Tusks Up Episode 6: NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Podcast with Hannah Colaizzo and Kelechi Eziri

Kris Dufour brings on Amherst Swim Captain Hannah Colaizzo'23 and Track Captain Kelechi Eziri'23 to dive into being leaders for CASCAC and the importance of their leadership roles in CASCAC for promoting DEI and helping Amherst keep promoting DEI in athletics and in the Amherst Community.  

This podcast is in conjunction with the annual NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign first launched in 2018, in partnership with the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee and the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, to use social media to create a dialogue around diversity and inclusion and communicate the benefit of inclusive environments in college sports.

Today is Day 1 of the campaign,  “Exploring My Identities”: exploring student-athletes’ intersectional identities, perspectives and experiences.

2022 Campaign Days and Themes

Day 1 (Tuesday, Oct. 18): “Exploring My Identities”: exploring student-athletes’ intersectional identities, perspectives and experiences.

Colaizzo and Eziri also discuss their journey to Amherst College, their transitions as First-Years to Amherst, how they can use academic and athletics to help their futures and what makes Amherst special to them. 

They also discuss their expectations for their seasons and discuss past seasons with Covid playing a role in their careers and how they both share major excitement for this upcoming season.
