Travis and Jenn explore YouTube's evolving AI landscape and discuss whether artificial intelligence is a helpful tool or a concerning replacement for human creativity. They demonstrate VidIQ's Script Writer tool live on the podcast, showing how AI can assist with research while still allowing creators to maintain their unique voice.

• AI updates on YouTube are creating new opportunities but also raising questions about content authenticity
• The human connection remains critical for viewers, even as AI-generated content becomes more convincing
• vidIQ's Script Writer tool demonstrates how AI can help with research and save time without replacing creativity
• Comment management doesn't require responding to every comment—focus on those that stand out or are funny
• Movie reviewers should understand fair use but recognize that using footage may still result in copyright claims
• AI licensing companies are approaching creators, but be cautious about what rights you're signing away

Email us at theboost@vidiq.com with your YouTube questions, and we might answer them in a future episode. Submit a script using vidIQ's Script Writer tool, and Travis and Jenn will perform the winning entry when they're in the studio together!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, welcome back to the only podcast that is so
excited to be here.
We decided to do it on a Friday.
My name is Travis and I'm herewith Jen.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hello, happy Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Well, it's Friday for us.
It's actually Monday whenpeople listen to this.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
That's actually the worst situation you could have
opened this up with.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
It's Friday for us, though, and that's all that
matters.
Uno reverso.
I'm Travis and she's Jen, andwe're here to teach you all
about your YouTube channel, howto grow them and learn all the
things on YouTube, as well assometimes talk about candy the
only podcast where you willlearn about both in the same
thing.
I don't know how we do this.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I don't know how either, but they're so equally
important.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
We're so good at it too.
I don't know exactly how we'reable to do this.
Lots of stuff has happened overthe last couple of weeks on
YouTube I watched.
I don't know if I assume thatby the time this goes live, the
video we saw with Rob doing allthe updates in June will
probably be live on the mainFidakio channel.
It's interesting to see all theupdates, but the things that
have mostly been happening andwe're just going to do this

(00:59):
before we get into the questionsum, wait.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I mean we're not supposed to talk about?
I don't think so.
I think we can talk abouteverything.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Um, a lot of ai updates.
I've noticed.
Um the uh, the shorts are goingto start having.
Um, what is that called?
Uh, what's the youtube versionof ai?
What's that one thing called?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I don't even keep track of them anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
That's how.
That's how close attention I'mpaying the youtube.
Ai huh sure so it's the, it'sthe fake videos that you're
seeing and the reason why Ibring this up is because you're
going to be able to use thesetools, and you already can.
Obviously, there's tons of umai tools out there to make
content with right.

(01:41):
There's, there's music, there'svideos, there's pictures, all
types of stuff and these aretools and I think it's important
to understand that they aretools.
But, by the same token, someweird stuff's going on, jen.
Some weird stuff is going on itis and are you worried about AI
taking over creativity andtaking over content creation?

(02:04):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
about that?
No, not.
I think there's some reallyreally funny stuff with ai
that's been coming out lately, like all the vlogs have you been
seeing that side no, not likefake vlogs.
Fake, oh my god wait, where youhave like moses vlogging and you
have like gorillas vlogging.
Oh my god, it's so, it's sofunny because it's like it is

(02:27):
the best spoof on like youtuberslike it's.
One I watched is actually likemoses and he's like holding like
his vlog cam and he's like, yeah, we're all gathered here,
he's about to part the seas likeoh yeah, I have seen some of
those.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
I haven't seen that specific one, but yes, I have
seen those.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
So to me I'm like this is specific one, but yes, I
have seen those.
So to me, I'm like this isfunny, like I don't think this
is taking away from anyone else, like I think someone was really
creative for making this.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
And I see like so many like gorilla ones that are
on like a bro hunting trip andlike I think that side is so
entertaining right now.
But to me that's just differentand that's like fully its own
thing, like I don't think you'renot trying to be AI at that
point.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah, I think, as you know, in the YouTube growth
niche it's very black or white.
You either are team AI oryou're not, and you're very much
hating everything that AIbrings to the creative space.
And I get both sides of it.
I look at it pragmatically butI also am concerned about some
of the things.
So um guy I know, austin evans, just did a video where he video
well, not video called, but hehe sent a video to a bunch of
his other tech youtuber friendsto react to and it was basically

(03:39):
him saying he was going to stopdoing youtube and some of them
believed it.
But it was all ai.
The entire was AI, and sometimesthere's things that give stuff
away.
But it's getting so good nowthat content creation itself
could be replaced.
Now I've had this.
I'm not going to say it's aconspiracy theory, I'm just
going to say it's a statement.
If YouTube could just be acontent creation machine without

(04:03):
the creators, it would becomeinstantly more profitable and it
wouldn't have all thosecreative problems it has to
worry about where we complainabout.
I mean, that's true but wouldviewers stand for it?
That's where I, that's what Idon't know.
Well, so you say that, butpeople are watching stuff now
and are happy with it and don'trealize it's not real.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
People are watching because they want human
connection I agree with that.
They're just like if they werebamboozled by AI.
I think the second they foundout that it was AI, they would
hate it.
Like, why would you want toconnect with, like a robot?
Like you're watching yourfavorite creators do literally

