How can a team with so much potential find themselves in such a precarious position? Join me, James Johnson, for a solo episode on the Touchdown Jaguars podcast as I discussed the Jags' rocky path so far. From a disheartening 1-5 record to a tough loss against the Chicago Bears in London Sunday, I dissected the game's unexpected twists and what went wrong. We'll also delve into the off-field drama, including notable comments from owner Shad Khan and player Andre Cisco, alongside the implications of trading Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Jaguars' offensive woes continue to be a hot topic, and we leave no stone unturned. Trevor Lawrence's valiant efforts are juxtaposed against Evan Ingram's impressive return, while Gabe Davis's inconsistent play raises eyebrows. We'll question the curious roster choices, like favoring D'Ernest Johnson over Tank Bigsby, and the defensive penalties that paved the way for the Bears' victory. With Travis Etienne likely to sidelined due to injury, there's a spotlight on Tank Bigsby's opportunity to shine, and the importance of managing injuries to players like Tyson Campbell becomes ever more pressing.

Amidst the turmoil, we examine the bigger picture, questioning the Jaguars' cultural and managerial challenges. Are Doug Pederson and Trent Baalke the right leaders for this struggling team? Shad Khan's questionable support of the duo is put under the microscope, as we explore the potential need for a fresh start and new leadership. With Andre Cisco's candid insights, we paint a comprehensive picture of a team in need of transformation. As we edge closer to our milestone 100th episode, we remain committed to supporting the Jaguars community through these turbulent times.

James Johnson and Phil Barrera bring you the best and most up to date Jacksonville Jaguars news. "Touchdown Jaguars!" is a tribute to the prospective ownership group "Touchdown Jacksonville!" In 1991, the NFL announced plans to add two expansion teams and "Touchdown Jacksonville!" announced its bid for a team, and Jacksonville was ultimately chosen as one of five finalists. In November 1993, the NFL owners voted 26–2 in favor of awarding the 30th franchise to Jacksonville. James and Phil have been fans of the franchise ever since and have had the honor (and sometimes dishonor) of covering the team professionally since 2017. The rest as they say, is history.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
You Touchdown Jacksonville play action looking
for jimmy in the end zone.
Touchdown jaguars.
Welcome to the touchdownjaguars podcast.
Here your are your hosts, jamesJohnson and Phil Smith.

(01:08):
All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Touchdown
Jaguars podcast.
I am your host for today, riding this one solo, james
Johnson.
As you all know, I'm normallyjoined by my co-host, phil Smith
, who had to miss out this week.
He had to do some travelingthis weekend and what have you.

(01:28):
So I told him to not even worryabout it and have to.
You know, come home fromtraveling and then record.
I let my guy know I can hold itdown for this episode and,
quite frankly, he didn't missmuch.
Right, because, as we all knowhere, on what was it?
Week six, the JacksonvilleJaguars fell to the Chicago

(01:50):
Bears over across the pond inthe UK at Tottenham Hotspur
Stadium, to the Chicago Bears bya score of 35 to 16.
And I mean really, what can Isay, aside from?
You know, they just added tothe list of disappointments that
we have seen on this year orthat have occurred this year,

(02:13):
putting them at a record of onein five, which nobody expected
them to be there at this pointof the season, but nonetheless,
we will talk about the game andbreak that down, as well as
we'll talk about some otherthings too, because you know,
the game itself kind of, youknow, was expected.
I don't know if we expectedthem to get beat that badly, but

(02:37):
it was expected.
In terms of, you know, thejaguars, they were coming off
the win with the Colts.
I don't think anybodynecessarily put too much into
that win.
When you look at thecircumstances of the Colts and
also just how the JacksonvilleJaguars ended that game, they
almost gave it away, despite theColts being understaffed and

(02:58):
undermanned.
So, you know, nobody really puta lot into it and thought
something would come of it.
And, as I said in last week'spodcast, you know it was good to
get a win, but we reallycouldn't take anything from that
win for those reasons and itnever really meant anybody was
off the hook Right In terms of,or anybody should be off the

(03:21):
hook in terms of, the regimethere Doug Peterson, trent
Baalke and what have you.
So we're not completelysurprised about the result being
a loss, but more so I guesswhat we'll talk about when we do
the game breakdown is how theylost is more so the big deal
there.
But we also have some otherthings to talk about, because

(03:43):
the game itself wasn't the onlynotable event of the week in
terms of there was some thingssaid by shot come which we'll
get into at the end of theepisode.
Some things said about shot con, who you know is doing media
rounds.
It's kind of rare that he doesthem, but when they go over
there across the pond to londonthey do do media rounds with

