Clarity doesn’t always show up neat — sometimes it arrives through the mess. In this episode of Unchartered & Unfiltered: A Journey Back to You, Cynthia shares the raw and magical breakthrough that came from a simple but powerful question:

“Where are you in misalignment?”

Together, we explore:
✨ How to spot the difference between alignment and misalignment in your life and leadership.
✨ A simple exercise (the “misalignment/action list”) that can shift you back into integrity.
✨ The difference between fear and intuition — and why self-trust feels so dangerous in systems built on compliance and overgiving.
✨ Why radical self-trust isn’t just personal growth, but a rebellious act of leadership.
✨ How to create the conditions for your own breakthrough, instead of waiting for one to arrive.

With stories from Cynthia’s own journey, insights from Debra Landwehr Engle’s Be the Light That You Are, and the embodiment practices she draws from Be the Light toolkits (Power of No Workbook, Balance & Self-Care Toolkit, Career Values Toolkit and Renew You), this conversation is both teaching and coaching in one.

And with an open heart, she invites you community, and within both the FREE or PAID spaces, you’ll walk away with language, practices, and inspiration to stop fixing yourself (you're not broken, you're just disconnected) and start remembering who you are — because your light was never meant to fit into someone else’s dimmer switch.

Listen now and discover why self-trust might just be the most radical act of leadership you’ll ever choose.

With love & light,

Cynthia

P.S. Want a soundtrack for your own alignment? I’ve put together a Be the Light playlist featuring the Toni Jones tracks and other songs I lean on when I need to tune in and turn up. You’ll find the link in the show notes — consider it your personal soundtrack for self-trust.

Cynthia (00:06):
Welcome to Unchartered and Unfiltered the journey back
to you.
I am Cynthia Jameson, your host, and this is where we break
free from the noise and divedeep into what truly matters you
.
If you're tired of the shoulds, the expectations and the
pressures to fit into a moldthat doesn't serve you, you're
in the right place.
This isn't a podcast about easyanswers or sugar-coated advice.

(00:32):
This is your invitation toreclaim your path, embrace the
unknown and become the bold, unapologetic version of yourself
that's been waiting to show up.
It's time to get unfiltered.
Let's get started.
Hello, hello, friends, andwelcome back to Unchartered and
Unfiltered a journey back to you.
I'm your host, cynthia Jamieson, and today I want to invite you

(00:54):
into a conversation that isequal parts messy and magical,
because I don't know if you'venoticed, but clarity doesn't
always show up.
Neat For me, it often dropsthrough the swirl of noticing my
thoughts, of journaling myreactions, of paying attention

(01:15):
to the questions that I'm askingmy own brain, and I want to
share some of that process withyou, because inside the mess of
all of it, I found abreakthrough for myself.
Now let me do a little bit oflike setting the scene for you.
So last Wednesday at 6am, Iattended a masterclass and, yes,

(01:36):
I know, I know that some of youare thinking 6am, that is nuts,
cynthia.
And here's my truth when I findmentors or teachers who stretch
my thinking, I show up, nomatter the time.
I have attended classes fromthis teacher at 3am, at 4am, at

(01:59):
5am, at 6am, at 3pm, all kindsof days of the week, and this
particular morning lastWednesday, this teacher asked
one question that changedeverything, and it was such a

(02:19):
simple question when are you inmisalignment?
So it was an exercise take apiece of paper, draw a line down
the middle, on the left handside, write down where you are
out of alignment.
What she didn't say, but I willadd for you is on the right
side, turn each one of thoseareas that you are in

(02:41):
misalignment into an action stepfor yourself.
So that became my action listand it's one of the reasons that
I'm talking to you today, because it was raw, it was
confronting and it was alsofreeing at once, because I could
see the places that I wasdoubting, the places where I was
holding back, the places I waslimiting myself, and then I knew

(03:07):
exactly what to do, even thoughmy brain, my beautiful brain,
loves to tell me all of the timethat I don't know what to do.
One of the ways that I helpmyself get out of that is I say
okay, then, thank you, brain.
I know you're telling me thatyou don't know what you want to
do, or that I could do it, orhow I could do it, but also,
what is it?
I do know how can I go aboutthis.

