Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's two Dudes with Attitudes of wrestling podcasts with Ryan
enjoys wrestling, he's back out of retirement and mw oh,
and this is our ae W edition. But we're gonna
talk all things Dynamite because we already did all in Texas.
You have not already seen it, check it out whether
(00:21):
you're listening or watching. It will be posted to wherever
you are following podcasts. So Ryan, are you excited to
talk about this Dynamite? It was a pretty good episode. Man.
They actually was followed it like it not at the start,
but it closed out pretty damn strong. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
No, I thought it was a great episode of Dynamite.
It was very Aw's biggest weakness has always been follow
up from pay per views or follow up, especially from
their biggest show of the year. And I feel like
they're continuing to tell stories and they've got a lot
of momentum on their side. So I love this episode.
I thought it was great.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I agree. So you know what hit that music? Let's
go too, dudes with attitudes, Let's go.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Duels in edit tool's roomsless aggressively speaking, So let's do
this with brand and didn't they hit it? Get your
attention the five star brow cansh hit stalk to the end,
whether it's the EO solidly the two duels with the
additudes of Brinnan Hay get the point yet so on
time of Lackey, listen to the podcast when they get
(01:19):
it happened.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
And yeah, Man dynamite, I was. It started off with
the Hangman pro bo and I was digging it, and
then it kind of slowed down and I was like,
oh no, this is not the dynamite after your biggest
pay per view. But then they started cooking storyline. So
let's get into it. Ryan, you're speaking of it, let's
just start off with it. And gentlemen, first, you came
out of retirement. You haven't posted on tiktoking about six
(01:48):
to eight years. You did it. You posted two videos,
you got some great views. You are back, baby, So
I'll let you all wring up with this Hangman page promo.
What did you think? Did it fit the bill? Let
me know, Yeah, I actually.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Liked the promo. I thought it was a great way
to open the show. I wasn't a big fan of
him immediately wrestling on the show after his biggest win
of his career, one of the best stories aw was
ever told. I didn't really like the fact that he
had to team up with you know, Powerhouse Hobbs and
Mark Briscoe against the Death Writers in the main event.
(02:26):
I would have been fined with just the promo at
the beginning of the show, but I thought it was
It was a good promo. He delivered it well. I
like that nobody interrupted. I liked that we didn't get
MJF coming out to like this. This wasn't the time
for that. This was a time for celebration. The fans
really seemed to buy into everything. Hangman Page was saying.
(02:48):
I know a lot of people don't like the typical
raw Ross speech every time somebody mentions a e W,
and I know you have a problem with it too,
but I didn't mind it so much in this case,
because you know, we haven't seen that title in two
hundred and seventy three days. It's been locked away in
a briefcase, you know. And John Moxley, his whole thing was,
(03:11):
you people don't deserve to see the championship until somebody
steps up to beat to take it from me, until
somebody saves this company. Somebody aw got complacent before John
Moxley took over the championship, and he was kind of right.
AW was at its worst, and then John Moxley became champion,
and all of a sudden, they've been cooking in twenty
twenty five. But so I think, like when he was saying, like,
(03:34):
we deserve this, this is the best company in the world,
we need to show this title like that kind of thing,
I didn't mind it so much because, you know, it
was part of the story of not seeing the belt
for all this time, So it didn't bother me. Now,
if he comes out next week and he's like, Aw's
the best place for the best wrestle and it's the
best company to work for, and we have the best
management and the best leadership, and we're the safest place
(03:54):
to work I love this company. Like then I'll have
a problem with it. But this time I didn't mind
it so much. Thought it was a good way to
open the show, and the crowd really seemed to buy
in to hang them page, and I love that he
begrudgingly thanked Swerve Strickland. I like that part too.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
You know this this promo started, and the first thing
I thought I was like, oh Jesus, why are we
Oh my gosh. Then we watched it and then we
shot our WW edition video and if you launched WW,
you go check it out. It's already up. And you
told me that exact thing, and so I decided just
to ignore that speech. I took it as it was.
I gritted my teeth and just went everything after that.
