(00:00):
Here's something nobody tellsyou when you start your business
journey.
The setbacks, they don't stopcoming.
But here's what I've learnedafter building and selling
multiple businesses, is thatentrepreneurs who succeed aren't
the ones who avoid challenges.
They're the ones who get reallygood at turning those challenges
into stepping stones.

(00:21):
Today we're diving into mysetback success method, and I
have to be honest with you, thisisn't about putting on a brave
face and pretending thatsetbacks don't hurt.
Because they do.
But what I've discovered is thatthere's actually gold hidden in
every single challenge, and I'mgonna show you exactly how to
find it.
Welcome back to Thrive in Five, where I give you a quick burst

(00:44):
of motivation and productivityin five minutes or less.
Spend just five minutes with meand you'll be ready to tackle
your day like a pro.
Whether you're focused on lifeor business.
I'm Cindy, your host, aself-made entrepreneur.
Busy mom and business coach,I've built and sold multiple
digital businesses ranging fromfive to six figure successes.

(01:06):
So when it comes to managingtime and priorities in both life
and work, I get it.
I've been there and I am here tohelp you thrive.
Can we be completely honest fora second?
When something goes wrong inyour business, maybe a launch
completely flops a client whofires you outta nowhere, or your
revenue takes an unexpectednosedive.

(01:28):
Your first instinct isn't tolook for the opportunity.
You feel like crud.
You question everything, and youstart wondering if you're really
cut out for this small businessowner life.
I see this all the time with theamazing women that I work with.
You are so hard on yourselves.
One setback hits and suddenlyyou're spiraling into I'm a

(01:52):
failure mode.
But here's what I wish thatsomeone had told me years ago.
Taking setbacks personally islike taking the weather
personally.
It's just not helpful, and itkeeps you stuck.
The real problem isn't thesetback itself, it's that we
were never taught how to processchallenges as anything other

(02:12):
than evidence that we are doingsomething wrong.
So here's something fascinatingthat I learned.
When a setback happens in yourbusiness, your brain literally
can't tell the differencebetween that and a physical
threat, that fight or flightresponse that you feel.
It's the same one that ourancestors had when facing actual
danger.
But here's where it gets reallyinteresting.

(02:34):
Successful entrepreneurs havelearned to interpret that
pattern.
So instead of staying in panicmode, they've trained themselves
to ask, what is this actuallyteaching me?
I used to think that justpositive thinking was fluff
until I experienced it myselfwhen one of my businesses first
launched, it was a completedisaster.

(02:55):
I'm talking about crickets.
Zero page views coming in.
Zero sales.
I felt like I was completelyembarrassed.
Truly, I was devastated.
But once I got past that initialsting, I realized that the
failure taught me more about myaudience and my messaging than
six months of market researchcould ever have told me.

(03:17):
So Here's the method that changeeverything.
For me, it's just three steps, but they are powerful.
Step one, feel it through phasefirst.
We're gonna feel our feelings Iknow, I know you wanna skip
straight to the solution, buttrying to bypass the emotional
part is like trying to drivewith the parking brake on.
Give yourself 24 hours to feeldisappointed, frustrated, and

(03:42):
scared.
Set a timer if you need to, buthonor the emotion first.
Step two is what I call thetreasure hunt.
This is where we become businessdetectives.
Every setback is carryinginformation.
We just need to extract it.
Ask yourself what worked in thissituation and what didn't?
What would you do differently?

(04:02):
If you could do it again, writeit down, because your brain will
try to forget the lessons whenall the emotion fades.
Step three, the opportunityflip.
So here is where I think themagic happens.
You look at your setback and youask.
How could this actually set meup for something better?
That client who ghosted youmight have freed up space for

(04:24):
your dream client.
That failed product launch mighthave revealed a totally
different market need.
The goal isn't to pretend thatthe setback was good.
It's to find the strategicadvantage that's hiding inside
of it.
So let's talk about making thisreal in your life right now.
So first thing, I create what Icall a learned lessons folder.

(04:48):
Every time you use this method, document what you discover.
I promise you this becomes likea personal business school that
gets more valuable over time.
Second, you need to practiceemotional regulation.
The faster you move from this isterrible to this is information,
the more power you have.
Here's something that mightsurprise you.

(05:08):
Share your setback stories withother entrepreneurs, not for
sympathy, but for perspective.
When you normalize setbacks aspart of the journey, they lose
the power to derail you.
Friend, I want you to know thatsetbacks in your business aren't
the evidence that you weren'tmeant for this.
They're the evidence that you'reactually doing something that
matters.
Every entrepreneur I know who'sbuilt something meaningful has a

(05:32):
collection of setback successstories.
Your current challenge isn't theuniverse trying to tell you to
quit.
It's preparing you for your nextlevel.
And when you see those setbacksas business intelligence instead
of business failures, you becomethe kind of entrepreneur who can
handle anything.
The resilience mindset isexactly what I help women

(05:54):
develop through my one-to-onecoaching and through my Growth
Collective Mastermind.
Because when you know how toturn any challenge into your
competitive advantage, there'sliterally nothing that can stop
you.
Now go find that gold in thechallenge and turn it into your
greatest comeback story yet.
And remember, you've got this.

(06:16):
