Eckart Tolle once said we are reflections of who we love as though our friends and chosen partners are mirrors. I couldn't agree more. We have a ceiling of how much we can love someone, and when we push past that ceiling, we lose parts of ourselves.
In order to truly love, we must love ourselves first. Like when the oxygen mask falls in an emergency, they tell you to put it on your child first BEFORE yourself. If you can't breathe, how can you save your child. If you can't love yourself unconditionally flaws and all, how can you ever love someone else.
