(00:11):
Hi everyone, it's Lena here. Welcome back to another episode
of Trivia Tangents. Today's episode is actually more
of a mini episode sort of updatestatus update situation, not
really a full episode. I don't have a guest today with
me, it's just me and it is goingto be a shorter episode.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I will be on summer
(00:32):
break today up until the end of July.
So starting today, July 10th to July 31st, I will be on summer
summer break and on July 31st you will get a new episode.
It will be all about chocolate making and trivia about
chocolate. So I'm really excited for you
guys to see that. I'm talking with chocolate
(00:55):
making expert AKA my dad who makes chocolate at home with
basically no equipment. So it's really cool to hear his
methods and how to do it at home.
So just to give you guys a little bit of an idea of what
I'll be up to, you guys can definitely follow me at Lena
Osofsky on Instagram or at Lena Bobina Lena on Tiktok.
(01:20):
I'll be posting my travels there.
But basically, I'm starting out by going to New York City to
visit one of my really great friends who lives there.
And she's a friend from high school.
So it'll be really, really good to catch up with her.
And then from there, I'm flying from New York City to Italy.
I am so excited to go to Italy. I have been just absolutely
(01:45):
studying my ass off for Italian. You guys probably don't know but
I have been taking an Italian class in addition to my Duolingo
passion or obsession or addiction I guess.
So I do take a 2 hour class for for Italian once a week and I'm
(02:06):
currently in A1 beginner 3 if that says anything.
So I can hold like a very, very, very basic conversation and ask
for directions and order food and, and basically try and get
us around. So that'll be coming in handy
when I'm there. Hopefully all of the hard work
(02:26):
will have paid off In Italy. I will be doing basically like a
big loop. I'll be there for two weeks,
which is probably the most amount of time I've number one
spent abroad and then #2 spent in Italy itself.
Italy is currently my favorite country to visit and a huge part
(02:47):
of that is because one of my great friends, Isabella, shout
out Isabella and I call her Isa.Isa lives in Brescia, near
Brescia. It's a region basically, which
is like near Milan, so northern Italy.
And we went to college together. She studied abroad in UC Davis
(03:07):
and we were roommates. So that's where we came.
We became really good friends. So I'm really excited to see
her, especially since now that she has a kid and I am so
excited to meet him. Like basically to me, he's still
a baby, but I guess now he's technically a kid.
He's not a Bambino, He's a, well, I guess in Italian it's
still Bambino. Anyways, to tell you guys, my
(03:30):
itinerary travels here. I'm starting off by arriving at
Malpensa, which is like the mainnorthern airport, MXP, and from
there going to Lake Como, Lago de Como, staying in a small
little town called Varenna. And you know, I'm going to spend
3:00-ish days there. Check out the Bellagio, check
(03:51):
out the Star Wars villa, which I'm so excited for, And then
from there, heading sort of southeast towards Brescia to
spend some time with Isa and herkid.
Then she's going to help us get halfway down to Chinqua.
Tere. We're going to have lunch in
Parma. She used to live there, so she's
(04:13):
going to show us one of her favorite lunch places in
Italian. Lunch is Pranzo, and then from
Parma, we'll take the train. Tran Italia shout out or Italo,
I don't remember which one we'retaking.
I think we're going to buy the ticket on the spot 'cause we're
not really too sure what time will arrive in Parma.
It's a long journey from Breishaall the way to Chinquetede.
(04:34):
It's like at least like 6 hour drive, but I think by train is
actually faster. So anyways, after the train from
Parma to Chinquitede, we are going to spend a few days in
Chinquitede. We're staying in the town called
Veronazza, which is one of the five towns within Chinquitete.
Chinquitete obviously means 5 towns.
(04:55):
I'm so excited to go to Chinquitete.
This is my ultimate dream that I've wanted for like 5 or 6
years now. If you're not familiar with
Chinquitete, all you need to do is look up Italy on the Internet
or if you have a travel book, I can bet you that the cover is
probably Chinquitete. The cover of my Italian book is
(05:16):
Chinquitete, and all of the books I know of that are Italian
travel books always utilize a photo of Chinquita because it is
so absolutely gorgeous with its beautiful seaside cliffside
houses and the beautiful blue water and the plants and the
beautiful bridges and it's just so pretty.