(04:04):
your first coast news is of theworld and the Florida Times
Union, and he made someinteresting comments that are
definitely noteworthy and needto be gone over or reviewed or
discussed in this podcast madeby a player in Andre Sisco some

(04:28):
post-game comments made by AndreSisco after we review the game
as well, because, again, thoseare just as important kind of as
what Shotgun said as well.
So we got some media relatedcomments and some media related
stuff to go through this week aswell, and also before we even
get into the review.
The first thing that I want todo is I want to go over some
trade news that occurred thisweek, as Roy Robertson Harrison

(04:48):
was traded to the SeattleSeahawks, and this comes after
the Jaguars lost to the Bears,so you know he has to fly back
to America and then fly toSeattle and so on and so forth.
So the timing was kind weird, but I don't think we're like
completely surprised or shockedby it.
But you know that was somenotable news that needs to be

(05:09):
reviewed as well, that we'lldiscuss on this podcast too.
But before we get into all ofthat, of course I need to plug
the many outlets in which youcan get connected with us
through, most notably on Twitter.
You can find me at sports grindunderscore done on Twitter.
You can find Phil at Phil theFilipino on Twitter, and the

therefore keep you in the loopof what's going on and the
latest in news with theJacksonville Jaguars on a

(06:15):
week-to-week basis, also, ofcourse, before we get into the

which is SeatGeek, who havepretty much been with us
throughout most of the ride herewith the Touchdown Jaguars

(06:37):

They got you covered for all 32teams in terms of your
ticketing needs there or in thesports realm in general, whether

(06:57):
it's the NBA, which the NBAseason is about to start there.
You know in the preseason rightnow but it'll be um, it won't
be too soon where we arewatching official nba regular
season games in the near future.
They got you covered with yourmlb stuff.
I know.
You know we're in the playoffsright now, so you know if you're
trying to get a good deal onsome playoff tickets, feel free

(07:20):
to check um, to check outatGeekand see if they can help you

(07:40):

It'll work either way.
Again, that's touchdown Jaguarsand you'll save yourself $20 on
your first seat geek order.
So again, you know, with thoseplayoff tickets they can get a
little expensive.
You know, at least saveyourself $20.

(08:01):
So you can get you, you know, some, some snacks or some food
at the game, whatever the casemay be.
I know $20, so you can get you,you know, some, some snacks or
some food at the game, whateverthe case may be.
I know $20 don't stretch a lot,but again, you know, we're just
trying to help you get in thereand get down there in a
discounted rate.
So, all of that said, let's getinto the actual show and we will
start, as I mentioned, with theRoy Robertson Harrison uh, roy

(08:22):
Robertson Harris trade, as hewas traded yesterday, on the
14th.
I'm recording this on the 15th.
I've been, I've been ratherbusy.
Normally we try and record thisas soon as possible, but excuse
the delay on it.
But on the 14th of October theJacksonville Jaguars did go

(08:43):
ahead and get rid of RoyRobinson Harris, who had been a
little bit of a misfit under thenew scheme.
They're sending them to theSeattle Seahawks and what the
Jaguars will be receiving interms of compensation.
According to Tom Pelissero andIan Rappaport support and Mike

(09:08):
Garofalo the big three with theNFL network the Jacksonville
Jaguars will be receiving a 2026six rounder.
So that'll be what in two moreyears, basically that they'll
get that, but I guess probablymore so.
The big deal here is that theJacksonville Jaguars are, you
know, getting a player out ofhere who didn't really fit the
scheme, as I previouslymentioned, and also to the.

(09:28):
I guess the bigger deal is thatthey're getting his contract
off of the books as well, whichthey, you know, recently gave
him an extension in what was it?
2023.
He signed in 2021.
They gave him an extension liketwo years later, so that would
have been, yeah, 2023.
And it will help them from acap perspective, even though

(09:48):
they have to eat some deadsalary cap for it.
In 2024, they'll be eatingthree point five million in dead
cap and in 2025, six point ninemillion.
However, roy Robertson Harris, who, if I I can recall, was a
former captain, uh now gets abreath of fresh air.
Uh, gets to go to a team inwhich has a chance to go to the

(10:13):
playoffs.
They currently are sitting atthree and three and that ties
them with the San Francisco49ers in the NFC West um, and I
think the Cardinals might haveto win.
So they're just below that.
But you know he goes to a teamthat you know has a chance to go
to the playoffs and we wish himthe best of luck in that
process.
So, all of that said, I guesswhat I would say is the story,

