We unintentionally created a little theme with our movies this week, but it ended up making sense in our heads. We started out taking a step back in time and watching Apollo 13 for the first time. While we felt the movie tugged on our heartstrings, we both felt it was difficult to separate Tom Hanks’ very identifiable voice from some of the other iconic characters he’s played, specifically Woody. Interstellar rightfully received tons of praise and accolades, but if we had to compare these two space movies, we’d have to say that Apollo 13 felt more real to us. Both of these movies were huge hits in the box office, had all-star casts, and were directed by some seasoned directors. To round this one out, we watched Dallas Buyers Club which is another film that received lots of awards and attention. Having not watched this movie since it came out in 2013, we felt this one really still held up. The only thing that probably would have changed if it were made today would be the casting of Jared Leto (in our opinion!) Listen to the full ep to hear how we ranked these movies!
We also discussed some news like Ailish’s quick trip to NYC, Hannah newly acquiring Max, and the controversial Beatles cast announcement. As we mentioned before, we hope to make some official changes soon. Hopefully, you’ll see these surprises before summer arrives!
