(00:00):
Can we just be honest for asecond?
I'm so tired of productivityadvice That sounds like it was
written by someone who's neveractually run a business or even
raised kids.
I know you know what I'm talkingabout.
The rise and grind mentalitythat tells you to work 18 hour
days and hustle until you drop.
What they don't tell you is thatyou can often get more done by
(00:21):
working smarter and not harder.
And today I am sharing my antihussle productivity plan that
has helped my clients grow theirbusiness without burning out.
Speaker (00:33):
Welcome back to Thrive
in Five, where I give you a
quick burst of motivation andproductivity in five minutes or
less.
I'm Cindy, your host, aself-made entrepreneur, busy
mom, and a business coach.
I've built and sold severaldigital businesses ranging from
five to six figure successes.
So when it comes to managingtime and priorities in both life
(00:55):
and work, I get it.
I've been there and I am here tohelp you thrive.
Let's talk about what hustleculture has done to us as
entrepreneurs.
Maybe you bought into the ideathat if you're not exhausted,
you're not working hard enough,or maybe you feel guilty for
taking breaks or saying no toopportunities.
(01:15):
Or maybe you're stuck in thecycle where you're always busy,
but you never really feel likeyou're making progress on what
matters most.
I see this all the time.
You are working yourself to thebone, checking every
productivity box, but you'restill feeling behind and
overwhelmed.
Here's what nobody talks about.
Hustle culture isn't justunsustainable.
(01:37):
It's actually making you lessproductive.
When you're constantly in fightor flight mode, your brain
cannot think strategically aboutwhat actually moves the needle
in your business.
The truth is sustainableproductivity.
Isn't about doing more, it'sactually about doing what
matters most with the energy youactually have.
(02:00):
So here's something fascinatingI learned that changed how I
think about productivity.
Your brain has two modes, survival mode and strategic
mode.
When you're constantly pushingyourself, telling yourself you
don't have time for breaks, yourbrain stays stuck in survival
mode.
In survival mode, everythingfeels urgent.
(02:21):
Nothing feels manageable, andyou end up spinning your wheels
on busy work.
When you give yourselfpermission to work sustainably,
to take breaks, to say no, tofocus on energy management
instead of just time management, your brain can shift into
strategic mode, and that's wherethe magic happens.
That's where you can see thebigger picture, prioritize what
(02:43):
actually matters, and makedecisions that move your
business forward.
I used to think that takingbreaks was lazy until I
realized.
That my best business ideasalways came when I was walking
my dog.
Relaxing in the bathtub orhaving coffee with a friend.
Rest isn't the opposite ofproductivity.
It's what makes realproductivity possible.
(03:06):
And here's my reality checkmethod for anti hussle
productivity.
That actually works.
Because as you know, I often sayyou've got this, which is true,
but sometimes you just need tofigure out what this actually is
without the pressure to doeverything.
So here's how we do that.
Step one, we're gonna audit ourenergy over our time.
(03:31):
We're throwing out the idea thatall hours are created equal.
Instead of tracking how youspend your time, I want you to
notice when you have high energyversus low energy.
For most entrepreneurs, you haveabout three to four hours of
peak mental energy per day.
Instead of filling those hourswith email and admin tasks,
(03:52):
protect your time for your mostimportant work.
Your needle moving activities, the ones that actually grow your
business.
Step two is the three priorityreality Check every day.
Instead of creating a massiveto-do list that makes you feel
like a failure, just choosethree priorities.
One, revenue generatingactivity, one business building
(04:15):
task, and one personal prioritythat supports your wellbeing.
When you limit yourself tothree, you're forced to reality
check what actually mattersversus what just feels
important.
Step three, build in strategicpauses.
This is where most productivityadvice gets it wrong.
They tell you to optimize everysingle minute, but I'm telling
(04:39):
you to intentionally createspace.
Schedule 15 minute breaksbetween deep work sessions.
Take a real lunch, go for a walkwhen you're stuck on a problem,
these aren't productivitykillers.
They are productivitymultipliers because they keep
your brain in strategic modeinstead of survival mode.
(04:59):
So let me give you somepractical tips to help make this
a reality in your real life.
First, start by saying no togood opportunities so that you
can say yes to great ones.
I know this feels scary, butwhen you're trying to do
everything, you end up doingnothing.
Well, your business needsfocused energy and not scattered
attention.
(05:20):
Second, redefine whatproductivity looks like to you.
Instead of measuring how busyyou are, measure how much
progress you make on whatactually matters.
Did you connect with thosepotential clients?
Did you create content thatserves your audience?
Did you work on systems thatwill save you time later?
That's real productivity.
(05:42):
Third, I want you to giveyourself permission to be human.
This might be the hardest one.
You don't need to be on 24 7.
You don't need to optimize everysingle moment.
You don't need to feel guiltyfor having energy dips or taking
time to recharge.
When you work with your naturalrhythms instead of against them,
(06:03):
you get much better results formuch less effort.
Here's what I want you toremember.
Productivity withoutsustainability isn't really
productivity.
It's just organized overwhelm.
The goal isn't to squeeze.
Every drop of energy out ofyourself.
The goal is to create asustainable success that you can
maintain for years and not justweeks.
(06:25):
You don't need to choose betweenbeing successful and being sane.
You don't need to sacrifice yourwellbeing for your business
goals.
When you implement the anti huleproductivity, you are not being
lazy.
You are being strategic andstrategic always beats grinding
in the long run.
This sustainable approach tobusiness building is exactly how
(06:46):
I help my entrepreneurs developas they move through my reality
check method and my dailysuccess framework.
Because when you reality checkwhat actually matters and work
with your energy instead ofagainst it, everything becomes
easier.
Now go give yourself permissionto succeed without burning out.
(07:07):