(10:36):
more so with Roy RobertsonHarris, is something we'll talk
about later when we get into theshotgun comments, but you know
it just further drives home thepoint that Trent Baalke needs to
be out of here.
This is a guy that Trentbrought in under the Urban Meyer
regime when Urban Meyer was thehead coach, liked him so much

(10:58):
until, you know, they gave himan extension.
So this is a guy that theJaguars have given two contracts
, have paid twice in terms ofmajor contracts, and Trent
Baalke signed off on that.
And you know, I get it.
He's not a scheme fit with thecurrent scheme, but, as we
mentioned earlier in a podcast,it might have been two or three
podcasts ago, but you know, according to I think it was Pete

(11:24):
Prisco, correct me if I'm wrong, but according to Pete Prisco,
you know Trent Baalke had a lotto do with Ryan Nielsen coming
in and even, if I can recall, sat in on the interviews with
Ryan Nielsen.
The new defensive coordinatorsat in on those interviews and
what have you?
And you know the importance ofthat is not only you know that,

(11:47):
according to, you know somebodywho was connected to the jaguars
, or well, connected to thejaguars was it your choice to
bring in nelson?
But also, to you know, early inthe stages of him coming in,
you had the opportunity tounderstand the scheme and
schematics that he would bringand you willingly brought him in
, knowing what you had just paidRoy Robertson Harris in terms

(12:09):
of an extension and knowing thathe might be a misfit for this
scheme.
So it's kind of not makingsense from that perspective, but
still, this just shows you howunorganized things have been
that Trent Baalke has placed hishands on here.
You have a guy who he has paidtwice and now he's sending him

(12:32):
out of here.
So the puzzling decisionscontinue and you know it'll be
interesting to see if this leadsto what Phil labeled as like a
garage sale or whatever the casemay be, I don't know, like they
could be.
You know Demetrius was sayingDemetrius of the Florida times
union, shout out to him.
We're saying that like they're.
You know they're playing fortheir jobs still.

(12:53):
So you know, this move to tradeRoy Robertson Harrison doesn't
necessarily mean that a garagesale is coming.
But you know, we'll see in timeWe'll tell.
One thing is for sure thatOctober and November are going
to be interesting months for theJacksonville Jaguars and what
they decide to do in terms ofthe mess that they have on their

(13:16):
hands with Trent Baalke andDoug Peterson.
So that was the first topic athand that I wanted to discuss.
Next we will get into the gameitself.
I'll pull up the box score here.
As I said earlier, theJacksonville Jaguars fell to the
Chicago Bears at TottenhamHotspur Stadium by a score of 35

(13:36):
to 16.
This is just one of two UKgames that they will play, uk
games that they will play.
Of course they will be going tothe Wembley Stadium for the
next game, which is technicallythe Jazz home in UK.
I know a lot of people don'tlike to say that, but
technically it is and that willbe their home game.

(13:57):
They will play the New EnglandPatriots, who have recently made
a change with Drake May, but Idigress from my point.
We'll talk about that next week.
In terms of what happened thisweek and the catastrophe that
took place on the field thisweek or on Sunday, the
Jacksonville Jaguars fell to theChicago Bears and it was

(14:18):
another one that just leftJacksonville Jagadwars fan just
eager for the season to end.
In terms of the statistics,we'll just briefly go through
them.
Trevor Lawrence was 23 or 25,had a pick through two
touchdowns probably should havehad more touchdowns, which we'll
get into in a little bit aswell, so he led the way there.

(14:39):
Mac Jones got into the game, but he only got one pass off, so
no significant stats from him.
In terms of the rushing, dearnest Johnson led the way for
.
The Jacksonville Jaguars hadsix carries for 28 yards, which
that's a topic in itself thatDaniel Griffiths actually
brought up, being that, you know, dearnest, actually I'll have

(15:03):
to go back and look at the tweet, but I think Dearness got more
snaps than Tank Bigsby, whichabsolutely makes no sense, and
we got to get Daniel Griffithsback on this show.
By the way, he's good with thenumbers and statistics man Shout
outs to him.
But Tank Bigsby wasn't farbehind seven carries for 24
yards.
One of the standouts of the game, despite how it went, evan

(15:25):
Ingram.
He returned from his hamstringinjury that he sustained um some
weeks ago during pre-gamewarm-ups.
Um, he led the way with 10receptions for the Jacksonville
Jaguars for 102 yards and and hedidn't come away with a
touchdown, but his impact wasdefinitely felt.
Again, you know, I know a lotof people will probably say hey,

(15:46):
you know, the game got out ofhand at some point.
But even when the game was inhand, he helped the Jaguars with
some key conversions and movingthe ball down the field.
Not too far behind him was GabeDavis.
We'll talk about him a littlebit.
He did all in two touchdowns.
Should have had more than thatbut, hauled in two touchdowns,
had five receptions for 45 yards.

