Welcome to total disclosure. For UFOs, cover ups and conspiracy
collide with truth. If you're ready to go deeper, don't forget.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Leave us a review.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
It helps bring it these hidden stories to more eyes
and ears.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Let's get started.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Today's retelling is one that is truly amazing. The incident
at Exeter, a UFO that was seen by several people,
including two police officers, one of them a US Air
Force veteran. Not located far away from the incident itself
(00:56):
was p's Air Force piece, home to the B two bomber.
The Northeast has always carried a strange allure for the unexplained.
(01:18):
Maybe it's the isolation pockets of wilderness where the night
truly is dark.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Maybe it's the water, vast.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Networks of lakes, rivers and the jagged Atlantic coast, or
maybe it's something else. Nineteen sixty one, just four years
before Exeter, Betty and Barney Hill reported being abducted by
non human beings in the White Mountains of New Hampshire,
(01:49):
a case so detailed and haunting it became one of
the most famous in history. Go back further eighteen seventy
you'll find the first known photograph of a UFO, taken
atop Mount Washington, a strange cigar shaped object floating in
(02:09):
the sky. Over the decades, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
they've all produced reports that line up eerily well, almost
as if something is mapping this region, visiting it repeatedly,
which brings us to Exeter. Late August nineteen sixty five,
(02:34):
reports begin filtering in not one, not two, but dozens
of sightings. Strange lights maneuvering low in the night sky,
no sound.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
No clear source.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Military aircraft scrambled from PA's Air Force base. Locals calling
the police in hushed, uneasy voices. These were not single moments.
This was a pattern, night after night, And then then
came September third.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Norman Muscarello.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
He was an eighteen year old man hitch hiking home
to Exeter from Amesbury, mass It was after midnight, the
road empty, just a dim glow of distant farmhouses. As
he passed a darkened field, something caught his eye. Five
brilliant red lights hovering above the trees. They weren't stationary.
(03:39):
They moved in formation, swaying back and forth, dipping low
towards the ground, and then they began moving toward him.
He described them as brighter than anything he had ever seen,
so bright they lit the trees in the ground around
him in an other worldly read. Panicked, Norman dove into
(04:05):
a roadside ditch, heart hammering in his ears, waiting for
the light to pass, But they didn't vanish. They moved deliberately,
like they were aware of him. When the lights finally
disappeared over the tree line, Norman ran as fast as
(04:25):
he could into Exeter, barging his way into the police station.
He told Officer Reginald Toland what had happened. Toldan listened
carefully and called in another officer.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Eugene Bertrand, Junior.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Bertrand's face changed as Norman spoke of the incident. Just
hours earlier, Bertrand himself had been on patrol when he
encountered a woman parked on the roadside.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Terrified, she told him a.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Huge, silent object with red lights had paced her car
for miles before vanishing, stalking her vehicle.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Bertrand had chalked it up to nerves until now.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Officer Bertrand decided to take Norman back to the scene.
Another officer, David Hunt, joined them. The three men drove
out to the spot, Norman indicated, stepping out into the
cool September night. At first nothing, then without warning, the
(05:39):
lights appeared, five blazing red spheres, moving in unison, low
and silent. They rose and fell in the sky with
a strange but deliberate rhythm, tilting slightly as they moved.
The officer swore it was no aircraft they'd ever seen,
(06:01):
and Bertrand, a former Air Force gunner, later said it
moved in complete silence, not the faintest hum of engines
or roders, any discernible means of propulsion. They watched almost
spellbound until the object suddenly shot away at an incredible speed,
(06:24):
vanishing over the trees. All three men went on to
file official reports that night. The Air Force got involved quickly.
Exerter was only a short drive from PA's Air Force Base,
home to nuclear armed B forty seven bombers Project blue Book.
(06:48):
The Air force's official UFO investigation dispatched officers to interview
the witnesses. The conclusion well the sightings are possibly due
to the lights of an air Force KC ninety seven
refueling plane.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
But there was a problem.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
The KC ninety seven was loud, very loud. These lights
were silent. The maneuvers reported were impossible for a plane
of that size, of any size, really, and no scheduled
flights matched the exact time nor location of the exeter sighting.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Was this a one off?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
No reports of glowing red lights, low silent craft came
from nearby towns in the days before and after September third.
Some hovered over farms, others were seen darting into wooded areas.
In the Northeast corridor from the White Mountains down through
(07:57):
Massachusetts has been a hotspot for decades, multiple cases, all
of them involved in aircraft near water, whether it was rivers,
lakes or the coastline. Some UFO researchers believe water is
a key element, maybe a resource, a hiding place, or
(08:18):
even a means of travel. With PA's Air Force base
and proximity storing nuclear weapons during the Cold War, the
possibility of yet another connection, this one to national security.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Looms large.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
This was also just five years after the famous nineteen
sixties wave of UFO sightings across the United States.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
In the military. They were on high alert. The Exeter
incident stands.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
As one of the most credible UFO sightings in US history,
multiple train deservers, physical proximity, corroborating reports, and yet no
official explanation that matches any of the witness testimony, nor does.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
It explain any of it away.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Today, almost sixty years later, Exeter embraces its place in
UFO history with an annual festival where experiencers, researchers, and
the simply curious gather under those same skies, skies that,
if the reports are to be believed, still hold secrets
(09:37):
and maybe, just maybe the lights will return. I'm Ty Robertson.
This is total disclosure. The truth is out there, and
sometimes it's closer than you think.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I hope you.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Enjoyed today's retelling of the Exeter UFO Incident. I wanted
to tell this story in part because it is close
to me and it is close to home, but also
because the next episode that will come out on an
audio feed is my live podcast from the stage at
(10:17):
the Exeter UFO Festival. I was asked to participate, and
since I don't give lectures, I decided a live podcast
would be great. And it features Steve Bassett as well
as Nat and Jeans Sticko. And then at the end
we allow for some audience questions. I hope you enjoy
(10:39):
the next couple episodes. MY name's Tyler.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
This is total disclosure.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Keep looking up, but also look inside.
