if you're a creative who resistsstructure because you don't

(00:03):
wanna lose your flow.
This one's for you.
In today's Thrivent five, I'mshowing you how to use time
blocking to support yourinspiration and not stifle it.
Welcome back to Thrive in Five, where I give you a quick burst
of motivation and productivityin five minutes or less.
I'm Cindy, your host, aself-made entrepreneur, busy

(00:25):
mom, and a business coach.
I've built and sold severaldigital businesses ranging from
five to six figure successes.
So when it comes to managingtime and priorities in both life
and work, I get it.
I've been there and I am here tohelp you thrive.
Let's talk about the myth thatstructure kills creativity.
If you're a writer, designer, content creator, coach, whatever

(00:48):
your version of creative lookslike.
You might avoid planning yourday too tightly because you want
to keep that freedom.
But here's what I've learned andlived without structure.
Your creativity can drown indistraction.
Ideas need space to breathe, butthey also need a container to
actually be, become something, and that's where time blocking

(01:09):
for creatives comes in.
It's not rigid, it's notrobotic.
It's a way to protect yourenergy so that it doesn't get
eaten up by endless tasks ordecision fatigue.
So here's how to structure yourday to work with that creative
flow.
Time block by energy, not justtask.
Ask yourself, when does yourcreativity peak?

(01:30):
Is it in the morning, the lateafternoon?
Block off that time for yourmost creative work and protect
it.
No meetings, no admin.
This turns your calendar into asupport system instead of a
checklist.
Give your creativity a warmup.
Don't expect to jump into deepcreative work, cold.
Start each block with a shortritual, like a playlist, a walk,

(01:53):
journaling, or rereading yourlast idea to get into that
creative flow.
Think of it like stretchingbefore a workout.
Your brain needs to transitioninto that create mode.
Build in buffer blocks.
Creativity can't be forced, butit can be nurtured.
Leave white space between focusblocks so that your brain can

(02:14):
wander and connect ideas.
This can be a 15 minute break oran entire creative thinking
block that isn't task based, just idea focused, this works
because time blocking helpscreative people focus without
pressure.
It creates boundaries aroundyour creative time so you're not
squeezing it in between Zoomcalls and grocery runs.

(02:35):
And when your schedule makesspace for the flow, you create
more and stress less Let's recaphow to time block in a way that
supports your creativity.
Block your day based upon yourenergy and not your tasks.
Start creative blocks with awarmup, ritual or routine.
Add buffer blocks to keep yourinspiration from feeling forced

(02:56):
your action steps to implementthis today is to identify your
most creative time of the dayand block it off for the rest of
the week.
Choose a creative warmup thatyou know will help you get into
the flow.
Add one buffer block into yourschedule to give ideas.
Room to breathe Structuredoesn't kill creativity.
Distraction does.
With the right rhythm, you canstay inspired and organized.
