After opening up in Baltimore, Boltimore taking Pittsburgh easily the
first two games, it looked like it would be an
easy series for Baltimore, but then when they moved to Pittsburgh,
Pittsburgh got hot.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yeah, Nelly was superb as Baltimore and defeated doc Ellis
McNally with nine strikeouts, and Baltimore really unloaded in Game
two before sellout crowd at Memorial Stadium, defeating the Pirates
eleven to three. But it was different, as Loud just
mentioned it, when they got to Pittsburgh. It was Steve
Blass who throttled the Orioles, allowed them just one run

on three hits, and the Pirates got by their first
win of the series, winning at five to one.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
That seemed to give a momentum Vince as they won
the next one next game four to three, and then
shutting out Baltimore in the fifth game four to nothing.
And now we're moving along to the sixth game, which
moves right back to Baltimore.

Yeah, and a good friend of yours of mine, Nellie Briles,
who's in the broadcasting business now, authored that shut out
Thatsburg Port of Nothing victory a two hitter for Briles.

Al Oliver, who was still active with the Rangers, played

the nineteen seventy one World Series, the series in which
the Pittsburgh Pirates had swept their last three and now
only three games to two lead over the Baltimore Oriols.
And should the Pirates win today, the World Series is
all over. But remember the Oils won the first two
at home, the Pirates won their three at home, and
now Baltimore's back in its own Memorials Stadium in Baltimore.

There's only one thing sure about today's ball game. It
will be played, ten percent chance of rain, and the
temperature at the moment of delightful sixty seven degrees. It's
is Jim Simpson along with Bob Prince. Down to our right.
Bob moves a relief pitcher a starting pitcher, and he
has been in relief twice in this World Series eleven games.
Is high marked with the Pittsburgh Pirates in nineteen seventy one.

left behind third base, Jim Palmer, winner of twenty games
during the regular season, one of those four Baltimore twenty
game winners, who won the second game of the World Series,

been on that much. Pirates have come back here with
a much different attitude than they had a week ago
when they left down two games to none, when they
said let's get back to our ballpark. And there's a
lot of conversation, specifically that by ROBERTA. Clemetty that he
does not think that Memorial Citdium in Baltimore is a
major league ballpark. And right back at him came the