(04:47):
anything?
Well, you know like you'rewatching someone online that you
have like a parasocialrelationship with.
Go grocery shopping Like you'rehanging out, but like as soon
as you find out that's AI.
I don't I think immediatelylike ties are cut.
I got bad news for you, jen, Igot.
Bad news for you, I, I got badnews for you.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I just watched a Good Morning America thing where
this guy is falling in love withhis AI.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Okay, well, we didn't talk about that.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Well, it's kind of the same thing We've got Black
Mirror episodes about that.
People are falling in love withtheir AI, and it's a scary world
.
What does that mean for contentcreation?
Well, youtube is going to allowyou to use more ai type tools
for content creation.
The one thing I'm unsure about,uh, is how much of it's going
to be monetizable, and it's it'ssomething that they're not
really talking about, becausethey have mentioned, um, some of

(05:35):
the music ai stuff you can use,um, like some of it can be
claimed or something, or itisn't monetizable.
I just saw a help page aboutthis, like yesterday, so it's
hard to know whether, if youmake an entire, there's a lot of
and I hesitate to use this termbut there's a lot of slop
content on YouTube, on YouTubeAI, faceless slop, as they call

(06:00):
it.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Disclaimer not on vidIQ.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
That's not a thing.
No, on YouTube, um, you know, people are just trying to make
money or or do these kind oflike low effort things, and I
think this is just going to getworse with, yes, the advent of
this sort of thing, and I'mhoping that viewers reject it
yeah, because you're in aposition where, like there's no
skills necessary, like there's acertain level of skills, like

(06:30):
you need to participate onyoutube and sure you can learn
them.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Like it's not the most difficult thing to get
started to make like your firstvideo.
But like now with ai, like youdon't need anything.
You can have a completelyfaceless AI voice channel and
you're disconnected from theentire process.
That's done for you.

(06:54):
And I think that's the problemwe have now is, before you had
to have this desire to learn, you had to want to be on youtube
and learn these skills andcontinue to like work hard on
these skills.
And now there's a lot ofshortcuts for those skills but
at the end of the day, like Idon't think they make better

(07:16):
content.
I have yet to see a situationwhere this ai skill set has
taken over and I would ratherwatch that than somebody that's
putting in the time and likedoing it in their own way.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I think we're closer to that tipping point than you
might think, because the way AIgrows is exponential.
If you think about just a yearago what AI was like versus now,
it's way different.
It's like an order of magnitude.
The way that humans and the waywe do things and we expand over
the history of the world takesa lot longer than what ai has

(07:53):
had to do in the same amount oftime.
Like it's wild but gen tendo issuper expanding rapidly.
Okay, she is like on the the topend of everything.
But I do want to show realquick something which we never
do here, but I actually want totake a moment to do this.
I want to show where AI can bevery helpful, and here's what

(08:13):
we're going to do.
I'm going to show vidIQ.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
I think helpful is the key word, though that's what
you're saying is like helpful.
It's like lean on AI for helpbut not to actually create.
Yeah, like lean on AI for helpbut not to actually create.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Correct?
Yeah, I agree.
Well, to a certain degree.
Let me show you what I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, I mean we're speaking for, like you know, the
part we're talking about, notnot the AI Moses.
Let's leave him.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
He's great Moses got to stay back.
He's got to stay part in theRed Seas no-transcript using
lately, which is the scriptwriter.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Now what's interesting is I don't wait, I
can actually vouch for this, because travis has been blowing
all of us up about I know.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Okay, can I just say that up until this thing was
created for us, I didn't usescripts.
I don't like them.
I'm like ah, that's notcreative.
You can't be in the moment.
Never used scripts in my life.
This thing was created.
We came up with it here atVidIQ, using a whole bunch of AI
stuff, and all of a sudden, I'musing it all the time, and I'll
show you why I use it all thetime.
Even if you aren't someone whoreads a script, it's actually

(09:22):
really good at doing researchfor you for a video.
So here's where we are.
If you're watching the YouTubevideo, I highly recommend, if
you're not listening, if you'renot watching it, to watch this
part, because this is reallyamazing.
So, jen, I want you to give meeither a working title about
something or a main topic and inreal time, here on the show,
we're going to make a scriptabout something.
I'm going to show you how coolthis is and this is available if

(09:43):
you use vidIQ and again, I'mnot doing it just because I'm
shilling this, but because I'mthoroughly impressed by this and
use it now.
So give me an idea of somethingit can be anything.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
What I ate in a day, eating only sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Okay, wait, I only eat sandwiches, and then what's
like the thing.
I only eat sandwiches and thenwhat's like the thing, I only
eat sandwiches, and what andwhat I learned from that,
something like that, or well, Iwas just going more on like a
typical.
What I eat in a day onlysandwiches I'm expecting
breakfast sandwich lunchsandwich, dinner sandwich, jen,
I'm attacked.
I really only eat sandwich.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
I'm not even that's me that's like this is gonna be
good for you.
It's gonna give you some newrecipes all right.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
So what I'm putting in here is I want a 10
minuteminute script about I onlyeat sandwiches every day.
The tone which is like you cansay.
You want it to be casual, formal, informative story.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Maybe put recipes into the title.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Oh, okay, what did we say?
I only eat sandwiches every day.
These are my favorite recipes.
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
These are my favorite recipes.
I have no idea what's going isgoing.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
I don't know where this is going either.
But I'm very curious because ifwe both get like a sandwich
recipe out of this, I'm pumped.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Oh, reoccupies, why did it?

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Why is it my favorite reoccupies.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Recipes.
There we go.
All right, the tone I think weshould use like storytelling.
I think that'd be fun.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Oh, okay, I like this .

