belief that success is forother people, or perhaps it's
the belief that you're too old,too young or too whatever.

all rooted in your ownself-concept?

break free from the limitingbeliefs that keep us stuck and

(01:07):
discover how to maintain thismental freedom so we can
experience the life we desire.
So if you're ready, let's begin.
Hello and welcome to anotherepisode of Transformative Living
Radio.
I'm Andre Flax, your host andcertified life and leadership

(01:28):
coach.
Now, I was listening to alecture the other day given by
Neville Goddard, who was amotivational writer, speaker and
mystic who taught about thepower of the subconscious mind
and how to use our imaginationto turn our dreams into reality.
Now, the title of the lecturewas quote you are in prison only

(01:52):
by your concept of yourself.
Now, I was so inspired by thelecture.
I wanted to share some of theconcepts and ideas that were
taught in the lecture and, atthe same time, provide seven
strategies that we could use tohelp us break free from the
limiting beliefs that keep usstuck and imprisoned from living

(02:14):
the life we desire.
To begin with, let's start byunderstanding what limiting
beliefs are and how to identifythem.
Limiting beliefs are negativethoughts that tend to hold us
back, thoughts like I'm too oldor I'm not smart enough, or
people like me don't succeed.
These beliefs aren'tnecessarily true.

(02:36):
They are beliefs that we'vepicked up from our past, from
our environment or even from ourpast failures.
Neville Goddard put it this wayour real beliefs are what we
live by, what we believe andwhat we know are all one in the
same, in other words.
What we generally believe aboutourselves shapes how we

(02:58):
experience the world, whether werealize it or not.
The good news is is that wehave the power to change these
beliefs and rewrite the story ofour lives.
How, you might ask.
Well, that's where today'sstrategies come in, so let me
break them down.
The first strategy is toidentify the limiting beliefs

(03:20):
that might be holding you back.
Awareness is the first step andthe most profound of the seven
strategies.
You see, we can't fix what wecan't identify as broken.
This strategy requires us totake time to get quiet and
reflect on where we might feelstuck in our lives.
Is it career, or Is itrelationship, health or finance?

(03:45):
Write down those areas and askyourself what beliefs might be
driving this.
For example, maybe you'redissatisfied with your current
career and feel you're ready tostep out and start your own
business.
However, you remain stuck inthe same career year after year.
Is it because you don't believeyou can succeed?

(04:06):
Or maybe your business idealwill fail?
Once you identify the belief, you can start to change it.
Awareness is the flashlightthat helps us see the secret
chains we might be carrying.
Once we can identify thoselimiting beliefs, the next step
is to rewrite our self-concept.
The next step is to rewrite ourself-concept.

(04:27):
Neville Goddard said it thisway change your concept of
yourself and you willautomatically change the world
in which you live.
Now I found this principle tobe true in my own life.
Looking back on my life as ateenager growing up in the inner
city, my conception of myselfwas heavily influenced by my
environment and the messages Ireceived from family and friends

(04:50):
.
Throughout my high school andeven in college, I found myself
discounting my gifts and talentsbecause of my negative
self-concept.
It wasn't until I was able toidentify the limiting beliefs
and the negative mental programsand began rewriting my
self-concept that I was able toexperience life from a more

(05:10):
positive perspective.
Here's an exercise you can useto help you rewrite your own
self-concept.
Imagine you're writing a bio ofyour future self, the version
of you who has already achievedits goals.
What does it say?
If you've been telling yourselfI'm not good enough, replace it

(05:30):
with I am more than enough andhave all the resources I need to
be successful and achieve thegoals I set.
Write down your newself-concepts and revisit them
on a daily basis.
Remember how you see yourselfsets the tone for how the world
sees you.
Strategy number three isvisualization.

(05:52):
Now I did a whole episode onvisualization and I encourage
you to go back and listen to it.
Neville Goddard also mentionedvisualization in his lectures,
teaching that the key toactualizing the things we want
is to visualize it with feeling.
This means that it's not enoughjust to imagine or envision

(06:12):
your goals.
You need to feel as thoughthey're already real.
Try this quick visualizationexercise.
If you're in a safe place to doso, close your eyes and picture
yourself living your dream.
If it's financial freedom, imagine looking at your current
bank account with the desiredamount you want.
Feel the excitement and reliefas if the money is already in

(06:37):
your account right now.
This exercise does feel awkwardat first because we don't tend
to use our imaginationconsciously this way.
However, our brain does thisconstantly at the subconscious
level, but usually it's in thenegative frame, believe it or
not.
Whenever our brain starts tothink about the worst-case

(06:57):
scenarios, we begin to imaginethings with feeling.
These feelings then lead to thefear and anxiety we experience.
The key, then, is to switchfrom imagining what we don't
want to imagining what we desire, with feeling.
Strategy number four is toembrace the power of I am.

(07:18):
You see, language is powerfuland the words I am are the most
powerful of all because theyshape our identity, are the most
powerful of all because theyshape our identity.
Every time we say I am, we'reactually sending commands to our
subconscious mind to producewhatever we say after I am.
So let's flip the script.
Instead of saying I am unlucky, try I'm attracting

(07:43):
opportunities every day.
Instead of saying I'm bad atrelationships, try I'm deserving
of love and connection.
Write down your new I amstatements and repeat them to
yourself every morning.
Remember repetition is themother of mastery.
Say your new I am statementswith conviction and in time, you

(08:04):
will soon embody them.
Now the fifth strategy forbreaking free from limiting
beliefs is challenging negativethoughts.
Whenever negative thoughts popup in your head, ask yourself
this powerful question Is thisreally true?
You'll find most of the time,it's not Just a story.
We've told ourselves for solong that it feels true.

(08:27):
For example, if you think I'mnot marriage material, ask
yourself why not Break.
It feels true.
For example, if you think I'mnot marriage material, ask
yourself why not Break it down.
Logically, you'll often findthat most of your negative
thoughts have no merit at all.
When we challenge our negativethoughts.
It's like pulling weeds from agarden it clears space for us to

(08:47):
plant new, empowering thoughts, for them to grow.
Now, to solidify any new belief,it requires inspired action.
You see, faith without actionis just fantasy.
So strategy number six is totake inspired action towards
your new beliefs.
For example, if you've beentelling yourself you can't get

(09:11):
in shape, take one small step bytaking a 15-minute walk or
swapping out a sweet snack formore healthy fruit.
Each action you takeconsistently reinforces your
belief of what's possible.
Now, strategy number seven is tosurround yourself with
growth-minded people.
It is said that we are theaverage of the five people we

(09:32):
spend most of our time with, soit's really important to
surround yourself with peoplewho uplift, inspire and
challenge you.
Join a mastermind group, find alife coach or mentor, or
connect with family and friendswho inspire you.
As we wrap up this episode, let's recap the seven strategies
Awareness, rewriting yourself-concept, visualization,

(09:58):
embracing the power of I amchallenging negative thoughts,
taking inspired action andsurrounding yourself with
growth-minded people.
These seven strategies, ifpracticed consistently, will
help you transform your life andbreak the chains of limiting
beliefs, allowing you toexperience more of the life you

(10:19):
desire.
