maybe a little bit of tea getsspilled.
We chat all about this in asuper casual environment, so
grab your beverage of choice, sit back, relax and enjoy.
(00:22):
Relax and enjoy.
Hello, friends.
Welcome back to another episodeof the tea with tina podcast.
On today's episode, I'm going tobe sharing something that I
have been using in my own life.
That has been very helpful, andI think this is helpful for
(00:44):
those of you to get over growthhumps.
Right, because we may grow aspeople and our lives change, but
maybe the way we conduct ourlives do not, and that's when we
feel stuck and cluttered andmessy because we don't change
our systems.
I know that sounds kind of likebusinessy and in a way it is.
(01:08):
For those of you who may bebusiness owners or just enjoy
business stuff, I will say forme personally, there's many
systems within my business thatworked up until a certain point
and now, with growth and adifferent structure, these
systems need to change.
But there are not just systemsin business, there are systems
(01:31):
in your life.
This could be the routine ofwhat you use to clean your house
, do laundry, meal prep, groceryshop?
What routine you use to meet upwith friends?
Do you have to actuallyschedule a once a month hangout
with them?
Maybe the routine you use atwork to get ready for work?
There are systems everywhereand once you start to notice
(01:55):
that, you can realize that youcan get efficient.
And I believe, especially inthis day and age where it just
seems like we have 100 things todo all the time, systems is
going to be your best friend, right, and I think we're seeing
this shift now.
I feel like, if we go back tojust the internet era, right,
(02:15):
like let's, let's just go backto when the iPhone came out,
because I think that's whenthings sort of started to change
2007, 2008, you know, facebookstarted to get big, big social
media happened.
Uh, the traditional old schoolinternet began to look a little
bit different.
Then we started to use thephone and technology more to
support our everyday lives.
(02:36):
We have our whole life in ourpalm with our smartphone and we
run a lot of things out of it.
And I think there was a pointup until recently that, um, like
this, the systems that did work.
When things first came out, itwas good, like as someone who
was a blogger and built awebsite, like self-taught, it
was relatively easy, but thenthings started to get more
(02:59):
complicated as more featurescame out, as they updated um,
like internet speeds, and videobecame more popular.
It wasn't just like writingarticles.
So now we have we need fastercomputers and you need more
download speed and you need morestorage space, because video,
video, video and things just gota little more complicated and I
(03:20):
don't think the systems werethere to support it.
But I do believe, as of recently, with the help of AI, chatgpt
is my best friend.
He literally is like I justwill spitball things off of him
or if I have a thought I'll say, hey, can you tighten this up a
little bit, clean it up a littlebit, make it not sound all over
the place, and he helps me.
So he's a great person tobounce ideas off of and like,
(03:46):
like he has helped me getorganized.
So I think with the rise of aiand then there's just some
things that things that wereclunky and kind of pushing their
boundaries have gotten a littlebit more efficient now.
It's like the technology haskind of caught up with the
everyday consumer and it's notjust so scattered anymore.
Like it obviously still is outthere, but there's more systems
that make things easier tohandle this like new age of
(04:08):
technology, if you will right.
Um, and again I think thiscomes up in our lives.
So one question because thetitle of the podcast episode,
one question that I ask myselfall the time to make my life
extremely simple, is what wouldthis look like if it were easy?
Now, I did not come up withthis.
Uh, there's a great man namedjonathan goodman.
(04:29):
He is, uh, mainly in thefitness space, but he's kind of
branched out into business andhe just wrote a book.
So if you want to check him out, j-o-n.
Goodman, jonathan goodman.
Um, he has said this questionand it really has helped me.
Like what would this look likeif it were easy?
Because I'm someone who tends toover complicate things.
(04:49):
Like my brain just likes tonaturally go to the path of most
resistance, like naturallyit'll just pick the weirdest way
, like my husband will always be.
Like why did you do it that way?
There's a way, easier way, andI was like I literally didn't
even think of that.
My brain just went to thisoption.
So I'm always on a journey tokind of optimize what I'm doing
(05:12):
and, again, I believe we allshould do this, especially if
you want to grow and betteryourself, because if you're
stuck in the same old thing, you're stuck in the same old
thing, right and again.
This can apply to so manyoutlets in your life.
So I encourage you to even justset aside a day and really
think, like when you go throughyour day, think about how things
get done and be like how couldI make this more efficient?
(05:34):
And it could be something assimple as doing a time audit and
like timing yourself right, like if you fold laundry, set a
timer, see how long it takes you, you know, can you beat the
timer?
A lot of the times we like tobeat the timer, like, oh, I can
get it done faster than 15minutes.
Watch this, you know, and itmakes us be more efficient.
(05:54):
You know, with your mealplanning, I always teach my
clients.