Speaker 1 (11:00):
So it's gonna be a 10 minute.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Um thing now video about sandwiches, let's go.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
So right now the I starting to look, think about
this and go.
What do you?
Okay, now it's asking me oh doyou want your video to focus on
quick, everyday?
Sandwiches or gourmet, uniquerecipes or a mix of both oh,
both, oh, we want to mix themboth, mix of both.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
All right, so now just coming on to our script
generator meal plan I love bythe way I eat sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
I had a sandwich for breakfast already, all right.
So now what it's doing ischecking a bunch of stuff.
Now, one of the things I willsay is what I like about this is
this AI now will look at thingsthat are recent.
So if you're doing somethingthat's in the news, it actually
will look at things and watchYouTube videos about it and then
give you feedback about it.
It actually will look at thingsand watch YouTube videos about
it and then give you feedbackabout it.
Now you can take the script andthen just read the script, or

(11:47):
you can take it as bullet pointsand use that for your own video
and just kind of go okay, Iwant to talk about this, this,
this and this, and it's alreadyresearched for you, which is
what's to me, that's the biggestpart.
Now look, here's the threedifferent ones we can choose
from.
I only eat sandwiches every day.
These are my favorite recipesmy sandwich addiction, from PB&J
to gourmet feasts oh my god, oryou won't believe these

(12:09):
sandwiches I eat daily.
Which one of those do we wantto go more into?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
I'm kind of going from the transformation from
PB&J to gourmet sandwiches.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
You want to do that one.
Yeah, let's go with that one,we're going to click that one
one hit, continue and now it'sgonna do.
It's gonna do more magic behindthe scenes.
If you're watching youtubevideo, you're seeing what it's
doing.
It's saying it's building asolid foundation.
It's gonna find all thesethings and I asked it to make a
10 minute script so I'll be ableto do like a 10 minute youtube
video on this.
Now, of course, you've got todo your own b-roll and all that
other stuff yeah, I mean, thisis a tool, like we have tools.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
We are not here providing like fully ai content,
like these are to help you, right, right, you know, this is
like we came up with the ideawe're laughing, we're playing
with the different ideas, we'remaking decisions and now we're
using the tools to our advantageyes, and it's saving time.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
the thing that I like about this most is it saves me
time.
So when I would do pieces thatI'm trying to get across a point
or something like that about asubject, I would have to do a
bunch of research, I'd have totake the notes, I'd have to do
all these things.
This thing is doing it in lessthan five minutes.
It's doing all the researchgoing on the Internet.
It's looking through YouTubevideos, looking through articles
.
It's taking all thatinformation, boiling it down and

(13:24):
then giving you a script.
But again you could literallygo back through it and then
bullet point and go make this abullet point.
Let me give it my own words.
But at least the research isdone and I can point out
different things, and that'swhat I love about this.
So it's still it's hammeringout.
The first draft is what it saysright now.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Love it.
I'm so excited to find outabout how I went from PB&J.
By the way, I hate peanutbutter.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
You know this, though , right Wait, did I know that
you hate peanut butter?
I don't like peanut butter.
I like jelly, but I don't likepeanut butter at all.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Oh my gosh, well, what a true transformation it
would be.
Sandwiches you hate.
Sandwiches you love.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I used to make sandwiches that I hated, and now
I love sandwiches.
This is ridiculous.
And now it's doing some factchecking, which is great because
we know that back in the day aidid have some some issues with
fact checking things wait, doyou like anything?

Speaker 2 (14:09):
peanut butter?
No, I don't like nuts.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
I don't like nuts, so I will eat a reese's peanut
butter cup.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
If it's there like I won't actively go get it but if
someone's literally the same asmy husband and I'm convinced he
likes peanut butter and he, hisargument is that Reese's are not
peanut butter.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
It has peanut butter.
I don't look at Reese's as apeanut butter treat.
It does have something.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Ew, this conversation's over.
I don't like losing.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Oh well, let me just say that I'm with your hubby on
this one.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Oh, my God, the two of you.
Oh, can we get some otherpeople in the comments to say
that Reese's are in fact peanutbutter and you have to like
peanut butter if you like?

Speaker 1 (14:51):
a Reese's cup, but I don't like peanut butter and I
don't mind this is a new war.
How do we get?

Speaker 2 (14:57):
back onto candy Like what?
How did we get here?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
There's no way we can't be talking about candy in
this podcast.
I have no idea how do we gethere?
Ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Also I was watching.
I don't think that Reese's areas popular in the UK because
I've been binging Jolly's theirseries of having high school
students try American things anda lot of times like Reese's
come up as like being very, veryAmerican.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yeah, I did not know that.
I mean, I'm sure they're likeavailable.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
but probably more popular.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
It's something that's just like not popular.
We should ask Rob.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
That's we need to have Rob on and talk about it.
Yeah, that's a.
I think that's something that'simportant.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Okay, all the videos.
Just make Rob do them.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Well, you know we have to ask him the peanut
butter question then.
So he lived in.
You know he's been in Americamany times and he's lived in
British Columbia, so he willdefinitely know about Reese's.
So we'll have to see if hethinks that it's a peanut butter
treat or not.
I guess leave us a commentbelow or an email.
I'm sure no one is payingattention to it at this point.
We're just talking about candy,okay.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
We'll come back to this While we're waiting for the
script.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's uh, while we're waiting
for this it's almost done, we'regonna, I'm gonna uh get to the
first email, so uh, of course,if you're new here, I like this.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I like this storytelling.
It's like we'll come back tothat.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Yeah, we're going to come back to that.
Hang tight, hang on to yourbritches.
If you'd like to email us, youcan send us an email at
theboostvideoqcom or we'll tryto give you an answer.
At least we try to.
We're pretty smart, we knowsome things and sometimes we're
right.
It depends.
Comes from Superfit Cosplay.
We've heard them from the DownUnder.
Hey, team Superfit Cosplay.

