Triết gia nổi tiếng thời Tiên Tần, Tuân Tử, sinh ra ở nước Triệu vào cuối thời Chiến Quốc. Ông kế thừa học thuyết Nho gia, nhưng khác biệt với Mạnh Tử bàn về mặt thiện của con người, Tuân Tử nói nhiều hơn về mặt ác của con người. Nhưng Tuân Tử nói về mặt ác này cũng là để người ta nhận ra, mục đích cuối cùng vẫn đạt được khuyến thiện, dựa vào đó mà hình thành nên những tư tưởng giáo dục độc đáo của mình.
