It's June of 2020, the world is in lockdown and travel seems out of the question. You've never started a podcast before, and your co-host is someone you barely know. What on Earth will you talk about, and how will it go?   Fast forward two + years later: 87 episodes recorded, a burgeoning friendship, lots of fun episodes about your own backyard, interviews with guests from around the world, and, at last, proper overseas adventures to share, and we can call the Travel Mug Podcast a success story.   Travel Mug Podcast   Hosts Jenn & Meggan join Ted today to chat about their show, which combines destination guides with seasonal-themed episodes, short travel-tip extras, fun conversation and great inspiration. And with a healthy dose of gourmet coffee to keep it humming. Travel Mug Podcast evolved from Jenn's travel blog, branching out into the audio format to get into more depth and detail. Having met each other through travel blogging, Meggan and Jenn decided to see if there would be chemistry as co-hosts and were pleasantly surprised, along with their audience, to find a natural fit.   Like many of the travel-themed podcasts we've profiled so far on this show, Travel Mug was born out of the pandemic, when podcasting offered one of the few connections to the world of travel and adventure. As travel now returns, these podcasts are well-placed to build on their foundations of dozens of episodes of experience, and keep developing dynamic content and deeper connections with their audience.   Action Advice   6:08 - Taking action, starting the podcast despite the odds and circumstances at the time. 9:45 - Is it worth revisiting places profiled during the pandemic, to reflect changes and newer information. 11:10 - Turning a travel blog into a podcast. 12:03 - The decision to host the podcast together. 16:28 - Promotion strategies, especially Instagram. 17:10 - Growing and planning the show, two years in, with an eye to future episodes. 20:04 - Choosing a name for a podcast. 24:50 - Reporting on a place as a first or second time visitor, not as someone with a long-term perspective. The context that gives the listener. 27:35 - The challenges of recording on the road, whether regular episodes or getting local sounds. 32:37 - Reflecting on sustainability in travel, and ethical travel.     Travel Podcast the World   https://www.travelpodcasttheworld.com https://twitter.com/TedFlyTed https://www.instagram.com/travel_podcast_theworld/ Submit Your Podcast form  Suggest a Podcast form     Guest Links   Travel Mug Podcast   Travel Mug on Instagram   Episode: What to do in Summer in Nova Scotia   Episode: Beginner's Guide to Toronto   Episode: Solo Travelling & Owning an AirBnB     References   The Cat ferry, Yarmouth to Bar Harbor   Sissiboo coffee roaster, Bear River, NS     Places   Nova Scotia   Prince Edward Island   New Brunswick