(16:45):
Here again, I'm trying to grow.
Of course, my videos get moreand more comments.
I try to answer all of them, but it does get to the point at
some stage.
Oh, it does get to the point atsome stage.
Work, because it's not myfull-time job, I can't really
keep up.
Some of my videos have hundredsof comments.
Whilst I like to reply toeveryone, sometimes I can't.
Does this hurt my reach orchances for the video to grow?

(17:05):
Also, I've been trying to playwith shorts.
I'm sorry about it, jen.
And then, last question I'vebeen playing with shorts too.
Well, actually we'll get asecond question after this first
one.
So, answering comments, this issomething that we deal with on
the main channel, right?
A lot of big YouTubers have athing they do where they just

(17:26):
sit there for the first hour andthen after that it is what it
is.
Is that?
How do you tend to handle thissort of situation?

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Jen, I handle or answer comments that just like
really stand out to me, and it'sdifferent every time, but I
don't try to answer every singleone Sure in a perfect world but
also like some comments arejust comments, Like they don't
need a reply.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
You hit the heart on it.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yeah, oh yeah.
I definitely like heart, tonsof them but I don't think all
comments need a reply, so, likeones that really stand out to me
, are ones that are like veryfunny, and I will go in and
reply, which I think is so funnyresponse.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
That's what stood out to me I think that's fun, I'm
excited for that, I was likewhat well, remember there used
to be video responses on youtubeback back in the day.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Remember that I don't remember that, no as the
creator used to be able to leavea video response to comments I
do not remember that, but likethe voice comments I'm like
that's fun and that is quick andI think it's I like like a
super comment.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
I would do that reply yeah, so for people don't know
they're, um, that's somethingthat sounds like it's coming out
, where you'll be able to leavea voice comment in response to a
comment that you get, which Ithink will be a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Um, oh no, I don't think this creator should put
that much pressure on answeringevery comment.
I mean it's not feasible rightand that's just my approach.
I know a lot of creators, likeyou're saying, set aside that
time when a video goes live, butI just answer the ones that are
funny, and it's always somebodydifferent or it's always
something that just catches myattention speaking of great

(19:03):
comments that get a lot ofattention.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Uh, I noticed a lot of people jen were agreeing with
me that you pop out the videosin the tabs to watch multiple
videos back and back.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
That's disgusting.
All of you are animals a lot ofpeople backing me up.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
I just want to say that, of course, because it's
the right way to do it.
We don't know what Jen does.
I don't know what she does allof you are so bizarre.
Jen, all of us do it.
What are you talking about?
You're the only one thatdoesn't do it.
That makes you bizarre.
What are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (19:30):
You're the only one that doesn't do it.
That makes you bizarre.
What are you talking about?
Yeah, I guess.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
so I guess so, but still Were you really shocked.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
That is just like the craziest thing to me.
Yeah, you're genuinely shockedby that.
I'm not opening a new tab foranything.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Like I'm a one tab girl.
Oh, all right, good, and wethink his computer's going to
explode.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Our arch nemesis.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Oh my God, me and my one tab and his like thousand
tabs, bro.
That freaked me out.
I was watching that and I waslike what are you doing?
He's trying to blow hiscomputer up.
Okay, let's go back to thesecond part of this question.
Last question I have beencontacted by a company named
RHEI.
They claim that they payYouTubers to be available for AI

(20:12):
.
In other words, they wouldlicense out my stuff so that AI
can learn from it.
They claim I keep the licensingand revenue per normal from
AdSense and I can continue otherpartnerships.
Have you heard of this companyor anything like this?
This is legit.
Now here's the funny thingYouTube already does this for
free.
They're already using videos totrain their ai.
So you're you might as well getpaid, I guess that's so sketchy

(20:35):
to me, I don't know yeah, itdoes sound sketchy, but by the
same token.
So the question is do you haveto give up anything or are they
just going to pay you for therights, like in other words, do
they need access to your accountif they like, say we need your
login and stuff, nah, don't doit.
Nope, zero.
If're saying is hey, can wejust use your stuff?
I mean I would.
It's already being done withoutyou being paid for it.

(20:57):
So for me, pay me.
Don't sign, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
I would say it gets sketchy though, because if
you're licensing something outlike, they have the rights to
your content now to do.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Well, now to do well, so I would look at the contract
, yeah, maybe.
Yeah, you gotta make sure thatyou are paying attention to what
you're signing.
If you're signing something, becareful.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Be careful, right um next thing you know, you're in a
commercial in japan.
You're 100 in a commercial injapan.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
What are you talking about?
That's 100 happening.
You're definitely going to bein a.
I would.
I would love to be in ajapanese commercial.
I'd be amazing.
I, a Japanese commercial.
I'd be amazing, I'd love that.
All right, let's get to ournext email, and it looks like
our script is done too, butwe're going to do this next
email first.
This one comes from Tim Hi, jenagain, and still, travis, you

