etiquette for a
little bit at the beginning and
then he put it down.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
I didn't say anything
, but I didn't notice him as
much, but I've seen people likeeither in front of me, down a
little bit, or someone to theright of me I hate that, it
annoys me or people who answerthe phone, you know oh, fuck
them.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, kicked out.
Yeah, citizens arrest.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
I'm kicking you out I
always think about going about
complaining to somebody andbeing that guy, but I'm so
nervous like walking down andthen we come back up and the
theater guy comes in likethey're gonna know it's me
exactly.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
No, just uh, take
popcorn down or something, get a
refill, oh wait.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Oh wait.
You don't have popcorn atmovies.
I need an alibi.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Sometimes candy.
Come back with candy.
There you go.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah, john Wick
movies.
You've seen all of them, rightyeah?
Okay, good.
I was kind of nervous.
I didn't ask you that before wewent to go see this one Big fan
of the franchise.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Well, that's why I
said I wanted to do this one,
because I like the john wickmovies.
Yeah, do you?
I think this movie feltperfectly into the universe of
john wick.
It did it, definitely did.
I like that.
It was now one of the girlsstories, because you got to see
blips of them and stuff like inthe second one, yeah, yeah but I
I like that.
I saw way more of it in thisone yeah, so you know what we
can talk.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
A little bit of facts
about that.
I did read about this one.
I mean, this movie's been inthe works since the second John
Wick movie it's just been pickedup retold different stories.
They always wanted to dosomething with that one and
that's why I think this moviedoes take place between the
second and third movie.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Yeah, it has to right
because he died almost.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
he looks like he dies
in the last one and they
thought he does die in the lastone.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Yeah, they just don't
address why he's here yeah in
the movie the time frame I'msure like because it clips back
to when he goes in that hallwayand it's pretty close after that
yeah, but then she's a littlebit older and it's after that
though.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Oh, you're right.
So it's either right after thethird John Wick or maybe the
second one.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Did we look it up?
No, I was going to.
We did this last time westarted spewing out things.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Yeah, we ended up
telling hella wrong facts about
that movie.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Oh yeah, loretta Lynn
yeah that was good.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
So I didn't really
have a lot of faith in this
movie.
I thought it was going to beLike the studio saw.
It was not that good and that'swhy they heavily marketed.
Yeah, it's part of the JohnWick universe.
It's part of the John Wickuniverse.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
They even retitled it
from the world of John Wick,
it's after chapter three, beforechapter four starts.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Okay, which makes
sense.
But it's also the same timehe's supposed to be on the run
too.
At the end of chapter three hegets a hit on him.
So everyone in the world'safter this guy.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
But then it shows
that she has her hit on her at
the end of the movie.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Eve went to the very
top.
No, no Talk about the end ofJohn Wick two.
You said it's after three,nevermind.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Yeah, it's after
three.
Okay.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Okay, and then?
Speaker 3 (15:41):
she has the hit on
her at the end of her movie.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, which is
obviously setting up for
possible sequels and it mightnot be the same exact movie as
John Wick 2?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
then, because that's
what happens then, yeah, I hope
it's her, though still, but Ihope it just gets more intense.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Yeah, I mean, I could
definitely see her returning.
There hasn't been officialconfirmation as of right now.
Yeah, but I'm sure once the boxnumbers come, in which our
theater was packed, there was alot of people there Surprisingly
.
I didn't think it was gonna bethat many people.
I'm sure once they see thenumbers opening weekend.
It's going to get announcedshortly after.
So there's one, two, three, four John wicks.
(16:19):
There's a prequel show, thecontinental.
There's a show, yeah, onPeacock.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
It.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
There's a show, yeah
on peacock, it's winston like
him how he became the manager.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Shut up, yeah, oh my
god, there's a lot of famous
actors in that one too, I havepeacock.
I'm gonna watch that.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Yeah, I need a new
show, it's set in the 70s, if
I'm not mistaken.
So that's, that's been nicekane from john wick 4 is getting
his own spin-off movie.
There is going to be a prequel.
There's going to be john wick 5too.
There's going going to be aprequel.
John Wick either movie or showcoming out.
I want to say show, but I alsoheard anime too.
So who knows, that would besick too, and obviously a
(16:56):
possible sequel for theBollywood movie I like action
movies.
I mean it's definitely afranchise.
I liked how it went from just atrilogy to a franchise now.
But how much can you milk outof these?
How much can you milk out ofthese?
How much can you milk?
I feel like I said this is avery dry plot, but there was a
lot of action in it and I likehow it's obvious it's not a john
(17:17):
wickton movie.
To me now it's a ballerinamovie.
She definitely made a name forherself because a totally
different fighting style johnwick is with the double pistols
and sometimes so we're likerandom weapons, like even a
pencil.
This one is obviouslyexplosives.
Her take is explosive, specifically grenades, and it's
like axing people in the faceand shit like that yeah, that
(17:38):
was intense, or um well, her daddoes the smoke bombs too at the
beginning that's she probablysaw that growing up and seized
grenades and fucking smoke bombsand she goes two together yeah,
before we go any further, I'llread the plot real quick.
Um, an assassin trained in thetraditions of roscoe ruma
organization set out to seekrevenge after her father's death
(18:00):
.
Director was len wiseman, written by shea hatton.
This is like the first timealso john wick quote unquote
John Wick movie without theoriginal directors.
The same guy directed all fiveof them.
Oh, this one is a totallydifferent director and it's
similar style.
There's some things I wouldhave liked to have seen in this
(18:22):
movie that would have made it alot better.
Example the movie opens up onthis little girl who was
witnessing her dad get torturedand killed.
