Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey everyone, welcome back to the Turn Down the
Hustle podcast.
Today we are going to talkabout something that's not only
fun and exciting, but it is alsoa super effective way for you
to sell your products and clearout your inventory pretty
quickly.
Ideally, it's good for anyhandmade products that you have

(00:22):
really any products you have onhand and we're going to leverage
online to sell them.
We're talking about Fast Finger.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Friday, you're listening to Turn Down the
Hustle, the podcast dedicated totransforming how you run your
creative online t-shirt businessby working smarter, not harder,
so you can spend more time withyour why, people and passions
that matter most in your life.
So throw on your favoritegraphic tee and turn up the heat
press, because it's time toturn down the hustle.

(00:52):
Here's your host digitalmarketer, cold brew lover,
t-shirt maker, freckled hypegirl and owner of Sunkist
Virtual Assistant, amy.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
So some of you may have stared at your unused
inventory and thought what am Igoing to do with these designs?
I can't get them to sell on mywebsite.
What am I going to do with someof these mystery items or
inventory that just has notmoved?
Like you thought?
It was going to be a hot sellerand your audience had different

(01:23):
plans.
Fast Finger Friday is acreative way to get these things
sold quickly and with a lot ofenergy and excitement for your
audience.
But bear in mind, though, thisis not just about sales, because
Fast Finger Friday is a greatway to bring your audience
together with something exciting, also increasing engagement in

(01:46):
your group.
And then also, we can use thisopportunity to actually, in turn
, show our customers the valueof paying full price for custom
items.
And stick around to the end ofthis episode, because I have
something special for you.
It is a free Fast Finger Friday.

(02:06):
You say that three times fast.
A free Fast Finger Fridaychecklist to help you plan and
execute and then crush yourevents.
So stick around, but withoutfurther ado, let's get started.
Okay, so let's lay down thefoundation and talk about the
basics.
What exactly is Fast FingerFriday?

(02:27):
Think of it like a flash sale, right?
So normally we're used to FlashSale Friday, except for this
one has a twist.
This is how it's going to work.
So you're going to post a bunchof designs, each with a
starting price let's say they'regoing to be $20.

(02:49):
And these designs do not have, and these designs are not yet
pressed onto a shirt, becausethen it takes away the ability
for you to choose a color, orthey have to get stuck with the
size.
So we're doing designs.
Only the first person thatcomments gets it at your
starting price.
Again, let's say it's 20, butthen this is where it gets fun.

(03:09):
Let's say that you have threedesigns or three in stock of
that design the same design.
The first person gets it for 20.
The second person to comment, the price increases by a dollar,
so they pay $21 for the sameitem, and the third person gets
it for $22.
And then you're sold out Somethings you might only have one

(03:31):
of, so they have to just claimit and that's it.
But either way, this will keepgoing until that design sells
out.
The reason why, one of thereasons why Fast Finger Friday
works so well, is because itcreates that sense of urgency
and excitement, and people lovecompetition, right, and this is
a way to tap into that naturalhuman instinct of I want to win.

(03:55):
It's fast paced, it's engagingand your customers will love the
thrill of stagging that deal.
It's also a great way.
I think probably the best partof all of this is it's a
fantastic way to clear out yourinventory that might be taking
up space and once it's sold, youcan write it off as cost of

(04:15):
goods sold.
And while you're offering yourFast Finger Friday items, I
highly recommend that it's goingto be on a mystery tea color so
they can pick out their size.
But you're going to pick outthe color?
Why?
Because they're not paying fullprice.
So by showing them, hey, whenever you do pay full price,

(04:39):
the benefit you're getting isyou're getting the product
exactly how you would want todesign it, right.
But if you're paying a lowerrate, the trade-off is I'm going
to pick the color that it comeson.
So then that also helps youmove any shirt inventory or
blank shirts you might havesitting around.
So why do different ways to sellmatter?

(05:02):
Like you might already havesomething going on that's
working for you right and youmight be thinking why switch it
up?
One of the biggest mistakes Isee t-shirt business owners make
is getting stuck in one way ofselling.
Maybe you're only using yourwebsite, or you're relying
solely on just static socialmedia posts.

(05:24):
Or, if you're in the productjob organizer club, you're only
doing the weekly drops andcalling it good.
While these methods are greatdon't get me wrong they can get
stale for you and your audience.
Let's be real, right, but FastFinger Friday can help you bring
in some of that energy.
Switching up how you sellthings keeps things interesting

(05:47):
and engages different types ofbuyers.
Not everyone shops the same way.
Some people love browsing yourwebsite at their own pace.
I know I love going throughbefore I make a purchase.
I'm probably going to everypage on your website to see
everything you have and get asense of your business before I
check out.
But again, not everyone shopsthe same.