Can we, you know, set asidemaybe an hour where you're going
to, literally, you're going tohave a process.
You're going to look throughPinterest.
You, where you're going to,literally, you're gonna have a
process.
You're gonna look throughpinterest, you're gonna look for
recipe ideas.
All right, now you're gonnablock out your breakfast, your
lunch, your dinner, your snacks.
You're gonna write them all out.
You're gonna figure out thecalories and macros for them,
(06:15):
like what portions you wouldneed.
Then you make your grocery listand, boom, you're no grocery
shopping, um.
Now the meal prepping part.
That's gonna vary person toperson.
Maybe you um decide to mealprep everything that day.
Maybe you're someone who kindof just preps a couple things,
like maybe you pre-chop someveggies, you marinate your meats
, um, and then you throwsomething in the crock pot.
(06:35):
I'm kind of like a prep as yougo kind of person.
Uh, breakfasts I've been kindof prepping ahead of time, but
everything else I kind of justmake as I go.
Uh, because sometimes if youcook it ahead of time the taste
is meh.
But you know, you can seethere's a process there, maybe
for working out.
You're going to have a setprogram in mind of what you want
to do and then you schedule itin your calendar, just like a
(06:57):
doctor's appointment.
So it's planned out.
You know what you're doing eachday.
You know what moves you'redoing each day.
So that way you have a system.
And once you have that system,at first it's a little bit more
extra energy up front, but I'mtelling you.
Then it becomes thoughtless.
You go into the gym.
You um, you will just go, okay.
You open up your app.
(07:17):
It's it's leg day, all right, this is what I'm doing.
I'm doing this, xyz, and yousave all of that mental energy
of oh my god, what machineshould I do?
Someone's on that?
Someone's on that.
What do I do?
What do I do?
What do I do?
Oh my god, what machine shouldI do?
Someone's on that?
Someone's on that.
What do I do?
What do I do?
What do I do?
Oh my god, I'm just gonna go onthe treadmill.
You save all that energy andyou actually put it into the
workout where you can properlyfocus on your form, give enough
energy into the workout.
(07:37):
So you see how that happens, because we do have a lot of
energy drains throughout the daythat I don't even think we're
aware of, and that that's why weultimately end up making poor
decisions.
And it's not necessarily thatwe end up making poor decisions.
It's usually the easy, quickchoices are not as great for us.
Right, like run through thedrive-thru, like I love the
(07:58):
convenience of it and I'm soglad that we have that ability.
But if you do that all the timeyou're going to get like crappy
, lacking nutrient food that'sgoing to leave you hungry and
have a ton of calories for nonutrition, and then you're going
to gain weight right, butyou're paying the trade-off of
that quick, tasty food for theconvenience, right?
There's always a trade-off,there's always a balance for
(08:19):
everything.
So this really is a process anddon't expect it to happen
overnight.
But, again, take some time.
Because this has been happeningwith me and I think you'll know
like, for me, things felt alittle bit more chaotic, a
little bit disorganized.
I'm like what's going on here?
Then I started looking atthings and I'm like, okay, I
need to change the way that I'mdoing things.
(08:40):
And I always encourage that.
We're always kind of self-awareof our lives.
We're constantly doing littlecheck-ins with ourselves, seeing
what is going really well, whatcan you improve?
Right, and we're just gonna bemore efficient and tighten up on
things.
And I'll give you a perfectexample.
So for me, teaching a groupclass.
A typical person might notrealize what goes into creating
(09:01):
a group class, right?
You think, oh well, they're atrainer, they just come in, they
throw on some music and theyjust have fun.
You know, you get to work out.
You're getting paid to work out.
Everybody's having a great timeand, yes, it is that.
But to have a great classthere's actually a lot of
planning that goes into teachinggroup fitness.
(09:22):
I handp pick my playlists basedoff of the crowd, uh, based off
of the vibe, like the energy ofthe class.
I make sure that I'm notplaying the same songs all the
time.
I'm trying to add new ones andresearch the right ones.
You know you want to make sureit's friendly for everybody.
There's no swearing, the beat'sgood, maybe some throwbacks,
maybe some newer stuff, um, forthe actual programs, again same
(09:47):
thing.
You got to make sure, uh, thestructure is right, you're not
doing too much arms, too muchlegs, too much abs.
You got to take into accountany injuries, all skill levels,
um, equipment that's available, timing, uh, you know, again,
trying not to do too much of thesame thing, switching it up,
making things fun.
So there is a planning elementto it.
And with the playlists I wasgetting a little stressed out
(10:10):
because I would kind of make theplaylist last minute.
Um, and I do it through Spotifyand the way Spotify is made.
I would queue up songs, so I'dhave them in my queue so they
would just play through.
