Speaker 1 (00:06):
hey everyone.
Welcome back to the uncommonfreedom show.
Beck and kev in the saddleagain.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Becca welcome thank you, kevin.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
It's nice to be here in my own home you missed out on
the awesome podcast withcaptain spence and erica.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
That was fun I was downstairs packing and keeping
everyone from making too muchnoise, but I did listen to it
and I thought it was outstanding.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
It was pretty cool.
The background was so epic thatit almost looked like it was a
recording like a green screenrecording in the background.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
It was pretty awesome .
I'm so grateful for thatbeautiful trip.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yeah, well, we are here.
We are recording episode number98.
So we are two away from 100.
Are two away from 100 and we'reactually excited because we are
going to unveil a really coolevent that you and I are super
excited to host in about fiveweeks, and we're also going to

(00:55):
just talk about kind of wherewe're at with this podcast and
kind of take it from there.
So okay.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
So we are very excited to host an in-person
lifestyle design workshop calledThrive in 25.
And it's really to help youcreate a life of meaningful
impact in 2025 through strategicgoal setting in all key areas
of life.
It's going to take placeDecember 7th, which is a
Saturday, from 9 to 12.

(01:20):
And then for the VIP purchasers, there's 9 to 12 am.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Am.
Yeah, well, 9 am, 9 am yes.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
We should always clarify that we don't mean 9 pm
to midnight, we mean 9 am.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And that's Arizona time.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yes, it is At our amazing church, Compassion
Church in Gilbert.
It's for ages 13 and up.
So again, but it is adults only, no childcare provided.
And then we have a VIP lunchand Q&A from 1230 to two.
If you would like to add thatticket on, we're going to have a
boxed lunch and some time witha smaller group to just really

(01:51):
go through and answer questionsafter we've gone through the
lifestyle design process.
So we're really excited.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Yeah, so the individual ticket is a mere $99
per person for individual.
But if you're going to attendwith your spouse, we're giving a
discount for couples, knockingthat price down to $179.
And then the VIP lunch and Q&Asession is a $50 add-on per

(02:17):
person.
So if you're going to attend asan individual, $149.
As a couple it's going to endup being 279.
I was talking to my good buddy, john, today, and he lives in
Ohio when I mentioned this tohim.
He's like oh man, he's like I'mgoing to see if my wife and I
can come out.
When I told him the price I wasyou know he's, he's a good
friend I was like I'll see if Ican, you know, get you a

(02:37):
discount.
And I was happy.
We agree, we think you're goingto get a tremendous amount of
value for it.
Yes, but real quick.
We want to give you the linkwhere you can go to register.
And also we do have a discountcode for our listeners Freedom10
, f-r-e-e-d-o-m-1-0 gets ourlisteners 10% off and you can

(03:03):
register by going to wwwbitlyslash, thrive in 25.
So basically, it's a bitlyslash, thrive in 25.
We are trying to get a betterlink for all of you, but didn't
have time before recording thispodcast, so we will put the

(03:23):
hyperlink in the show notes, butit's actually very easy to find
it.
I've already tested it out.
And the other thing is everyguest gets a copy included with
the registration as a copy of mybook, in addition to a
beautiful redesigned workbookversion of our yearly reflection
worksheet.
So we've been using a paperversion and our amazing

(03:46):
assistant, teresa, realized wereally need to create more of a
workbook out of this, because ifyou apply the workbook the way
that it's intended, you're goingto take it every, at least
every three months with yourspouse when you get away,
whether it's for a date or anactual, you know, getaway
retreat, like we call it.
And the workbook is reallygoing to allow you to rework
things, because that's one ofthe things that we've learned is

(04:07):
we kind of sometimes we have torework some of our goals and
our worksheet didn't have a tonof space for it.
So the workbook is designed togive people a little more space,
for it to be a fluid map, foryou to thrive every single year.
And everyone will get their ownindividual workbook, because
you'll want to do it separately, but then share it with your
spouse, if you're married, orsignificant other, so that you

