Oto grew up in Brazil with his family and came to the US when he was eight years old. When Oto turned 16 years old he started working for his family’s tax accounting business. After a decade of preparing tax returns, bookkeeping, and registering new corporations, he felt his life was headed in a different direction. When the 2008 real estate crash happened, and after losing over $120,000, Oto knew there was something more than what he was doing. Fast forward, Oto got married & divorced, sold his house for a profit of $40,000, and gave half of that to his ex-wife. He put the other $20,000 all into crypto. He says this was probably the best decision he could’ve ever made in his life because over the next 3 years, it grew to a total sum of around $17 million.

The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole.
