This episode of the podcast starts with some breaking Sabrina Carpenter news. We’re on the heels of her newest single, Manchild, and she just announced that her next album, Man’s Best Friend will be released at the end of August. Her cover art for the album is getting a lot of press, so we give our thoughts on that, her Rolling Stone cover, and what we hope from her as an artist going forward. We also talk about Miley Cyrus’s appearance on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, Reclaiming, and Hannah gives bonus takes on The Money Pit and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Our movie theme this week was “unexpected rom com leads” and it was fun to see a side of these actors that we don’t often see on screen. We started with Friends with Money which is really a stereotypical, female-led movie from the early 2000s. Our unexpected lead is Frances McDormand, and it also features Jennifer Aniston fresh off Friends. This movie had depth, but we weren’t fully able to connect with it, even though we loved Frances's role. Next up: James Gandolfini in Enough Said. This movie was released a few short months after his untimely death and it shows a completely different side to him since he’s most widely known as Tony Soprano. He and Julia Louis-Dreyfus have such great chemistry here and both of us loved this movie more than we expected to. Life or Something Like It has Angelina Jolie and Edward Burns as its lead characters. While we love looking at Angie in this role, the movie was doing too much and she’s just not believable in this type of movie. To round things out, we watched Nicolas Cage in Moonstruck. This movie took us for a ride, to say the least, and Cage was every bit of the Nick Cage we know today.