(04:29):
can go through the process ofgoal setting and holding each
other accountable and reallydreaming together and if you're
single like, what you want to dois either find a couple that
you're friends with that canhelp hold you accountable and
you can have conversation with,or find another single friend
that you can also have thisdiscussion with, because we know
that the accountability pieceand the discussion piece is

(04:51):
really very powerful in this.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Exactly so.
We were doing this work,sheeter.
We had done it a few years ago,and one of your goals for this
particular year was to start apodcast, launch my podcast.
And here it was December 31stand you hadn't done it yet, and
it was one of those things whereI guess you could have just
decided to start it in the newyear, but instead you woke up,
sometime before midnight Ibelieve, and you came down and

(05:15):
you pushed record, yeah, and youdid your first rough but raw
version of the Uncommon Freedomshow, which is now Uncommon
Freedom with Beck and Kev.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yeah, and of the uncommon freedom show, which is
now uncommon freedom with beckand kev yeah, and basically that
first episode.
I think it's lost essentiallybecause we changed formats and
uh, it got uh the, the masterreel, um disappeared, but that
was kind of an introduction intowhat uncommon freedom is.
And really, over the last youknow 98, we've done interviews
with some amazing people, somejust, you know, basically normal

(05:48):
Joe type people with amazingstories.
I remember, you know, myepisode interview with Erica,
who is our you know dear friend,an amazing story about, you
know, crossing the borderillegally and really her journey
to uncommon freedom andbecoming an American citizen.
Of course we've had someamazing high-profile guests on,

(06:09):
like John Bevere, john Maxwell, and of course we switched
formats to now I get to gazeinto your lovely face most
episodes, which is actually thehighlight of the podcast.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
That was definitely an upgrade for the podcast.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Absolutely Eye candy, for sure.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Just kidding, but no, it's been wonderful to do it
together.
We can definitely.
We have to tell you honestly, some days we just aren't in the
mood and we do it anyway, butwe've really had fun.
Our goal all along was toprovide, is to provide value.
So we are celebrating almost ahundred episodes and we will be
very excited to have that comeout, but what we are going to do
is actually take a pause, andso you know we're going to give

(06:47):
you some value on this podcastin particular, as well as make
sure you understand the value ofthe upcoming workshop.
But after this, we're justgoing to take a short pause, and
it's really a well-designedbreak, because we know that in
our pursuit of uncommon freedom, there are ebbs and flows in
life and we just have to beaware of that, conscientious.
And we're heading into theholidays, and so we know that we

(07:07):
need some time for rest andrenewal, and we've got some
projects that we're working onright now that we want to turn
our attention to.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah, so hopefully we'll hit 100 before the end of
the year.
It might not be until January, but it's been very interesting,
as we kind of learn algorithmsand promotion and things like
that, and sometimes the realityis this is a labor of love and

(07:34):
I'll just tell you if you'relistening and you find value.
If you listen to any podcastand you find value, let me
encourage you subscribe to thepodcast, um, give them a
five-star review, whether it'sours or another one, and if you
can send a message especially ifyou know the podcaster, send a
message to let them know.
Because you know, when we weremaking this decision, it was

(07:57):
like it was honestly, it wasjust like man, are we, is anyone
getting value from this?
And I got a I can't remember ifit was a text message or I think
it was a text message from oneof my clients and she shared who
actually used to be one of myteachers in high school and she
shared how my sugar episode justwas absolutely impacted her.

(08:19):
And then we were traveling andhad a conversation with someone
else who's, like you know, thatone been a game changer for me.
I've sent it to a bunch ofpeople, um, but that
encouragement really keeps usmotivated because you know, as
of right now, we're not makingmoney from this Um and we're
actually investing a fair amountof time and finances.
So really want to encourage you.
That encouragement for peoplewho are podcasting it's going to

(08:44):
keep them motivated to keep itgoing.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
And we will take also a review.
So if you do a five-star review, we would also love it if you
would write a review, because itjust helps us feel like we are
providing that value and ithelps us to show up for more
people.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Uncommon Freedom is a game changer, not only for the
focused leader but also for therudderless sojourner seeking
direction.
When Kevin talks, I listen, Ilean in and always leave a
better man.
As the wisdom of Proverbs 3.13states, happy is the man who
finds wisdom and the man whogains understanding.
I want to warn you in advanceto prepare your spirit for a
heart and mind shift as you readthis book.

