Speaker 1 (00:01):
It is Two Dudes with Attitudes, a wrestling podcast with
Ryan Enjoys Wrestling and m WO. And this is a
very special edition of Two Dudes. And we lost an
icon and a legend today in the pro wrestling world
in one Hulk Hogan Terry Bellia was his real name.

(00:23):
And yes, we know that he did not have the
best image as of late, and the political things and
the other things that have come out about him, we
are going to ignore that today. We are just going
to honor the character and the person that was Hulk
Hogan and the impact that he had on the wrestling business.
Because whether you like him, whether you loved him, whether

(00:43):
you watched them growing up like I did and you
gotten a wrestling for it, or you grew up younger
age where he was already kind of a hated man,
you can't take away the fact that the we would
not be here today without that man, Hulk Hogan brother.
I mean, my name is MWO for crying out loud,
and he ran the nWo. So what we want to
do today is we want to talk about Hu Cogan,

(01:04):
maybe some of our best moments, favorite moments, ways we
were impacted by him. We're gonna keep it short. But
we think that a lot of pro wrestlers died. It's
sad what every single one of them do. But I
didn't think we could skip out giving a little bit
more of a tribute to literally the first icon of
this business that we're that we love so much, correct, right?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I mean no, no, yeah, absolutely, And I think you know,
we look at guys like The Rock right now and
we think of John Cena. You know, these guys are
have transcended wrestling, but Houlk Hogan was the pioneer to
all of that. Hok Hogan was the guy that you
know started this whole thing. He was the first international
superstar in professional wrestling. If you ask any common any

(01:49):
fan that may not watch WWE right now, may have
never watched wrestling, and you say, hey, name three wrestlers,
I can guarantee you one of them will be Hulk
Hogan'll say, like, does Holk Cogan still wrestle or didn't?
He was like that, they'll name that's how iconic he was.
As people who have no idea about WWE, or have
no idea about the stories and the matches, they know

(02:11):
who Ho Cogan is. He was the first real wrestler
to kind of go mainstream. He made wrestling fun, He
made wrestling cool. You know, he was on the talk shows.
He was, he was really just in the he was
in movies, he was on talk shows, he was. He
was the guy in the eighties and the nineties, and

(02:32):
he made wrestling what it is now. And he's a
huge reason why I became a wrestling fan. I know,
he's a huge reason as to why you became a
wrestling fan. I think he's a huge reason why a
lot of us became wrestling fans. And we would not
be w w would not be where it is right
now in twenty twenty five without Holk Hogan paving the way.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Oh well said one hundred percent, he was the first
movie star. Without him, we don't have John cenas the
Rocks batisass And I mean that like honestly. But I
don't think people realized too that pro wrestling was, you know,
kind of like a carny thing going on in the
seventies and into the eighties. And Vince McMahon, who is
probably gonna get the same treatment as Hogan is right now,

(03:12):
but another pioneer in this profession we love, who who
wanted to have this big events in WrestleMania, and there's
documentaries on this, and it was because of Whole Cogan.
Without Hull Cogan, WrestleMania one doesn't survive without Whole Cogan,
WrestleMania three doesn't exist. Without WrestleMania three, WW mighta went
out of business. So this is like things that have

(03:34):
Ho Cogan has done the Attitude Era, which a lot
of people think that's Ho Cogan joining becoming the third man,
to becoming a heel after decades of being a babyface.
That helped save pro wrestling once again and kept WWE
around in the WS even though you know they were
going against WCW. And he came back and had one
of the biggest WrestleManias with him in the Rock at

(03:55):
wrestle Mania seventeen, which our eighteen, which I was at.
I was there live watching that in Toronto. So in
one of still to this day remember I forget exactly
I was there live, but they stared at each other
for was it ten minutes something like where we just
cheered the end. They didn't look, they didn't touch, they
just stared at each other. That is the impact that
hul Cochin had on this business, and I stayed in

