Il film è ambientato a Tokyo e racconta la vita semplice e ripetitiva di Hirayama, un addetto alla pulizia dei bagni pubblici del Tokyo Toilet Project, che si trovano nella grande area di Shibuya.
Un semplice spaccato di vita che racchiude più di qualche riflessione, oltre che una colonna sonora spettacolare che va da Lou Reed ai Rolling Stones a Patti Smith.