(09:25):
I have learned that convictioncomes when the heart is open to
change.
As I read this book, I wasmoved on several occasions to
evaluate my personal life andmake course corrections.
And this isn't just a book,it's a manual for creating godly
leaders who we desperately needtoday and especially as our

(09:46):
children walk the earth in,whatever it looks like 10, 20,
30 years from now.
Who knows that?
We need leaders who embodythese things?
Because not only do we needpeople who are healthy and
wealthy and have the right heart, but we need people who know
where the spirit of the Lord is.
There is freedom.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Okay, with the remaining amount of time we have
, we wanted to talk through someof the value that we're going
to bring at the workshop, andyou kind of had an epiphany when
you heard something recentlyshared, so let's go with that.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah.
So I was recently listening toa podcast and they were talking
specifically about wealth andthe financial area, and this
gentleman defined wealth as theabsence of stress in your
finances.
I absolutely loved thatdefinition because a lot of
times I think Americans thinkyou're wealthy if you make six

(10:47):
figures per year, or maybe sevenfigures per year.
You're wealthy if you have a networth of a million dollars, or
maybe you know a hundred million, I don't know.
It's very subjective and it'svery subjective, but this
definition of wealth being anabsence of stress, absolutely
loved it.
And it's very subjective, butthis definition of wealth being
an absence of stress, absolutelyloved it.
And because the reality isthere are some people who, at
$30,000 and no debt, theyactually feel very wealthy.

(11:09):
They don't have stress becausethey've actually, you know, they
live in a paid for home, theydrive a paid for car, you know,
maybe, and granted home, theydrive a paid for car and,
realistically, $30,000 intoday's economy probably is a
little bit of a stretch, but thepoint is, maybe it's $50,000 or
$60,000.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
But they have what they need.
They have what they need andnot a deep desire for more.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
And they're not driven by materialism, they're
not worried about keeping upwith the Joneses.
And then the flip side.
There are going to be somepeople, um, that to be wealthy
in this definition, they'regoing to need to make, you know,
maybe seven figures, maybeeight figures, um and um.
And yet there's also going tobe some people who make seven,
eight, nine figures and they'renot going to be wealthy, right,

(11:53):
because they're materialistic.
They're just driven by havingthings.
They don't know when to sayenough is enough.
They're not spending any timewith their family or they're not
good stewards of the money theymake, yes, and they're so dang
leveraged that, even thoughthey're making seven figures,
that that isn't enough they'restill stressed out, and so I

(12:13):
just love that definition.
What I realize is, if you takeessentially the absence of
stress in your life, that's whatthis workshop is going to be
about, because we talk aboutthree habits, seven disciplines.
We talk about your physicalhealth, your marriage, your
parenting, your finances.
This workshop, and our yearlyreflection sheet, really is

(12:34):
designed to help people buildwealth in every area of their
lives.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Absolutely, and so what we're not saying is that in
one year you can turn aroundall areas of your life.
That would be an over-promiseand under-deliver, even though
we're not responsible for howyou take action on the things
that you write down and process.
But what we are saying isthere's a chance for you to stop
drifting downstream and reallyturn around and start rowing the
other direction and seeingmeasurable changes.

(13:03):
You know that 1% improvementover time can really become
something powerful, and I thinkthat one of the things that I
was discussing on a differentpodcast today.
So when we were kind of lookingat the idea of uncommon freedom,
especially for your book, itwas a rating system almost in
our minds as you were creatingthat idea, and it was basically

(13:24):
like there's average, there'sbelow average, and then what we
would call above average isuncommon freedom, and for many
people you, many people, areliving below average, basically
in their thinking, in theirfinances, in their relationships
, in their physical health.
And when you are below average, you really cannot create out of
survival, you can't create outof desperation.