(04:30):
So I'll continue to do that because you are all
aw nuthug it right now. You I do you. You
are supplex and Joys Wrestling. So what I'm gonna do
now is boom, Yeah, You're gonna put yeah SCW. Everybody
likes the little SEW. So it was pretty damn phenomenal.
(04:53):
I mean, when he opened up that briefcase, he was
struggling opening it when he won it, and he opens
it and he's like crying, and I thought he was
really couldn't open it, but he was just savoring the
moment and that felt special, and this promo continued with that.
It felt like him winning this means something. Him being
the top guy in AEW now means something. And it
(05:16):
made me feel something, and it made me know that Yo,
John Moxley is him. John Moxley's way above no offense
Hangman Page swerve Strengthlin way above will osprey anybody when
it comes to the levels of his greatness. But Hangman
is next and him and MJF. And he showed that
he proved it, and anyone who doubted him from his
last to to run or maybe things like oh this
(05:37):
cowboy guy blah blah blah isn't going to really be
able to be the face of a company. I think
that promo showed that you were wrong, and that he
will get those ratings. He will get those views. And
if MJF cash is in on him one day, whether
it's a year from now, which it probably should be
eight months, let Hangman cook a little bit, it's gonna
feel all that much more powerful and MJF will get
(05:59):
all that much more heat. This is a big deal,
and this was just a fantastic way to open up
the new era in a way of ae W. So, yeah,
I really enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
No, I loved it. And I think a lot of
the negativity that surrounded Hangman in his first title reign
involved see him Punk and all that stuff that happened there.
You know, he went into business for himself and he
made this comment, and you know, the all out situation
happened because of Hangman Page and everything, and I think
people soured on Hangman Page because of that. And now
(06:31):
I think he's he's shit. I think he's gotten rid
of that stigma, that negative stigma that was surrounding him,
and now he's the face of the brand and he
is he's killing it. And you know, they didn't they
got five hundred and eighty eight thousand views or in
the ratings, they had five hundred and eighty eight thousand
viewers in the ratings. NXT got five hundred and eighty six.
(06:54):
So maybe this is the start of something new. I mean,
they beat NXT this week, so not much to brag about.
It's only by two thousand. It's not like they blew
them out of the water or anything. But they're off
to a good start.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, man, only five eight eight. I saw so many
like aw, like hardcorees on TikTok he's gonna do a
million in and I was like, where are you guys?
I mean, five eighty eight is pretty embarrassing, but nonetheless
it beat NXT. I'll take any positive right now. And
I think we should be done with viewerships on AEW
because AEW is what it is. I don't plan c
A TN TNA every week because they're not getting a
(07:26):
bunch of viewerships. I think we need to be done
with it, Like I'm just we gotta stop comparing to AWWWE.
That's the thing. WWE is an'll to give its own.
We just got to move on. We gotta treat AEW
how it is and what it is, and we just
gotta the fakeness needs to get thrown out the window,
speaking of because we're gonna do a promo heavy episode,
because that's pretty much all that really shine. We got
(07:48):
Coke coming out man and Coke came out kind of
a good promo, talked about FTR, talked about other things
and how he wants FTR, and then Stokely Hathaway came
out and basically was like, yo, I got it signed
up and even look at him. You can't talk to them,
you can't smell them, you can't bring up their names.
Cope seemed a little upset, got a great reaction to
the crowd, boot the ship out of it. FTR is
(08:10):
them right now, and Cope said, well, you didn't say
you and he speared the bananas out of him, And
the best part about it all was that pretty much
solidified that we are getting a Christian reuniting once again,
because sooner or later, FTR is gonna put their hands
on Cope Stope, He's gonna We're gonna figure out ways.
He's gonna need that help. Christian's gonna find himself after
(08:34):
he deals with Nick Wayne and all of them. And
I know you have something to say because he posted
a video on it that got a ton of views.
But Christian's gonna deal with Nick Wayne, He's gonna overcome them.