(16:08):
Brian Thomas Jr couldn't quiteget going like he had been, you
know, leading into this game.
He lefta touchdown on the fieldbecause he dropped one as well,
but he registered threereceptions for 27 yards.
And then, on the defensive end,um, I guess this won't come as
a surprise, but leading the wayin tackles was ventrell miller.

(16:29):
He got double digit tackleswith 10 and uh, you know he's a
guy that just continues to bearound the ball um, although the
Bears did put up 35 points onit.
So, in terms of just gettinginto a review of this game, I
think, when you look at howthings went offensively, what I

(16:50):
will say is that it felt likeTrevor Lawrence did everything
within his power and, you know,he kind of used the momentum
from the previous game, but hedid everything in his power to
get the jaguars a win.
Now, of course, as I said, hehad a pick earlier.
Um, at that point it wasprobably because he was pressing

(17:12):
, you know, trying toovercompensate, for you know
what had been going on and justmake up what was a gap in the
score and come from behind.
But again, you don't want tolet him off the hook completely,
but it feels like that is whathappened, because previously he

(17:32):
was putting the ball where itneeded to be and I think the
story of the game was there werea lot of drops in this game,
some of which that came when thegame was within reach.
Now, some of them came when thegame was out of reach as well,
but the first, most crucial dropwas in the first drive
offensive drive of the gamewhere Gabe Davis did drop.

(17:52):
One hit him square in the handsand I get it.
You know his vision of the ballmay have been impaired slightly
by a defender that was reallyclose to breaking that up, but
as an NFL caliber receiver, ifit hits you in your hands or
your chest you got to come downwith it.
You know, and Kurt Warner evensaid it too, who was
commentating with Rick RichEisen at the time, like that's

(18:15):
why you got to have and that'swhat has played the Jacksonville
Jaguars throughout this processof the 2024 season.
He also he dropped one where itwas a deep pass and you know he
might have been at the two orthree when he caught it.
Trevor Lawrence put it on hisoutside shoulder, you know, near

(18:35):
the front pylon, not the backpylon but the front pylon, and
you, you know that one wentthrough gabe's hands as well,
right, you know, and that was abig play that could have helped
the jaguars.
Now when the second dropoccurred, I believe they were.
You know the game was kind ofgetting out of hand, but the
jaguars needed some explosiveplays at the time.

(18:56):
You know some quick scores atthe time and you know time was
an issue at that time.
So this play would have reallyhelped if they have even had a
chance of a comeback, but againit resulted in a drop.
So there was that play, and Imean just flat out.
You know we got to call it whatit is.
You know and we talked aboutTrent earlier and the Roy

(19:17):
Robinson Harris situation that'sone of the free agents he
brought in.
Gabe Davis is another one thathe's brought in that just quite
hasn't been able to make theplays that the Jags have needed
again.
Yeah, sure, he got the twotouchdowns that we mentioned,
but you know he left two on thefield too, or at least one on
the field.
You probably would think thatsecond one he dropped that I

(19:39):
mentioned is a touchdown as well.
So you know he left 14 pointson the field and you know you
add that to the jaguars totaland what are we at?
There are 30 points.
Right game is within reach.
So for the time being and Iknow you know we're only in week
six, but it looks like thatmoney is being wasted that was

(20:00):
going towards Gabe Davis.
Now, look man, he has all themotivation in the world, aside
from his contract, to turn itaround, get things right.
You know, because you know he'splaying for.
You know, essentially, the teamthat he grew up watching.
You know he's a, you know he'sfrom Fernandina Beach, not too
far from Jacksonville, so youknow things could turn around

(20:22):
and you're certainly rooting forhim.
But at the time being thatconnection between him and Trev
hasn't been what they paid for.
I guess is how I would put it.
And if it continues at thisrate, this is just another thing
to add to that list of issues.
With Trent Baalke, the therotation of receivers that have
come through here.
Right, he's tried everything tofix that position.

