Welcome back to another episode of Trudge Report. After a brief around the horn segment we take a moment to remember how cunning, baffling, and powerful the disease of addiction is. Reminding ourselves that we must always stay vigilant and that while we have fun on this podcast talking about recovery, our brothers and sisters are out there sick and suffering. It puts into perspective and makes the recovery work we do that much more important.
The main event tonight is surrounding the topic of intimacy. The boys step out into some uncharted territory but also an area where each of us have had a multitude of experiences, both good and bad, ranging from the last 9 to 14 years. We talk about what real intimacy is. Not just the physical part of it with our girlfriends or significant others, but truly being there for a person, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Intimacy surrounding our friends, parents, and loved ones. We talk about what we were all like prior to sobriety and in early sobriety and how we have grown and developed that sense of intimacy as the years have gone by.
As long as we are building our foundation on anything less than Rock- will power, material security, other people, or our own resources- we are building upon sand, and great will be our fall.
