Welcome back to another episode of the Thriving Moms of Autistics Podcast. Do you ever ask yourself, “Who am I?” Who am I, really?
Moms of autistics have a lot of going on and a lot of moving parts. It’s easy to get lost in the daily aspects of your life.
Unfortunately when that happens, you lose yourself, which is not good for you. One of my red flags that pop up is when I am moving so fast in life that I lose track of time. I don’t even know what day or month it is.
In this episode, we dive into your personal identity and how to use it as a reminder to slow down and really live life as it was meant to be lived.

Are you just a mom of an autistic child? Who are you really?
If I asked you to describe who you are, what would you say? Take a minute to pause and ponder that. Make a list. Not if you are in the car, of course. Lol!
For me, I would say that my identity, like most, is multifaceted. I am a woman of faith, who is a mom, a wife, an entrepreneur, a professor, a coach and support for other moms, supporter of other women, a friend to many, and so much more.
I recently heard that 1 in 4 moms say that their identity is entirely defined by parenthood or just as a “mom.” This means that they have lost touch with themselves outside of being a mom.
They are so much more! The longer you are a mom, the longer this deems to be true.
This is driven by one’s hormonal response during and after pregnancy. I remember feeling this way for some time.
I was an older mom in my 40’s. Now that I am perimenopausal in my early 50’s that is a whole other thing.
Going back to moms in general, you are dealing with societal expectations, lifestyle adjustments, isolation, and transition.
What does it mean to truly live the life you were meant to as a mom of an autistic? How do you live a life that serves YOU?
The goal of this episode is to recognize where you are at, who you are, what you want, and lead with that in mind as you embrace 2025.
I see this all the time with women in general. I’ve seen it in myself before I became a mom and as I was learning to navigate mom life.
If anything, it was raising a son on the spectrum that started the positive shift. But it is super easy to fall into the trap of losing yourself.
As moms of autistics, everyone has something to say about how we parent and live our lives. Many are well-meaning, but some are not.
Here are some ways to get on track for success in 2025:
You are a beautiful and amazing human being. Always remember that you are doing your best and you will get there. I hope this helps!
Let’s me up again next week!

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
