Los minutos negros es un thriller policial de Martín Solares, y la historia tiene lugar en la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos, donde el asesinato de un joven periodista acaba en manos de uno de los contados policías honrados de la fuerza local. Por supuesto, este crimen hace que se descubra una trama de asesinatos que el policía Vicente Rangel busca resolver.
La adaptación cinematográfica de esta novela llegó de la mano del director Mario Muñoz, quien en colaboración con el mismo autor, Solares, lograron una de las películas que mejor reflejan la realidad mexicana.