Essentially, there is a point inthe movie where you can clearly
see where her point ofinnocence changed, like was
taken away from her.
I should say there's.
She makes the choice to shootand kill somebody to save her
father, and he even knew thatwas a big deal for her too.
(18:45):
You know, like he, he is gonnabe trying to calm her down.
Once you meet that first kill, you're never going back.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
And I think that was
a turning point for this woman
in real life.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Well, when she does
it again, it snaps that image
back in her head too.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
But I wish they would
have shown that Like there is
she, so she also meets this guyfrom a rivaling cult kind of
thing.
It's weird.
Who's trying to get hisdaughter out of the cult Similar
situation to her.
So that's why she takes itpersonal.
The dad does look like he getskilled.
I wish there was a scene wherethe little girl sees a gun and
(19:18):
tries to kill her too, but shestops him thinking like you
don't want that innocence takenaway.
You know, I would have lovedthat scene.
I mean I'm sure that wasimplied kind of thing, because
obviously she doesn't want her, that little girl, to end up like
her exactly, but that wouldhave been sick.
I thought maybe the directorthought it was too much on the
nose or maybe you didn't thinkabout it at all no, I think that
would have been great in themovie.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, it would have
tied it a little bit better in,
and at the very beginning too, Ifelt like her.
She was awkward, it like waslittle girl, no, no, no oh, anna
darmas yeah, she was just alittle awkward at the beginning,
like when she was firststarting out, like she goes to
the continental the first timewith the coin yeah you can just
tell like it's just also.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
This is also an
origin story for her too.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
So these are like her
first missions.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
True, obviously she's
gonna get nothing but better.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
I'm sure that's all
the amateurs start right after
that first hotel scene I waslike okay, this is getting a
little bit better now.
That was just kind of awkwardeven that scene like.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
That was her first
mission.
She was a little bit sloppywith this she had.
They didn't even trust her awhole lot either, so that's why
they gave her rubber bullets, um, but you know it's, it's an
origin story.
That's what sets us apart fromjohn wick.
You don't know john wick's yeah, they're going to come out with
a prequel later, but I likethat.
He's already this badass.
We already established we don'thave to build up to anything
like that.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
It's just him being
badass.
I felt like with her movie theykind of did it too fast.
It was all crumbled into onemovie, but it still took a while
to get to the end.
Yeah, there were stilllingering parts, but it crumbled
in other parts, if that makessense.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah, and also the
ending.
Instead of like the first johnwick having a satisfying ending,
this one it was obviously setout to build a franchise because
, now, though, now that family'sgonna have to go to war with
the spoiler.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Do we say spoiler?
This is spoiler alert.
Go ahead, all right, it's aspoiler alert.
John wick killing the fuck orthe guy in the cult or whatever,
and she doesn't even get to.
That made me mad yeah, thatmade me mad, but I know it's
because he had until midnight orwhatever, and then the rules
went back in apply or whatever.
So that's why he did it,because he looked at his watch.
(21:23):
But come on, you took her, youtook the kill.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I don't remember her,
him killing her.
What the, what the oh, with theguy with the, the flamethrower
with the sniper.
No, no, no, the old the guy theolder guy, I thought she, oh
she, he did kill her, and thenhe was like a slicer or
something like that because thenshe looks up at him and she's
like piss that he took her, himout.
Wait right yeah, I don't thinkso that's not how I remember in
(21:49):
it.
I know, I know john wick doeskill the guy with the sniper,
okay, so I mean there's a wholelot of things.
Maybe I'm getting it mixed upthere's a whole lot of things,
but I want to go through likeeach character first before um,
anna de armas.
I'm not I've been very vocalI'm not a big fan of anna as an
actress what else is she?
she was in ghosted.
They came out.
She's a couple big movies.
Let me see she's most known forthe blade runner movies.
(22:14):
Uh, knives out.
She played blonde um, blonde ummarilyn monroe.
She was in ghosted.
She was in the gray man deepwater, deep water.
You reviewed that with me onthis podcast also, I think your
first episode.
Oh yeah, so she has been aroundfor a while and I've seen
Knives Out.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
I haven't seen any of
those other movies.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
She's actually a
pretty big name in Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
And it was actually a
pretty big deal when she got
announced as this casting choice.
I don't know, I thought she didvery okay in this kind of movie
.
Yeah, nothing stood out to meabout her as anybody else could
do.
I mean, honestly, this moviejust reminded me that it wanted
to be a Black Widow movie so bad.
Yeah, or Black Widow wanted tobe this movie so bad.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Yeah, yeah.
I feel like there could havebeen a better person, honestly,
to do an action movie like this.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
That's comparable to,
because even her acting like in
the, not like the fightingscenes, like she was cool, doing
badass, doing the action scenes, but like the scene where she's
at the ballerina.
I was like the mistress wantsto see you.
She's so dry, which I mean thatcould be the character being
miserable around that time, butshe was like the monotone
throughout the whole movie.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, exactly, I
needed more.
I needed something more.
Who do you think would havebeen better in her spot?
Speaker 1 (23:28):
You know, I wanted to
be safe and say like I was
Scarlett Johansson or JenniferLawrence, but I feel like those
are like babying the roles toomuch.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Yeah, jennifer
Lawrence, I don't think would be
good.
What's her name, Mom?
I could see Scarlett Johansson,though.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
She's a little bit
older now, but Florence Pugh
would have been great.
You think I love Florence.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
I great.
You think I love florence.
I do too, but for this roleit's too similar action to um.
