Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time for Weekly Dispatch.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Jewels and Jen do you copy over?

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Welcome everybody to True cremen Headlines Weekly Dispatch. I'm Jhen
rivera half of True Cremin Headlines, and together with Jeweles,
we'll be bringing you true crime news. We sourced that
very week. Now, if you've been a listener of the
podcast for a while, you'll know that this is a
series that was previously titled Headlines that Jewels started back
in twenty twenty three, and we're bringing it back, bigger

(00:31):
and better. It's important to pay attention to the big cases.
We can learn so much from them, but it's also
important to highlight the cases which need more attention to
email us any case recommendations please email Outreach at Fireeyesmedia
dot com. Now let's dive right into this week's dispatch.

(00:52):
We're going to kick off today's episode talking about someone
who's dubbed America's most Hated mom, and that's none other
than Casey Anthony. Now, if you're not familiar with who
Casey Anthony is, she was accused of killing her two
year old daughter, Kaylee Anthony in two thousand and eight.
Casey had initially told police that Kaylly was kidnapped by
her nanny, sending them off on an intense search for

(01:14):
the toddler. After months of searching and Casey spinning a
web of lies about what really happened to her daughter,
Kayley's remains were found in a wooded area less than
a half a mile from the Anthony's home. In December
of two thousand and eight, Casey was charged with aggravated
child abuse, aggravated manslaughter, and four counts of providing false
information to law enforcement. However, in twenty eleven, after more

(01:39):
than ten hours of deliberation, Casey was acquitted of murder.
Since then, she's remained out of the public eye up
until twenty twenty two, when a new documentary about her
was released on Peacock called Casey Anthony Where the Truth Lies.
This was an exclusive three part documentary series where Casey
claims to tell her side of the story. Although many

(01:59):
have speck related whether this was just another ploy to
try to save her reputation one last time, many have
deemed her a pathological liar based on her behavior back
in two thousand and eight and now, even with the
new allegation she proposed in the documentary about her, father
and brother. Now, Casey is back in the headlines after
posting a TikTok recently stating that she wants to now

(02:20):
use her platform and continue working as a quote legal advocate.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
This is my first of probably many recordings on a
series that I'm starting. I am a legal advocate, i
am a researcher. I've been in the legal field since
twenty eleven, and in this capacity, I feel that it's
necessary if I'm going to continue to operate appropriately as

(02:47):
a legal advocate, that I start to advocate for myself
and also advocate for my daughter. For those of you
who don't know, my name is Kasey Anthony. My daughter
is Kaylee Anthony. My parents are George and Cindy Anthony.
This is not about them. This is not in respond
to anything that they have said or done. That's not
to say that I'm not going to respond at some
point to some of the things that they have said
and done. The whole point of this is for me

(03:09):
to begin to reintroduce myself. I'm doing this both personally
for me, but in a professional capacity. Moving forward, the
majority of what you will see will be me speaking
in a professional capacity. My goal is to continue to
help give a voice to people, to give people tools

(03:29):
and resources that they can utilize so they actually know
where they can turn to. So with that, please join
me on subsec if you have questions, I will set
up an email address where we can correspond directly. Up
until this point, that has never happened, and it's only
going to be on a limited basis regarding legal issues

(03:50):
legal matters. One of the main reasons that I'm doing
this there are people close to me who have been
targeted and attacked recently. They're also people close to me
who have had some recent things occur and one necessary
people needed to step up, myself included. So as a

(04:11):
proponent for the LGBTQ community, for our legal community, women's rights,
I feel that it's important that I use this platform
that was thrust upon me and now look at as
a blessing as opposed to the curse that it has
been since two thousand and eight. With that, these aren't

(04:31):
going to be perfect, They're not going to be edited
most of the time, They're not going to be short,
but I am proverbially standing in the light, embracing this piece,
still going to keep my privacy intact. So you will
get very comfortable with my car, and I will explain

(04:54):
in great detail why it's so important for people to
protect their privacy. It's not just important to the public figures,
it's even more important to private individuals, and with the
current climate in our country especially, it's that much more important,
which is why I am utilizing the substack platform. Yes,
I am advertising this and publishing this on TikTok, possibly

(05:17):
also through other meta platforms, but my intention is to
separate from that and showcase even more why substack is
such an important resource for people to utilize. Moving forward, anyway,
I appreciate your time and we'll see how this goes.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
What are your thoughts on Casey's reintroduction and pledged to
continue to be a legal advocate. From the response that
we're seeing just in the media and on this TikTok alone,
people are outraged, as they should be. Many believe that
this is just another ploy for Casey to be back
in the spotlight and shine light on herself or to
again try to clear her reputation, which in my opinion,

