Consuming True Crime, Trump, & Docs as WOC in America with Christl Stringer

In this insightful episode of Off-Script, Celene Beth is joined by the one and only, Christl Stringer, a filmmaker, artist, visionary, and a wealth of knowledge, to discuss the complexities of consuming true crime media as women of color.

They explore how marginalized communities, particularly Black individuals, are portrayed in documentary narratives, with a discussion on The Stroll (directed by Kristen Lovell and Zackary Drucker) and Kokomo City (directed by D. Smith). These films reflect the experiences of the Black trans community, particularly around sex work, and highlight the challenges faced at the intersection of race, gender, and societal marginalization.They also address the #MeToo movement’s impact on the Black community, and how survivors who broke their silence sparked essential conversations around sexual violence.