Honestly, I think the girl thatplays hannah in the movie I,
the other movie I picked I thinkshe's uh yeah, but now she's a
little bit older.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Yeah, you're right,
but um, florence, people like
it's too much similar to herthunderbolts movie that just
came out like action wise, likeher fighting style and stuff
like that.
The entire time you would havebeen thinking about Marvel
instead of John Wick, I think.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
But she did okay.
I want to talk about KeanuReeves as John Wick.
Does it add more to thecharacter?
I don't think so.
Not at all.
Actually, Does it take awayfrom it?
Not really it just makes itseem very reliant on him, like,
okay, this movie isn't working, let's throw john wick in there.
Finally, you know, becausethere is even a scene where the
(24:36):
john wick scene like that churchwhen he gets discovered, like
this isn't even about a scenelike this is his scene like they
had to get some of his fightingin there too because we all
like when john wick fights.
Yeah, yeah, because I did enjoythat scene if they would have
just like left it as a smallcameo in the very beginning of
the church or the ballot likewherever they live and showing
(24:57):
up giving that advice just oneother time, for a blip or
something would have been fine, but that whole scene it did
take away from her kind of Ithink so, but like it didn't add
anything to john wick, like shecalls him, because now he this
is the player, like he owns him, basically to do favors and he
shows up on a train almost aslike as our call pet.
(25:19):
You know, like your your dad todo this and he doesn't want to
do it.
He does not want to kill thisperson.
He like goes out of his way togive her like 80 chances to
leave.
Yeah, so once john wick has aheart he does have a heart
because he gives her like tillmidnight he gives her like an
actual 15 minutes to do what shegot to do.
Otherwise it's lame.
I'll talk about the third acttoo, in a minute because, like
(25:41):
with the flamethrowers, becausethat was kind of I didn't think
that was as cool as theyprobably thought it was going to
be yeah, it wasn't the waterthing, yeah but that whole thing
was symbolism.
I like that because in the liketowards the beginning of the
movie, when she's training andshe's fighting that bigger guy,
she keeps losing.
She's like you're fighting him, like fight against him, like
his strengths, like look at histhings and change up your style,
(26:02):
like fucking open up.
Yeah, definitely does verysymbolize, like in that fight
with the flamethrower.
Flamethrower wasn't cutting itbecause he's trying to fight
fire, fire.
It's kind of out of the noseand then like switch it up and
get water and that's when youfinally beat his ass do you
think that would actually happen, though a hose like that dude?
I didn't think flamethrowerscould do it like that.
(26:23):
They were like showing flameballs yeah, like punching it or
whatever yeah, that was likefucking hella flames.
I'm so used to seeing like theolder ones, like in older movies
, like where she's only three orfour feet in front of you oh
wait, once upon a time inhollywood, when they have that
yeah I love that scene.
I love they're making a sequelto that, are they really?
Speaker 3 (26:42):
yeah, hell yeah, I'll
, I'll do the brad pitt's
already signed on thing to do it, it Nice.
Yeah, I like that movie.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Yeah, going back to
the movie.
Actually, I want to go throughthe characters a little bit more
.
Ian McShane Winston he comesback twice in this movie, once
as a younger version of himself.
I thought that was so stupid.
I don't think they triedde-aging him at all, you just
dyed his hair.
He looks exactly the same, ifnot older than his version now
yeah, I agree.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
I agree, but he is
one of my favorite characters
well, him and um no, what's theconcierge name?
The black guy oh yeah, wait, no, that's what I'm thinking of
lance.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
He plays char charon,
charon yeah didn't he just pass
away recently?
I think so yeah that's all Ithought about when I seen that,
which is good, sweet and stufflike that.
Uh, the director ballerina, theone who's like the mistress in
the beginning I don't know, it'snot the actress I don't like.
(27:40):
I just don't like the character.
The main lady yeah, no, not thedirector, the one, the older
lady who training them yeah, yeah, I mean the organizer.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah, you don't, you
don't like her, no, to me it's
just like she's no, not thedirector.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
The one, the older
lady who's training them.
Yeah, the main organizer.
Yeah, you don't.
You don't like her.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
No, To me it's just
like she's like full, so full of
herself, which I mean it's thewhole thing about the character,
but Well, have you ever takenballet classes?
Probably not, but my balletteacher, they're all mean.
Yeah, why do you think like?
They think female assassinationis associated with ballerinas?
The discipline that you have todo for dancing in a ballet.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
That's what.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
I was thinking the
discipline.
That shit is hard.
You can't even do point untilyou've reached past level three
in ballet.
Yeah.
And then you have to train yourcalves to do point, and it is
Like you saw our toes.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Yeah, bleeding.
It is hard on your toes, yourfeet, your calves, everything
see the biggest reason why Ithink I've never got into sports
or been athletic.
But someone go again.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
It's like, nah, I'm
good I did ballet and tap when I
was a kid.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
For years almost to
the point where I and tap
dancing.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Yep, you usually do
two when you're like in a dance
class.
So I always chose ballet andtap.
I did clogging once.
Very weird, that is weird, veryweird.
It's tap shoes but one is loose, so you clog with it and you
shuffle ball chain and it justlooks weird.
So ballet was my thing for sure, and then I did like tennis and
(29:06):
crap like that.
But yeah, yeah, ballet was mything for sure, and then I did
like tennis and crap like that.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
But yeah, yeah, I
just talked to my dad, Like he
brought up like the other day, like I mean I've always did
karate for like a day or two.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Oh, I only did karate
for like a week.
And I went on a trip with myparents and they wouldn't let me
come back to the class becauseI missed too much.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
I don't think it's
possible for an American to be
good at karate.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I for an American to
be good at karate.
I kind of want to go take aself-defense class.