(06:03):
is just not possible at this point. Now onto the
next case, our weekly listeners will recall we recently covered
the murder of Gabby Patito. If you missed it, we
invite you to go listen to it. Gabby was murdered
by her fiance, Brian Laundry, and his family has been
nothing short of shady since Gabby initially was reported missing. Now,

(06:24):
we recently came across an article from Fox News by
Michael Ruiz that states Brian Laundry Gabby Patito docuseries highlights
payment to lawyer connected to Bin Lauden. Now, this article's
headline seems to be a bit more of an attention grabber,
as our first impression was that the lawyer was involved
with Ben Lauden, the terrorist. However, the article goes on

(06:46):
to clarify by saying this, The lawyer in question is
Tom Fleener, an Army veteran and whose former clients included
the Gauatanamo Bay detainee Ali l Baloul, a former bodyguard
to the nine to eleven terrorist Osama bin Laden, who
Navy Seals killed in twenty eleven. The time may be
a degree of separation, but the title isn't wrong. There

(07:07):
is a connection to Bin Laden. How does a family
land on this attorney for their son as a decision
allegedly they had to pay twenty five thousand dollars as
a retainer to this lawyer, and this happened while Gabby
was actively missing and they were covering for their son.
And just a side note to update everyone on. Since
the top rated Netflix documentary on Gabby Potito has been released,

(07:29):
the Laundry family has come out claiming that it was
a one sided piece, neglecting to also follow up with
the fact that they declined any involvement with the production.
You know what is actually one sided though murder. According
to News Nation, the Laundry's lawyers state that the documentary
contained many inaccuracies, incorrect juxtapositions of timelines and misstatements, and

(07:52):
omissions of fact, perhaps deliberate to capture their quote unquote truth,
perhaps due to simple error. The statement then goes to say,
we all know Brian took Gabby's life, and Brian then
took his own as well. Let the parents of both
Gabby and Brian mourn and remember them in peace. Now,
moving back in time, perhaps England in the eighteen hundreds,

(08:13):
comes a development about the identity of one of the
world's most notorious serial killers, Jack the Ripper. If you're
unfamiliar with the cases attributed to Jack the Ripper, here's
a brief rundown. Jack the Ripper was a name given
to an unknown suspect who was attributed, although not confirmed,
to many murders in Victorian England in a notorious crime

(08:36):
ridden neighborhood at the time, the Whitechapel District. The police
at that time were very under prepared with how to
handle gruesome murders of that nature. The victims, mostly women
working as prostitutes on the streets of the Whitechapel District,
had their necks sliced, their abdomens gutted apart, and at
least three of the five suspected victims had their organs removed.

(08:59):
It's been a mystery spanning centuries now who was Jack
the Ripper. There have, been, of course, numerous theories as
to who he was. In fact, it's such a popular
field of study that it's been given in official name
of a ripperology, and those who study this case are
known as ripperlogists. And a ripperologist has made international headlines

(09:22):
lately by claiming he has DNA evidence to back up
his theory about who Jack the Ripper really was. From
a News Nation article by Ashley Soriano, historian who discovered
Jack the Ripper's real identity, says it's one hundred percent him.
Russell Edwards, the historian has come forward with claims that
he has a one hundred percent DNA match to confirm

(09:42):
the identity of Jack the Ripper. So the big burning
question here is how let's do a quick rundown of
the historian's defense into his alleged discovery. According to the article,
Edward states, without a doubt, one hundred percent it's him. Edwards,
back in two thousand and seven bought a shawl that
was found at the scene of the murder of Catherine

(10:04):
a Does. Using this DNA, Edwards then tests it against
the DNA from the relatives of his suspect, Aaron Kazminski,
who in the eighteen eighties was only twenty three. Kazminski
was a Polish immigrant, became a barber in Whitechapel, England,
and was in a mental health facility with schizophrenia at

(10:25):
the time of his death in nineteen nineteen. Many people
will make the connection of the slashing of throats to
a barber's skills with a knife, and some tim Burton
fans may connect the fictional tale of the murdering barber
Sweeney Todd, but what isn't being connected is the shawl
from one of Jack the Ripper's alleged victims, the same
shawl purchased by Edwards, which now stays locked in a vault.

