Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey guys, welcome
back to another episode of the
Tea with Tina podcast.
Just wanted to come on for athought that popped into my head
and a little bit of tough love, but nobody is going to save you
.
That may sound harsh, butnobody is coming to save you.
I will tell you that assomebody who is a very loving,
(00:24):
empathetic coach and doeseverything in her power to help
people.
It is true when they say youknow you can lead a horse to
water, but you can't make themdrink.
You can make them really, really, really thirsty, but you
ultimately can't make them drink.
And what that means is that thedecision to change and move
(00:45):
forward and show up is on you,and that can be hard.
Taking the first step is hardand a lot of it 99% of it is in
your mind.
Your mind is blowing things outof proportion, telling you you
can't do this, you don't haveenough time, You're afraid,
You're vulnerable and you almostfeel frozen.
But if you can shove all thatdown, you know metaphorically,
(01:09):
if you work out at home but, forinstance, walking through the
doors of the gym is winning over50% of the battle.
Once you do that and onceyou're there, the likelihood
that you're actually going to doa workout goes up extremely.
The hardest part is walkingthrough those doors.
The hardest part is setting upfor your at-home workout and
getting it done.
But you know what, Once you doit once, twice, 10 times, 30
(01:32):
times, 100 times, nine plusyears, like me Well, actually
we're going on like 13 years ifwe count working out, not just
being a trainer it gets easier.
Not saying you don't haveshitty days, not saying you
don't feel like garbagesometimes or self-conscious
(01:52):
sometimes, but the ability topush past those feelings gets
easier and you just show up likeyou're brushing your teeth,
like you have to do the dishes, like you have to go to work.
You just show up and do itbecause it something you need to
do.
Going back to the nobody cansave you.
The reason I'm saying this isbecause I do try my damnedest
(02:14):
and sometimes I maybe try alittle bit too much.
I might have clients that areconstantly canceling or
rescheduling or maybe they havevery unique situations going on
and I'm usually very adaptive tothat and I'm patient with that.
But I've noticed that no matterhow much I accommodate, unless
they make the decision to showup, unfortunately they're not
(02:37):
going to progress.
I can create the perfectenvironment for them and I hope
that that makes the situationeasier.
But ultimately, again, you haveto decide to show up.
You have to decide that, hey,I'm going to do the workouts
Like, I can provide the workouts, I can provide the most amazing
nutrition plan in the world andit's worthless if you don't
(03:00):
show up and do it.
That's why I just encouragepeople to start simple.
It may sound stupid to just, you know, drink your water or,
you know, walk 10 minutes.
You know, because you're like,oh well, I want to do a full
blown workout, but I'm tellingyou, just show up, put the reps
in, because you're laughing, everybody's sitting on the couch
, you're pushing past thatdiscomfort and it will pay off,
(03:22):
but nobody's going to do it foryou.
We can set it up.
I can come to your house, dragyou out of your house, we can
sit in the gym together.
But if you don't make thedecision to move your body, if
you don't make the decision tobuy the healthier food, prep the
meals, rest better, manage yourstress, it's not going to
happen.
So you have to make thedecision and, unfortunately, the
(03:43):
reason we often don't make thatdecision is because the pain of
where we're at isn't greatenough.
Yet that's sad.
The pain of the situation we'reat is not great enough to make
us want to change.
Why is it when smokers have ahole in their throat where they
have a little device, but theystill continue to smoke?
And they have cancer butthey'll still continue to smoke?
(04:07):
A diabetic that has his legchopped off?
He still continues to drinksugar or consume sugar.
There's a lot of reasons forthat.
Some of it may be mental, Someof it may be willpower, Some of
it could actually truly be achemical imbalance.
But I always lead back to thefoundations of being a healthy
human Moving your body, Managingstress, Getting enough rest and
(04:30):
recovery, treating yourselffirst, being the best you so you
can show up as your best selffor everybody else, Feeding your
body with nourishing foods.
You have to give yourself afighting chance.
You can't really make aneducated decision unless you set
a good foundation first, because you'll never know how
(04:51):
you truly feel, and many of ushave adapted to the crappy
situations that we put ourselvesin.
Whether it's super high stress, you know we're just running
around too much, not gettingenough sleep.
It's just become our new normalthat we're not even aware it's
damaging us.
So, you know, my tip for you isif you're feeling stuck, if
you're feeling like you can'tget moving, start with something
(05:12):
simple Make the choice.
Push through the discomfortBecause just start, Just get the
ball rolling and again decidethat you're going to make that
choice Because no one else isgoing to do it for you.
Okay, and with that I think I'mgoing to wrap that up.
Just a little thought for youguys.
I hope you have a great rest ofyour