(20:44):
Brought in Ridley let him go tothe Titans brought in a veteran
in, marvin Jones, who you knoweventually you know he played
what two years with the team andthen he was gone.
Now you have Gabe Davis whowe're questioning.
Of course he'll be here, youknow, in the near future because
of his contract.
But now we're questioning ifhe's an answer at the

(21:07):
quarterback, at the widereceiver position as well.
And of course you know the onehit that Trent has had at the
receiver position and we talkedabout this before he drafted
brian thomas.
His history at receiver isterrible.
Brian thomas is the oneexemption where he's actually
made the right move, and you canargue that the titans kind of

(21:28):
swooped in and helped him tomake that right decision.
Of all teams the titans, right,we talked about that last week.
But the titans helped him makethat decision when they swooped
in and got calvin ridley at thelast minute, who is not doing
too well for them as well.
So they're paying him a lot ofmoney and he's not bringing in
the results that he was hopingfor or that they were hoping for

(21:48):
.
But what I'm saying is, ifreally doesn't get picked up by
the Titans, we don't have thebest receiver that Trent Baalke
has ever drafted, you know, andhe's been doing this for a very,
very long time, at least since2009 on the professional level,
right.
So that's telling of just hisstruggles at the wide receiver

(22:09):
position.
And Gabe Davis is now anotherone to add on that list, and you
know we can go into next yearstill saying we need receivers,
right?
Christian Kirk is a guy thatyou have to wonder is a trade
candidate with his salary andwhat have you.
So we don't know if he's along-term answer or how long
he'll be around.

(22:29):
We're back to square one wherewe were when Trent Baalke was
with Urban Meyer and, in hisbeginning stages, with Doug
Peterson, wondering who are thereceivers of the future for this
team.
We have one in Brian Thomas Jr.
His spot is solidified for thefuture, but aside from him there
are question marks.
So that just goes all into whatI was saying about.

(22:50):
You know, poor evaluations atthat position.
Now, on the Dearness thing andTank Bixby thing, I'm not sure
again.
I think Daniel said thatDearness got more snaps than
Tank.
Not sure why that happened, butI would think, heading forward,
I think we're going to see moreof Tank because ETN is now
dealing with a hamstring injury.

(23:11):
He's week to week and I wouldthink they don't want to push
him next week after he sustainedthe hamstring injury, because
hamstring injuries are reallytricky and you know they take
time.
Now it might not be anythingsevere, but it just wouldn't be
smart to put him in a game theweek after he sustained the
injury.
It's one of those things thatif it is week to week, you got

(23:34):
to be smart with it, because youdon't want to put him out there
on the field and make it asituation where he's dealing
with the injury even longer.
So you would think that TankBiggs be will get a majority of
the snaps.
The earnest will be backing himup and then they'll probably
get somebody off a practicesquad heading forward.
I mean they didn't IR Travisnecessarily, but that that's not

(23:58):
to say that he will play.
You know he very well be ruledout for the game and I wouldn't
be surprised if that's the case.
That's not me having anyinsight or information or
anything, but I'm just sayingthat you know a smart coach
would sit Travis Etienne, atleast for this week, and you
know time will tell if that'sthe case.
It was good in terms of what Iwas saying about Evan Ingram
good to have him back.

(24:19):
Will tell if that's the case.
It was good in terms of what Iwas saying about Evan Ingram,
good to have him back.
I think he'll really helpTrevor heading forward.
Don't know how many winsthat'll translate to, because
this team is just disjointed, but it was good to see him come
back and I'm glad they tooktheir time with bringing him
back from his injury, which wasa hamstring injury too.
And that kind of just kind offurther makes the point that I

(24:40):
was making for ETN.
Take your time with those kindsof injuries.
You could get a person back oryou can get a player back full
speed if you do so.
So we'll monitor the situationwith ETN.
But I'm certainly glad that youknow Evan Ingram was back and I
think they might be gettingTyson Campbell back soon from
his hamstring injury.

(25:00):
Again, you know you got to takeit slow with those injuries.
You don't rush the player back.
I know the Jaguars could reallyuse him, but having Tyson
Campbell back isn't going toreally veer this team from the
path they're on.
At this point they're one andfive right and they've gotten
blown out by two teams.
So you know you don't have torush him back.
Is the point I'm making there.

(25:21):
And then on the defensive side,I think the story more so was
just the.
It was this one stretch wherethe Jacksonville Jaguars could
not get the Bears off of thefield and it was because you
know they were in third downsituations where the Bears were
supposed to be packed up andgoing to the sideline.
The Bears offense at least, andyou know, because of penalties

(25:45):
and I think two of them wereRonald Darby the Bears were
given second chances and, if Ican recall, that led to the
Bears getting a touchdowneventually.
So I mean that kind of stuffcan't happen.
Three third downs, that youallow the Bears to come back on
the field when they could havebeen punting or you could have
made them settle for a fieldgoal, is that just goes to show

(26:08):
you how this season has gone forthe Jacksonville Jaguars.
And then you know you haveRonald Darby, who's a guy I
actually praised and I thoughthe was going to play better than
he did and better than he hasafter just looking at how he
looked with the Baltimore Ravens.
But he doesn't look nowhereclose to that guy and he's just
another free agent that Balkybrought in.

