Welcome to Season 4 of the Thrive Like a Mother podcast! After a summer of intentional rest and realignment, I'm sharing the powerful shifts that occurred when I finally allowed myself to rest without guilt—something that's your birthright, not a reward to be earned.

When my daughter asked if our family was rich, I realized a profound truth: true wealth comes from believing you're provided for in every way mind, body, and soul. Material things fade, but nurturing yourself creates a kind of wealth no one can take away.

This perspective became my foundation for a summer spent intentionally with family—exploring our neighborhood like tourists, celebrating eight years of marriage with my husband in Montreal, and partnering with local businesses to support other mothers.

My business also evolved alongside these personal transformations. After three successful rounds of Cook Like a Mother, I'm creating something deeper and more connected—a community where we continue growing together over time.

This season reflects this evolution with themes of intentional living, rooted presence, and expansion without burnout. We're no longer hustling to prove our worth; we're moving with purpose, letting joy lead, and reclaiming our voices one choice at a time.

Through solo episodes and powerful guest conversations, I hope each episode this season leaves you feeling lighter, more seen, and grounded in your journey.

As we enter the final quarter of the year, I'd love to hear what you're celebrating from this summer—share with me on Instagram! Remember, you are worthy, you are enough, and you absolutely deserve to thrive.

Thank you so much for listening in! If this episode spoke to you, it would mean the world to me if you left a review or shared it with a friend. And don’t forget to tag me so I can personally thank you for helping me spread the word.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, love, I'm Ebony and welcome to Thrive Like a
Mother On this podcast.
We're scared for our truth, butthat fear is what fuels us to
truly live in it.
You're in the right place ifyou feel like you're stuck in
survivor mode and you're readyto step into who you were truly

(00:20):
meant to be.
I'll share resources and toolsI use daily to help you in your
journey towards a healthiermindset and to break the wheel
of survival.
The journey may not be easy, but you won't have to face it
alone.
I'm a mama of three, healingday by day from past trauma, and
I'm on a mission to build alife I've always dreamed of but

(00:42):
never thought was possible.
So, love, if you're ready tobelieve in what's possible,
let's link arms and thrivetogether.
Hey, loves, and welcome toseason four yes, season four of

(01:04):
the Thrive Like a Mother podcast.
And y'all, it's been a minuteright.
I have really missed being inthis space with you all and I
really am so excited to kick offthis new season with y'all,
because there has been so muchthat I have been reflecting on,
walking through and, honestly,y'all growing into, and so, with

(01:28):
this episode, I really want toshare with y'all all the things
right, all the things, all thelife updates, what has been
shifting in my business and, honestly, we're going to talk
about the energy that we'rebringing into this next chapter
of the podcast, and so I'mreally excited.
I really just want to jumpstraight in, honestly, to a

(01:51):
conversation that I had with myoldest a little while ago, and
she was asking me if our familywas rich, right, the things that
kids ask us right and honestly, without skipping a beat, I told
her that when you truly believethat you are provided for in
every way that means mind, body, soul then yes, not only are you

(02:16):
rich, but you are wealthy.
Right, because the truth isthat all the material things,
the truth is that all thematerial things, they fade away,
they don't stay with us, theydon't get to go with us whenever
we move on from this world.
Truly, what stays with youforever is you right, you're

(02:41):
what stays with you, and whenyou are taking care of yourself,
you are carrying wealth in away that no one is able to take
away.
Right.
And so, teaching her in thatmoment, it was, like you know,
it's always that moment whenyour kids ask you something and
you get to reflect on how torespond to them.
And then it gives you a wordand you're like whoa, you know I

(03:05):
really need to be followingexactly what I'm teaching her
right.
And so for me, this past summeras we're creeping into fall very
exciting, but this summer was asummer of wealth and rest and
realignment for me, of wealthand rest and realignment for me.

(03:32):
It was truly a moment to pause, come back and meet myself again
as now a mama of three, as awoman in business and as someone
who is committed to trulyliving in alignment with what my
purpose is.
And it was also a rare moment.
That is no longer rare for mebecause I am building it into my
life, but it was a moment forme to rest without feeling guilt

(03:56):
, and that in itself y'all thatinkling in itself was
transformational for me.
It's why I'm showing updifferently this season and why
you're going to be seeing theshifts that you will see.
And so let's chat a little bitabout life updates, about what
filled my cup over the summer,y'all.

