level.
Welcome back, it is definitelytime for tea.
I'm your host, makita.
I just want to thank you somuch for sharing your time, your
space and, of course, thatamazing energy you bring to each
and every episode, and I'm justso thankful to have each and
every one of you with me tobeing a part of this amazing
community.
I would have never thought whenI first started this podcast

(01:52):
three years ago that, honestly, that it would still be up and
going.
You know, you start sometimesyou start something and you have
this amazing hope of what youthink it would look like and
feel like and, honestly, it isnothing what I expected, what I
thought.
It is even better, to be honest, than anything that I could
have dreamed of, and I'm justamazingly grateful each and

(02:16):
every time I have a chance tohit that record button and show
up, and I just love the lovethat I feel from you guys to see
people out in the street.
They're like, oh my gosh, Ilistened to this episode, I love
it.
Thank you so much.
You know like you hit home.
So I'm internally grateful foreach and every one of you.
But you know, as we end theseason of letting go, I am sure,

(02:38):
like I know, when we firststarted the new year and I was
sitting down with so manyamazing people and we were
talking about this idea ofletting go and to be full circle
here now at the end and I'mjust like, wow, what an

(02:59):
emotional rollercoaster had thishas all been, and I'm so glad
that I was able to share thejourney with you guys, to be in
the ride with you as things werehappening and unfolding for me,
like we were having theseconversations in real time.
Now, some of the things Ididn't talk about directly as
they happened, because what I'velearned is that in order to

(03:21):
have conversations aroundcertain things, that you have to
first be able to heal from itand learn from it and grow from
it, and then you're able toarticulate the feelings, the
emotions, and to hold space forthe next person.
It's hard to have conversationsabout something that you are
still healing from and dealingwith and you don't really

(03:44):
understand everything, theemotions that you're feeling.
It's really hard and I thankyou so much because not only am
I able to hold space for youguys, but y'all are also able to
hold space for me in thesetimes as well and allow me the
space to share the stories andshare the insight and what I've

(04:05):
learned, because, honestly, I'ma very private person, I'm such
an introvert, so this allows mean opportunity to be honest, to
just be myself, to be me, andthat's the one thing I love
about it is that I can just beopen, honest and know that I'm

(04:31):
surrounded in a safe space bypeople that get it, that lived
it, that are me, not necessarilyknow what that looks and feels
like, but can definitelyidentify with the emotion that
goes with it.
So that you know, sometimes wedon't necessarily have the

(04:52):
experience, but we definitelyhave the empathy to understand.
So, as we wrap up this lettinggo series, I am on the verge of
actually moving.
So I am packing up my homestudio and we are moving and I'm
super excited about it.
Like this is like so excitingand I'm looking forward to it.

(05:15):
But we all know moving is sostressful and it just it's a lot
and I didn't realize how muchstuff I accumulated.
You know like, oh my gosh, Ihave so much stuff and what I'm
really trying not to do is notget overwhelmed by all the stuff
and to just enjoy the processand just flow.

(05:40):
You know I'm not necessarily aflowy type of person.
I like to have order andstructure and know, like this is
what's going to happen on thisday, this is going to happen
that day, and plan everythingout.
And unfortunately, life doesnot work that way.
We can only plan so much before.
Things just kind of naturallyhappen on its own and we can

(06:02):
either go with the flow or tryto resist the oncoming tsunami
and still get swept away.
So my idea is to just sort of beokay and to remember to flow
and also, as we talk aboutletting go, to let go of this

(06:23):
idea that I have to controleverything.
If you're a person like me,when everything feels uncertain,
you try to control all theother little pieces around you
so you can feel like you havecontrol of what's happening.
And the truth is it's not realcontrol, it's just this idea
that we tell ourselves.
It's just this idea that wetell ourselves.

(06:44):
So my goal is to flow and to behappy and because this is a
very exciting time and I'm superexcited, I will try to share

(07:06):
some of this with you, as ifyou're friends with me on
Instagram and Facebook.
I will definitely try to do alittle videos and share this
journey of process of as I packall this stuff up and get in
this process of moving thingsand I'm going to have a bigger
office and that's I think that'sthe biggest thing that the
studio is definitely my studioroom is going to be bigger.
Biggest thing the studio isdefinitely my studio room is

(07:26):
going to be bigger.
Right now it's a little smalloffice room that's upstairs that
I have and now I'm going tohave this big room.
So, like, I'm so excited aboutthat and I'm these beautiful

