(00:22):
Relax and enjoy.
Hey, friends, popping in for apodcast episode, I wanted this
one to be a little bit morerelaxed.
Um, I just want to share someof the things that I've been
doing, some fun things as wellas.
Um, I did talk about the holidayseason a couple episodes ago
(00:42):
and it's weird.
I don't know why it happens, for me at least.
I don't know if it's subliminalum, but I was like really
confident going into the holidayseason.
Like right after um Halloween,I was like I'm feeling good
about the holidays, I'm feelingexcited.
And then, as November carriedon, the busy, chaotic energy
(01:03):
happened not necessarily with me, but I don't know just
something about the idea of that.
You have to show up for thingslike I have to cook Thanksgiving
dinner and we gotta do this andyou know you gotta buy presents
, and everybody just seems likethey're running around and like
doing these things because theyhave to and for some reason, the
energy always drains me andmakes me sad and, uh, I don't
(01:25):
know I just it gets me out ofthe mood.
Like I like like Christmaslights, christmas music, I love
eating Thanksgiving dinner, Ilove the movies and the vibes,
but for some reason the pastcouple years it's just been
making me feel like blah, likeman, like sad for people that
they have to like.
Kind of like it just feels likepeople are like showing up for
things that they don to like.
Kind of like it just feels likepeople are like showing up for
(01:45):
things that they don't reallywant to do.
They're just doing it becausethey feel like they have to do
it.
Um, and I've talked about thismany times and I just don't know
why that happens to me, but itdoes so.
So we're gonna see goingthrough the holidays.
Um, in a couple episodes agotoo, I was kind of um playing
around and I said you know yougot to set your intentions going
(02:06):
into the holidays and stick tothem, right?
Do you want to stick to yourgoals?
Do you want to lay off thebreaks and just take a break
completely?
Um, do you want to maintain, like, what is your goals?
And I will say I'm going toreflect on that a little bit
here.
I went in with the intention ofhey, you know, I'm feeling good
, I'm going to push through alittle bit, I want to do a
challenge for my clients.
And then, I don't know, I justagain the drained energy came in
(02:29):
and I was like you know what,we're gonna keep it simple.
So I am going to be doing a um,like 12 days of fitness kind of
program and it's free.
There'll be a chance to winsome gift cards in there.
It's free to everybody.
My clients get a little bit, something extra, but, um, I'll
be doing that early December.
(02:50):
But I don't know, I just feellike maybe I was pushing through
.
I felt like um, between somehealth issues that happened with
my family, um, I got sickpretty bad in like late
September and that really threwme off.
I mean, I feel fine now butjust the I don't know why it
just like threw me off myroutine.
(03:11):
Um, we got a kitten, you know.
There was just like.
It was like one thing after theother.
Um, and I got really busy workand with my work and I just feel
like I've been like grinding, grinding, grinding, chugging,
chugging, chugging, with not alot of time to catch my breath
and, um, I feel like I've beenlike, uh, just pushing through,
pushing through which I dobelieve it's fine to push
(03:32):
through sometimes but for me itkind of got to the point where,
um, the pushing through startedto drain me, um, I started to
get more resentful, more easilyaggravated, and that's when you
know it's time for a break, whenlittle simple things start to
aggravate you and you just needa break.
I'm trying to be morepreventative, so I did take a
(03:53):
week off of work, very thankfulof the ability to do that,
because not all of us do.
I'm still doing behind thescenes stuff like more creative
work that I necessarily didn'thave time to do and things that
I've been putting off.
We're going to maybe take acouple days away, because that
is another thing that I thinkput us on edge.
Every two to three months welike to take a trip, but due to
(04:16):
all that stuff going on, itwasn't in the cards, whether it
be time, or things were crazyexpensive or the weather wasn't
cooperating, it just didn't workout for one reason or another.
So we haven't really formallybeen able to take some time,
truly time away, and that hasbeen very important for our
mental health, just to explore, get away, be in a different
(04:37):
space, not think about work, uh,be in a different community,
visit different things, just befree.
I, I and it's not for everybody, but I just enjoy road tripping
, trying fun new things inlittle towns, um, new food,
playing around, relaxing.