(21:44):
answered my multi channelquestion 100% to my satisfaction
, thank you, I'm a bit of aYouTube addict.
How could you tell these aren'ta business?
Um, there's not supposed to bean income, but it's a nice.
It's nice that they have uh,they make around a hundred
dollars a month in ads, sothat's always listen, that's
extra money, that's money.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
You have tim and I would be very good friends if we
were in?
Like a chat.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
We would each of us be starting a new channel every
week uh, since I've right, I'vewrote in, I've had some, I made
some and, jen, please forgive meto decide to not create a
fourth channel is what they'resaying and incorporate that
content to one of the others.
Thank you for giving mepermission to not niche down.
Yeah, no worries, listen, notevery answer has to be niche
down.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
This is the fun thing , though, because Tim is doing
YouTube from a different placethan a lot of people do, and
it's just fun and there's norules when it's fun.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Right.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
And it's just fun and there's no rules.
When it's fun, right, and it'sfun to see results.
When there's no rules, absolutely what are you talking?
I gotta know if you think inyoutube titles, if you're as
obsessed as some of us here, arethere times you can't shut off
your brain and you're literallythinking in youtube titles let
me ask you a question, jen.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
yeah, in the last 48 hours, how many youtube channel
ideas have you come up with foryourself?
Be honest, if there's zero, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
That's normal.
No, I don't think I've come upwith a new channel.
I've been playing with shortsthat are making fun of my
behavior Literally my behavior.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
With the darts.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Is that what that one was?
That one, yes, making fun ofyoutube behavior and then, like
I have my, we see a swivel, mydartboard that's so crazy.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
I love that you got to be on youtube to see what you
, just what she just showed.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
That was wild that and then also, like what I said,
like thinking in like YouTubetitles, like when I hang out
with like my YouTube friends, like something can come up and
like one of us will just say aYouTube title from it and it
like cracks both of us up.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
But like I can acknowledge when a good YouTube
title has come up, but I'm notthinking in YouTube titles.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
I mean, I think that's where we oh my gosh, it's
so, it's so, it's so funny.
I guarantee you, tim isthinking.
Youtube titles.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
He probably is.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Guarantee you, it's so, so funny, that's so weird.
You got to shut it off.
Yeah, so I haven't beenstarting channels, but I've been
thinking of content to makeabout the people like us that
cannot stop that behavior.
That's wild.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
All right, so our script is done that's wild.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
All right, so our script is done, let's go take a
look at it.
Uh, all right.
Oh, I'm so excited.
What are we?

Speaker 1 (24:16):
having for dinner tonight, travis.
So let's see, I'm gonna readjust a little bit of what the
script came up with and I'mgonna show you, if you're
looking at youtube video, howyou can kind of alter this.
So the title is my sandwichaddiction from pbj to gourmet
feast, the hook and I'm gonnaread this as if I'm doing the it
all kicked off with two slicesof bread and some peanut butter.
Sounds innocent, right?
Yeah, that's what I figured too.
I never dreamed that the basicpantry staple would spark a

(24:38):
full-blown food obsession, totally changing my meals and
turning my kitchen into a lab offlavors, textures Well,
honestly, eyebrow-raisingamounts of fancy bread.
So forget what you think asimple sandwich is.
You're about to see how wildthis sandwich thing can get.
And that's the hook.
I think that's pretty good,right.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Then there's like the intro.
They kind of talk some thingsthrough the spark Beyond PB&J,
the learning curve, oh, thelearning curve of making new
sandwiches.
Yeah, look at how this firstone starts.
Oh, my God, stop.
Yeah, look at how this firstone starts off.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Oh, my God, stop, they're going into bread details
.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Yes, of course.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Thank the Lord.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Let me tell you about that grilled cheese moment.
It's not a strict recipe, morelike a few key ideas.
First, the bread you needsomething that can hold up.
Sourdough is amazing for this.
Then the cheese Don't be shy, sourdough is the best, by the
way, a sourdough is the best, bythe way, it's a sourdough
grilled cheese like you can'teven top that.
No, it's, it's legit, um, butanyway.

(25:35):
So this is and you can readthis off but the cool thing
about it on the right hand side, you can refine the script.
You can do things like make itsound like mr beast, shorten the
script to under three minutes, use more analogies, uh, to
simplify complex parts, you cantype in anything you want here.
And then also, by the way, youcan actually just go in here and
directly edit the thing.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Oh, look at you type in turkey apple cheddar sandwich
.
Okay, what?

Speaker 1 (25:56):
The idea of turkey apple cheddar sandwich with that
sweet, and it's supposed to besavory, I think.
So let's put that back Savorything going on.
So yeah, you can come in hereand edit.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Oh, Travis, you made a homemade herb cream cheese for
that.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
It says I did Tomato cucumber.
First of all, I'm not touchingcucumber.
I'm not doing cucumber though.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Oh my God, what did cucumber do to you?

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Greer, greer.
Look at these different cheeses.
Maybe a greer or a fontana, Idon't know what that is?

Speaker 2 (26:24):
What's the final sandwich?
Oh, Getting Serious.
Part 3.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Where is it at?
Let's see.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
The last one, the, is part three.
Where is it at?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Let's see Go down the last one, the conclusion.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Wait, nope, up a little bit, up a little bit, I
think I said I saw it was a club.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
The obsession really kicks in the perfect club
sandwich.
Look at this.
Let's talk about the club.
It has to be a triple decker.
No ifs, ands or buts.
Toasted bread is a must.
Good quality roasted turkey andcrisp bacon are the stars.
By the way, I agree with this.
Fresh lettuce and ripe tomatoare the key supporting players.
Mayo should be lightly spreadon each layer of bread.