(04:18):
It was the intentional timespending with my family.
Before starting the summer, Ihad a chat with myself and also
with my boss, and just made adecision that every single week
I was going to put to use mypaid time off, but I was very

(04:38):
intentional about it.
I took every single Friday off, because those normally are.
I took those days off so that Icould spend them with Olivia
during her summer, because shedid not have summer camp this
year and things like that, andso I wanted to make sure her
summer wasn't just, first of all, sitting at home, you know, on

(05:00):
the tablet, or watching the TV,but I also wanted to give her a
chance to explore, give her achance to intentionally rest
before the new school yearstarted.
So it was a moment for both ofus and we did all sorts of
things, y'all.
There were bees involved.
We visited lots of bees.

(05:21):
We explored our area in a newway and just kind of being you
know that, saying where you'relike tourist in your own
neighborhood.
We did that.
We explored new things, newmuseums, new environmental
centers, all the things.
We were just, you know, curiouslike what's out there, what can
we do, what can we get into?

(05:44):
We also, as a family, experienced the water park with
three little ones the first time.
Lots of July 4th.
And then Gerald and I actuallycelebrated eight years of
marriage in Montreal, canada, which was huge, y'all when I
tell you, really leaning into mycircle during that time and

(06:06):
allowing, you know, not just mebut both of us to take a step
away from being parents for alittle while and just enjoying
each other's company, enjoyingexploring a new city and
allowing ourselves again thattheme of allowing ourselves to
rest.
Another big thing that happenedfor me this summer is that I got

(06:29):
to partner with one of ourlocal consignment stores here in
Georgia, and so I actually gotto partner up with Rialana, the
one in I'm trying to think of itit is in like Suwannee Duluth,
the one at Sugarloaf Mall.
If you're in Georgia, please gocheck them out.
But I got the opportunity topartner up with them and offer

(06:53):
some snacks to them for themamas that came into shop during
one of their most recent sales, and that was really eye-opening
to me as I kind of step intothis new lane and expanding my
business and understandingexactly you know just how I can
support my community, how I cancontinue to support mamas, and

(07:14):
so that was, that was huge forme.
Another thing that I did andthat you're going to start
seeing these shifts in mybusiness, right, and we're going
to talk about that in a littlebit like what, what is going on
in Ebony's world as far asbusiness.
But I was very intentionalabout leaning into sisterhood
this summer and so I spent sometime at the.

(07:35):
She Is Made For More Mastermindand some unlockings happened.
I had the opportunity to do abrand shoot by the just amazing
Nev.
I will link her Instagram inthe show notes y'all when I tell
you she was able to capture youknow not only where I am today

(08:00):
in my business, but also, kindof like where I am wanting to
take things Just phenomenal.
Phenomenal the way she was ableto take my vision and make it a
reality, but then also justbeing able to sit in that circle
of sisterhood and truly justowning and unlocking another

(08:22):
level of my own food story.
As I chat about this with myclients now about you know their
own food story and how we'rereframing and reshaping and
rewriting our food story and ourfamily's food story.
But for me, I wasn't expectedto unlock that next level of

(08:43):
like where my foundation started, where my food story started,
was huge.
So y'all are going to see a lotmore of that as I share really
just unapologetically.
You know where I started andhow I've reframed and reshaped
and rewritten my own story andhow I'm continuing to write now,

(09:05):
you know my own family storyand helping shape my kids' food
stories.
It's a whole thing, y'all.
So get ready.
Honestly, just over the summer, just witnessing the shifts that
happened when I allowed myselfto rest just unimaginable.

(09:26):
Some crazy things can happenwhen you are allowing yourself
rest without quote, unquote, youknow, having it as a reward for
working hard and things likethat.
And I really, you know, understood, like how much

(09:46):
resistance was there for mebefore.
You kind of have to unlearnthinking that way that yes, I'm
able to get this rest becauseI've worked so hard.
No, rest is your birthright, you do not have to earn it.
Magical things happen in yourmind, your body and your soul
when you allow it to rest.

(10:07):
So if you're a business owner,heck.
If you're a mama, anythingright.
When we embrace rest, you mightcome across things or you might
be more open to differentperspective shifts, you might
start to show up differentlybecause you've allowed that to

(10:28):
happen.
And that is truly what you guysare going to see from now on is
because I am being veryintentional in the way that I'm
allowing rest into my life andall of that.
To say, the summer I didgardening again and of course,
it's another year of learning.

(10:48):
But having my garden has beenteaching me how to accept
abundance.
And so, after doing, you know, all of these activities and
things, being able to alwayscome home and be grateful for
the abundance that's here, ofcourse, with my family, that we
have a roof over our heads andthings like that, that we are

(11:10):
well taken care of, but actuallybeing able to see the physical
representation of that in mygarden and having the earth
actually reflect back to me whatI was feeling inside was
actually beautiful.
And I am excited because I amcontinuing this year and moving

(11:30):
or transitioning my summergarden into a fall garden and so
I continue to accept thatabundance into my life.
Y'all coming back, coming backfrom that summer break, I am
entering a new season ofintention You've heard this word
now, you know, many times overthis episode so far.