(06:08):
Others thrive on the energy ofa live event or the urgency of a
flash sale like Fast FingerFriday.
By diversifying your salesmethods, you are making your
business accessible to morepeople.
Have you ever thought of itlike that In creating more
opportunities for sales?

(06:29):
Because you are diversifyingall of your different options.
So, yes, we're talking aboutFast Finger Friday.
But here are a few other ideaswhile we're at it.
So the first one being livesales.
Live sales are great because itcreates that personal
connection and allows you toshowcase your products in real

(06:50):
time.
If someone has a question abouta size, or they want to know if
something fits in the bag thatyou're offering, or can you hold
up the shirt so I can get anidea of how it looks like on you
, and so forth, you can do thatreal time customer service at
its peak.
Also, themed events so you cantie your events to like holidays

(07:15):
, seasons or anything like thatto add an extra sense of
interest.
For example, like if you wantedto add a theme to Fast Finger
Friday, you could do Valentine'sDay Spoiler alert.
Those in my product droporganizer club.
We are doing a Valentine's Daytheme, fast Finger Friday.
One last ditch effort to getrid of our Valentine's Day items

(07:40):
before we probably get stuckwith them or we can no longer
beat turnaround time.
So a shipping to get it to themin time.
So we're planning our saleearlier.
That way we can try to sellthese items close to full price
as possible and then, if wecan't sell them, that's where
we're going to focus our effortsand de-stashing it.

(08:00):
Just try to get rid of thosedesigns, to get them off our
inventory.
And going back to live sales, real quick, could you turn your
Fast Finger Friday into a livesale now that you think about it
like that?
Or hey, I'm going to hold upthis item.
The first one to get it needsto claim it or use a certain

(08:22):
word.
So the person that I see thatdoing this best is Mona with oh
so Crafty Wholesale.
I'll leave information abouther business in the show notes.
Her live selling method isamazing.
While it's not called FastFinger Friday, it sure does
emulate some of the samecomponents, because it is fast
paced, it's fun, it's engagingand we get to know her more

(08:45):
through those personalconnections.
So, again, if you want someexamples of live selling, I
highly recommend you check outMona with oh so Crafty Wholesale
.
So, switching up thesedifferent sales methods again,
you're not only reaching abroader audience because you're
plugging into different placesyou might not have found them
before, but you're also keepingyour existing customers engaged

(09:09):
and, trust me, when youraudience feels engaged, they're
way more likely to buy.
Okay, so how do we host a FastFinger Friday in your Facebook
group anyhow.
So let's talk about how to hostthis event.
So the first thing you want todo inside of your Facebook group
, anyhow.
So let's talk about how to hostthis event.
So the first thing you want todo inside of your Facebook group
.
You could do it on a page aswell, but these directions are

(09:30):
going to be covering how to doit in a private Facebook group.
I want you to create a Facebookevent.
Start by setting up this event, just so you can alert your
audience to what is to come.
They can also mark attending,so then you can ensure a higher
likelihood of reaching themwhenever you make posts into
this event.
Talk about all of the details, talk about when is it happening,

(09:52):
talk about how it works, andthen you can give them a sneak
peek into what it's going toinclude to encourage them to
come back.
Or you can keep some of thosedetails private.
Or you can keep some of thosedetails private, or you can drip
some of those details leadingup to the event to keep up that
excitement.
The good thing about Facebookevents is it will send automatic

(10:13):
reminders to everyone who RSVPs.
So definitely encourage peopleto mark attending.
Encourage them to do that.
That way it helps you get thatbetter turnout spending.
Encourage them to do that.
That way it helps you get thatbetter turnout.
Okay, next I want you to prepareyour inventory.
So do not wait until the lastminute to figure out what you're
selling.
Organize your designs ahead oftime, write down your starting

(10:34):
prices and have everything readyto go.
You can also use this as anopportunity to either take a
clear picture of the designblank you can find a mock-up of
it like a digital mock-up topost, however you want to do
that or you can take a pictureof it like on a flat lay of a
previous design that you'vealready made on a shirt.
So a completed shirt look.

(10:54):
But make sure you are preparingyour inventory, make sure you
have all of your items ready togo, because when this event
kicks off, it's going to berapid fire posting and when
you're trying to post that's nota good time for you to try to
figure out what you want to post.
Or taking pictures.
Okay, next, set clear shippingdetails.
So you want to be a front abouthow much shipping will cost.