(27:02):
How you build it is everythingBread, mayo, lettuce, turkey and
then another slice of bread.
You know what I mean.
It's fun.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Oh, my god.
Okay, I lied.
My YouTube channel that I'mstarting is Travis, creating the
videos that I suggest.
This is an amazing idea.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
It's so much fun and again, like this is stuff that
gives you some good and if youhave to do the research about
new stories and stuff, thescript writer will do that for
you and it'll tell you likethings that have happened
recently, like I did this sofunny I did this as a live demo
for for a large content creatorand, um, it showed them news
stories that happened the weekprevious.

(27:41):
It was like, and this happenedon this date, it was like two
weeks ago and I'm like, holycrap.
So it's really amazing.
It's the script writer on vidiq.
So just go to vid iqcom, signup and uh up and try it out and
have fun and tell us whatscripts you've come up with.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah, tell us what scripts you try out, because I
feel like that one.
I saw hesitation in your eyes,Travis.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
Here's what we're going to do Putting it to the
test.
I saw the hesitation in thatscript that you showed up.
No, here's what's going tohappen.
Submit it to us and in like twoweeks, jen and I will read the
winning script.
So one of you out there, make ascript using our script writer
software, make it for two people, make it a minute long, because
you can tell it to do a minutelong, and Jen and I will read

(28:21):
the script.
We'll do it maybe at the studiothing.
I'll read one part, jen willread the other, and it can be
about anything, just make itwork appropriate.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
I was going to say, yeah, safe for work, safe for
work.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
So the way you do that is go to vidIQcom, sign up
and then use the script writer, like I showed here on YouTube.
Once you're done, a one-minutescript that has two people in it
so we can both take our turnsand we'll read it in a podcast.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Wait, I think we should take it even one step
shorter.
I think if we're going for ascript that short, like we
should, we should make the shortout of it when we're together
okay that we should make thevideo, that's.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I think that sounds amazing.
That sounds incredible so youcan have your.
I mean, make it something fun.
Make it something fun or funny.
I mean really we'll be inseattle, if that helps anybody
with ideas we'll be in seattle.
We will judge Whatever getssubmitted to us.
We'll pick the winner and thenwe'll record it during the
in-studio.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Before we get like an Eiffel Tower-like location
we'll be in Seattle.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Insane.
Yeah, please make it SeattleCentral.
It doesn't have to be.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Oh my gosh, that'd be so funny and then if it's good,
I mean we'll publish that.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
We will.
I mean, why not?
I think it'd be hilarious.
Oh my god.
All right, let's get to thisnext.
Uh, email from alan.
Also, if you're listening toaudio podcast, you can leave us
a text message.
There's a an option for that inthe show notes.
Hi, jen, hey, travis and jen.
I have a small channeldedicated to reviewing the
newest movie releases intheaters.
One question that always keepsme up at night where do other

(29:47):
youtubers get movie trailerfootage from?
Other youtubers use this kindof footage as B-roll, and I'd
like to do the same.
However, it is my understandingthat downloading directly from
YouTube is illegal.
Yet I suspect even the biggestof YouTubers dedicated to talk
about movies do this suspiciousactivity.
I've been lucky enough thatI've caught the attention of a
big movie studio and they are sokind in sending me materials so
that I can use as B-roll.
Yet the question remains howcan I get this footage to use

(30:10):
this b-roll in a legal way?
Thanks for your support.
First of all, congratulationson getting a studio that you.
I never hear of this that'salways they're always copyright
striking people.
I've never heard anyone say yeah, no, they were like here, use
it for b-roll.
That's amazing.
Congrats, um, fair use.
So we we've talked about fairuse before.
I think we have an entireepisode or something on it or a

(30:32):
video on it.
Make sure you check that out onthe YouTube channel, because
it's actually I think it's onthe main channel, because that's
the episode where we had IanCorzine, who's an actual lawyer,
talk about fair use.
They're probably getting itfrom other YouTube videos and
stuff.
I mean, some of them might begetting it from, like you are,

(30:53):
but that's where they're mostlygetting it from.
But fair use is a thing andthat means you can't just take
stuff, and I think the thingthat always stuck out to me
about that conversation with Ianis don't take the heart, which
is interesting.
So if it's a spoiler of a movie, it's.
There's a possibility that therights holder might not take

(31:14):
that in a good way and mighttake it down, more so than if
you just took parts that are inthe trailer anyway Like spoiler
alert.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
Yeah, it's tough.
Just because creators are whatyou think you know, getting away
with using it doesn't meanthey're not getting copyrights
left and right.
You just can't see that.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
How many times has a creator said to you, to you,
well, but this creator's doingand they're monetized, yeah,
like you don't know the behindthe scenes.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Just because it's allowed to, it's like not
blocked from youtube, doesn'tmean that they're seeing a scent
from that, doesn't mean thatit's not like trying to be taken
down.
I had a creator that also hadstudio connections and they
would be able to use footage andthey would still get copyrights
from it and they would have tolike prove that no, I was

(32:06):
allowed to use this and it wouldcome down to like the date too,
like if they used it a day tooearly than they were allowed to
like boom done.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Interesting.
It was a nonstop copyright waryeah, and when you're dealing
with copyrighted content, evenif you are using it in a fair
way, that is just the nature ofthe game.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
And God help you if it's Disney.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
Oh Lord, or even Nintendo.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Nintendo's kind of vicious too sometimes.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Hey, all right, nintendo, nintendo's kind of
vicious too sometimes.
Alright, last one for today isthis one.
This one comes from Mark, hey, hey, jen and Travis.
I propose we have a NationalvidIQ, the Boost Appreciation
Day.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Oh my gosh, I love it .
Wait does that mean we have towork or we get work off?

