Today’s podcast is “Ultra Running is Mental”. We hear people saying that “ultra runners are crazy” but in reality, one does need to be a bit “mental” to run an ultra marathon. Today Ultra Mama Nancy and Coach Sarah discuss how to train beyond the physical. It’s a given that ultra marathon running requires a good amount of “time on your feet” training but physical strength is only one component of ultra running. The longer you are on your feet in a 50-mile, 100-mile or longer ultra marathon, continuing to move forward can become more mental than physical. It’s amazing how the mentally strong runner can push through the “wall” long after the legs seem to have given up. Today we highlight special tools to train your brain to pull you out of the “pain cave” of ultra marathon running.