(13:45):
So to be able to create anddream and design a life, you
have to at least get to neutraland then from neutral, you can
start to build from there.
So what we're saying, though,is this lifestyle design
workshop will help you go fromwhere you are and take steps in
the direction of where you wantto be, and it will be
incremental and it'll bestrategic, and it'll be in
multiple areas of your life, ifyou're willing to go there and

(14:08):
if you're motivated to do thework.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Yeah, that's great.
So, basically, you know, wewant to give you a kind of a
couple ideas of who this is for,and really it's for anyone who
isn't satisfied with wherethey're at right now, anyone who
really wants to build wealth inevery area of their life, but,
you know, anyone who's seekingto create a balanced and
intentional family life in 2025.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
That's right.
Or parents who want to deepentheir relationships with their
spouse and children whilesetting meaningful goals.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Yep.
Anyone looking to strengthentheir spiritual, relational and
physical well-being as a family,that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yep and people committed to improving
communication and connectionwithin their relationships.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Also anyone eager to build healthier habits that
benefit both themselves andtheir loved ones.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
How about someone focused on achieving financial
freedom and aligning theirfinances with family goals?

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Absolutely Love that one.
Also, individuals ready todesign a life of purpose with a
focus on personal growth andrelational fulfillment.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Fulfillment's a big one, okay.
And finally, families who wantpractical tools for creating
harmony and thriving together inall areas of life.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
And we're definitely not going to be sharing from our
position of perfection, becausewe're far from it.
We have definitely learned alot of things.
We've made a lot of pivots,we've made a lot of changes
through the years, but we'vealso learned a lot from our
mistakes and we're going toshare from the wisdom that we've
absorbed from many amazingpeople that we've had mentor us

(15:39):
through the years, the thingsthat we've learned, and a lot of
it's from the mistakes thatwe've made.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Absolutely.
One of our core values is webelieve in stewardship, and so
for us, that's really where thelifestyle design principle comes
from is because if we just gothrough life without any
intention, then we're honestlywasting the time, talent and
treasure that God has given eachof us, and we don't want each
year to go by and us to not takeaccount of it, not take

(16:05):
purposeful steps to make animpact, improve ourselves,
improve our community, improveour relationships, improve our
finances and improve ourphysical health.
So again, far from perfect, butdefinitely in process, and this
process we're going to take youthrough is what we go through
every year.
We're getting better at it,it's getting easier, it's more
fun, and so we hope you'll joinus because we think you're going

(16:28):
to have an amazing experience.
So if you live out of state, ifyou're in driving distance,
come.
If you're going to fly in, come.
Just contact us and we'llconnect with you on any other
details you need help with.
But we are really excited to dothis one-day workshop.
We believe we will providegreat value for you.
You will leave changed andyou'll leave with tools and
resources and next steps for howto really create a life of

(16:51):
impact and help yourself thrivein 25.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Yeah, and you mentioned stewardship.
We're in the last few daysbefore the election and help
yourself thrive in 25.
Yeah, and you mentionedstewardship.
We're in the last few daysbefore the election, so we want
to encourage everyone vote.
I was shocked.
I was having a text messageconversation with a friend and
he's in his 30s and just findout this is the first election
that he's ever voted in and Iwas thrilled to hear that he was
voting and honestly, I wasactually convicted that.

(17:16):
I hear that he was voting andhonestly, I was actually
convicted that I always assumedhe was voting and he actually
used to live in Arizona andobviously we know four years ago
was a very contentious electionand it was just a reminder to
me that it's important for notonly for us to vote but to have
conversations with those.
Don't assume that anyone aroundyou is going to vote.
And it always blows my mind whenpeople choose to sit on the

(17:37):
sidelines and then they, youknow, they complain, and I'm not
saying that my friend was doingthis, but it was just someone
who I'd always I just assumed hewas voting and learned that,
you know, this was his firstelection.
So I just really want toencourage all of you vote, vote,
vote.
Please don't sit on thesidelines.
It's you know, becca, and Ibelieve it's very clear in

(18:03):
scripture we are supposed tohave stewardship over every area
of our lives.