(07:49):
island where the countertops arejust so pretty and I'm just
thinking about all the thingsthat I can bake and no, I'm not
a baker.
I have, just over the lastcouple of years, I've really
experimented with like bakingand cooking and doing homemade
cakes and cookies and all thatstuff, and I just love it.
It's a great way to relax andde-stress and it's also a great

(08:11):
way that I can kind of control, like, what's in the ingredients
and I can substitute differentthings that don't necessarily
agree with me, like they used towhen I was young.
So I like that idea of if I'mcooking it myself, if I'm making
it and I'm the one that'sadding the ingredients.
I get to say what goes in andwhat does not go in, and I can

(08:32):
try to make it a very ahealthier version of cooking
what I would normally probablyget.
So that's one thing I loveabout baking and I'm one of
those people that I'll try it.
I'll try it.
Some things are not necessarilygood.
That's why I say I'm not abaker.

(08:52):
I just love to have fun and trydifferent things, and I think
the beautiful thing about lifeis that we don't have to be
perfect at everything, but wecan definitely explore and try
new things.
So if you're in this phase ofyour life where you're just
trying to be very, you knowyou're working on your
creativity.
Creativity can come in so manydifferent ways.
You don't have to be a personthat can draw or paint or, you

(09:14):
know, make music.
Even podcasting is creative,Writing is creative.
Baking and cooking is anamazing creative experience
where you're creating your ownrecipes, you're experimenting
with what works for you, whattastes good, mixing flavors All
of those things are so beautiful.

(09:36):
And as you go through this nextjourney, as you think about your
next step, I want you to reallyreflect and sit with yourself
and think about the things thatbring you the most joy and
happiness and how you canincorporate more of that into
your daily life.
How can you take all thesethings that bring you joy and

(09:59):
bring them into your life in aconsistent basis?
What would that look like?
How would that feel for you?
And you know it doesn't allhave to happen at once.
Sometimes, if you're like me,I'm one of those people that
once I think it, I feel like Ineed to put it into action and
all needs to be done right thenand there.

(10:19):
But it doesn't have to.
And as I learn to go with theflow, I'm learning to put little
pieces in at a time and see howthat works.
And you may have to changethings, and it's okay.
Pull some things back, add alittle different things in and
just continue to immerseyourself in the experience of

(10:41):
living life, because we are allemotional beings, we're all
creative beings and I feel likeI am at my best the more
creative I am.
I found I have more joy when Iam able to create, to tap into
that other side of me.

(11:02):
That's not so serious, that isfun, that is playful, that just
is okay with not being perfect, but just enjoying it.
So what I want to leave withyou today is that joy looks
different for all of us.
I remember my mom calling me.
It was a year ago and she saidI just wake up every morning

(11:28):
just so joyful.
I've never felt like thisbefore.
I am so happy and I just I'mvery thankful that I can wake up
every morning and feel joy.
It was the first time that Iheard my mom say that and it
just kind of stuck with me thatin all her 70 years of life,

(11:54):
this is the first time she'swoke up every day in this past
year or two with a sense of joy,a sense of love, because when
we have joy, we have love, wehave gratitude.
You know, we have this hugecapacity for compassion, for

(12:14):
empathy for others.
And I just started thinkingabout all that entails to have
joy and I started thinking aboutthe things that bring me joy
and I'm like man, she's foundthe key to life here and I'm
like wow, it took her a longtime, but she's happy.
And it made me feel goodbecause I knew that my mom was

(12:36):
happy, she had found her joy andher happiness.
She had found her joy and herhappiness, and she knew how to
tap into that joy and happinesswhenever she needed to find that

(12:57):
sense of gratitude on thosedays when find that joy.
Once you find that on the daysthat are not so good, that don't
go so great, you can start totap into that, to pull from that
, to lean into that a little bitmore as a reminder so you can

(13:19):
fill yourself up with love, soyou can fill yourself up with
gratitude, because when we startgoing through the idea of
gratitude, it fills us with love, it fills us with a sense of
joy and in return, we can showthat compassion to the people

(13:40):
around us, we can be moreunderstanding, we can have more
patience.
All right, you guys, that is allthe tea that I have to spill
today.
Of course, this is a very shortepisode because, as I said, I'm
trying to wrap everything upand getting ready for this big

(14:00):
move and just this next chapterin my life.
And I know that as you sit andthink about where you're at
right now and you're thinkingabout your next chapter, your
next season, your next moment, your next move, that you do so
with a sense of joy, ofgratitude, and remember to just
continue to flow and not try tocontrol everything, but to be

(14:21):
present in the moment and tohold some compassion and space
for yourself, for the personthat you are today, and know
that you are working on becomingthe person that you want to be
in the future.
All right, my friends, untilnext time, namaste.
