Now as I mentioned earlier, these 5 songs are super easy to play.
In fact, you'll use just 3 or 4 chords, so you're probably going to be able to play them
(02:49):
right away.
The first one is called Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.
It was recorded and released in 1985 and it's an upbeat song about the feeling of finding
an adulterated love. To play this song, you'll use the chords A, D and E with a super fast
(03:10):
strum. I like to use the colipsos strum.
The next one is Bob Marley's 1977 classic Three Little Birds, also known as Don't Worry.
As the story goes, Bob was inspired by three little birds that sat on his porch each morning.
He took them as a sign that things were fine.
(03:30):
To play this song, you'll use the A, D and E chords.
You can play this song with a basic strum, but it's actually really cool with a "scarregue"
kind of strum.
The third song is Riptide by Vance Joy.
That's the recording name for the Australian singer-songwriter James Kio.
(03:51):
This one was released in 2013.
This is also a fun-up beat song and it's about a girl he meets who tells him she's a
magician's assistant.
To play this song, you'll use the chords A minor, G and C.
A quick strum with this song works really well, although it's fun to change it up during
(04:12):
the chorus by playing a "scarregue" kind of strum.
The next song is Drift Away by Dobie Gray.
It was recorded and released in 1973 and then re-recorded in 2003 by Uncle Cracker.
It's about expressing the pain of hurt feelings.
(04:33):
To play this song, you'll use the chords A, D, E and B minor and play it with a simple
basic strum.
And the last song on the list is Under the Bordwalk by The Drifters.
It was originally recorded in 1964 and has since been covered by Rolling Stones, John
(04:56):
Mellon Camp and the Jackson Five to name just a few.
And it was featured in the film Beaches.
This song is played using the G, C, D and E minor chords.
A mellow calipso with a riscato added in is really nice with this song.
Riscato is a flamenco technique where you fan the strings.
(05:20):
If you'd like to see me playing a medley of these songs, go to my YouTube channel, the
link is in the show notes.
Alrighty, it's time for you and your guitar to start feeling the musical vibes of summer.

(05:44):
and knowledge.