(03:29):
What would be one small step?
And so I just want to pausehere for a moment, because if
you were to grab a piece ofpaper and I invite you to,
unless you're driving what wouldgo in your misalignment column?
Maybe, if it's your job, whereyou say yes when your gut is

(03:49):
screaming at you no, or yourbody is telling you no, it could
be your body.
Maybe you're ignoring someexhaustion that coffee can't fix
.
Listen, hand on heart, beenthere, done that, I get it.
Maybe it's your calendar, right, stacked so high that you look
at your calendar and you thinkwho made all these commitments?

(04:11):
And then, oh yeah, it was me,it was me, I did that.
Whatever the case, when youcreate this list, notice what
bubbles up, because that's thewisdom.
That's where alignment iswaiting for you Now.

(04:31):
I think it might be importantfor those of you who don't know
maybe this is new to you, buthere's how I define alignment
for myself is the integritybetween your inner world and
your outer actions.
So for me, it is when my values, my energy and my choices are
in harmony with how I live, howI lead, how I create, how I put

(04:53):
my work out in the world.
And it's also when my sacralresponse, aka my gut instinct
now, by human design I've sharedthis before I'm a manifesting
generator and what that means isthat when my gut instinct
matches my inner compass oftruth, of freedom, of ethics, of

(05:16):
contribution and authenticity,my outer expression reflects
that.
So when I'm a, when I amaligned, I feel calm, a calm
confidence.
I don't strive.
I feel freedom instead ofobligation, my energy flows

(05:36):
instead of leaks.
I feel whole.
I don't feel like I'm splitbetween the private me and the
public me.
I feel like I am the samecongruent, aligned human being.
And for me, when I am out ofalignment, I overgive, I bend
myself into compliance, I sayyes when I mean no, and I trade

(06:01):
authenticity for approval.
And I always know it by how Ifeel.
I always know it by how I feel.
So as I sat with this, I cameback to a line in a book that I
have been reading that is calledBe the Light that you Are, that
you are, and it's by Deborah,if I can say her name correctly

(06:25):
Landwehr L-A-N-D-W-E-H-R Engel,deborah Landwehr Engel.
She writes I think it's inchapter one or chapter two
resistance the argument forevidence of brokenness can't
alter the truth, and here's whatI love about that so much,

(06:48):
because the truth of the matteris we are each a holographic
image of the divine, a mirror ofsource, and alignment is simply
when our inner truth and outerexpression line up.
When we show up as a mirror, not a mask, we're showing up in
the truth and the fullness ofwho we are.
We're not hiding, we're notshrinking, we're not fitting in.

(07:12):
We are showing up in ourfullest expression, our fullest
frequency, and what I want tooffer is let's have a little bit
of a conversation about likefear versus intuition here,
because let's try this together.
I want to invite you to think ofa recent decision that you have

(07:37):
made, where and again we'regoing to invite blame and shame
and all of those differentpieces of you to sit in the
peanut gallery for a moment andthink about this recent decision
where fear was running the show.
Now fear might have soundedlike what if I fail?
What if they don't like me,what if I'm not ready?

(07:58):
And I want you to contrast thatwith your intuition, because
your intuition usually whisperssomething quieter to you Like
this way, you know what to do,it's all going to work out,

(08:21):
you're going to be okay.
And so you might ask yourselfwhere, right now, can I
experiment with listening to thewhisper instead of the shout,
listening to what is within youinstead of the noise of what is
outside of you.
So, for me, one of the clearestmisalignments shows up in my own

(08:43):
leadership Times when I didn'tchallenge a client because I was
afraid to rock their boat.
Times when I spiraled intodoubt, convincing myself that I
didn't know enough.
But here's what I noticed Ialways know when I'm out of
integrity.
It's not subtle, it feels soheavy and it feels like anxiety

(09:09):
and it feels draining.
And integrity really mattersbecause, at the end of the day,
meaning and integrity reallymatters because, at the end of
the day, I go to bed with me andwhat I think of me matters more
than anyone else's approval.
And I just want to take amoment and acknowledge how much,

(09:29):
how much work that I have doneto get to that place where I can
actually say that what I thinkabout me means so much more than
what someone else thinks aboutme.
And this may feel like a bit ofa caveat, but I think it's
super important because I'm justbeing reminded of.

(09:51):
I listened to Tony Jones, andone of the ways that I come back
into alignment is through music, and especially through Tony
Jones, and her music reminds me,in rhythm, what I already know,
what my intuition knows, whatmy soul knows, what my heart
knows, and that is alignment, isa frequency.