(11:18):
You have a few options.
You can charge a flat rate, sosay, like $8 for all.
So that's just under what itwould probably cost priority.
So, assuming they're going togo over that pound, you can set
that flat rate.
Or you can say like freeshipping over a certain amount
so it encourages them to spendmore.

(11:38):
You can also say that shippingwill be calculated by weight.
So once you get these items inif you have shopify really any
platform should be able to dothis, but I'm super familiar
with shopify you want to add theweight of that item unpackaged.
Get that idea for your shirt, sothat's typically anywhere

(12:00):
between six and eight ounces.
Build a listing for that shirtso you can build like a fast
finger Friday shirt, somethinglike that.
And from there, whenever you goto build the invoice, once you
have their address plugged in,it will calculate shipping based
on the weight of the productsfor you.
Either way, make sure you knowwhat your customers can expect.

(12:22):
Delete.
Either way.
Make sure your customers knowwhat to expect.
The worst thing that can happenis that they make all of these
claims that are at their budgetlimit.
They get the invoice andrealize shipping is going to be
another $12, and then they tellyou they need to cancel.
It'd be better for them to knowup front how much they can

(12:44):
expect for shipping.
Okay, moving on, you got topromote, promote, promote.
So the more people who knowabout your event, the better.
Use all of the channelsavailable to get you the word
out.
So, even though you're using aFacebook group, you can still
post about it on your Facebookbusiness page.
You can use stories, instagramposts, send out a notification

(13:07):
to your email list.
You can use text reminders.
You can go on your website andcreate a countdown or change the
banner, the heading on the topof your website, something like
that, to draw attention fromyour website.
Also, take advantage of theFacebook group cover photos.
That is also very helpful tokeep your group updated with
what's coming up.

(13:28):
Next, make sure you areavailable to engage during the
event.
Next, make sure you areavailable to engage during the
event.
Fast Finger Friday is very fastpaced.
Depending on how many items youpost and how many people show
up to the event, the items couldgo fairly quick.
So make sure you stay engagedand active during the event.
Comment back.

(13:48):
Answer questions.
Keep the energy up and yourcustomers will be feeding off
your energy.
If you need an idea of whatexactly is going in this post
whenever I post Fast FingerFriday.
Here's an example or an ideathat can generate some
inspiration.
Example post could be FastFinger Friday starts now.

(14:12):
Here's how it works.
I'll be posting a lot ofdesigns with a starting price.
The first person to commentsold gets the item at that price
, but the fun it gets better.
Every additional sold commentraises the price by $1.
Example so the starting pricewould be $20.
Second person comment sold, they grab it for $21.

(14:34):
Third person $22.
So forth until the design runsout, however.
So here's what to do.
Number one watch the group feedclosely.
New designs will be posted asthe sale goes on.
Two be quick and comment soldto grab your item before someone
else does.
Three keep your payment infohandy.
Invoices will go out shortlyafter the event and you'll want

(14:58):
to secure your goodies ASAP Forshipping details.
All your items will be combinedfor one simple shipping fee by
weight, making it easy to stockup without worrying about
multiple charges.
Comment sold to secure yourdesign and let the fun begin.
If you weren't able to writeall of that down, don't worry, I
have something coming at theend of the episode that will

(15:20):
help you out.
So some pro tips for success.
Before we wrap up, here are afew tips to keep your Fast
Finger Friday event smooth andsuccessful as it could possibly
be.
So the first thing is use highquality photos.
Make sure your designs lookamazing in the post.
Now you don't want to over editor over filter, because when

(15:43):
someone gets the item, they'relike what?
This is a?
Completely.
This is a shade of blue in thedesign.
The way you posted it it lookedgreen.
Good lighting and clear imagescan make all the difference, but
there is a fine balance ofmaking sure it looks
representative to how the itemactually looks.
Also, make sure you areorganized.
Keep a spreadsheet or anotebook handy to track who

(16:06):
bought what and at what price.
This will make invoicing andshipping so much easier for you,
make invoicing and shipping somuch easier for you.
But I do have a spreadsheetprepared for you to keep track
of orders.
So again, hang tight and I'llmake sure you get a hold of that
.
Then, lastly, make sure youfollow up After the event.
Send a thank you to everyonewho participated or joined, or

(16:31):
that small handwritten thank younote in the order.
These small gestures can go along way for a small business
when it comes to building aloyal following and customer
base For all of my product droporganizer club members.
This month's Fast Finger Fridaywe are doing Valentine's Day

(16:53):
