Two Towns Over looks at the dark side of history, using dark humor and natural curiosity. We also discuss fun stuff, as well. But usually, it's just dark. Discord: https://discord.gg/Ndn8EdgeKQ Patreon.com/twotownsover tiktok.com/@twotownsoverpodcast Facebook.com/ttopod Instagram: @twotownsover
This week, we look at the dream of one man; Stockton Rush. A man so blinded by hubris that he believed that he could voyage to the wreck of the Titanic using a prototype submarine made out of carbon fiber, and his determination to do it despite everyone telling him it was a death trap.
It's a week later, and Rubin is still not over last week's episode. This week, we look at the results of the Rodney King Verdict. For six day in 1992, L.A. was in flames. Racial tensions overflowed into the street, and no one was safe.
Not going to lie, this week is heavy. Which is understandable given the makeup of our show. This week, we discuss the brutal attack on Rodney King by the LAPD. An attack that may have only been known about due to a civilian who happened to have his video camera available. We talk about the attack and the subsequent trial that followed and whose verdict would lead to the violent riots in Los Angeles in 1992.

What would happen if the entire population of the planet pointed a laser pointer at the moon at the same time? What if an earthquake measuring 15 on the Richter Scale occurred? This week, we dive into a new book of non-BS, "What If?" by Randall Munroe. Josh takes us on a scientific journey that looks at the scientific theories behind insane hypothetical questions
This week, we look at the parapsychology experiment that tried to create a person out of thin air: The Phillip Experiment. In the 1970s, a group of people created a fictional character as detailed as they could. Then, using your typical ghost hunting tactics (seances, Ouija boards, etc.,) tried to bring him to life. We then look at the legend of the Tulpa, or thought being. A creature brought to life simply by belief.
This week, in what is hopefully the last of the mandatory supercut releases, we go back the dark days of the Satanic Panic. In this episode we look at the beginning of the Panic in America: The Salem Witch Trials.
We return to the seedy streets of Chicago to go deeper into depravity with America's First Serial Killer. This week, we look at his capture and the conspiracy theory that Holmes may have actually been another famous serial killer in operation at that time: Jack the Ripper.

Last week, we discussed the Chicago World's Fair of 1893. This week, we look at the darker side of that year as we begin the story of H.H. Holmes. Deemed America's first serial killer, Holmes built an elaborate "Murder Castle" in which many visitors to the fair are presumed to have met their demise. This week, we look at the early life of Holmes and the construction of the Castle. We also discuss Holmes' MANY ...
This week, we begin our dive into the twisted world of H.H. Holmes by examining the background setting of his crimes, the 1893 World's Fair. Also known as the Columbian Exposition, the fair ran from May of 1893 to October and featured one of the most expansive examples of products and inventions we know today. From the Ferris Wheel to Cracker Jacks to the moving sidewalk, the expo was a living testament to the will of man.
*Audio Note* The First thirty minutes of this episode was recorded with the wrong mics, The issue clears up around the thirty minute mark
The boys take a much needed mental health break this week and discuss the world of the ongoing Manga and anime: One Piece. Rubin and Josh finally beat Don down enough that he gave it a chance and now they are all on the cruise together. So enjoy this tangent into the All Blue and we'll ge...
Today, we look at the fascinating story of Sarah Winchester and her famous mansion, supposedly built to confuse the spirits of those killed by her husband's invention, the Winchester repeating rifle. But is it really haunted? Does its labyrinthine design keep the spirits at bay? Or is it just the work of a woman who was enamored by architectural design?
Sometimes they brood, sometimes they sparkle, sometimes they're feral monsters. But one thing's for sure: vampires hold a special place in people's imaginations. This week, we give you a supercut of our two-part series on Vampires. First, we look at the myths and legends that surround the monsters. Then, we are joined by our good friend Mark to discuss the inspiration for Count Dracula: Vlad the Impaler
*TRIGGER WARNING* SUICIDE
This week, we look at the story of R Budd Dwyer, the treasurer for the State of Pennsylvania in the 1980s. After being accused and convicted of taking bribes, Dwyer did the unthinkable. One day before his sentencing, Dwyer would take his own life on live television.

This week, we take a break from the horrors of reality to delve into the unspeakable horrors of H.P. Lovecraft and the terrors of his imagination. Lovecraft, the creator of what became known as "Cosmic Horror" was a complicated man, and his creations mimic his fear of the unknown and alien. We'll separate the art from the artist. And it's us, so of ehulhu
We've all heard the story. A woman spills hot coffee on herself and sues McDonald's because the coffee was hot. But is that really what happened? Is there more to the story than a frivolous lawsuit from a woman who did not know that coffee was hot? Well, we're doing an episode on it, so what do you think?
So, what happened to the settlers on Roanoke Island? This week we look at the most likely options, from assimilation to cannibalism, no topic is left off the table. We also discuss some other occurrences of the word Croatoan throughout history that leads to brand new SCP Pete/Sassafras Charlie lore.
It's democracy in action – the people have spoken! Our first Facebook poll winner is Roanoke. In the late 1500s, an entire village of people disappeared from the island of Roanoke, becoming America's first urban legend and conspiracy theory. What happened to the settlers? Did they die of starvation? Did they resort to cannibalism? Were they massacred by the Native Americans they likely angered?

What makes a man bark like a dog? Why was that American Werewolf in London? Do all Werewolves have abs like the ones in the Twilight movies? These are questions you will not find the answers to on this podcast. What you will hear is the history of lycanthropy. But be sure to sit through class because the extra credit is one of Rubin and Josh's favorite stories on the show: The Beast of Gevaudan. A true story about a ein the 1700s
Japan, a land of deep culture and history, is also known for its unique and sometimes bizarre game shows. In this episode, Don and Josh, along with Cyndi, share the captivating story of a man who was unwittingly thrust into a show where he had to survive solely on what he won from magazine sweepstakes.
Have you ever thought that you were a walking corpse? Or maybe your left hand seems to be getting bigger or smaller. Have you ever felt like one of your hands was acting separate from the reset of your body? Then chances are good that you might have one of the conditions Josh and Don discuss today. As a bonus, you will also hear Don's interaction with a very strong edible.