I always come back feelingrecharged from those types of
(04:57):
trips, um, so we have that goingon.
Um, so hopefully I will feelbetter with that.
I was hesitant with my decisionbecause obviously we live in
America.
It's, you know, hustle cultureall day.
You know if you're sick theymake you feel guilty for taking
a day off.
But everybody was veryunderstanding, everybody was
very kind and nice.
(05:17):
But you know I always feel badbecause you're like out of your
routine and it's like nothingsevere.
You know you didn't lose an arm, you're not super sick, you
know it's not like a crazyreason, but I do believe it is
important to take time for yourmental health.
And it goes back to my theory ofparticularly with moms, moms
who always run themselves intothe ground and they're like my
(05:39):
children come first, my husbandcomes first.
I got to put myself last, Idon't want to do anything for me
, they come first and it's like, well, yes, but if you run
yourself into the ground, they're getting an exhausted,
stressed out, angry version ofyou, and that's kind of how I
was feeling.
It's like I don't want to givemy clients, my class people, my
(05:59):
husband, my family, my kitties.
I don't want to give anybodythe worst version of me, the
tired version of me, the short, pissed off version of me.
I want the well-rested, healthy, top of mind person.
And you know it's the holidays, people are going to be a little
more all over the place, um,with traveling, and they're not
(06:20):
going to be as adherent.
So for me as a trainer, itworks out a little bit as well,
um, to kind of ease back andjust kind of go with the flow
with everybody else as well.
It's kind of like duringvacation season, as a personal
trainer, if everybody else is onvacation, you might as well
take a vacation too, right?
So so we have all of that Um,and yeah, I just I definitely
(06:41):
need this.
I'm hoping that it will help.
But, with that being said, Ihave definitely been big
chilling and that means playinga lot of Sims.
So this is where the personal, like just kind of chit chat
comes in.
But I just wanted to kind ofexplain that and hopefully, like
, maybe this encourages you tobig, chill a little bit, take
(07:02):
that break.
But I've definitely beenplaying some sims, which is fun
for me.
I love it, love building.
I've been really playing inthere, which you know, um, if
any of you have ever played sims, you know you just kind of like
play for three days straightand then don't touch it for like
two years, but for me I've beenplaying a good bit.
I've been playing video games,um, that's another like just
(07:23):
outlet for me.
I've been watching the menendezbrothers, which I'm a little
late to the game.
Um, I'm not watching thedocumentary, I'm watching the
ryan murphy um, I don't knowwhat you would call it.
I know there's a word for it,um, but it was.
I think I didn't realize it wasa part of a series.
It's the monsters, the menendezbrothers.
Uh, he made the jeffrey dahmerone as well, which I really
(07:44):
enjoyed.
I know it was a littlecontroversial, um, but I enjoyed
it.
I do love Evan Peters, um, asan actor as well, and it was
great.
Um, there's apparently a thirdinstallment, but they did not
announce who it would be about.
But, um, the Menendez brothers.
I knew nothing about the story.
All I knew was that they killedtheir parents and there was
(08:07):
actually a picture of them at,like, I think, a basketball game
on a card, like a card of theplayer.
If you look in the backgroundyou'll see them, and I think
that was after the night theykilled their parents or
something like that, I don'tknow.
So it was the night they killedtheir parents.
It was crazy.
So I'm kind of seeing the storywhich, the way it's playing out
.
I don't know so, um, it was thenight they killed their parents
.
It was crazy.
So I'm kind of seeing the storywhich, the way it's playing out
(08:30):
, I don't know how accurate itis.
I know the jeffrey dommer onewas pretty accurate to what
happened in real life.
They were trying to be prettyaccurate.
I heard some I didn't look intoit too much but I heard some
accusations that, um, you knowit wasn't necessarily true to
who the boys were as people, butI don't know.
(08:50):
Um, it's interesting howthey're playing this out, though
, because it's like you'reseeing things from the brothers
perspectives, um, and thenyou're seeing things from other
perspectives and it's like youbelieve one thing and then you
see it again and you're likewait, who's lying?
Is somebody lying?
Like?
So it's crazy.
I'm, I, uh, I think it's nineepisodes and I'm on episode six
or seven, but it's really, really good.