I kind of want to fight theballerina in this movie Dude.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I think stuff like
that spikes up heavily after one
of these movies Dude.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
I want to I think I
can handle my own, I'm a good
shooter.
My dad was a sharpshooter inthe army.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
He taught me from the
time I was a kid.
But yeah, you're shooting.
Good, I'm sure it's juststanding still, though this
chick is like flipping and doingall that kind of stuff.
I know I want to be that good.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Yeah, I want to try
one of those when they were
doing the kind of like cops dothey go through the rooms and
they're having their guns andthey shoot people.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
You want to be SWAT.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Yeah, whatever it is,
I want to do that.
Cltm 6?
I want Do they have a placelike that.
I don't know, I have no ideawhere you go to learn.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
I don't want to do
paintballing, I have no idea how
to get in that world.
I was like, yeah, I can showyou where you go with karate.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
I need to ask some of
my cop friends Someone take me
to like a camp or something.
I just want to see if I can gothrough a house and not get shot
.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
That's some serious
training.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
And now you're can do
anything I put my mind to okay
and if it's something cool likethat.
I can do it.
My back does hurt, though, alot of the times I gotta take
special medication I'm 30 nowyeah, um.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
No, like I don't know
, I just had to go through some
serious training as john wickjohn wick is actually a producer
on this movie, not john wickkiana reese is the producer on
this movie and I'm sure he hadto do a lot with her suggestions
of training and stuff like thattoo.
Yeah, um, I'm sure, like it's abig thing now that stunts are
going to go into the oscars nowthey're finally starting next
year, I believe.
(31:00):
Do you think this movie haswhat it takes to be qualified in
the ranking already?
yeah, with the flamethrowing andstuff those stunt people
deserve a an award okay or in anomination at least, or
something I'm trying to think oflike other big movies coming
out with stunt work.
I mean you have the, obviously, the marvel movies, but they
never get nominated um f1.
(31:20):
Maybe, if you consider thedriving the stunt, which I'm
sure they should, um yeah, orsome other big movies, action
movies too, but I don't knowjust like they could be, it
could be I think it's a greatidea.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
What was that movie
that came out about stunt?
The fall guy yes, I love thatmovie yeah that made me
appreciate those stunt peoplethat you never think of in the
movies, like then.
It made me appreciate, likewhat they actually go through
and we need to recognize that alittle bit more wild.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
That has never been
in the category.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Yeah, I agree because
we need to recognize them.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
They put their lives
out there there was even like a
reference to original um stuntworking, like in this movie,
like when she was accidentallyclicking through the channels,
and they were old stunt workfrom back in like in the early
days, like black and white TV.
That was pretty cool.
A lot of the cool things wereon the nose yeah, a little bit.
There's no subtle meanings, alot of things me.
(32:18):
I felt like Lena plays hersister.
She was cool in this movie.
You know what I'm talking about, yeah, the cult girl yeah yeah,
she was part of the cult, youguys.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Yeah, she kills her
though, or no?
Speaker 1 (32:35):
she doesn't get
killed, she.
She was kind of relieved to seeher find out she was alive and
thinking like yeah, come on, sis, come on over, I missed you or
whatever yeah, now we could bein this cult together, the house
house gets blown up.
Yeah, and I've told you afterwe walked out of the movie
there's no way her character isnot deaf With all these
explosions.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
All the grenades and
stuff being right behind the
door or the table.
I'm like it hurts my ears.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
All it takes is a
simple two second scene to show
her putting earplugs orsomething in, and I would have
more likely to believe that.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I had one of those oh
, what plugs or something in,
and I would have more likely tobelieve that I had one of those
oh, what are those m80s is thatwhat people used to have, like I
don't know, and you, you throwthem or whatever, and they're
loud as shit.
Oh, okay, wait, I think that'swhat they're called.
Okay, anyways, one of myfriends had this in high school
okay, we were on a country road,we were in a car and they threw
it out the window.
But we were stopped, okay, because someone was taking a
(33:28):
piss and threw it out into thefield and it was so loud my
right ear drum was ringing forlike three hours after that
thing went off it's not like afirework or anything, it just
literally blows.
You're not supposed to have them.
That's some michigan city stuff, dude.
I didn't grow up in michigancity, I was in valpo and this
was in valpo, but still, yeah, Ihung out with some questionable
(33:50):
people, for sure, but yeah, that girl should have been deaf
no doubt about it first grenadeyeah, we talked about how her
fighting style is a lotdifferent than which is guns.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Um, yeah, she likes
grenades and the choreography
was great with these grenadeslike that's only one of my
favorite kills in the wholemovie was like her going through
that tunnel at the gun shopwith the grenades.
That was my favorite that wasmy favorite scene too, like
fighting scene, yeah, but alsoevery single room in this whole
movie had at least like threepoints of entry.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
No, three points of
entry and staircases going up or
downstairs well, it was asecret like back room of his gun
shop.
And that's why she grabbedgrenades because everything
didn't have ammo in it.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
We're talking about
like also in the club scenes.
Oh yeah, and then also thewhole town, like every single
house they went into had likehad grenades?
No, not.
Also grenades yeah.
We're talking about like easyentrances, like staircases and
like so many ways you can hideand stuff stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
I was like no, the
first house like when she was a
kid, that was cool.
I want a castle like that, withsecret entrances and hideaways,
and also like cool.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
I mean the big
spoiler at the end, like she's
the cult leader's granddaughterand her actual dad kidnaps her,
trying to take her away becausehe's married into the family.
