We knew who she was like, a little bit about her history before Voyager and how she was a strong and capable starship commander. But in all that time, have we heard about her background before Voyager, in her own words? In this episode of Twin Cities Trekkies, which marks the fifth part of the podcast's celebration of Star Trek: Voyager's thirtieth anniversary, Wes reviews Una McCormack's 2020 novel The Autobiography of Kathryn Janeway, which was published during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was published to celebrate the silver anniversary of the television series. To bring the episode an extra flair, Wes interviews Una herself! She talks about the novel and her Star Trek literary journey.