(09:12):
Um, the acting's great, I lovethe vibe, the music, the time
period, it's good, uh, but I allI do know in real life is the
menendez brothers are still injail, so they did not receive
the death penalty.
I don't think, um, I think theywere supposed to be retried.
Uh, I don't know if it wasbecause of this whole thing or
it was just kind of like goodtiming, uh, but I'm curious
(09:34):
because I want to finish this,to kind of make my own opinion,
because there's a lot of storieslike this, uh, cases like this,
where things happen and they gothrough the court and, uh, you
know what really happened.
You may know, never know whattruly happened or the way
evidence is presented.
Sometimes they withholdimportant evidence.
(09:55):
Um, evidence is messed with.
You know, it just depends onthe situation.
If you enjoy that kind of stuff, one that I would really
recommend and it's a commitmentis the Staircase on Netflix.
This guy he was a veteran andhe was an author Pretty wealthy,
relaxed guy, easygoing guy.
(10:16):
He had children, and him andhis wife were drinking one night
Like some wine in their houseand she fell down the stairs,
hence the Staircase.
Drinking one night like somewine in their house and she fell
down the stairs, hence thestaircase, and just the way the
scene was, with like the blood.
Um, they have the 911 call ofhim.
But pretty much the argumentwas did he push her or did she
(10:37):
fall?
And it's a crazy story.
I still don't really know whatto believe.
I could see it going either way.
Um, but it's a really goodwatch if you want to see that
and how the court system and theevidence and and different
sides of the story.
It's really really good um, soI've been watching that.
That's another way for me tozone out.
I think video games.
For me it takes a little bitmore mental effort, in my
(10:58):
opinion, because you're thinkingyou're problem solving, um, you
know, even with sims, sometimesyou're role playing and
building and things like that.
Um, tv shows, I definitely getthe opportunity to zone out more
and kind of just shut my brainoff and enjoy.
Um, and for me it's just whatmood I'm in, like, sometimes I'm
in the mood for scary, sometimes I'm in the mood for
action.
Sometimes I'm in the mood forsomething cheesy, where I know
(11:20):
it's like terrible, but I justenjoy watching it.
Um, I'm actually not that intoanime, but another thing that I
enjoyed recently that I justfinished up the first season,
which it's a cliffhanger, guys, just so you know, but it's like
24 episodes.
It's called delicious indungeon, so it's an anime, but I
would say I would compare it tolike like pokemon anime, so
(11:41):
it's it's um more for a wideraudience.
I feel like like it's nothinglike crazy, um, but it's in
english and it's it's fun.
It's like kind of like dungeonsand dragons meets anime meets.
They cook the monsters into fundishes.
It's, it's good and there'sthere's a whole backstory, um,
(12:03):
but apparently they're gonnamake a second season, so, um,
it's good, so that's somethingelse.
And then and then I feel likefor a long time we haven't had
like, with the rise of streamingservices and just the internet,
I feel like we all haven'tnecessarily had community events
(12:25):
like over TV.
That's something that I missedfrom the pre-internet to
pre-streaming era.
Right, like you know, you onlyhad a set amount of channels and
it's like when a moviepremiered on a channel, like
everybody knew about it or whenthere was a special or a game
like everybody knew about it.
Right, and I'm very happy withthe exception, I would say, to
(12:46):
maybe like sometimes someNetflix stuff, because Netflix
was kind of like the OGstreaming service, like Stranger
Things, tiger King, during thelockdown.
So there's some more cultural, cultural events, like some
bigger ones, but some of itstill feels like niche right,
like like, uh, your friend willbe really into this anime and
(13:07):
there's an anime sector and then, and then someone else will be
into this scary movie and thensomeone else is into this big
box action movie and that's cool.
You know, I love that.
We're able to kind of likeexpress ourselves and, if you
like, really love like onerandom, very specific thing.
There's something out there foryou and there probably is like
a little community for it.
Like I love the fallout showthis year, uh, the fallout tv
(13:28):
show, because fallout has been abig part of my gaming uh life.
I I love fallout, um, I grew upon it and I just love the vibe
and the story and the lore andthe fact that they made the TV
show made me really happy.