But what I decided to do tomake it a little more efficient
is I actually decided to createa playlist for each class I have
.
So that way I had before I hada master playlist.
(10:33):
I was like these are classworkout songs.
Um, you know, there was liketwo or 300 songs in there, um,
and I would just hand pick them.
Now I have a specific playlistfor each class that I can kind
of add the songs into each week,so then that way when I go in,
I could go oh, this is myplaylist already done for
Tuesday, play it.
(10:54):
My playlist for Wednesday isgood.
I don't have to worry about, you know, queuing up songs.
I just sit down, pick the songsI want for each class and it's
done.
And then that way I can lookfor the next week and go this is
what we listened to.
Let me switch it up.
Here's how I can make thatdifferent, right?
So, um, yeah it, it really.
You know, it's something stupidthat you think, oh, this is just
random, but it was a time drainfor me.
(11:16):
Um, you know, I was doing itlast minute.
It was creating chaotic energy.
Now, it's one of those seamlessthings, that if I take the time
to do it ahead of time, it willsave me that mental drain.
Right, I was definitely havinga lot of mental drains, and it
comes down to systems.
So always ask yourself, whatwould this look like if it were
(11:38):
easy?
And a lot of the greatestpeople do when they're making
inventions, when they'recreating new plans, when they're
making inventions, when they'recreating new plans, when you
know, and sometimes again, theanswer we think it's going to be
this complex thing, this wehave to create this whole new
thing.
It has to have a billion steps, when in reality, sometimes it's
simple.
And I think that's also anissue is we shouldn't always
(12:01):
look to what we can add to ourroutine, but we also need to
look at what we can take away, what we need to do less of,
because through our lives wecollect these new habits, these
new things, and we do more, more, more, more, more, but we
forget to let go of the thingsthat no longer serve us, right?
So so again, it's a constantevaluation, a constant balance.
(12:22):
You know, and maybe we losethings through a more efficient
system.
Right, you're losing somethingthrough that more efficient
system.
It streamlines it, it cutsthings away.
You kind of chop back somethings and then maybe we add in
some good, take away some bad.
You set some boundaries.
You're not going through thedrive through as much.
You're not scrolling on yourphone as much.
(12:43):
Maybe, instead of one hour ortwo hours of Netflixflix, you're
only going to do one hour.
So then that frees up your hourto maybe read, unwind before
bed.
There's just so manyopportunities, um, throughout
your life and unfortunately Ican't give super concrete um
examples for this.
I'm trying to give some genericexamples because everybody's
life is different and I thinkthat's probably why everybody
(13:05):
struggles, because there's notnecessarily like a template to
follow.
It's not like, hey, uh, if youwant to stream a lot in your
life, this is exactly what youwant to do.
Uh, if you do that, you get thepeople that are like I wake up
at 4 am and run 20 miles everyday and that is why I'm
successful.
It's like, no, what it reallyis, that they found something
that works for them.
(13:26):
Right, so this requires someinner work you to look at your
life and your systems and saywhat would this look like if it
were easy Family, friends, work, personal life, love life,
hobbies look at it all Fitness, nutrition, you know, mindset.
Look at it all and think islook at it all and think is
there somewhere that you, youknow, pick the one that needs it
(13:48):
the most and streamline asystem?
Think what would this look likeif it were easy.
Hop onto chat gpt, it's free.
Um, maybe brainstorm with him, say, hey, I'm struggling with
fitness, what's a way I canstreamline my routine and you
can even type out what you'recurrently doing?
You'd be surprised.
I like the way that chat gpt isalmost like a human google, if
that makes sense, like googleanymore is just like ads you
(14:11):
have to like, really look to getgood search results on google.
So chat gpt is more so like old, old school google, but the
answers are conveyed back to youas if you were speaking to a
human, which I really love.
So you can ask it anything thatyou would type into Google, but
he'll give you back like anactual, legitimate, well thought
out response.
You don't have to do anysearching through all these
articles and click on all theseweb pages and do that.
(14:34):
That's what.
That's what I would recommend.
You know, play around with thatand just brainstorm, brainstorm
on your own, see, see whathappens, and hopefully that'll
make your life easier and alittle more streamlined.
All right, you put your energytowards things that you want to
do, to grow and even just relaxand enjoy your life, all right.
So that is my thought for today, especially during this busy
(14:55):
holiday season when I'mrecording, so I hope that that
helps you out a little bit.
If you did enjoy this episode, feel free to let me know.
There's a little link for fanmail below where you can send me

please feel free to share.
That is how more people hearabout this.
I don't make money off of thispodcast or anything.
I simply do it for the joy, allright.
(15:17):
So again, have a great rest ofyour day and week and I will
chat with you soon.
Bye.
