(00:00):
Have you ever wanted to be a trust fund baby?
(00:05):
When Eric and I, my husband, we were in our early married years, we had a friend who was
a trust fund baby and you know, just seemed like everything was a little easier for them.
They could buy a great house and a great area and it just sounded like a really great thing.
Well, I'm excited because we are going to embark on a new series in which we're going
(00:26):
to explore some of the depths of the trust fund that we've been given access to and
you may not even realize it because if we did, and let me say when we do, it should
absolutely transform the way we live.
Hey, welcome to 1224 by Worship Transforms where we want to empower you to live your
(00:49):
best life through biblical inspiration, through connecting with Jesus in at least 12 minutes
of meditative worship.
All right.
Why 12 minutes?
Well research has shown that meditating on a good God that parts really important for
at least 12 minutes at a time and especially when connected with music has the ability
(01:11):
to create new healthy neural pathways in our brains.
That's new ways of healthy thinking that align with the one that we're focusing on.
So as I mentioned, we're starting this whole new series and on what it means that we've
been given an inheritance and what the heck that even is anyway.
(01:35):
Yeah.
So Romans 8 17 says this and this is from the amplified version.
And if we are his children, then we are his heirs also heirs of God and fellow heirs with
Christ sharing his spiritual blessing and inheritance.
If indeed we share in his suffering so that we may also share in his glory.
(02:02):
Well as children of God, we're entitled to an inheritance, not because of anything that
we've done, but because simply because we're his children.
My husband's parents passed away not too long ago and before they did, they had set up a
(02:22):
modest inheritance for each of their children, not because they did anything so wonderful,
although they were really great kids, but because they were offspring, whether biological,
there's two biological sisters and then my husband who was adopted and they wanted to
pass on some of what they had accumulated in their life, some of what they had just simply
(02:45):
to bless them and it was a blessing.
But an inheritance is naturally predicated on the giver passing away.
The giver must first die and after the one who's giving it passes that inheritance also
then passes on to the next generation.
(03:07):
Once that inheritance is given in stages depending on what it is and the age of the one receiving
the inheritance and the state of the property.
Well similarly, God has granted us, his children, by adoption, an inheritance and the only way
that we could have access to that inheritance was for death to take place.
(03:33):
Jesus, very God, became flesh.
He lived among us.
He died and then he was resurrected to new life.
That death unlocked possible inheritance made available for all humanity, but the only ones
who'd be able to access it are those who can successfully submit a claim.
(03:58):
You know like when you believe you have a claim to an inheritance, you've got to prove
that it's supposed to be yours.
And it's when we identify with his death by turning away from our sinful nature and letting
it be put to death by associating with him.
And instead turning toward new life and resurrection and in so doing, we're given the right to
(04:20):
be called the children of God.
Wow.
This is a living inheritance.
Part of it we have immediate access to.
Some of it's being stored up for us in heaven to be revealed at a future stage, both in
heaven and in the new earth.
(04:41):
An inheritance, think about this, an inheritance is something that once belonged to someone,
right?
And it gets passed on after they die.
In this case, we're being given something that actually belongs to God, things that
have also been granted to Jesus and we get them because we've been united with him.
(05:02):
I believe that there's so much more that often goes untapped that we actually have access
to right now as our inheritance.
But in order to receive what's been granted to us, well, we want to understand what it
is that's in our inheritance.
Look, maybe I was given an entire storehouse, an entire warehouse of cars.
(05:29):
But if I didn't ever look in the storehouse, it wouldn't do me a whole lot of good.
And let's say I knew that they were in there, but I never picked up the keys so I could
drive those cars or maybe I never even learned how to drive.
Well, those cars wouldn't do me any good.
I might as well just take the public bus everywhere because I have an entire garage full of powerful
(05:52):
vehicles that are at my disposal, but I have no idea how to use them.
And I might even complain about my inability to get around.
That's what so many of us do, right?
We've been granted this incredible inheritance, but we don't even know what it is.
Or maybe we have a little inclination, but we don't know how to drive.
(06:15):
And we say, well, that's ridiculous because if I was given a whole warehouse full of cars,
you better believe that I would learn how to drive.
Well, then we better find out what's in our inheritance so we can fully, fully enjoy it.
I know that if it were my husband who had received a whole warehouse full of cars, you
(06:36):
better believe he would know how to drive every single.
One of them every, like a different one every day of the week.
Yet, not exploring the riches of what God has bestowed on each of us is all too often
what we settle into metaphorically taking that public bus and learning strategies to
(06:58):
get around to accommodate the fact that we don't have any ride, let alone a sweet one.
So I'm excited.
We're not going to do that.
