The wizards around the pyre are restrained by thorns and brambles by Uggh as Ag'nail casts Silence on them.
Valentine startles Lyla by transforming into his Giant Rat form, but eventually persuades her to be saved by the group with the help of Wynona and Ag'nail.
Lyla informs Wynona that the townsfolk are in dire straights and were sacrificing her in an attempt to bring prosperity and good fortune to the town.
Spells start flying everywhere as Vox rushes into the fray, almost killing a wizard in a single blow.
The group slays two wizards as they escape through the town known as Friendly Arm, with Valentine casting illusory magic to make the cart appear empty.
Later that evening when everyone made camp, Valentine wakes up Vox when he hears bells in the distance... bells that are getting closer...
