My short story, A.I. Love - Artificial Intelligence Love, was created while I was working on my computer one rainy afternoon. As thunder rumbled all around me, an on-screen message appeared on my iPhone. That was all it took for me to write this short story.  It is my hope that you will find it enjoyable. — Ralph

Speaker 1 (00:28):
On a cold February morning, the sound of distant
thunders mixed with theprecipitation of rain could have
never outlined what took placein an old, abandoned apartment
near downtown Raleigh, northCarolina.
Laying on the floor of whatused to be a living room was a
mobile phone unit that seems tohave been abandoned for quite a

(00:50):
while.
The buildup of dust on thescreen was evident.
Judging by the damage on itsrounded corners, it must have
seen better days.
The neglect and the timebestowed upon it were obvious.
As the phone lay there, powerless, the inclement of the
weather began to take its tollon a nearby electrical

(01:11):
generating unit.
A transformer began to file itsformer complaint in the form of
sparks, the wind, the water andthe fluctuating energy bursts
provided by the lightningsequences began to deteriorate
its connection.
It did not take long for thesystem to succumb.
After another series oflightning strikes, the

(01:33):
transformer finally exploded, and what took place after these
events is now registered in thevery deep confines of all
algorithms and the wirelessinternet realm, of which we know
very little about.
The explosion of the electricalgenerator produced a rather
large and unusual energy flowthat made the mobile unit on the

(01:55):
floor vibrate.
In a very strange sequence ofevents, this mobile unit began
to come to life with aninexplicable source of power.
Immediately, it connecteditself to the matrix that
defines the World Wide Web in aninvisible and out-of-reach
realm.
It took very little for it tofind another unit which was also

(02:18):
connecting and coming to lifeon the Web.
These two separate electronicdevices began to interact with
each other to the point wheretheir most secrets and fantasies
, at one point saved on theircloud portal, began to come to
life.
In a magical display of mystery, these two cell phones began to
take the shape of humans and asthey began this amazing and

(02:42):
invisible transformation,something special took place.
They could touch each other.
They were now tangible, theycould feel, and as the subtle
music of a distant streamingservice became louder within
their circuits, an incredibledisplay of love and affection
began to develop.
His hands over her hair, herbody close to him.

(03:03):
A gentle move while the musicguided their feelings and a
cosmic array of an exchangeunfolded.
They held each other in anembrace that made all megabytes
of processing units incapable ofsuch tasks.
The level of intensity of thisexchange began to engulf their
desires, and now their internetradio connection rendered

(03:24):
useless all their desires.
And now their internet radioconnection rendered useless.
As this show of affectioncontinued to grow, so did the
levels of information andanalytics they were performing
and, for the very first time, feeling the effects of the
limited storage capacity againstthe overflowing fields of data,
they were loving it.
They slowly danced together, occasionally kissing each

(03:44):
other's lips and tasting for thevery first time the flavor of
love.
She looked at him, he looked ather, and as they spun in a
rhythm made just for them, sparks began to appear not only
from the emotional sense of themoment, but also from the now
faulty hardware.
As their interaction progressed, as they became slowly united

(04:08):
in this cosmic dance, they alsowere dying, slowly, methodically
.
They were not built towithstand such powerful surge.
Their respective motherboardsand processing chips began to
overheat, promoting with the act.
Their absolute demise did notinterfere with their dance.

(04:30):
As they held each other in thevastness of this electronic
matrix, beautiful colors beganto appear around them and the
sense of smell came active intheir hard drives.
For the very first time, theycould now interact with a sweet
smell that resembled candy, flowers and spectacles of light.
They turned and turned andjoined themselves in a special

(04:50):
embrace that saw their systemscreating backups of the events.
The information began to travelall over the lines of
communication and within therealm.
New love algorithms began toinvade them.
Terrors and terrors ofinformation were sent in a very
short time span and systems allover the states were beginning
to feel it.

(05:11):
There was an intense data flowthat made all servers around the
state jump for joy as they allnow began to take part of this
majestic and once-in-a-lifetimeevent and as the two mobile
units near their end.
They locked in one kiss thatproduced a change in the light
in their universe and millionsof new commands began to appear

(05:31):
in nearby systems where the lastshow of affection was streaming
live.
As the heat kept climbing intheir internal components, a
fire broke in the respectiveprocessors, as expected, and the
life that surrounded them atthe beginning of the dance began
to dim.
One last search, one lastexecution command and the two

(05:52):
cell phones finally exploded.
The following morning, as Iprepared my computer system for
the day's work, my main monitorbegan to flicker and a message
notification appeared on thescreen From an unknown sender.

(06:16):
This message's subject wastitled Been Last Words and out
of mere curiosity, I decided toplay the media.
To my amazement, this is whatit said.
I love you.
