called the cable guy recently with a quick question about
setting up a new service. I'd worked all day and
was tired. I was being extra nice. Instead of a
pleasant response in return, the cable guy simply sounded mad.
I gave him a chance to change his tone, but
it was an epic fail. I finally confronted him. Why
are you so mad at me, I asked. I'm not mad,

one thing when it comes to speaking with others, you
are as mad as you sound. You might think that
you're being kind, but your words and your tone will