And Nick Wayne, which you're not talking about, cut a
hell of a promo, big time promo. Not the patriarch either,
the Matrix, matri whatever. Hey, I'm not gonna lie. The
(08:57):
only thing I saw in that entire promo was Mama
Wayne's boobies, and that was on purpose. It don't hit
me up on the comments, but this is leading.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Your age.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, yeah, you can't even go up either. Now you're
being grouseed. I'm probably older than her, but likew so so,
but yeah, but we are obviously getting whether you think
and I'll let you say it now later or whatever,
we're definitely getting it. I love this whole segment. I
thought this was coax one of his better promos. He
(09:30):
felt more natural, more comfortable. He hasn't felt comfortable at
ae W. He felt comfortable. Now, let's hear what you
gotta say. I know you got something to say. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
In my TikTok video, I said that this was Adam
Copland's best promo in ae W and.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I stand by that.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
I think it was really really good. It served its purpose.
He talked about contract tampering, which like another I'm surprised
the internet hasn't eaten that up yet because you know,
they aw's contract hampering because they were talking about forming
rated FTR when he was in the other company, So
you know, yikes. Can't wait for the internet feed fallout
(10:09):
on that. But I don't want to see Christian Cage
until all Out. All Out takes place on September the
twentieth in Canada, in Toronto, Canada, and I don't want
to see him between now and then. I don't want
to see him against Nick Wayne. I don't want to
see him take on the patriarchy. I don't want him
(10:33):
to be to show his face until all Out, and
that way, I think the reaction will be better. Imagine
him be turning babyface and using the time between all
in to all out to really find himself. And then
he comes out it all out and maybe he kicks
Nick Wayne and the ding ding and he you know,
(10:54):
he hits the un prettier on FTR and he helps
Adam Copeland beat FTR and you know the reaction that
he would get the baby in Canada. That's when it
needs to happen. They don't need to have him come
out on a random episode of Collision and say, I
accept your challenge, Cope, Let's fight FTR, Let's fight the patriarchy.
(11:15):
Let's do it, and then you know, we'll do it
in Canada. Like that's probably the avenue they're gonna go,
so that way they can sell tickets. But I would
rather like Adam Copeland tries to fight the patriarchy by himself,
and Adam Copeland is in a three on one match
or a three on two some sort of match attack
(11:35):
for where I don't really know how they can do it,
but like the patriarchy and FTR teaming up against Adam
Copeland at all out and Christian Cage comes out and
makes it safe. Then and we don't see him between
now and then. That's what I want to see. I
think the reaction would be better. Him turning face in
Canada and helping Cope. I think would be better than them,
(11:56):
you know, doing it. Him helping him at Forbidden Door
and then announcing the match ahead of time. I want
to see the face turn in Canada.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Fantastic idea. I think that's the only way it should go.
I think if we're going to continue to build good
stories in ae W, that's how it has to go.
My only fear is if there's one thing Tony Kunnan
company like to do, it's double book, and I can
totally see them having Christian help out Edge or Coke
or Adam. They call him Adam Copeland. I think Cope
is dead. I have no idea whatever his name is,
(12:26):
and going up against FTR while he has to handle
Nick Wayne in company. I just see it. There's two
of them in the patriarchy. Maybe it's gonna be an
eye for an eye thing. I can see that happening.
But your idea is a lot better. Yes, for sure,
that's how it should go.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Get like I don't know who they could get, but
like get Coke, the team with Hook or somebody like that,
and then then then you have him against get another
person too, So it's like Nick Wayne in FTR against
Coke Hook and or just do three on two and
then cashing Cage comes out and makes the save and
(13:01):
helps do something like that. Yeah, at all Out make
it like a supposedly like a three on two tag
team match or something.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yeah, but either way, we don't need to see Christian
Cage between now.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
In all Out, Yeah, sat part Is will probably just
give Cope the ops who the remaining of them, Like
here's the two OP guys. Here's yeah, you know, Hooks
has done too, Joe's done, Like, here's the other two
Garcia he still wrestles. All right, let's let's talk about
something else, right. Tony Storm and Athena they had a
(13:34):
little back and forth. What do you think about it?