But that's like one that, likeyou know, I think everybody can
kind of like at least in thatmini community can come together
and it brought some people whodidn't play the game into the
(13:50):
world and they started playingthe game.
So that was fun.
But so we have that.
But, um, so we have that.
But yeah, I think that'ssomething that has been missing
for a while has been these bigkind of community events, and
that's something I enjoy and I'mglad that we were able to kind
of bring that energy back, including social media and the
(14:13):
internet.
Um, and with that I'm gonna sayfootball and um, I'm going to
say the Mike Tyson and Jake Paulfight.
So I love that.
Like, like, um, football, they're gonna be streaming, uh,
the Christmas game, which isSteelers and the Chiefs, so
(14:34):
that'll be fun.
Um, but like big things likethat where everybody tunes in
and then you kind of hop on andyou experience it, and then you
hop on social media and like yousee the memes and like you're
like, oh my god, I thought thesame thing, like the the jake
paul mike tyson fight wasprobably the funniest one,
because you know I was like thiswill be cool, like this is fun,
like I'm not into boxing at all, but like I know jake paul and
(14:57):
I know mike tyson, so like, let's, let's watch it.
It's on netflix.
Um, it was like buffering thewhole time.
The quality was terrible.
Um, mike tyson showed his buttcheeks at one point, like there
was a couple different memes.
Uh, jake paul coming out slow-moin like a car, um to I feel it
coming in the air tonight.
Uh, and, and it's funny becausewe experienced it in real time
(15:18):
and we were laughing and makingjokes.
And then we hopped on socialmedia and everybody was making
memes about the same things.
And it's funny how we always weshare the same experiences and
we point out similar things.
The same things stick out to us.
There was one I forget what itwas in particular, but one guy
made a joke about it and I waslaughing because I was like
(15:40):
that's so funny that theythought the same thing we did
and in a way, it's a way toconnect and I really enjoy that.
Um, even like blockbustermovies and things, um, different
big shows, that always makes meexcited when there's something
that we can all kind ofcollectively get really excited
about, like, like Star Wars, right when Star Wars 7 came out,
(16:01):
like it was such a big gapbetween six and seven, but
everybody was really reallyexcited and like it was a big
thing and everybody dressed upand you know it was so fun.
I'm getting goosebumps justtalking about it, but, um, that
has been something I've beenenjoying a lot lately.
Um, same thing with football.
I could be an outlier here.
It could be me because, um, Ijust started watching a little
bit, but it feels like me, atleast I can get into football if
(16:26):
I can identify with players andand um, for me, the Chiefs,
obviously, because they are wereundefeated.
They are not anymore, but theywere undefeated.
They won the super bowl.
You know, um, you have mahomes, patrick mahomes, and you have a
t swift's boyfriend there and, like, you have some people that
you can kind of identify withand you're like, okay, like I
(16:48):
know who you are.
Um and same with the steelers.
The steelers has always kind ofhad that vibe.
You know, you have the terribletowels.
Um, they have some marketingaround them, but I grew up
watching them when they were in,going to the Super Bowl and
things like that in the early tomid 2000s.
So that was a really fun timeand I feel like they were like
in a rebuilding era for a coupleyears, and now they're coming
(17:09):
back and like they've had areally great season so far and
it's been really exciting towatch and get back into it and
like see them play.
And, honestly, I've beenwatching just some random
football games and you know, thegames have been good, they've
been close and I've been gettingreally into it, even if I
didn't know who the players were.
Um, it's been fun to see.
So, um, yeah, I've been gettinginto that.
(17:30):
And even hockey.
I don't watch necessarilyprofessional hockey, but I'll
watch, like the minor leaguegames, like in person I'll go,
and that's been fun to watch aswell.
So, you know, that's kind ofwhat's been going on.
That's some things I've beendoing.
Um, just some random thoughts Iwanted to share with you guys.
I really enjoy these kind ofpodcasts every now and then, so
I think I'm gonna wrap this oneup, though I hope you enjoyed my
(17:53):
little chit chat, uh, my littlechill, chill time to rest and
recharge, and I hope thatencourages you to do the same.
However, whatever way suits you, whatever feels good to you,
and, um, I think that's all fornow.
All right, have a great rest ofyour day and I'll chat with you
soon.