(11:51):
And it's not just a new seasonof intention in my life you know
being intentional with rest butit's also in how I am now
deciding to run my business.
The kids just started schoolrecently.
Yes, now I have a second graderand a pre-K student.
I cannot even still wrap myhead around.

(12:12):
How fast these kids are movingthrough school Just blows my
mind.
But because of that, because ofthem returning to school and
starting school for the firsttime, there is not more space in
my day, right, and more spacemeans I'm able to allow myself
to have a little bit more focus, allow myself to have more

(12:33):
vision and more room to reallybuild what I'm being called to
build.
And so you've seen Cook Like aMother.
We have had now three rounds ofCook Like a Mother and she is
evolving.
This third round, if youhaven't seen the news yet but
this third and final round isgoing to be the last round that

(12:55):
it looks the way it does, because when I was in that
circle of sisterhood inCalifornia on the business
retreat, I really started tofeel the pull towards something
deeper, right, something thatwas more everlasting, more
evergreen, more connected, morelike a community that truly

(13:18):
never stops pouring into eachother, where we just continue to
evolve and grow over timetogether.
Grow over time together.
That's what I've kind of beenbuilding here as well on the
podcast.
But if you've ever been curiousor you were waiting to join

(13:40):
Cook Like a Mother and you'relike, oh man, like, did I miss
it?
No, no, you have not missed it,because, like I said, she is
evolving, not going away, and Iam really excited to be able to
share more with you about theupcoming changes and really to
just be along for the ride.
You know, if you aren'tfollowing me on Instagram yet,

(14:00):
go ahead and hit the followbutton, because you're gonna
wanna stay locked in untilwhat's coming.
But then also, if you're not onmy email list yet, that is also
another very intentional waythat I'm reaching out with my
audience, and so you're going towant to get locked into that
too.
All of this will be in the shownotes left, so don't worry
about being like, oh my gosh, Igot to go find the things I got

(14:23):
you.
And so let's talk about the vibefor this season.
Right, because we are nowalmost approaching I feel like
it's about two and a half yearsnow, but we're approaching like
the three-year mark of ThriveLike a Mother, and this season
you're going to hear the wordagain intentional living, rooted

(14:46):
presence and expansion withoutburnout.
That is what we are focusing onthis season.
We're not, we're no longer inthis hustle season to truly
prove anything anymore, becausewe are now moving with a purpose
.
We are resting when we need to,without it having to be earned.

(15:07):
We are letting the joy lead usand we are reclaiming our voice,
one step and one choice at atime.
And so, honestly, you can expect, like these solo episodes
obviously one-on-one when I getto chat with you.
We've got so many powerfulguest conversations coming to
you this season and so manyreflections that are going to

(15:31):
leave you, at the end of eachepisode, feeling just a little
bit more lighter, feeling just alittle bit more seen and a
whole lot more grounded in yourown journey that you're on.
That is how I want to supportyou this season, because it's
not about doing more anymore.
It's really about doing whatmatters in our life and doing it

(15:53):
well, doing it well.
And so, before I go, I want toask you something to reflect on,
and, as we're entering intothis final quarter of the year
which is insane to me how we'vegotten here so fast, but I want

(16:14):
to bring it back to the summer, right I want to have you reflect
on what you're celebrating fromthis summer.
Maybe it's a new perspectivethat you picked up.
Maybe it's a new relationshipthat you gained this summer.
Maybe it's a new dream that youwere starting to build because

(16:35):
you can.
Maybe it's you embracing morerest.
Whatever that is, journal thatout and then, if you feel called
, dm me please or, you know, send me a message, Tag me on
Instagram to share what it isthat you're celebrating, no
matter how big or small youthink it is, because I truly

(16:57):
love to celebrate with y'all, Itruly love to hype you up and,
like I said, support you in thisseason and support you in your
journey, because we're in thistogether always, and I am
grateful, as always, for eachand every one of y'all who
presses play, who keeps sharingthe podcast, who keeps showing

(17:20):
up, even on the hard days, tohave me pour into y'all, because
that's truly why I do this isbecause I want to make sure you
know you are never, never alone.
And so season four season fouris here, y'all, and I already
feel so good about this seasonand the shifts that are

(17:40):
happening.
So, until next time, keepshowing up for yourself, keep
thriving and keep embracing restwithout it having to be earned.
Thank you so much for listeninglove.