(10:12):
So it's a frequency that I feelthat self-trust is dangerous in
systems built on silence andthat celebrating myself is
sovereignty.
And that's one of the thingsthat I love about the work that
I do with my clients is most allof them I think almost like
99.9% of them when I startworking with them haven't

(10:36):
stopped long enough to celebratesomething, and celebration
feels so good in my body.
I celebrate in my life.
I'm always thinking about myhusband and I are always talking
about and thinking about likewhat is it that we're
celebrating?
What is it that we'reappreciating, what is it that
we're being grateful for in themoment?

(10:57):
And while those are differentthings, it comes back to me as
the act of celebrating all ofthose things that we have
created in the life that we'reliving and leading, and Tony's
music also reminds me thatgrowth can be soulful and sassy
right.

(11:17):
Like you know, there's a mix ofdifferent things that are
available to us and heraffirmations a lot of her songs
are affirmations in song, butthey're not just words, they're
vibrations, and they shift meback into my body, which is
where my intuition lives.

(11:38):
And because being the lightdoesn't mean dimming down, it
means tuning in and turning up.
I have really been leaning intoher songs and I will actually
last week.
If you're on my email list, youwould have received this last

(11:59):
week, which is a playlist of thesongs that I have been leaning
on as I created the Be the Lightcommunity and I hadn't shared
it as part of the podcast lastweek, but I will share it this
week.
I will also share a link to thebook because I think you can
get a sense if you haven't heardher before.

(12:19):
You can get a sense of what herwork can help you do, and one
of the songs.
I was just listening to ityesterday and she says in the
song, you know, there's a wholelot of who do you think, or who
do I think I am, and she goes onto sing about how no one gives

(12:40):
more thought to who do I think Iam than I do, because that is
the work that we do, and sothat's an example of one of the
songs that I have listened to asI've created be the light, and
so you're welcome, I thinkyou'll.
I think you will really, reallylove it.
And to bring you, bring us backhere.

(13:02):
This brings me back to theprovocative thought, which is
why is self trust so dangerous?
And I think I mean I'm alreadyhearing one of my teachers in my
ear and I just want to take amoment and thank all of the
teachers that have helped me toget to where I am, because

(13:24):
without them I wouldn't be here, and I'm just so grateful for
that.
And also one of the thingsabout self-trust, about your
intuition that this is one ofthe things my teacher shares If
your body is dysregulated, ifyou are in fight, flight, freeze

(13:44):
or appease, it may not be yourintuition that you're hearing,
because you are not in the statewhere you can hear your
intuitive whispers, nudges, thoughts, and so that ties in so
beautifully with the work thatI do with my clients and the

(14:05):
work that we're doing in Be theLight which is really around,
not only noticing the parts ofyou that sabotage you, that keep
you or take you out ofalignment, but also to really
work that sage muscle to be ableto bring you into that
regulated state so that you canhear your own intuition and the

(14:27):
reason why self-trust is sodangerous.
That's the first reason, because if you lean into
self-trust in a dysregulatedsystem, because if you lean into
self-trust in a dysregulatedsystem, you will make choices
that aren't in your best favor, from a place of fear versus a
place of love, and this issomething that isn't my concept.

(14:50):
That's my teacher's concept.
Her name is Dr Rikki Jane Adams.
She is the founder of theInstitute for Intuitive
Intelligence.
She's amazing and if you're onInstagram, she shares many, many
provocative thoughts, which Ireally enjoy to provoke my brain
into thinking into a differentway.
And so this is the learning thatI came to the nugget of this

(15:11):
teaching of hers last weekbecause self-trust, when I think
about what is the thing that Ihave been learning my entire
life.
It has been to trust myself, because I have been taught to
trust things, people, systemsoutside of me, versus me, no one

(15:31):
trusts.
Nobody taught me how to trustmyself, and I think that's I
mean.
I have so many thoughts aboutthat, and where I want to land
here is to say that the systemsthat we are in that rely on our

(15:52):
overgiving, on our compliance,on our silence.
Self-trust threatens that, and,at the same time, self-trust is
the antidote to burnout.
How do I know?
I know this because I'veexperienced my own burnout and
because my work, my lesson, mylife, my soul came here to like.