He's not really attached tothem too much, um why, the first
place would you go is back toyour house.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Right.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
You know like you're
running from this cult leader
and obviously you know they havemen, disposable men, that just
come up out of the water.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
That was creepy he
was very good at like fighting.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
I enjoyed his scene
too.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
There, I like the
cult people, like fighting.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Those are good scenes
, man.
Yeah, ruthless john wick comesand you see his fighting style
immediately.
It's always like grab a suitjacket and cover his face.
I wish they put more that intothe his movies, like he's the
only one that does that I wishshe would have looked at him and
been like where do I get thatright?
Speaker 3 (35:39):
like I needed that in
that movie because she was
getting her ass kicked and shecould have like.
I think she noticed in one ofthe scenes I think yeah, there
was a moment that I saw that shelooked at that and was kind of
questioning.
It looked like she was likewhat the fuck?
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
I mean, yeah, she did
get beat the shit out of her a
lot.
Like I said, it's also anorigin story.
She's very, very new to thegame on the field.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
I would have loved if
she would have just looked at
him and been like where do I getone of these jackets?
Speaker 1 (36:09):
yeah, something I'm
sure by the second movie she's
she's got a lot more skill andconnections, so maybe she'll get
something like that yeah, Ineed more, I need more yeah, I
want to be I need her to becomemore of a badass now and do more
action stuff on her.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
No more john wick
with her, just her doing it.
He doesn't even have to beincluded at all.
She can kill the other bad guys.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
There is a guy who
plays a shopkeep, the gun store
owner?
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, I liked him.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Dude, I guarantee you
he's going to be back.
And he's going to be, the newperson connecting all these
other people, like he's going tobe the new Winston, almost.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm sure someone inanother movie's gonna come to
him by his shops too, like oh,that's that guy, you know yeah,
or I hope so.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
I like his vibe, the
way he talked and stuff and like
kept the conversation to aminimum until all that crap
started happening, and he's likeyou know what.
On second thought, here here'sa map like I don't want my shop
to be.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Yeah so either he's
gonna be back in other movies
and hers or it might be juststrictly hers.
He might be her new Winston, yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
She's like, oh,
you're back again, you're onto
something like that I gotsomething new for you this time,
or something like that.
You're onto something with thatone.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
Yeah, and that's cool
.
I wish I had seen him in actiona little bit more.
He.
But he gets shot and goes hidesaway immediately.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Well, he's just a
seller.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
That would be sick to
see him as a cool.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
He had nice hands too
.
He got shot in his hand.
I saw him.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yeah, he's going to
be a cool recurring character.
He will, and it does set upvery well if you really want
sequels, because now the wholeHer clan I can't remember her
name, the Ruska Romas Going toher clan I can't remember her
name.
Uh, the rusca romas gonna go towar with these occult people.
Now, if there's any people left, they kill almost everybody in
(37:53):
town it looks like yeah so Imean, that's a possible sequel.
Would you watch this movieagain in theaters?
Speaker 3 (37:59):
wait, do you think
that the cult people, even
though their master, main guy, whatever, whatever you call them
died, do you think they'regonna come after?
Speaker 1 (38:08):
them yeah really you
do.
You think they're going to comeafter them.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Yeah, really, you
don't think they're all going to
be like fuck it.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Not because I think
that's the best move.
I just don't think the studiocoming up with anything better
than that.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
True, you're right.
You're right.
What did you ask me?
Sorry.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
What would you watch
this movie again in theaters?
Speaker 3 (38:26):
I'm going to, not in
theaters.
No, I would not go back to.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Are you going to go
back to the movie and watch it?
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Okay, no, I'm going
to wait, though, and I'm going
to watch it with Jacob when itcomes out at home, because he
likes all the John Wick, so Ican't have him miss it.
But I even told him.
I was like, honestly, honey, because I got home that night he
got home from work late I waslike, honestly, we'll just wait
I mean we don't have to go backand see it together.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
I'm glad I watched
the movie me too.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
No, I am, because I
do like action movies in the
theaters, like you said yeahthis is one where I'm like me.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
I probably would not
watch this movie again until the
next john wick movie comes out,or one of the movies.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Yeah, just to like
refresh myself, which I like to
do exactly, and I'm glad Iwatched a recap of all the john
wick movies before I sawBallerina.
Like I watched it on YouTubebefore I went.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
I feel like I just
did John Wick last year, but
it's been two years since JohnWick came out.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
The fourth one.
That's pretty insane.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
And I really liked
that movie too, but I'd never
watch it again after thattheater.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Me too, Because Jacob
and I went to the theater and
saw that one.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Yeah, what would you
give this movie?
Speaker 3 (39:30):
one out of ten.
By the way, john wick is alsoin fortnight.
Oh, he just was in fortnighttoo.
I would give it.
I could give a 5.5.
It has potential out of 10.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Yeah, that's pretty
mid.
That's very it is mid.
I was gonna give it I walkedout of there robert, and I was
like meh, there was.
I mean, I literally lookedstraight at anthony was like
yeah one of my favorite shots is, like I wish I did long shots
like like one continuous shot, like fighting scenes.
Yeah, those are extremely hardto pull off, which I don't blame
for not wanting to do, but oneof the cool shots I liked is
(39:55):
when she's coming down from oneof the clubs.
Wait, I hate these club scenesso much.
I know they think they lookcool, but obviously no one's
going to say anything when thesepeople get murdered around them
.
For real.
Yeah, but one of my favoritescenes is her walking outside,
getting into the car likewalking past all the dead people
that she killed already and noone's saying anything or doing.
Well, not that like I liked how.
Like yeah, she just took outall these people and then she
(40:17):
drives away in a car, but a carimmediately gets hit by another
car attacking her right away.