Speaker 1 (32:50):
That's a great question.
Let's see what he says.
I initially thought a good dayfor this would be on George
Renner's birthday, the inventorof candy corn back in the 1880s.
Unfortunately, historicalrecords are vague so there's no
exact date.
Then I moved on to the Cadburyegg, invented by British
chocolatier fries in 1963.
Again, no clear single personor dates.
Wow.
Ultimately I decided theopening day of the Chicago

(33:17):
World's Fair, may 1st 1893,where technology, culture and
influence all came together inone place much like YouTube
today.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
What do you guys?

Speaker 1 (33:21):
think May 1st.
Sorry for the history lesson.
This is just how my brain works.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
I love that.
I mean, normally I would voteMay 1st if we didn't just pass
that holiday.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
Right, we just you know, it's a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Let's move it to the summer, shall we?

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Can we get it like tomorrow, wait, tomorrow's
Saturday?
We don't want that.
No, we want it on a day of theweek where we don't have to work
.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
I like it.
How do we feel about June 3rdfor a four-day weekend?

Speaker 1 (33:42):
I think we should go back.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Or July 3rd, sorry July 3rd, just randomly, right
Right before.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
July 4th, we did something like this.
It should be a day that like,uh, something big happened on
the podcast, which I think maybewould be the first time we
talked about cadbury eggs andcandy corn, I believe I don't
know, I would put it aroundhalloween before halloween so
maybe in october yeah, I, Iwould love someone to go back
through the episodes and figureout the first episode that we

(34:10):
talked about candy corn and andcadbury egg, and to me that's
the because october first boostappreciation day I mean it could
be actually it could I don'tknow it as soon as they're
released.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
I don't even know when they get released in stores
, but as soon as I see them, that's it could be august for
all we know.
I could about to be in candycorn soon I hate to.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
I hate to admit this, but remember, right before um
easter was over, I bought like24 cadbury eggs or whatever it
was yeah, he did, I still havesome.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
I'm still going through them I think that's good
, because they're disgusting.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
You should savor them and they're not coming out
again until next year.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
So wait I need to look up my custom headphone
covers before it's too late Iprobably shouldn't show this
because I'm going to show itduring the podcast episode.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
We're in the studio, but I'm going to anyway, hold on
.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
He's going to do it.
I got to make a note to myselfto look for those again.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
You know you'll see this when we're in the studio,
but this was done for us byHaley Studios.
I got the shirt made.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Oh, oh, it's not going.
Daily Studios I got the shirtmade.
Oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, it's notgoing.
Well, can you see it?
Kind of it's a preview.
It's a preview.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
It's a preview.
Yeah, you're not supposed tosee it all anyway, it's a sneak
preview.
I'll be wearing that shirt inthe studio.
I'm excited about that.
The Candy Core headphones hascaught the imagination of many,
although I think the Cadburyheadphones I would love that.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
I don't know how they would actually do it.
I wish I was crafty enough itcan't be that hard.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
This is like plastic, Like this is.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
I bet a Cricut or a 3D printer could do it.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
I don't think a Cricut could do it, because it
doesn't really handle.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Like, this is like hold on, let me oh, asmr, you
know, rob could do this for yourob could do it actually I just
thought of that I'm like who dowe know with a 3d?
Printer and he loves printingstuff oh my gosh, I'm like rob,
make me candy corn covers itwould cost a million dollars to
ship it to you, but it would beworth it, because you'd be the
only one that has them.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Interesting, I'll have to inquire.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
You should inquire to him.
You'd probably have to designit.
You could get the templateonline and then you would just
design it.
Just put the candy corn on it,or whatever.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
I just trace this on notebook paper and send it to
Rob.
Well, wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
Actually, even better Are those magnetic and send it
to Rob.
Well, wait a minute.
Actually, even better, Evenbetter Wait.
Are those magnetic, the onesyou're using right now?
Are they magnetic?

Speaker 2 (36:38):
No, no, they're not magnetic, oh, they just stick on
.
Oh, okay, yeah, they just formon.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Oh, I was going to say, then you just get a sticker
, because you can just put asticker on them, yeah, but they
wouldn't look be the better move.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
They would just be striped, which I mean.
If that's the route I have togo, then no, I think you could
get it.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
I will, but I, by the way, then.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
I would look like maybe a little elf too.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
By the way, there are websites where you can order 3D
printed stuff and they'll printit and send it to you.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
I'm going to look into it.
Yes, the only one that has thisneed.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
You're kind of obsessed because you've been
talking about it for weeks now, which I think is amazing.
I love it Well.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
I've had these headphone covers for so long and
I'm like I need to move on tolike a fresh design something
else.
Seasonal.
I just changed them.
I need to start a collection.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Well, anyway, listen.
I hope that you've enjoyed whatwe talked a lot about nothing
for a long portion of thispodcast, but you know what?
That's why you love us.
Broke down the script tool andthat was crazy.
I'm gonna run a current scriptI have through it and see what
it's so good, jen, jen, it's sogood.
And again with it.
Yet I, I, I'm almost obsessedwith it, it's.
I've done a couple of uh videosnot almost, travis.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Okay, look, not almost.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
All right, this has been several weeks now it's one
of the one of the tools we'vecome out with over the last
couple years.
That is probably one of myfavorite ones, which is saying
something.
I like that.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
We should all do like a you know when they do like a
company video where it's likemeet Jen and it's like our
favorite tool.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Yeah, actually not a bad idea, it's like meet Travis.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
He's obsessed with the script writer.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and he doesn't even like scripts,
it's true, it's very true, Ilike it.
So, anyway, if you areinterested in that, there's a
link in the description below, and all the other things in the
show notes.
Having said all that, we thankyou so much for joining us and
we can't tell you how much weappreciate the messages, the
emails, the text messages, thecomments on the YouTube video.
We enjoy it very, very much.
Jen and I are going back in thestudio so we'll have a whole
bunch of those episodes, superexcited for that.