(05:37):
If you still don't know what I'mtalking about, then if you know
the movie called Luca by Disney, which came out a few years ago,
I think it's based in the town called Monarola, or it might be
Rio Maggiore, or it might even be Veronatsat, which is where
I'm staying. But basically, it is based in
Chinquetede, which is my biggesthighlight of the trip, or at
(05:57):
least that's what I'm most looking forward to.
And then from there, we are going to take a long, long, long
train ride back up north up to Milano.
And we're going to spend a few days there and going to do some
shopping, some eating at restaurants, some sightseeing.
And now that I'm thinking about it, I technically should be able
(06:18):
to say all of what I just said in Italian if I retained my
learnings from the Italian lesson.
Shout out Aurora, my teacher. Hopefully I'll be able to
explain what I'm doing and explain what I did in past tense
when I get back. So anyways, I am just so excited
to have a summer break and I will miss you guys along the
(06:38):
way. I will be posting my travels
like I said on my TikTok and my Instagram and I'll try and keep
up the trivia Instagram updated as well.
And just to give you guys a little preview of what is to
come after summer break, we havea awesome lineup of episodes.
These have already been recorded.
(06:59):
They're basically almost all edited.
And I'm just so excited to sharewith you guys.
I am booked out until October, so I'm really, really, really
proud of myself. It has been definitely a
challenge being the solo host here, but it has been also
really rewarding to have guests on and learn more about their
expertise and their hobbies and their careers.
(07:22):
And I've just been learning so much about, you know, SEO's and
algorithms and how to edit better and how to do like
marketing Flyers better. And I've just been getting more
in tune, like with myself as a business person.
And also I feel more connected to my community as well, just in
the sense of like shouting out, you know, different local places
(07:45):
in the podcast. Like for example, for the Matcha
podcast, I shouted out like fouror five different matcha places
in San Francisco. And I actually went to them in
person and dropped off Flyers and mentioned like, hey, I
mentioned you in the podcast. And some of them were nice
enough to put up my Flyers, which is really, really, really
nice. And at this point, the Flyers do
(08:07):
have QR codes, but funny story, the QR code expired unless I
want to pay $20.00 a month, which I don't want to.
So those don't work right now, but at least the Flyers are
still up and I still get notifications when people scan
the QR code. So hopefully people are just
typing in the actual website URLto my website which is called
(08:28):
Trivia tangentspodcast.com. Anyways, I know that was a
little bit of a tangent. What's new?
Getting back on track here to tell you guys what is coming up
on deck that you can expect for the next few weeks after summer
break here. So like I said, we have
chocolate making with my dad andthen we have Freaky Friday,
(08:50):
Freaky or Friday with Miss Lauren, one of my great friends
from college. She has been on the podcast
before, so you may remember her voice.
And at that time, Freaky Friday too Freaky or Friday will be
releasing the very next day. So I thought that would be
really applicable to release that.
And I currently I'm editing all the Instagram Reels and Tik Toks
(09:12):
and it's looking really good. You guys.
I just love the aesthetic of Freaky Friday, like the punk
rock, glam rock, I love it. After that, we will be
discussing Oregon wine trivia with the Girls That Excel
podcast. So that is with my good friend
Alyssa and Emily. They're from the Girls That
Excel podcast and they live in Portland, OR and it was really
(09:34):
cool to catch up with them and especially since I am pretty
familiar with Portland since I do a family that lives up there
and I go there quite a few timesa year.
So that was really fun. And we did drink some wine
during that recording. So you can see us get or I guess
hear us get a little bit a drunktipsy, which was pretty funny.
And then after the Oregon wines episode, we will be talking
(09:56):
about cats meow Kitty cats with my friend Steph.
She has two gorgeous cats, Oolong and cucumber, mom and
son. And as you guys know, I have
Miss Peach, Miss Weechee, Weechee, Miss Weech, Miss
Weechee, Miss Princess Peach. And so we kind of just geek out
over cats and spoiler, we talkedabout toxoplasmosis.
(10:19):
Toxoplasmosis. So if you don't know what that
is, definitely stay tuned for that episode.
It's coming out August 21st. Then we'll be talking about
salsa dancing with my best friend, Haley Krolick.
She is probably one of my oldestfriends.
We've known each other since like 4th grade and her family is
like my second family. And she's been really into salsa
(10:42):
dancing the last few years. She's spent three years living
in Columbia. And so she's gotten really in
tune with that, you know, Latin style of dance.
So I learned a lot about her style of dancing and how she's
learned it and her community. So that's been really fun and I
can't wait for you guys to hear that.