Let me let me know what did you think about
their little back and forth? I know you haven't seen
Athena much in R O H, So what did you think? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:43):
No, I dug it, and I thought this was a
good a good next story for Tony Storm after her
she heard beating Mercedes Monette and I gotta say that arena.
You know, you can say what you want about the
size of the arena. You can say what you want about,
you know, the size of the crowd.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
That arena was.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Perfect for Tony Storm's gimmick. She looked like the black
and white stuff with the red dress like it really
like it came through Chris on the four K TV.
It was nice. It was like it was really well
done and really well shot. So I like how they
that they did they did that. I liked her promo.
I liked that she was rhyming everything and it was
(14:24):
it was good there. But yeah, this was a great
introduction for Athena. It really was because I don't think
the aew I mean, the aw hardcorese know who she is,
but the casuals who don't watch Ring of Honor probably
this was probably their introduction to her. And I thought
she came across looking strong. I think it would have
been better And I think somebody said this on a
(14:45):
radio show this week, probably busted open if I had
to guess, but they said that it would have been
better if Athena was in the ring in counteracting with
Tony Tony Storm, as opposed to it being like a
pre recorded Titan dron video, And I do agree with that.
I think it would have gone over better if Athena
had come out into the crowd and stared down Tony
Storm that way. But yeah, I like the promo. I
(15:08):
didn't really like all the Luther stuff, like oh Luther,
you know, I'm so sorry that Luther got hurt, but
like it would have been better if they had been
the ones to attack Luther or something, just being like, oh,
we send our best to Luther. It was just that
was strange. But other than that, the promo was fine.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yeah. Number one, it's not about the size, just so
you know, especially you know sometimes sometimes, like you said,
it just fits in perfectly. Here's the thing, right that
I don't actually agree with your take on that one.
I think it better that Athena wasn't there. I don't
watch our o wage unless I literally have to, unless
(15:46):
I'm like aw's telling me to go. I missed the
one on Friday before all these big events happened this
past week, and people said it was amazing. I don't
got time for our Witch. I'm sorry. If I have
to have it, i'll watch it. I'm sorry. I'm not
a casual fan, but I'm also not. I don't watch
New Japan every week. I'm not watching CMLL. Yeah if
it's on a random Yeah, if they put Roh on TV,
(16:06):
I probably would watch it, to be honest with you.
But with that said, I haven't seen Athena cut of
promos since WWE, probably, and she was good everything she said.
I like the way she presented herself, the way she acted.
She looked good, she looked serious, she looked like somebody
who could beat Tony Storm, and Tony Storm did her
normal you know promos. I didn't like the Luther stuff either,
(16:29):
but I thought this really made Athena look like her.
If you hadn't seen Athena, and I'm assuming every single
AW fan has because most AW fans who are gonna
go to an arena, especially that small, have been watching
Roh on a weekly basis, so they have seen her.
Bro this got me excited for this match. At first,
I was like, all right, Roh versus you know, AW
(16:50):
big deal. But now I'm innute and I'm like, this
girl could beat Tony Storm. I think they need to
do title versus title. I'm just throwing it out there,
make it feel a little bit more important what she
cashes in briefcase, but you can also she ate next.
She could also be catching this in six months from now. Yeah,
and maybe and maybe she and maybe she is next,
you know what I mean, because you know, Mercedes ain't
(17:11):
just gonna disappear. So but nonetheless, they got me stoked.