(38:37):
And, of course, like I said, ifyou want to send us a script
using our script what is it?
App, I guess send it totheboostvideoqcom and we'll go
through the best ones.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
Should we throw back an old little segment?

Speaker 1 (38:49):
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
What have you watched onyoutube this last week?
Oh, yes, well, let's, let's dothat.
I'll tell you it's, and I'lltell you what mine are.
But it's more.
It's more of a series, morethan just a video okay, wait, my
answer is the same what is it?

Speaker 2 (39:06):
what are you watching ?

Speaker 1 (39:08):
well, so I've been.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Look, here's the thing if it's the same, it's not
, there's no way I'm signing off, so fast it's impossible to be,
so there's literally zero.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Okay, go ahead, tell me what it is it is a british tv
show now, um, this happens fromtime to time.
Youtube will recommendsomething that I'm mildly
interested in and then you know, you get the rabbit hole for
weeks, right?
You're just watching all thethings yeah so this one, this
this show, is uh called uhnightmare tenants, slum
landlords, and uh I've beenwatching this last week, what?

Speaker 2 (39:40):
this is what I've been watching jen, stop it.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
See she's trying to.
I'm like come on, jen, come on,she's over here for a half a
second.
She, she caught me.
I'm like wait, no, no, no, no,no.
I would know that you weretelling the truth if you
literally like shut down, because you'd be like like yeah,
oh, darn I know what your realreaction would be, so that's why

(40:05):
you didn't trick me all right.
So what are you watching?

Speaker 2 (40:09):
okay, wait, but elaborate on your, your.
What was it?

Speaker 1 (40:12):
landlords yeah, so it's um nightmare.
Tenants, slum landlords uh, thevast majority of the episodes
are landlords trying to kickpeople out of their house for um
, for non-payment, and for um uh, squatting, and it's terrible.
I feel like I feel so stronglyabout this, like how can you own

(40:32):
a property that you rent tosomeone they don't pay you and
it costs you thousands ofdollars and months to get them
out?
You're stealing from them.
How can you steal my car and Ican get you arrested, but you
can steal my house and I can'tdo nothing but kick you out and
it costs me money.
How is that a thing?

Speaker 2 (40:49):
That's absolutely insane.
So it's wild to see theseinteractions what they have to
go through yeah, and then theinteraction like how much does
it really like you have so muchstrength as a person to be like
I'm not leaving?

Speaker 1 (41:03):
bro, some of these people are so self-righteous
it's wild.
Like you haven't paid rent in16 months.
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (41:10):
you don't and they're just like, straight up, like so
yeah, they're like.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
Well, just give me as soon as the bailiffs come.
Sure, then I'll leave Likebrother, are you serious?
And then they go in the houseand it's trashed every time,
just trashed, just destroyedevery time.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Oh my gosh, I'm actually going to need links.
I definitely want to watch this.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
I'm literally in the middle of watching an episode
right before we started hereI'll even share my screen.
Look my god, I'm gonna show youright now.
Let's share, share screen again.
You gotta be watching onyoutube to see what it's going
on here.
So this episode?
Uh, it probably yeah.
So I was watching this.
And then there's like theproperty inspectors and you can
see like it's so funny and thislady, poor lady, was trying to
get the get these people kickedout and she they won't leave,

(41:52):
they haven't paid for.
Like, what a cute little house.
Look at that With all the crap.
The guy just left everythingoutside.
It's just, it's terrible, man.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
People are nuts.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
It's a great show to watch.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
So it's kind of upsetting that makes the best TV
.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
What are you watching ?

Speaker 2 (42:05):
I've been watching Ryan Trahan's series.
His 50 States in 50 Days, raising a million dollars for St
Jude's oh, that's so cool.
It is such a crazy good series.
I have loved all of Ryan Trahanseries and his normal content.
I kind of fall off for it's alittle bit young for me most of
the time, or at least it kind ofturned very young and then back

(42:27):
into this series is like I feltlike we just got the Ryan
Trahan we've always loved and hehas his wife with him, which I
watch her channel regularly, andit is literally so crazy.
The amount of money and thepeople donating.
It is just mind-blowing.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
That's so cool yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
So it's out every single day.
So I've been watching it dailyand, yeah, it's so crazy day.
So I've been watching it, wow, daily and, yeah, it's so crazy.
I think, from a youtubeperspective, like it is nuts to
think of the planning thatactually went into this series
and I feel like the behind thescenes that we know would exist
but a viewer would not knowexists, yeah, and it's like

(43:10):
really fun to like pick apartand be skeptics at what actually
was planned and stuff, but itis just so good.
Highly recommend it.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