That was a cool, pretty coolyeah, I needed more of that.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Yeah, just back to
back action a little bit, yeah,
because then it kind of dies outfor like a few more minutes and
then it's like okay, now whatare we going back to?
It's kind of a little choppy alittle bit more.
I want a little bit morecreativity, but like you, said
origin movie, so it's mid, it'sjust mid I still am gonna watch
the other john wick movies whenthey come out yeah, definitely
(40:46):
um man, I said john.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
John Wick 5 is coming
out.
They're going to get a what's.
I can't remember Kane, hissequel or his own spinoff movie.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
When is that coming
out?
Speaker 1 (40:57):
It's been announced,
but I doubt.
I haven't heard anything aboutproduction Fucking eight years
from now.
Could be.
He's a blind guy too.
That should be interesting.
Great movie in theaters, um.
Great movie in theaters.
Six, I guess six, out of ten.
He said 5.5, very missed, I'lltake it as it is.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
If you're a big fan
of john wick, definitely see it.
See it.
If you are a fan, you have to.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
It has potential yeah
, yeah, this is that movie was
not enough for me to like.
Honor their armors, though notme either.
Nothing to write home about uh,let's go back into 2011, though.
Talk about the movie hannahthat came out.
It's about a 16 year old girl, who was raised by her father to
be a perfect assassin, isdispatched on a mission across
(41:40):
europe, tracked by a ruthlessintelligence agent and her
operatives.
I watched this movie.
I was like, after watching thismovie, then Ballerina and also
the Thunderbolts movie, I waslike these female assassin
stories are almost all the same.
They're trained from a veryyoung age because they were
(42:01):
forced into this world, and Iwas like I'm just over this plot
line at this point watchingthis movie.
That's why I think I gave it alittle bit lower score.
If I'd have watched it in 2011,I might have liked it a little
bit better.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Yeah, I liked it a
lot back in the day.
It was a good action movie andshe was younger.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Well, yeah, the
actress who plays her is Sororze
Ronan, If I'm saying thatcorrect.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
That's kind of weird
spelling she was the girl in the
Lovely Bones with Mark Wahlberg.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Never seen it, that's
a great movie You've never seen
it.
It makes me cry Never seen it.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
It's a good one.
Dad loses her daughter, shecomes back to help him find her
killer, and it's her the onethat plays in Hannah.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
You know what this is
like random thought, you know
like there's like a ton ofmovies.
People coming back from war andand like losing their shit with
their family or something likethat.
Yeah, you never see a womancoming home in those movies.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
You know what I'm
talking about.
Yeah, and there's women'sshoulder, right shoulder
soldiers.
Words are pretty hard, can't?
Speaker 1 (43:01):
talk it's sunday
hungover, yeah, but yeah, I'm
surprised there hasn't been onelike that too yeah, yeah, I need
more women action movies um.
Sarah the ronin's in this, kateblanchett's in this movie, eric
banna I knew eric banna but I Ididn't know it was him in this
movie.
Like how the fuck do I know?
Speaker 3 (43:20):
especially in the
beginning when he has that long
hair, oh yeah, and beard, andthen you see him get out of the
water and he's all clean, shavenand stuff.
He looks so different yeah, like these.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
These made this guy
have a glow up for like no
reason this whole movie.
I liked it though, yeah, causehe looked odd with long hair.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
Like.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
I think he had like a
bun or some point.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Yeah, Very uh, woody
woodsy.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
Yeah, this movie was
definitely shot on a lower
budget.
I could tell then, obviously, that John wick Cause I think it
was like a hundred millionbudget.
This one had like a lot ofdifferent sceneries and stuff
like that.
I'm glad of it, but like justthe style of shooting it, what
we felt.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
I just thought it was
so cool A girl that grew up in
the woods, having nothing likeliterally nothing but the land
and hunting.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
Yeah, there's going
to be plot holes with that, I
feel like later in the movie.
And hunting yeah, there's goingto be plot holes with that, I
feel like later in the movie.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Because all of a
sudden, she knows how to work
the computer.
Well, he had things in thecabin.
No, he didn't.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
She was so out of the
norm with everything she didn't
know how TV worked.
True.
She didn't know how cars workedeither.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
The fan light kind of
creeped her out a little bit,
she was impressed when the guyturned on the light switch
because he goes is thiselectricity?
There's no way he had acomputer there's no way she read
a lot, though like she retainedall that information, like she
read about kissing, but she onlyread like facts about like the
muscles of kissing.
So when she got kissed by thatboy and like freaked out, she
(44:41):
had no idea what to what wasgonna come of it, man.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
What a crazy ass day
she had I know like escaping
from this prison and likediscovering a whole new world
with electricity and otherpeople.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
She was made in a lab
.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Her blood was like
yeah and then also like having
your first kiss and everythinglike that, like what an intense
day for her dude yeah, that's.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
That's why I think I
liked it so much.
It just showed like her justgoing through all of these
things in a short period of timeand then she finally gets to
kill the lady.
Oh, and then the first scene, what she says with the deer is
what she says to the lady whichwas?
I just missed your heart.
Yeah.
And then bam right in the head.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
I mean the opening
scene was pretty wild.
I saw it open her killing adeer.
Just how stone cold she is,though, and she's like I just,
and you see her going throughthis training and, like the dad,
like being very involved andlike teaching, maintaining, like
teaching her, like specificsyeah he does come off as a dick,
but you can tell he's doing itbecause, like, I'm really trying
to prepare you.
Yeah, I was like finally, a kidnot on her ipad.
(45:42):
Yeah, actually, another fatheractually involved in doing shit
like that.