(16:16):
Learn is how to trust myself.
Only by trusting myself was Iable to walk myself out of the
burnout into a more like abeautiful life that I love so
much, and I think that's sobeautiful.

(16:36):
So, anytime, here's what I'velearned about this Every time,
each and every time, youoverride your knowing, you hand
your power away.
Time, each and every time youoverride your knowing, you hand
your power away, and when youanchor into your knowing, you
reclaim your power.
And so I really been thinkingabout this and I'm realizing

(16:57):
like this, like I said, this ismessy, messy and magical.
Self trust is a rebellion, itis a strategy and it is radical
leadership.
When you trust yourself, youwill say no to things that do
not serve you or do not servethe greater good.
When you trust yourself, youdon't keep going with the laptop

(17:18):
forever.
You will go out and you willget the rest.
Your body will remind you whatit is you need to give it to
yourself, and so I invite younow to think about, like ask
yourself, where in your lifewould trusting yourself feel

(17:39):
rebellious in like the bestpossible way?
Maybe it's saying no to aproject that you would normally
take on just to prove yourself.
Maybe it's speaking up in ameeting when you would usually
stay silent.
Maybe it's letting yourselfrest without guilt, and I can

(18:02):
already hear some of youthinking but, cynthia, if I do
that, people will think that I'mselfish, people will think that
I'm lazy, or people will thinkthat I'm too much.
And here's my response Let themand maybe that's exactly the
conditioning that you came hereto break for yourself.
And so here's the shift for methis week.

(18:25):
Breakthroughs aren't accidents.
They happen when you create theconditions for them, and my
conditions look like devotionpractices, and what I mean by
that specifically is my runningschedule, my breath, work, my
meditation, my regulation, myspending a half an hour in

(18:47):
silence, solitude.
Each day, my conditions looklike meeting fear and naming it
instead of numbing it, and Imeet my fear every day.
My teacher talks about this inthe in in this way.
You have to be willing to sweatfor God.
That's what it is.
You just have to be willing tosweat for God.
That's what it is.
You just have to be willing tosweat for God and do the work.

(19:08):
Get over yourself and just dothe work.
Conditions for me look likegetting coached instead of
pushing harder alone.
Conditions look like choosingconsciously between what drains
me and what lights me up, andthe real shift is that I have
stopped trying to fix myself asif something was broken.

(19:32):
There was nothing broken.
The thing that was happening isI was disconnected from myself
and I've started remembering whoI am underneath all of that
noise, and that's when theclarity came in.
So here's what I want to sayabout that Inside of Be the

(19:55):
Light.
This is exactly what ourlanterns, our toolkits, our
self-directed resources are four, and I'm not going to talk
about them all, but the balanceand self-care toolkit like that
will help you see where yourenergy is leaking so that you
can redistribute it toward whattruly matters.

(20:15):
And it's a practical lens onalignment.
It guides you back to practicesthat regulate your body, your
mind, so that you can respondfrom clarity instead of
depletion.
The Renew you program is like areset button, helping you pause
, reflect and reset patternsthat keep pulling you out of

(20:38):
alignment.
And it's not about becomingsomeone new.
It is about rememberingyourself, your power, your light
, your sovereignty.
And these aren't randomworksheets.
I've mentioned them before aslanterns.
That's what they are, and Ilove this analogy so much
because they really allow you toshine a light on where your

(21:01):
breakthrough is already waitingfor you.
And so with that, here's theinvitation Grab a piece of paper
, make your misalignment listand turn it into an action list.
Let yourself see in black andwhite where your inner world and
your outer world are out ofsync.

(21:22):
And then don't do it alone.
Come into the Be the Lightinside of the free and paid
spaces, doesn't matter whichspace.
You will find connection, youwill find tools, you will find
reflection practices that willhelp you build radical
self-trust.
I can promise you it willchange your life, Even if you

(21:46):
only choose the free community.
If you allow it, it will changeyour life, because your light
was never meant to fit intosomeone else's dimmer switch.
It was always meant to shine.
And with that, I want to saythank you for being here, for
walking this messy and magicaljourney with me, and until next

(22:07):
time, friends, keep leading fromwithin, take care and make it a
magical week.
I hope that you're walking awayfeeling more aligned with your
true self, more confident in thechoices ahead and ready to
leave the safe path behind, knowing you've got everything
you need within.
Remember, the journey to youisn't about finding one perfect

(22:31):
direction.