(26:28):
That you know, if you had anowner that not even necessarily
understood football, but just anowner with just common business
tact, right, right, that'ssomething that you would notice.
Right Is that?
You know, this is another freeagent that was brought in that
you obviously thought wouldstart a material Trent Baalke.

(26:48):
And he's not right, he'shurting the team, he's costing
the team and he's costing theteam in a big way.
And not to mention just, youknow, not just him, but how much
has Eric Armstead helped thisteam.
Right, that's another free agentacquisition they brought in as
well on the defensive side.
That was coming from a teamT-Wig says this all the time

(27:09):
that they brought in from a teamwith the winning culture,
something that they've kind ofemphasized.
He came from the 49ers.
That has been, for the mostpart, ineffective as well.
That has been for the most partineffective as well.
We all seen the clip of himbear crawling during, you know,
some pursuit of Caleb Williams, where it was just like a flat
out laughable clip, but you knowhe hasn't been effective and a

(27:32):
lot of it is too.
They're using them at defensiveend.
That man is not a defensive endwith a four man front.
Like, let's call it what it is.
But again, that goes back tolike, how were these discussions
not had?
If Trent Baalke had so muchinput or so much say, according
to Pete Prisco at least how wasthis not discussed and not

(27:53):
looked at and reviewed andconsidered when these
conversations were going downwith Ryan Nielsen before he was
hired and when he wasinterviewed?
Right?
How are we now at a place wherebut Eric Armstead is, you know,
is your defensive end three, and seeing way too many snaps at

(28:16):
the defensive end position, when we all know where his bread
and butter is and where he'smade his money.
And that's the from theinterior.
Again, it just puzzles me andI'm just at a loss for words
when looking at what's going onwith these free agents that the
Jacksonville Jaguars havebrought in.
So you know, this game was verytelling of you know his

(28:37):
performance, eric Armstead'sperformance and Ronald Darby's
performance as well, and youknow people are starting to
really really come around to theconclusion that we wasted a lot
of money this offseason and youknow, of course, down the road
you have to pay for it.
So we'll see if those two guyscan get things turned around.
I mean, that's really their.

(28:58):
All is to discuss with the gamewas, you know, the lack of
ability for the defense to getthe offense of the Bears off of
the field and the severalopportunities that they gave
them and the opportunities thatthe Jaguars left on the field
offensively through the passinggame.
So we'll see if they can cleanthat up against a young Patriots

(29:19):
team, a young Patriots teamthat will be starting a young
quarterback.
I mean it would probably be bestfor the Jacksonville Jaguars to
further make a statement.
I don't know if Shotgun isgoing to be oblivious to the
statement, but to further make astatement I don't know if Sean
Cunn is going to be oblivious tothe statement, but to further
make a statement.
It'd probably be best for themto lose that game to further
make a statement that not onlyis Doug a guy that they need to

(29:39):
get out of here, but TrentBaalke as well.
But we'll see Crazy thingshappen in London.
I wouldn't be shocked if theywon the game because of just how
they play in London, especiallyat Wembley Stadium.
But at the same time, you haveto look at this Bears game and
wonder if that will look like acrap show as well.
I guess time will tell andwe'll see on Sunday.

(30:00):
All right, and also before weveer away from the game and the
action that took place on thefield Sunday Also, as I
mentioned, I wanted to go backand discuss the comments that
we've all seen.
It's been making rounds onsocial media, whether it's
Jack's Twitter or not, but justreview or discuss the comments
made by Safety Andre Sisko, whohe was asked by Brent Martin of

(30:24):
Action News, jack's about whattook place on the field, saw on
the field and, um, you know, brent was simply saying, like,
hey, you guys are one in fiveand it should look way better
than the product that you guysare putting out there on the
field.
And I'm just paraphrasing Brenthere.
But you know, andre Sisko, whenasked you know about what he's
seeing and what's going on onthe field, andre then commented,

(30:48):
you know he said a multitude ofthings, but the key thing that
he came, that we came away withand that he said and I quote him
and end quote him on this is alot of quit, quote, unquote is
what he saw and that it was veryconcerning um on his part.
And you know those comments arejust another gallon of gasoline

(31:12):
to pour on how terrible thisseason has gone and you know the
fire that is brewing currentlyin terms of what's going on with
the Jacksonville Jaguarsorganization.
And of course, in modern timeswe have the ability, we have,
you know, all 22 film that wecan access.
I have an NFL network or NFLplus account myself and you know