After salsa dancing, we'll talk with another Lauren.
That episode is super interesting.
(11:03):
Lauren is an open water long distance swimmer.
She swam round trip, Angel Island, North Channel, Catalina
Channel, English Channel, the diameter or diameter, the long
way of Lake Tahoe Co EV channel in from Molokai E to Oahu, the
cook straight and the straight of Gibraltar.
(11:26):
The straight of Gibraltar. So that was really cool to talk
to Lauren about her adventures open water swimming.
We talk jellyfish, we talk rulesabout open water swimming, we
talk her scariest experiences, how she trains for these sorts
of swims, and it's really cool to hear from such a talented
athlete as herself. After that, we are speaking with
(11:49):
AMI Mommy, my good friend who isa Lagree Pilates instructor at
Core 40. We actually recently filmed this
episode and it's really cool to talk to her since we actually
started doing a podcast togetherthat never took off.
So that's kind of where my wholelike podcast journey began.
So it was really great to talk with her there.
(12:11):
Also, I am really into Core 40 as well since she was the one
who showed me Core 40. Then we'll be talking with my
Auntie Sarah about Hawaii. She is a local in Waikiki and
it's really great to catch up with her and talk about the
Hawaiian mythology, the ways that you know, locals are
(12:31):
represented in in like everyday life and also films and just
everything about Hawaii, you know, I love.
And then lastly, what's up on deck is hairstyles, the history
of hairstyles with my very own hairstylist, Kelly Sawyer.
So super excited to talk with her.
That one hasn't been recorded yet, so trying to get that on
(12:52):
the calendar. But yes, you guys can see there
is a lot coming up in the lineuphere for trivia tangents.
And I'm just so excited to be talking to all these amazing,
talented people and just really proud of myself.
Also for keeping consistent with, I've been really
consistent with recording, not only recording but also being
active on socials, Instagram, and TikTok, which is a lot
(13:16):
harder than it looks. So thank you again for
continuing to support me in thispodcast.
I'm having a lot of fun and I hope you guys are too.
Please feel free to leave comments, share with a friend,
and follow along on my Instagramand TikTok for my summer travels
in New York City and Italy. So as a reminder, I will be on
(13:37):
summer break from July 10th to July 31st with a new episode
coming out July 31st all about chocolate making with my dad.
And until then you guys can follow along on my socials.
Instagram is at Lena Osofsky andTikTok is at Lena Bobina Lena.
I'll link them below. I'll try to keep you guys
(13:57):
updated there and also on the trivia tangents Instagram
itself. And then until July 31st, if you
are missing the content, feel free to listen to the previous 4
episodes if you haven't already. We had an awesome start the
revamp of this podcast with my friend Nikki who talked all
about pickleball. She is a pickleball expert,
(14:19):
pickleball fanatic, and basically the person I know who
is most into pickleball. So that was a really fun episode
and I got the most streams ever on that episode.
So thank you so much for Nikki for being on the podcast.
Then you guys can also listen toeverything about Matcha with my
good friend Kyla, who's also in the content creation space and
she makes a lot of amazing at home matcha lattes.
(14:42):
Then I speak with my friend Elizabeth, who's really into and
very talented with foot archery. So if you guys haven't listened
to that episode yet, it is very interesting.
We talk about how she got into foot archery, how she taught
herself how to do it, who are her role models, why she does
it, and she has some really awesome stories about how she
(15:03):
got into foot archery. And really quickly, if you don't
know what foot archery is, you're basically in a handstand
upside down, holding a bow and arrow with your feet and
shooting with your feet. So she is super duper talented.
So if you guys haven't heard that one yet, just go ahead and
listen to it. And then the last one that we
previously released is rock climbing with my really good
(15:23):
friend Hannah. She is super into outdoor
climbing and we actually used tobe ballet buddies when we both
lived in down in the Peninsula. We climbed at movement.
And yeah, it was really great totalk to her and catch up with
her about rock climbing. I see her, you know, like pretty
often, but we haven't talked about climbing in a while since
we just haven't done it togetherand she has some very strong
(15:45):
opinions about ATC and free solo.
So if you're looking for a laughand want to hear some bird
chirps from Randall, go ahead and listen to that episode until
July 31st. Feel free to follow on Socials
and also listen to those four previous episodes that I
mentioned Until then. Miss you guys so much and I will
see you soon. Thanks for listening and
(16:07):
learning, bye.