(10:48):
According to Edwards, he doubts the shawl will ever be
tested by law enforcement. So what do you think? Now,
Let's visit some cases we found this week which we
think needs some attention.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
On what should have been her fourth birthday, family gathered
to celebrate Zaia Lacey. Her memory projected on a billboard
A long eye thirty was a larger than life representation
of a little girl murdered when she was just two.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
She was loving, She was a kid that was full
of life.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Would y'all have imagined back in September of twenty twenty
three that we would still be standing here in twenty
twenty five without an arrest.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Kildn't even fadiom, no, ma'am, not at all. That's the
hardest part.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Dallas Police say. On September twenty fourth, twenty twenty three,
around nine thirty pm, a car drove by and fired
on a crowd along Hay Street, just off of Haskell
Avenue near Fair Park. Zia's family says they were here
for a balloon release for someone else killed by gun
violence when those shots rang out. It wasn't until she says,
she ducked for cover, that Zia's grandmother even realized the

(11:56):
two year old had been shocked. In September, police released
this video of the vehicle fleeing the scene, possibly an
orange Hundai Sonata. They don't believe Zia or another woman
injured worthy intended targets.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Want them to know that she is loved.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
She's loved, now focused on preserving her daughter's memory. Zia's
mother says she long ago forgave those responsible.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
God works on his own time.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah, he has the last say so, the last say so,
and I know God can swing water than me.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
With a fifteen thousand dollars reward offered by the ATF
for information leading to an arrest, family says they hold
on to hope that Zia will get justice.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
If you know something, say something, do something, because it
could easily be your family, It could easily be at
your doorsteps.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Zia's death is tragic. She was with her family. Gathered
for a memorial balloon release for someone else who was
murdered with gun violence. When shots rang out, Zia's grandmother
ducked for cover to protect Zia, but she quickly realized
it was too late. Two year old Ziah was fatally shot.
Now when she should be celebrating her fourth birthday. Her

(13:08):
case still remains unsolved. This case is just so incredibly heartbreaking,
and I truly hope and pray that Zaia gets the
justice she deserves. Anyone with information is asked to contact
Detective Guy Curtis at two four six seven one three
six three three or Guy dot Curtis at Dallaspolice dot gov.

(13:32):
Another case we want to touch on is a Utah
man that was found dead in a car along I
fifteen in Idaho. The man's identity has not been released,
but authorities are asking for anyone who may have seen
anything on February twenty eighth, round ten pm on Interstate
fifteen to please come forward. The cause of death is
being ruled a homicide by gunshot wound. According to ABC News,

(13:56):
The victim was found when police stopped to assess his
two thousand and eight white Camra vehicle, which was pulled
over along the interstate with the hazard's flashing. They then
soon discovered he was deceased. The victim was only thirty
one years old.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
A Utah man was found dead on the side of
the road in Idaho and police are trying to put
the pieces together. Idaho State Police last night stopped to
help a driver in a white Toyota cameray that appeared
to be stranded off of I fifteen near Blackfoot. During
the stop, they found thirty one year old Utah man
dead from a gunshot wound. The Bingham County Corner declared

(14:33):
the death a homicide. ISP are asking for the public's
help to identify any vehicle stopped nearby the camera. If
you were nearby or witnessed any suspicious activity, ISP would
like you to come forward and contact them.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
If you have any information about this case, please contact
Idaho State Police District five at two zero eight two
three nine nine eight five zero. Out of Oregon case
about a scammer who cons a woman in her seventies
out of more than five hundred thousand dollars in gold
coins in Clark County. Apparently, this is a new scam

(15:11):
targeting senior citizens, so how did this work. It's a
fairly sophisticated, well planned con, with the scammers telling the
victims that their social Security number was compromised and they
had to provide gold coins to help transfer funds to
a new one.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
In Clark County, authorities are investigating what they call a
sophisticated scam where the victim lost more than five hundred
thousand dollars. They say it happened over several months. The victim,
who is in her seventies, got a call from someone
claiming to be the federal government. With the federal government,
they told her there was an issue with their social
Security number and that she needed to transfer assets to

(15:48):
a new one. They convinced her to spend her money
on gold coins, which she gave to someone pretending to
be a federal agent. The scammers lied saying she would
have her financial assets transferred to a new secure Social
Security number. These are pictures of some of the coins,
as well as a suspect vehicle. You see they're a
light colored SNUV. If you have information, contact the Clark

(16:11):
County Sheriff's Office. Also a reminder, government agents will never
ask for payments in gold, gift cards or cryptocurrency.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
This is a great reminder to check in on your
loved ones and have the conversations about scammers, especially those
who target the elderly. If you receive a call from
a federal agency requesting money of any form, lease, make
sure to check its legitimacy. A federal agency will never
ask for cash, gold, gift cards, or cryptocurrency. But this

(16:43):
also brings up another quick reminder. With the advancements of
artificial intelligence, voices are easily copied, with most people's features
easily accessible online with just a few clicks. Scammers can
take your voice and run it through AI and target
the elderly by having them believe their loved one is
in trouble and need immediate funds. Many security professionals suggest

(17:05):
that each family has a secret code word only shared
within the immediate family. Has to add another layer of
safety for loved ones who may be vulnerable to these scams. However,
with advancements in technology, who isn't vulnerable now? Thank you
so much for joining me for this episode of Weekly Dispatch.