We're going to explore what's actually in our inheritance, what we've been granted
in the written will, in the written testament of our Father through His Son, our brother,
(07:22):
our friend, our Lord, our Redeemer, Jesus.
This is a living will.
It's not an ancient, lifeless text.
So if there's something within you that's been crying out for more, if you've been feeling
maybe beat down, maybe on the verge of giving up or giving in and you need to experience
(07:44):
His healing touch, if you know you've been created for more, if you feel a call on your
life, you don't know how to realize it.
If you have a burden, a yearning to see true justice in your life and in the lives of those
around you.
If you recognize the days are short and there's an urgency to make the most of what we've
(08:10):
been given.
Stay with us.
Join us for the next several sessions as we unpack what we've been given one by one and
then we let the truth of what those things are infiltrate and permeate our souls by meditating
on them, by resting in them.
(08:31):
And that way it gets into our psyche and it's the truth of what just hearing alone has trouble
doing.
We can be transformed more like how we're meant to be.
So yeah, I've always wanted to be a trust foam baby and now I am.
(08:52):
You and I both have everything that we need to live a wealthy and prosperous life.
Hey, if you think you know maybe one or two of those things that we've been granted as
inheritance, would you put it in the comments below?
I'd love to hear what you think those are.
Maybe there's a couple that you want to make sure we dive into.
(09:13):
Again, let me know in the comments because we are going to be diving into this.
Today, we're going to be meditating on Ephesians 111, Romans 8.17 and Psalm 16.5 and 6.
You might want to grab your Bible so you can follow along as we meditate on this, as we
(09:40):
reflect, as we sing, as we let the truth of this word go deep within us.
We thank you for this opportunity to dive into understanding a little bit better what
you have given us.
Holy Spirit, we just invite you to come, invade us with your presence right now, reveal
(10:04):
to us the truth so we don't miss what you have granted to each one of us.
Jesus, he loves me so much.
(10:39):
Lord, You alone are my inheritance.
Lord, You alone are my inheritance.
(11:02):
My cup of blessing You are.
My cup it overflows.
My cup of blessing You are.
I drink from the will.
(11:28):
And it never, no it never, no it never runs dry.
No it never, no it never, no it never runs dry.
(12:11):
For You watch over all I have.
Everything You have given me.
You watch over all I am.
(12:40):
I have all I need.
And it never, no it never, no it never runs out.
No it never, no it never, no it never runs out.
(13:21):
What a wonderful inheritance.
And it never, no it never runs out.
(14:11):
For You watch over all I have.
Everything You have given me.
And You watch over all I am.
(14:32):
I have all I need.
And it never, no it never, no it never runs out.
No it never, no it never, no it never runs out.
(15:14):
What a wonderful inheritance.
And there's always, always more.
(15:52):
Cause I am adopted. I am a child of the living God, my Father.
I am adopted. I am an heir.
(16:24):
I've been united with the living God, my Savior.
Jesus Christ.
For He chose me in advance.
(16:50):
And He makes everything work out according to His plan.
What a wonderful inheritance.
(17:27):
What a wonderful inheritance.
And there's always, always more.
(18:08):
You alone are my inheritance.
For the land You have given is lovely.
Every boundary, the place You have prepared for me.
(18:37):
Is beautiful.
And I'll never, no I'll never, no I'll never be without.
No I'll never, no I'll never, no I'll never be without You.
(19:20):
I'll never be without You.
What a wonderful inheritance.
(19:46):
What a wonderful inheritance.
And there's always, always more.
(20:09):
Always more, more with You. Cause You're never on dry.
You're never on out.
Cause I am adopted.
(20:31):
I am a child of the living God, my Father.
I am adopted.
I am an heir.
(20:56):
I am united with the living God, my Savior.
Jesus Christ.
For He chose me in advance. And He makes everything work out according to His plan.
(21:34):
What a wonderful inheritance.
What a wonderful plan You had that I could be Your child.
(21:57):
That I could be called Your heir.
Father, we're so in awe of Your plan.
That You made a way that we could be together with You forever.
That You made a way that we could be called a child of God.
(22:21):
That we could be united with Jesus, Your Son. It's astounding.
Help that to penetrate every fiber of our being.
So we live out of a place of being Your child.
So we live out of a place of being called the heirs of God.
(22:46):
Simply amazing.
May you go in the goodness of knowing how much God loves you today.
Cause I am adopted.
(23:09):
I am the child of the living God, my Father.
I am adopted.
I am an heir.
(23:34):
I am united with the living God, my Savior.
Jesus Christ.
What a wonderful inheritance.
(23:59):
What a wonderful inheritance.
What a wonderful inheritance.
And there's always more.
(24:40):
I love you, Jesus.
