13 settembre di 40 anni fa, nel 1983, fece la sua prima apparizione in Giappone sulla rivista Weekly Shōnen Jump della casa editrice Shūeisha il manga di Ken il guerriero (Hokuto no Ken) scritto da Buronson e disegnato da Tetsuo Hara, originariamente pubblicato nel Sol Levante in 245 capitoli tra il 1983 e il 1988 e in seguito raccolti in 27 volumetti tankōbon.