It's like can you imagine likethe micro, like where I would be
at my dad was not top of me,like that dude I wish I would
have learned how to fight.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
I'm gonna do some
self-defense classes yeah, okay,
okay, cool beans, um.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
And then the day
finally comes when she decides
like I'm tired of living in here, dude I gotta get the fuck out.
And then she leaves, and healso leaves.
He was like all right if tiredof living in here, dude, I gotta
get the fuck out.
And then she leaves, and healso leaves too.
He's like alright, if you gottaleave, that means I gotta
fucking go back to work.
And he's kind of like a what doyou say?
Betrayer In this company, thiscompany.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
By stealing her
Because she was creating the lab
and running away.
And the reason he was trainingher, because he knew one day
they were going to come for herand try to kill her, because all
her other peers, or whateveryou want to call them, were
killed.
Eric Bana as an actor, I lovehim so much in this movie I did
buy him.
I liked him a lot in this film.
Actually, he was pretty good.
Um, I wish he had a coolerfight scene.
(46:43):
Well, his fighting was prettycool.
I should say in this one, thethird act scene where he
actually gets the fight when hefinally dies, I thought it was a
little bit cooler.
He's, he's timing people up inan unrealistic fashion on the
swing set.
I know I was like.
And then he like, when he getsshot, he's standing a good like
20 feet to the right than whathe was before and that fight is
(47:03):
like what are we doing here?
Speaker 3 (47:06):
um, oh, the scene,
though, where she's in the
prison and shoots all of thosecameras out that was pretty cool
oh, that's the best.
And that lady, flinching likeshe never like, she does not
like death, like the redheaded, what's her name in the movie?
Cute blanchard plays marissamarissa, marissa wiegler yeah,
(47:27):
she's, yeah, she does not likedeath, she doesn't want to be
near it, she flinches at it andeven when they do the flashback
of like um, her mom dyinghannah's mom dying.
She like didn't even want tolike look at the dead bodies, or
whatever she.
You can just tell she doesn'tlike death, it scares her but
she like controls.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
She's a control freak
part of the reason I didn't
like her.
I mean, like I feel like ittook us forever to find out her
motive in this movie, becausethe whole time you just get like
why the fuck is she sointerested in this little girl?
You think at one point thatshe's her mother and I think she
wanted it to be her child.
It was supposed to be orsomething it was weird, like her
relationship with her, what herbeef was really with her
(48:10):
because I don't think she was.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Hannah's mom was
supposed to keep the baby.
I think she was supposed togive it to marissa.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
It could be, and
that's probably why her and um
her dad got in that accidentyeah, yeah, um, because marissa
killed her.
Yeah, how about the other chick, the little friends in this
movie and the rv family?
She was a hoot.
She was weird like I.
This girl was like I feel, liketoo old for her, yeah, age for
(48:36):
sure getting into some crazystuff I mean, I feel like I can
totally tell like a middle-agedman wrote for this girl.
Yeah, it's kind of creepy kindof.
Yeah, because like she was like, almost like she was trying to
like to me, I felt like fellykelly from the office yeah like
her a little bit just trying tobe crazy and out there and do
(48:59):
what she could, can.
She's young yeah young and dumb, yeah, go get into some trouble
do you think, do you, did youlike them as involved, as it
were, the friends?
Speaker 3 (49:09):
yeah I thought it was
cute that hannah got to see a
girl her age and how a normalteenager was yeah, I guess it's
kind of true, you know justbeing crazy and like doing stuff
that you're not supposed to bedoing because you're a kid the
whole family was kind of wild, like even the parents, yeah
they're hippies, yeah, yeah notsurprising me hippies who were
(49:30):
just like so willing to drivearound this little girl I went
on road trips with my parentsevery summer, but they went, no,
no like picking up this littlegirl and like yeah, they do ask
like where's your?
Speaker 1 (49:40):
dad at yeah but they
don't seem as concerned as they
should be exactly.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
Well, kids in europe
they travel all summer long on
trains and stuff.
They study abroad and parentsjust kind of let them go in
Europe.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
Can it be me?
Can it be me.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
No, we were raised in
the United States, Like what?
Speaker 1 (50:00):
I had a good time
watching this movie.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
Good, I'm glad I got
you to watch it.
Now you need to watch theLovely Bones.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
The Lovely Bones.
Okay With.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
Mark Wahlberg.
That's a good one.
Yeah, same girl.
They also did the remake withtimothy chalamet, the little
women movie.
Kirsten dunst did a remake ofit too, before this one with
timothy chalamet and stuff, andflorence pew is in it oh, I did
see.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
I didn't see it, but
I remember it came out.
That's what she has the flowercrown or something like that
yeah, yeah, no flower crowns.
A different movie it was po,but oh, I have no little women.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
It's a.
You probably watched it in highschool, the original one maybe.
Okay.
Well, maybe I know more aboutmovies than you, maybe you do, I
don't um, hannah was a greatmovie.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
I wish I would have
seen it in theaters, because
this movie, like definitelyseems like it was made for the
movie theaters I think, Iwatched most of it on my phone,
probably the way you shouldn'tbe doing it.
I mean I can't say anything.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
I watched on my ipad,
yeah, while I was cleaning my
house, but I've seen this movielike I swear.
I probably seen this movie 10times back in the day really if
I couldn't find anything else towatch, I would watch that movie
.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
I feel like if I were
to go back and watch this, I
don't think I would.
I don't think I would findanything new about this movie.
Like you know how you pick upmore information the more you
watch it.
I don't think so.
You know who kind of likecringed me out?
Was that clown the clown?
Speaker 3 (51:24):
Or the guy the Bond
guy, the guy the performer.