It was a very good if you haven't seen her
before promo. And I liked it because I think if
they were face to face, she couldn't have cut it
that well, would have been a little bit different. I
liked the way it was. Yeah, No, I liked it too.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
And next week she's Tony Storm is gonna wrestle Billy Starks,
which is Atheni's little minion that she has.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Yeah, she was good too.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
She was good, Yeah, really good. So it sounds like
this is going to be a thing moving forward. So
you know, maybe it's just a tease of things to
come or what, but I'm digging it, man, I think
I think, you know, I was really worried about the
women's division after all, in with Mercedes losing because they
didn't really build anybody else up to defeat Mercedes. True,
(17:56):
and then they had Tony Storm do it. So now
it's like, Okay, well, who's gonna beat Tony Storm. I
think Athena has a good chance. I think she That
was a great introduction to Athena, But so if I
don't think that she needs to be next for her though,
I think she needs to wait a little bit and
let the audience get to know her a little bit
more in a e w. Let her make some statements,
(18:17):
let her get some statement victories over like sky Blue
and some other people, whoever's out there, Penelope Forward, let
her get some good wins Megan Bang, and then let
her climb up the ranks while she still has that contract,
but she can cash in whenever she's ready. So I
think it's I think I like the idea of them
doing it now, but I think it's still a little
(18:37):
too soon.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
Yeah, yeah, I agree, I agree. All right, let's talk
about something that we both know we loved. I'll let
you start off with it. WHOA, He's gold. Okata and
Swerve they had a face to face. Okada came out
to brag about the fact that is it like a
what was it Roman reigns thing? When Roman won the
unifis out of but Paul Haven still walked aroun with
(19:00):
the other two titles is like the same freaking thing, right,
Like do those belts still matter? Nonetheless, he's the unified
champ and swerve Strickland interrupted came out and basically they
didn't say it, but it looks like their next How
excited are you one to ten? And did you like
everything that was going down? This was the highlight to me?
Oh oh yeah, no, I liked it. I liked it.
(19:22):
I liked it.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I thought it was a it's a good next story
for Swerve Strickland. The thing I didn't like was like
the young Bucks doing their whole spiel like, oh, we
lost our EVP status. They'd come up, they come to
Dynamite in an uber or a lyft, they're in a
Ford focus and you know they have like they lost
(19:44):
their EVP title. In the locker room and Don Kallis
comes up and it's like, hey, guys, let's make a deal.
We can work together. I have a whole family of
people that would be great, and you know, they're all
like apprehensive about it. But then the guy that is
worked with Don Kallas Okada is upset that swerve Strickland
screwed his friends. The Young Bud, So I was just like, wait, yeah,
(20:06):
I thought I thought they did. Why is he still
with Don Kallas if but the Young Bucks are like,
don't want to be with Don Kallas, but he's still
friends with It was really weird, so I didn't care
for that. But but yeah, I'm all for Swerve and Okada.
I think this match is gonna be great. I love
that Swerve just came out, didn't say really anything, just said, yeah,
that was me. What are you going to do about it? Bitch?
(20:28):
And I threw you know, Ocatta's words back at him,
and yeah, yeah, I love this. This is a good
next step for Swerve, moving on from the Young Bucks,
moving on from will Ostre, moving on from Hangman Page
and hopefully getting a shot at the Unified Championship.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Yeah, it also looked like the Young Bucks they said
they don't want to join, but they want to be
with him, And it looked like I don't know which
brothers which, but one of them looked like he was
unsure and the other one looked like he was happy.
Are we getting the Young Bucks split up as well?
I already saw the internet explode that they really think
they aren't the vps anymore. They're like young Bucks the
w w E. And I'm like, yeah, abps, you morons.
(21:08):
It's the storyline, ye people, it's not real everything.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, it was Scott Moore on a podcast. It was like,
they've done everything. You know what they haven't done. They
haven't had a singles run. So maybe maybe this is
telling you Matt versus Nick singles run or or they
go their separate.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
Ways and Nick's about to go through the barbershop window.
But yeah, but other than that, Okada and Swear. You
talk about the upper extellon of the A w Right,
it's Mox Hangman and mj F on the top and
the next up is Okada and Swerve. Okada is him.
He's that guy. He deserved a beat Omega. He hasn't
(21:47):
lost in about a century. He's been the longest reigning
champion I think of all time, including Roman reigns. This
guy is him. That's a joke. And now why not
Russell Swarp Strickland Swat Strickland has nothing else to do.
These guys wrestling, whoever wins, it's a you know, a
Swerve wins. Hell. Yeah, he has a title. Again, he's
not in the top win. He's not going to go
after hey man, Okata wins. Hell y'all, Katta keeps being
(22:07):
that man. This is a win win situation. This is
I'm telling you print money. This is where it's at.