(31:34):
we could post these things onsocial media and we can go back
and review it.
But you know, of course clipshave made the surface or have
been surfaced on social media, where you know you can see what
Andre Sisisco is talking about.
Right, and one thing aboutplaying safety people is you
know he does have a good vantagepoint of plays developing and

(31:58):
what's supposed to happen interms of getting those plays
stop, especially in the run game.
So for that to come from him, that's pretty significant
because the safety has a goodarguably the best vantage point
on a defense to see all 11players In most cases.
In most cases sometimes they'rea little bit closer to the line

(32:19):
of scrimmage, they can't seeeverything, but in most cases,
you know, they have a goodvantage point on seeing these
things and it's so dishearteningthat we've gotten to this point
.
Right, and those comments don'thelp jazz fans to feel any
better about what has been acrap show under doug peterson
and trent balky.
But those are the type ofcomments, right, that shot khan

(32:42):
can't be oblivious to wementioned earlier.
We mentioned shot khan beingoblivious.
That's the kind of stuff thathe can't be oblivious to, right
and ignore and allow to happenagain.
I know he doesn't understand agame of football like that and
he doesn't understand footballoperations, but those are common
sense type of comments that ahigher up cannot ignore at all

(33:05):
and it's just further proof thatsweeping changes not not a half
, but sweeping changes need tobe made, because you know, when
you talk about players notgiving their all, you know that
further goes into what Doug wassaying about the culture being
messed up.
That means you're, culturally,as a team, you may have the

(33:25):
worst culture of all 32 teams,or close to it.
Right, it may be some teams outthere with similar culture, but
you have to feel like, culturally, after hearing those
comments from Andre Cisco, ifthe Jaguars don't have the worst
culture in the NFL, they'reclose to it.
And while Sean Conn doesn'tknow the game of football, it's
ultimately that falls on himthat the culture got that way.

(33:49):
Right and his job as an owner.
You know and I know you canjust sit back and make money off
a poor product, but his job asan owner involves getting the
right people in place to avoidjust what Andre Sisko mentioned.
Right, even if you don't knowthe game of football, you can
always hire somebody that canhelp you mold the culture of

(34:11):
your football team and of thefootball operations side of
things.
And that's also a sign thatwhat you have there presently is
a massive failure and that goesfrom again like this, and this
is why sweeping changes needs tobe made.
That doesn't discount TrentBaalke out of the situation
Although coaches do have a greatsay in a culture for a team

(34:35):
that also doesn't discount TrentBaalke from the equation as
well, because you're notbringing in the players as a
talent evaluator, you're notbringing in the players that
come with the right mindset, culturally, and will come into
the organization and furtherevolve the culture, and that's
why that part falls on Trent, with Trent being the talent

(34:57):
evaluator and having the finalsaying.
Who comes into the organization?
From a player personnelperspective, that means that he
deserves just as much blame asDoug Peterson, and Doug Peterson
and the staff of coursedeserves some of the blame
because they allow it, right.
So you know, these are somethings that shotgun I'll be very

(35:21):
interested in, to see if itgoes in one ear and comes out of
the other, if it goes unnoticedor he's oblivious to it.
It.
But what andre cisco said issimply one of those things that
a reasonable owner can't ignoreand can can't let go unnoticed
or not do anything about it.
Which leads me to my next topicat hand, which is on shot con,

(35:42):
who he made some comments afteror, excuse me, before the game,
around 11 30 on saturday, beforethe game where um, you know
he's again, he's doing mediarounds because obviously they're
in London and you know when ateam goes to London they do get
the opportunity.
The media does get theopportunity to speak with
Shotgun because of, you know, the international game aspect of

(36:04):
the league being some of thatShotgun really advocates for and
you know you know he continuesto be on the forefront of the
NFL international platform.
So therefore, you know themedia does get opportunities to
speak with him and you know herevealed to the Florida Times
Union and Demetrius Harvey Shoutout to Demetrius Harvey, who

(36:26):
does good work for the FloridaTimes Union, for the Florida
Times Union In the process ofspeaking about the international
games and the Jaguars'relationship in London.
He was asked about the team'scurrent situation and where they
are at.
You know they were 1-4 at thetime but they're now 1-5.
And you know, in the process ofexpressing himself he also said

(36:46):
that you know he believes inDoug Peterson and Trent Baalke
and of course those commentsblew up on social media and a
lot of people had a lot ofthings to say, and rightfully so
I don't blame them one bit, butI just wanted to discuss those
comments and get my thoughts andinsight on those comments that
he made and, quite frankly, Itweeted about it and I did say

(37:11):
this.
For them to come out of a onein four hole at that time and
now it's one in five, if you'regoing to say anything as an
owner is probably best that youshow your support to what you
have, because you know you wantto encourage them in terms of
getting them out of thatsituation if it's a chance.
However, this is the key withit right.

