Expectation and recovery from rhinoplasty in Las Vegas - Troell Cosmetic Surgery & Facial Plastic Clinic, South Fort Apache Road, Las Vegas, NV

🟦 What to Expect From Rhinoplasty at Troell Cosmetic Surgery – Las Vegas, NV

At Troell Cosmetic Surgery & Facial Plastic Clinic on South Fort Apache Road in Las Vegas, rhinoplasty is approached with precision, balance, and facial harmony. Dr. Robert Troell specializes in both aesthetic and functional nasal reshaping, tailoring each surgery to the individual’s facial structure and breathing concerns.

Before surgery, patients undergo digital imaging, consultation, and airway evaluation to ensure both cosmetic and medical goals are met. The procedure typically lasts 2–3 hours under IV sedation or general anesthesia.

🟩 Rhinoplasty Recovery Timeline at Dr. Troell’s Clinic

Day 1–2: Mild to moderate discomfort, controlled with prescription medication. Breathing may be limited through the nose.

Days 3–7: Swelling peaks and begins to subside. A nasal splint is worn to support healing.

Day 7–10: Splint and any sutures are removed. Bruising fades. Most patients return to work or school.

Week 2–4: Swelling significantly reduces. Physical activity can resume gradually.

Months 3–12: Final nasal contour continues refining. Subtle changes may occur as tissue settles.

🟨 Key Post-Op Tips

  • Avoid blowing your nose for two weeks
  • Keep the head elevated for faster swelling reduction
  • Use cold compresses and prescribed topical care
  • Attend all follow-up visits to ensure optimal healing

Dr. Troell’s expertise in facial symmetry and nasal airflow makes his Las Vegas clinic a trusted choice for patients seeking long-term, natural-looking rhinoplasty results.

Dr Robert J Troell M.D (00:00):
The question some people ask is what
are my expectations of anaesthetic result and what's the
recovery like? So when we lookat expectations, that is
finalized during the initialconsultation. We want what do
you want your nose to look likeafterwards. There is a really
pretty narrow range what mostpeople like. I have a thirty
year experience doingrhinoplasties.

(00:21):
I've, invented with somecolleagues two different
procedures for the nosesurgically that people currently
use. So having that backgroundhelps. When we're doing the
consultation we go over theaspects of both the nasal tip,
the end result, and the nasaldorsum and putting those
together. If we decide to doadjuvant therapy such as lip
augmentation with either filleror an implant or a chin implant.

(00:45):
All that gives harmonious resultto the face and gives the best
aesthetic results.
So what the expectations thatyou're gonna have, we discuss
preoperatively. The ones thattake the longest to get better
are classically related to thenasal tip. The dorsum within
usually several months gets theresults that you want. The nasal

(01:06):
tip can take one to two yearsfor all the edema and swelling
to get better, to show the bestresults. The key is that we have
enough structural support toyour nose that your nose doesn't
collapse or alter its, generalappearance.
If it does, then potentiallyrevision surgery is needed.
Everyone has different strengthsto their cartilage. Sometimes we
need to do a cartilage graft.Sometimes we don't. We discuss

(01:28):
that in person.
When I'm in the Operating Room,I use my expertise to decide do
we need that or not. So theexpectation is, are we gonna do
ear cartilage grafting or nasalseptoplasty to get cartilage?
That is discussed during theinitial consultation and I use
my best expertise, with myexperience in the Operating Room
to determine do we need to docartilage grafting. Recovery.

(01:51):
The advantage of rhinoplastyit's a minimally uncomfortable
procedure.
One or two days of taking painmedication is all that the
average patient does in terms ofbleeding or drainage from the
nose one or two days at theoutside three days of having a
little bloody drainage. We havea cast aqua splint we heat it up
mold it to your nose we havesome Steri Strips which are like

(02:11):
band aids and that's designed tosqueeze any blood out of between
the skin and the underlyingcartilage and bone to get the
best results possible the morethat's in there the more you're
likely to get scar tissue andnot get the best result that
you're looking for So the castis removed at five to seven
days. Any sutures from an openrhinoplasty here are removed at
five to seven days. Inside yournose, have sutures that absorb

(02:34):
on their own. So we usuallyrecommend using antibiotic
ointment on a q tip or yourfinger three or four times a
day.
One, it coats the incision so itfeels better. You get less
crusting and uncomfortableness.Usually can breathe from your
nose immediately after surgery. If we take cartilage from your
nasal septum, you might have alittle bit of nasal obstruction
for a couple of days before thatresolves. So recovery is quick

(02:57):
within one week.
Most people have no pain. Theswelling is significantly
improved. If they bruise it'susually to a minimal degree.
Only about five percent ofpatients have any significant
bruising. So we want you to getthe best results and the way we
do that is get your inputbeforehand and listen to our
recommendations in terms of postop care to get the best result
