anyone looking to push theirboundaries and chase their goals
the power of motivation andinspiration, the fuel that
propels us forward.

our achievements, yet they'reoften misunderstood.

(00:46):
So today we'll break it alldown what's the difference
between motivation andinspiration, why they matter and
, most importantly, how we canharness the power of motivation
and inspiration to transform ourpersonal and professional lives
.
So if you're ready, let's begin.
Hello and welcome to anotherepisode of Transformative Living

(01:12):
Radio.
I'm Andre Flax, your host andcertified life and leadership
coach.
You know it's said thatmotivation and inspiration are
the two driving forces that fuelthe engines to personal and
professional success.
Yet these two terms are oftenmisunderstood, so today we want
to break down what they are, howthey differ and how we can

(01:35):
harness the power of both ofthem to transform our personal
and professional lives.
So let's start by clarifyingwhat motivation and inspiration
mean.
Now.
While the two terms are oftenused interchangeably, they serve
very different roles in humanbehavior.
Motivation is the internal orexternal forces that drives us

(01:57):
to take action.
That force or energy can comein the form of a work meeting or
a deadline, or a personal goalor the fear of failure.
Motivation is what pushes ustowards something we want to
achieve, or something that wewant or desire.
Now, on the other hand, inspiration comes from within.

(02:18):
It's something that pulls usand stirs a sense of excitement
or possibility inside of us.
Now inspiration taps intosomething deeper, helping you to
connect emotionally to yourpurpose or vision in life.
Inspiration is less about howand more about the why.

(02:39):
Let me give you an example.
Picture an athlete training forthe Olympics.
Now, their motivation might beto win a gold medal, and that's
what pushes them to wake upearly, train and to stay
disciplined.
However, their inspirationmight come from a personal story
, like watching someone overcomean adversity and still compete

(03:00):
in the Olympics for the goldmedal, sparking a belief that
they can do it too.
Compete in the Olympics for thegold medal, sparking a belief
that they can do it too.
You see, it's motivation thatgets you going, but it's
inspiration that gives meaningto the effort.
Now, there are two types ofmotivation.
The first is intrinsicmotivation, which is driven by

(03:22):
personal satisfaction, curiosityand a desire to grow.
For example, learning a newskill just because you love the
process is intrinsic motivation.
Now, extrinsic motivation isthe second form, which comes
from external sources, likerewards, praise, or the
avoidance of pain or punishment.
An example of extrinsicmotivations would be completing
a work project because a bonusis attached to it.

(03:45):
Now, both types of motivationcan be powerful.
However, intrinsic motivationtends to have a long-lasting
effect because it's fueled byone's passion and not external
validation or material rewards.
While motivation pushes you totake action, it's inspiration

(04:05):
that can help you discover yourtrue north and give you a sense
of purpose.
Inspiration, unlike motivation,is often sparked by something
deeper, a vision of who you wantto be or what you want to
create.
Inspiration can come from manydifferent sources, such as a
role model or mentor who showsyou what's possible.

(04:26):
It can come from differentconcepts and philosophies that
might resonate with your corevalues, or it could come from
the natural world, which couldstir powerful feelings of
creativity and hope.
So how does motivation andinspiration work together?
How does motivation andinspiration work together?
Picture this no-transcript theTED Talk ignited a fire within

(04:54):
you and a belief that you canachieve great things as well.
Now, after leaving the TED Talk, you decide to start a business
or take up a challenge thatyou've been putting off for some
time, but what will push you totake the first step or the 10th
step when things get tough?
That's motivation.
That's motivation.
You see, inspiration gives youthe reason, or the why, to start

(05:18):
, but it's motivation that givesyou the stamina to keep on
going.
Now, the two work best intandem, creating a powerful
combination that could lead toextraordinary results.
So, then, what are somepractical strategies that we can

(05:38):
use in our own lives to help usto harness the power of
motivation and inspiration?
Strategy number one is to findyour why.
Now, whether you're building abusiness or improving your
overall health, you must firstunderstand why you are pursuing
the goal.
Having a strong personal reasonfuels both inspiration and
motivation.
A great question to askyourself to help you discover
the why behind your pursuit iswhy is this important to me?

(06:02):
Now, the second strategy forharnessing the power of
motivation and inspiration is tovisualize what you want Now.
Visualization is a powerfultool that has been used by top
performers in every field.
Set aside some time each day toimagine what success looks like
for you.
How will you feel when youachieve your goal by doing so?

(06:25):
This taps into your intrinsicmotivation and helps keep you on
track.
Strategy number three is tosurround yourself with things
that inspire you, whether it'sreading books, spending time in
nature or engaging in creativeactivities.
The goal of doing things thatinspire you is to keep the spark
alive within you.
Strategy number four is tocreate a process of

(06:49):
accountability and reward.
Having accountability partnersin different areas of your life,
like a mentor, coach or trustedfriend, will help keep you on
track to achieving your goals.
It's also important to create areward system to reward
yourself for small wins alongthe way.
This external motivation canhelp you maintain momentum,

(07:11):
especially during tough times.
Both motivation and inspirationare essential tools for personal
and professional transformation.
Inspiration fuels your dreamsand gives them meaning, while
motivation keeps you movingtowards them, even when the
journey gets challenging.
The key, then, is to recognizewhen you need them.

(07:31):
There'll be times when you needto be inspired to reignite your
purpose.
Other times, you might needsome motivation to help push you
through the tough times andchallenges.
So, as we wrap up this episode, let me leave you with this
thought Whenever you're on ajourney to bring about positive
transformation in your personalor professional life, know that