Speaker 1 (51:27):
No, no, no, the guy
at the end who hides her for a
little bit at the meetup point.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
Oh yeah To me.
Speaker 1 (51:32):
I feel like that's
what Joaquin Phoenix bases Joker
on.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
Ooh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:38):
Yeah, it's exactly
the same Like how they act as
clowns.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
Do you like the
whistling?
Speaker 1 (51:44):
No, that's kind of
weird.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
I kind of like it.
It's creepy, wasn't that thatsong from snow white that she
was singing?
No, what is that song?
Look it up.
I need to know before we go wehave to know.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
I need to search the
here.
I got it.
No, but that was kind of weirdquirk that they just had with
the whistling, though, and theway she gets killed, like on
that train tracks, the, the um,the villain in this movie
devil's in the details rightwait I don't think that was it.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
Yeah, oh, there we go
yeah and then he walks around
whistling that later on, whenthey're trying to search for her
at that um park, abandoned park, amusement park type thing he's
whistling it trying to find her.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
There's other scenes.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
He's creepy maybe I
like creepy movies.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
I think you do uh,
what movies are coming out?
All right, what would you get?
This movie, one out of ten.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
Like an eight, eight
and a half.
Speaker 1 (52:54):
You like this movie
better than Ballerino.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
Yeah, I liked it
because, well, maybe I like it
so much because I liked it somuch, you know, 14 years ago.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Yeah, I think I like
Ballerino better, but this is
pretty decent.
I'd probably give this one afive out of ten.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
Okay, alright, you
went lower on this one.
You like Ballerina better?
Speaker 1 (53:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
Alright, yeah, I feel
like we never agree in this
podcast, but I like it.
Speaker 1 (53:18):
That's the point of
being on it.
Yeah, we have to debate whatmovies are coming out soon that
you want to go see.
I still see lilo and stitch.
I know it already came out, butI need to go see that.
Yeah, that's all right.
Um, what movies are coming outthis year?
We see the trailer.
That one trailer we do it towatch was the long walk the
stephen king movie.
Speaker 3 (53:36):
I think I talked
about this podcast, oh yeah yeah
, that looks really good.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
Uh, f1 is coming out
very soon.
Next week is the live actionhow to train your dragon um
probably won't see it, I'm beinghonest, obviously superman
fantastic avatar is coming outright then, like in december.
Speaker 3 (53:51):
Oh, that's like the
end of the year.
Yeah, oh, freaky friday too.
When's that coming out?
Speaker 1 (53:56):
here friday.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
That looks kind of
lame to me okay, but I was a
girl that grew up in this era.
Speaker 1 (54:01):
I have to go see it
number two I love it, but it
doesn't look like it's gonna beas good when does this come out?
Speaker 3 (54:07):
it probably like
thanksgiving or something
Freakier Friday yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
I want to say October
.
Maybe it's definitely towardsthe second episode.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
Ooh, Austin Butler's
in a movie Caught Stealing
that's coming out this year.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
He's coming out with
a lot of movies this year.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
I just like the way
he looks.
He's nice to look at, look at.
I liked them in the outsiders alot.
Oh, I just watched that.
That's a great movie I it wason apple or something the other
day and I saw it for free andI'm like I wanted to watch this.
That's such a bad still tryingto get my motorcycle if anybody
wants to donate to hannah yeah, sure, good luck with that, I
know right, you think my mom'sgonna listen, like there's only
(54:43):
four people who listen, whateveryou can try
yeah for sale.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Let me know next week
is a live action of how to
train a dragon on the podcast.
But I don't.
I'm tired of live action movies.
A lot of us are.
So I mean, after that f1'scoming out this this month, it's
going to be really good umhonestly, I probably won't go to
the movies for a little bitpedro pas and Chris Evans has a
new rom-com coming out this week.
(55:11):
Actually, what is it?
The Materialist?
Materialist, what's her name?
I cannot remember her name, butshe plays this person who sets
up people to meet couples andstuff like that, and she has a
boyfriend that is played bychris evans who's kind of like
it's just an asshole oh, what'sher nuts?
Speaker 3 (55:33):
uh, what is her name?
Why can't I think of it?
Speaker 1 (55:35):
with the bang she was
in dakota johnson yeah, I don't
like her why, she wasn't whatthat's that um 21 shades of 50
shades of gray 50 yeah and thenshe's also in.
Um, miss, madame webb, thatmovie sucked ass because of her.
Yeah honestly hated that movie.
It did Shades of Grey.
And then she's also in, madameWeb, that movie sucked ass yeah,
honestly hated that movie.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
It did kind of ruin
her a little bit but anyways,
chris Evans plays her trashyboyfriend.
Speaker 1 (55:59):
She leaves him.
She meets Pedro Pascal dude.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
I love Maren Ireland.
She plays Violet in this movie.
She is in the show Dope Thiefon Apple.
Tv, that's on my watch listthough.
Great show, watch it.
Great actress, I like her a lot.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Yeah, that's coming
out next week, so I might go
watch that in the movies.
Um, hannah, thank you so muchfor coming on the podcast thanks
for having me we got like twomore episodes before the big
announcements coming up, sowe'll have to plan some point
for you to come back on too.
Yeah, and also like peoplelistening who've been on the
podcast, I I do plan on havingsomething with everybody just to
(56:40):
come by and chill, watch movies, maybe get a couple of drinks.
So heck.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
Yeah, we gotta do it
this summer yeah, yeah, um but
thanks for having me.
I enjoy doing this.
Yeah, I'll tell you, make me goto the movies and I like it
yeah, shout out anthony andarmani too, coming with us too

All right, bye.