(37:33):
In saying that and putting yourbelief in Doug Peterson and in
Trent Baalke, you're puttingyour faith in an unrealistic
situation that is going to behard to come from Again.
At that time, they were 1-4.
It hasn't been done many times,or we haven't seen it many
times, where a team has comefrom a one and four start or a

(37:54):
poor start.
I know the Jacksonville Jaguarsdid it two years ago, but
that's not ideal and that's nottypical right.
So for him to have faith thatthey can fix this situation in
Doug Peterson, the players andTrent Baalke, that's very
unrealistic and while they dohave an example where they have
been over to being able toovercome those odds right.

(38:14):
The fact of the matter is theJaguars the first time they did
that, they were the new kid onthe block, right, doug Peterson
it was his first year with theJacksonville Jaguars new scheme,
new defensive scheme, all ofthat good stuff offensive scheme
as well and, as we've seen inthe NFL, it's a little bit hard

(38:35):
to prepare and stop the unknown.
Right again, they were the newkid on the block.
They were kind of the fresh kidon the block, especially within
their division, and teams werestill I guess what I'm trying to
say is still trying to figurethem out.
Now that teams have figured themout, mike Caldwell has been
fired.
Right Now that teams, you know, got a year's worth of film on

(38:56):
them.
Mike Caldwell's out the door.
The offensive scheme currentlylooks like crap, although, again
, you know, as I said earlier, they left a lot of plays on the
field with drops and what haveyou.
But for the most part, theoffensive scheme has looked like
crap and I guess it'sirrelevant to mention the
defensive scheme on Ryan Nielsen, because he's a brand new
defensive coordinator thatwasn't around in 2017 or when in

(39:20):
Doug Peterson's first year, sowe won't mention that.
But what we're seeing, that isthat now that teams can identify
what the Jacksonville Jaguarsare, they've struggled
tremendously and it all startedlast year, basically, when they
went on that skid and couldn'tacquire another win or two to
get themselves in the playoffs.

(39:41):
So therefore, shotgun's faithin Trent Baalke and in Doug
Peterson is truly unrealistic.
Now I guess the key here is doesShotgun really believe what he
said, or was it?
You know, just as we say coachspeak or owner speak, or coach
talk or owner talk, in this caseit's hard to tell with him, and

(40:05):
that's crazy to say it's hardto tell with him.
But if he does truly believethey can get him, get themselves
out of this hole, then that's aproblem in itself.
And that's what has been theproblem for the jacksonville
jaguars for quite a long time isthat just ownership is, quite
frankly, clueless and they areabsolutely not going to climb

(40:27):
themselves out of this hole.
When you, when you look at whathas taken place beforehand,
right, there's no reason thatSean Conn should actually
believe it.
He may actually believe it, butthere's no reason that he
should believe that.
When you look at what has takenplace beforehand, from the skid
that I mentioned from last year, where you know they went on the

(40:47):
losing streak to all the way upuntil now.
We're talking about a team herewho has terrible clock
management.
Now a cultural issue that hasbeen put out to the light which
we already knew that, but thatcame to the light less than 20
or a little bit over, maybe 24hours or less than 24 hours,
after your comments came outfrom the Florida time union

(41:10):
about you believing in the team.
But there's a cultural issuethat has come to the light and
been revealed by the players andyour head coach, and you have a
GM who's poor at rosterbuilding and arguably poor at
player acquisition as well.
So there's that as well.
So when you factor those thingsinto the equation and just how

(41:31):
the team is looked and how theycan't get out of their own way,
and some other things that youcould put in there, there is no
way that he believes that alight switch is just going to
magically come on like that andthings will turn around.
But he he's going to be Sadlymistaken because the writing is

(41:53):
on the wall that his team can'tget back to where they were in
terms of where they were in thefirst year of Doug Peterson's
career here in the Jets with theJacksonville Jaguars and he's
going to continue to have towear egg on his face for these
comments that he's making.
You know the team is just gonnaTrent Baalke and Doug Peterson
and the team we're only gonnakeep embarrassing him the more

(42:15):
he has to come out and say stuff.
So why not nipping in the bud,get you a clean slate going with
everybody, clean the house out, start it from scratch.
You know time will tell.
You know we'll find out moreabout that in November and
December, but I just wanted toshare my comments on you.
You know Sean Cunn and what hesaid to the Florida Times Union.
So, all of that said, we'll goahead and wrap this episode up

(42:38):