(04:19):
true a true pro wrestling fan because of Sean Michaels.
I got into it because of Whole Cocin. I've been
watching before WrestleMania one, brother, but I got into it
because a whole Cogan. Liked it because of Whole Cogan,
but stayed in it because of Shawn Michaels. But without
Hogan Man, I will never forget WrestleMania three. I'll never
forget WrestleMania six. I'll not even forget Wresseminia eight when
he battled Sergeants seven, when he battled Sergeants. No, it

(04:41):
was eight no seven. I'm so old, and I forget
which wressemanas which when he wrestl Sargents stowed it in
the whole Desert Storm thing him versus the rock hole
Cogan joining NWL. Even funny things were people like Shawn
Michaels who didn't respect hul Cogan and had that Summer
slab match where he oversold them like a banana, you know,
bouncing all over the place. Even those type of moments.
There there's so many things that Hokogan has brought into

(05:05):
this pro wrestling world and like you said, movies and
and shows and stuff like that, things that action figures
that people didn't like. Gotta remember people laughed at pro wrestlers.
This is not how we are today. And him to
become an actor, even though his movies weren't the best,
was a huge deal back then because you know, he
was in Rocky three for crying out loud thunder lips
like that's huge. Rocky three is a huge. It's a mainstream,

(05:27):
multi million dollar movie, you know what I mean, budget
and sold. So you know, those are the kind of
things that I think we need to respect. And even
him going to TNA it wasn't the best run, but
you know, you can't. You said three people. I honestly
think if us nine out of ten people to name
one wrestler, oh, I think it's gonna be Hulk Hogan,
and if it's not, it's The Rock, and I think
that's it. I don't think it's Stone Cold. I don't

(05:47):
think it's Brett Ard, Shawn Michaels, rig Flair Roman. I
think it's Hogan or The Rock and that's it. And
that means something, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, no, for sure, for sure. And you know some
of my favorite Hogan matches. You know, obviously Hogan versus
Andre at the Giant Wrestling Year three. Like, you know,
how I got into wrestling is a little bit different,
but you know, the first pay per view I ever
watched was Survivor Series nineteen ninety nine. But what got
me interested in wrestling was funny enough, the movie The

(06:16):
Princess Bride, which is one of my all time.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Favorite movies with Andrea with Andre the.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Giant in it, and you know, and then I was like, oh,
I didn't. I didn't.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
I didn't realize.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I was like, oh, that guy's really funny, and my
sister was like, yeah, he's a wrestler.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
I was like, wait what.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
And then I started watching Andrea the Giant matches and
one of the first matches I watched was Andre versus
Hogan WrestleMania three, and I was like, I was like,
holy shit, Like this isn't InCred Like that was incredible.
He slammed him, picked him up. That's never been done before,
even though it's been done a couple of times, but
it had never been done on it to that magnitude.
And you know, he saved He saved wrestling in the eighties.

(06:52):
He made wrestling great in the eighties. He saved wrestling
in the nineties with the nWo Turn, And you know,
he came back to the WWE when they needed him
with the Rock Moment at the in the the Skuydome
in Toronto at WrestleMania eighteen. And you know, you could

(07:12):
say that maybe he came back and saved wrestling then too,
when it was kind of people were kind of losing interest,
the attitude air was kind of fading out. This was
right before the ruthless aggression era started, so it wasn't
we weren't quite there yet, and Hope Hogan made it
fun for a couple of months in a couple of years.
And you know, my other favorite Hogan match, funny enough,

(07:32):
is Hogan versus Vince McMahon at WrestleMania nineteen. Yeah, that's
it's a good it's overbooked to death, it's crazy, it's
a street fight, it's WrestleMania, and it's Vince McMahon, so
of course crazy stuff is going to happen. But I
actually liked that match. I thought that match was fun.
But Rock and Hogan is my all time favorite wrestling
match probably ever. It's my comfort match. It's a match