This is storytelling, This is booking. One oh one, good
job on Tony kanat aw. This is what they needed
to do. And I wasn't even thinking it for once something.
I wasn't thinking of good on that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I didn't see this coming at all. I didn't know
what was next for Swerve. I thought Ocata would have
some random matches and stuff. But yeah, I like this
thing that sucks is somebody has to lose, and it's
probably going to be Swerve, which is unfortunate. But I
do think the Continental Championship is still a thing. According
to Tony Kahn after the All In media scrum, because
(22:44):
the Continental Champion won the unified title, that felt going
to be defended under Continental Championship rules, which means there's
going to be no outsight interference in any Unified Championship matches.
So that means don Kallis can interfere. That means, uh,
you know, the who's is what's Swerve manager's name's not
(23:04):
Stokely Hathaway.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
It's uh oh, Prince Nana.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Prince Dana. Yeah, he can't. He can't interfere. It can't
be defense. It has to be no interference in the
in the match. So apparently it's still gonna be a thing.
But the Continental Classics still happening later this year for
the Continental, so I don't know if it's still a
thing or not.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
But it was International one too, Is that a thing
was old? Well, I'm telling you, like Paul Hayman after
Rum one, Roman had the World belt on, but Paul
kep hanging on the other two. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
So yeah, I don't know what they're doing with with
the titles themselves, but I sign me up for Octa
and Swerve. I think it's going to be great. And
you know, I think the the other thing too, is,
like I said before, it's time for a brand split.
I think this could be the main event on Collision.
This could be the main feud on Collision. With everything
(23:56):
else going on on Dynamite, I feel like this could
get in the shuffler not get enough time. So they
need to do some sort of brand split and make
that the main title on Collision and make this the
main feud on Collision, and I think it would bring
Collision back to length a little bit.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Yeah, we need that brand split bad. All right, let's
send it you ready. We had something that I predicted.
I said, what happened? We had a match though you
already elluded to it was for whatever reason, they had
Hangman and mox wrestle in a match the day after that,
two days after that, Texas. That make it make sense?
(24:34):
The only bad thing of dynamite, Why would you have
them rustle? They wrestled like an eight either way at
the end, mox loss. It looks like we're moving on
from the Death Riders and facing off and any of
those guys anymore. It looks like they have a new feud.
And that is when Darby Allen, who was up in
the suites, the rafters, whatever you want to call it,
just like sting was, I predicted that would happen. I said,
he's going to start appearing like that said it months
(24:57):
ago and months ago. What do you think you this?
Do you like to see some Darby Ellen versus John Moxley.
Darby Ellen needs to get pushed. John Moxley does not
need to win anymore. Darby Allen wrestling John Moxley and
beating him is best for business. Darby can't go up
against Hangman right now, but maybe he could be the
guy to him. MJF who knows? What say you? I mean?
(25:17):
I think Darby is hot right now. This dude not
only climbed Mount Efforts, which what one percent of the
humans can do, but he also cut a freaking promo
on John Moxley at the top of people can't make
it up there because they cannot literally breathe, you cannot function.
The dude cut a promo, a promo probably his best
(25:37):
promo too. He cut a promo a top of Mount Effort, yes,
then a freaking kick flip. This dude is him. He
needs to get everybody needs a respect in moving forward.
But what do you say? It's strike, whether the kettle's
hot or what? Oh?
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Yeah, you have to you have to, yeah, you know.
This story goes back well before the death writing storyline was.
This goes back to when John Moxley took Darby Allen's
title shot. So maybe yep, he feels that the title
shot should have been his and the aw championship should
be his right now, and that could lead into a
future feud with Hangman Page, because if you notice, he
(26:11):
also was staring once the Death Writers left the ring,
he kept staring right at Hangman Page too, like he
didn't stop he was he was yeah, so obviously alluding
to things to come in the future. So yes, we
need Darby Allen versus John Moxley. We needed a SAP.
I think it should be the feud for it should
be one of the main events for all Out. It
(26:33):
should be going into forbidden door. They need to do
something with these guys. He got to strike while the
Irons hoide. For sure.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
