In this episode we chat with Dr Rebecca Pinkus about her undergraduate and postgraduate experiences in Canada in comparison with undergraduate life in Sydney. Dr Pinkus takes us through the importance of building and maintaining relationships at university, and the impact of social comparison.
Dr Pinkus is a senior lecturer and Honours Coordinator in the school of psychology at the University of Sydney. Dr Pinkus’ research focuses on social cognition within the context of close relationships – in particular how individuals balance concerns about the self with concerns about the relationship. Dr Pinkus’ research interests also include body image and weight stigma. Dr Pinkus completed a Bachelor Science (Honours) at the University of Western Ontario, followed by a Masters and PhD at the University of Toronto, and a postdoc at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