(07:55):
that I watch, you know, whenever I just want to
have something on in the background, I'll throw that match
John and I just sit back and I learned something
new every time I watch it. And you know it's
I see the crowd reactions, I see Hogan's reactions. I'm like, oh,
I didn't realize he was he started hulking up right there.
It's just all kinds of fun stuff, and you know,
we really did lose a legend today, and it's really

(08:16):
really sad. You know, it's always crazy when you know
anybody passes away. It's really sad when anybody dies. But
this one shook me first because you know, this was
like a piece of my childhood that is.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Gone for reals. Well said yeah, and I mean, come on,
just the what you're gonna do, brother, when these twenty
four inch pythons and the ripping the shirt also Hogan
Goldberg too, when Goldberg defeated Hogan. Is a match that
I will forever remember and it's legendary and one quick
story then we can go. But I was very little
obviously when Hulk because I've been watched this before Wrestleminia one,

(08:48):
and there was a guy named Earthquake back in the
days when he was this big old dude and he
was just like crushing fools. And Hokogan was gonna go
shoot a movie. And I didn't know this at the time.
I was like seven eight years old. And Earthquake like
did his splash kind of like what Nijacks does now
and squashed hehrm, you know what I mean. And he
bounced off to the ropes squashed him a whole bunch

(09:08):
of times, and ho Cogan was done. He was injured.
We were never gonna he was never gonna come back, brother,
you know what I mean. He'll never be able to
survive it. And there was this thing that they put out.
It was like WW magazine and other things where you
can write hull Cogan a letter and wish him well.
So I literally wrote hull Cogan a letter hoping that
he returns. I was so sad, I was crying every day,

(09:29):
wrote him, and let I'll never forget. I got back
in the mail a postcard from hull Cogan. It was
like a picture of him, like you know, a ripping
his shirt or whatever. And it was obviously like a
you know, stamped on like think you brother, you know
what I mean, like Hull Cogan will be good and
I'll see you again, and I'll never I mean I
was probably like six' five, SEVEN i don't, know around that,

(09:50):
age And i'm FOR i never forgot that. Moment and
this is What i'm talking, About, like, yes we find
out nowadays who true people a in humans and who
we are, inside and there's certain reasons why people have
come out to become the way they, Are but you
can't take away my memories and the reason WHY i
got into the SPORT i. Love SO i think we

(10:11):
just need to remember us human, beings that none of
us are. Perfect we all have shit in the cause
it we, all you, know make mistakes and make poor,
decisions but that you can't take away from our the
good things that we have done in life as. Well
And hogan did a lot of good things for a
lot of people and gave them, inspiration and people did
take vitamins and people did say their prayers and so

(10:32):
on because of WHOLE covid and he did change his.
Industry and you can say who cares and it doesn't,
matter but it does because we wouldn't be literally watching
pro wrestling today Without Hull. Cogan so it is what
it is and that's all and rest in, peace. Brother. Yeah,
absolutely as a family remember.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
That yeah, Yeah AND i DON'T i don't. WANT i,
know it's easier said than. Done but the last ten
to fifteen years of his life shouldn't be what we
remember him. By it should be based on everything that
happened in the. RING i know you mentioned HIS tna.
RUN i actually low key enjoyed HIS tna. RUN i

(11:10):
thought HIS tna run was you, know maybe he came
on a little strong there but and tried to.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
He was also, injured but, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
But like he you, know he PUT tna up Against
Monday Night raw for a couple of weeks and got
obliterated in the ratings and quickly went back To Thursday
nights and just he tried. Things you, know he Turned
Jeff party heel IN, tna AND i think he think
he was there When aces And eights.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Began he was a part of.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
That, yeah that's. Right and then you know he formed
his own faction Called immortal and he was feuding With
abyss over This hall Of fame. Ring so it was
all kinds of fun stuff and HIS tna run so,
YEAH i Mean hukogan, man he he was a true.
Legend and yeah he'll he'll be forever. Missed and, yeah
a part of my childhood is. Gone and it's really really.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Sad it, is well. Said all, right well that's. It
thank you for tuning in and hit us up in the.
