Today's tip is Balance for Better Guitar Music, the latest Yoh Guitar Video.
Today we're diving into a fascinating topic, Balance, or I should say the lack of balance
which can actually enhance your guitar plane.
(01:39):
In a previous episode, I explored the scientific research behind this concept.
Now I'm taking it a step further with a special Yoh Guitar Video to help you bring balance
to your guitar plane.
In this episode, I'll describe some of the simple balance as Sones, poses that you'll
(02:01):
find in this new Yoh Guitar Video.
You'll discover firsthand how balance and even a little bit of imbalance can take your guitar
plane experience to the next level.
As always, a big shout out this week and thank you to our fellow guitarists, joining us
from Croatia, Kuwait, Colombia, and Nigeria.
(02:27):
By the way, if you listen on Spotify, Apple, or wherever you listen to your podcasts, please
leave a 5 star review so other guitar players can easily find this podcast.
Thank you.
So let's dive into this new video.
Have you ever heard of the word neuroplasticity?
(02:49):
It's basically the ability of the neural networks in the brain to change through growth
and reorganization.
In a nutshell, the brain can be stimulated or triggered to produce learning chemicals.
This can be done in many ways, including through balance or rather imbalance.
(03:12):
In balancing or really by taking your mind and body to the point where you're saying,
"Whoa!"
As you're trying to balance, you're triggering and stimulating your brain to be alert
and pay attention.
So just imagine how an alert mind can translate into your guitar plane.
(03:33):

Now the science behind this phenomenon is fascinating and you might enjoy exploring
(04:17):
the research which I discussed in that previous episode I mentioned earlier.
It's called how balance movements can improve your guitar playing and I put the link in
the show notes.
So far as this new balance-yoguitar video, I think you'll find the poses are super easy to
(04:38):
do.
They're totally safe and pleasantly effective.
They do work best when you practice them before playing your guitar, but they can be
helpful mid-plane session too.
In the video I share a few poses and even one that's a little bit goofy.
(04:59):
And don't fret, ha ha, I cover safety and best practices first.
Like doing them either near a wall or with a chair next to you because you can feel a
little wobbly.
It's perfectly normal and actually the wobbly feeling is the point where your brain gets
all fired up.
(05:20):
But of course safety is always a priority.
I also share some tricks that can help you achieve better balance, specifically grounding
your feet and drishti, a yoga practice of focused gaze.
Of course mindful breathing is always included.
The first two asanas or poses are standing poses.
(05:45):
Then we move to the floor for balance asanas in tabletop which is hands and knees and
lastly seated for a fun practice with just your eyes.
You can find this new balance video in my Yo Guitar Video Library.
I've placed that link in the show notes too or just go to my website marlinemesmusic.com.
